It’s finally official. Adam Lambert will perform with Queen at the Sonisphere festival at Knebworth House, Stevenage UK on July 7.

QUEEN’s Brian May and Roger Taylor have confirmed the band will headline the second day of SONISPHERE appearing on the APOLLO stage on Saturday July 7. KNEBWORTH was the setting for QUEEN’s final concert with Freddie Mercury in August 1986.

May and Taylor also confirmed that for this very special event they will be joined by US singer-songwriter ADAM LAMBERT.

Adam performed with Queen in November at the MTV Europe Awards. Since then rumors have been swirling about possible further collaborations. Adam himself confirmed he was in talks with the legendary band for further dates, but remained tight-lipped on the details.

I am actually looking forward to the Moscow gigs a lot. We got some pretty good video from Maxidrome last year and Adam has a lot of fans in Russia. I heard somewhere they were looking at a club theater gig also. This is going to be so good!

I gotta say if RCA doesn’t know how to take advantage of FREE publicity Adam hands them to work with they are fools!

You know what? With this gig, Mr. Lambert will be truly out of the AI bubble. Love him or hate him, on July 7th, the world will listen attentively…

I saw one comment on the Rolling Stone Article and all they said was
“Sonisqueer”.  Adam is getting it from both sides.  Those that are
Freddy purists and those that are homophobes.

Almost everybody and every group has some BSC fans who need not be taken seriously.  I think some of them believe Bryan and Roger should have killed themselves when Freddie died or certainly should have ceased performing.  Well, they are as much Queen as Freddie was.  In fact, they were there before he even joined the group.  As for homophobes, they are unfortunately always around.  But their hateful efforts to destoy Adam will probably succeed only in winning him more fans.  Many sensible people will want to ally themselves with whatever person or group those low-life bigots are against.

Blessings and gratitude about the Queen News:-)

As I have always said Adam will have work from the UK first hopefully a domino effect will trigger into ”auto-trendy” radio USA and other parts of the world. They will have to take notice:-)

I pray that RCA knows how to capitalise on the exposure with Queen and other big performances. Or do they want to employ me! LOL :)

The Brilliance of #Trespassing is a memoir and a statement about the challenges and celebration Adam faces in the so called ”normal hetrosexual” world. If handle with grace Adam will break barriers:-)

    AMEN!

    Till them

    Regards

Those who’s talking homophobe about Adam’s DEFINITELY don’t know Freddie or NOT his fans. I love Freddie, but I think it’s stupid this Freddie purist thinking that Brian & Roger had to just retired when Freddie died, did these people stay at home and didn’t do anything when their spouse or someone they care for died? Nope they pick themself up and do things they love to do and enjoy their life again. That’s what Brian & Roger do, Freddie’s always special for them but their live don’t stop and doesn’t mean that they have to stop making or creating music the minute Freddie died.

Who is to say that these so called “Queen” fans are really Queen fans.  Could be the same bigots that have spilled their hatred all over the web and just now using a different agenda to voice their hatred.  If they are Queen fans I would say they ignored the fact that Freddie was gay too.  I almost feel sorry for these small minded people that have nothing in their small lives then to transmit their ignorance and project that fact.  In the end, Adam will prevail and what will these hateful people have to show for their 15 seconds of fame, a long forgotten post.

I didn’t hear anything in Roger Taylor’s remark about Moscow that it included Adam.  He talked about them (which I thought meant him and Brian) might have to get loosen up.  I hope it includes Adam because that would be great for him but we will probably find out some time soon if it does or does not.

Actually they are called medges and made by Rick Owens.  They are a suede knee high boot that sold for $2,400.  This is probably what they look like or is the same one.  http://www.oki-ni.com/invt/ro0658blk

Maybe not, now that you mention it, but it makes sense that Adam would need to practice for this gig too, he is going to be their main singer. They can’t wing it like they did for the EMAs. That was a medley of just 3 songs, this is supposed to be a full set. We shall see, but I would not be surprised to see Adam in Moscow.

I agree as they will have to have someone sing with the band and singing the songs will be good practice for the Sonisphere.  I wonder if Roger was talking about the Moscow event that Adam was at last year.  If it is, that would definitely be interesting to see the reaction as they were also a hard rock/metal crowd like the Sonisphere will be.  I remember some of the hardcore metal fans were impressed along with some of the different reporters.  Well, anyway I am hoping you are right as it could mean good videos like there was last year.

I imagine Adam will be in Russian for practice sessions with the band.  It would make no sense to practice for a giant gig and not have the singer who is in fact new to the group.  Adam would want to do this because he seems like a team player and the more international exposure he gets the better.  With U.S. radio being what it unfortunately is, I think his future will be more and more on the international stage. Thank goodness for Queen.

Lovely comments about and high praise for Adam from Brian May and Roger Taylor, from an interview at the Brit Awards:

Adam is a phenomenon in so many ways.  One which I find so amazing is how his life is riddled with events so astounding that it seems as if the universe is unfolding as it should for him.  If Adam was a movie, it would be an epic film with full-circle moments, serendipity, poetic license, and irony.  Remember the full-circle moment with Paula Abdul with whom he first auditioned with AI and whose concert was Adam’s first; then, Adam’s auditioning AI with Bohemian Rhapsody will come full circle when he will certainly sing this number with the Sonisphere coming up.  In full display of serendipity, Adam’s musing of finding his love riding on a Viking ship, in the northern lights in the Arctic circle” became true with his accidental meeting with soulmate Sauli, a Finn who had actually worked in a Viking Cruise ship.  During AI’s finale, Gene Simmons remarked that Adam ruined his career by coming out, and guess who is now going to be eating crow when the Kiss bumps head with Queen’s Adam?  Finally, how ironic is it that ”Whataya want from me” just happened to be the single to follow his controversial AMA performance as the perfect answer to the question.  The way Adam’s life is unfolding, when it will be made into a movie, there will be no need for any embellishments to enhance his story.  It will be sufficient unto itself, like the true artist that he is.

     atomom … Love your post.
    Totally agree with you.
I can’t express my thoughts of Adam’s life like you do.

Also the movie “Slumdog Millionair” reminds me of Adam’s life.

My heart is pounding, I’m reading on twitter that Adam will be performing with Queen at the Olympics. OMG I hope it’s true.

  • mmb

I doubt the fan speculation/wishful thinking re Adam/queen Olympics are true. 1) there has been no indication Queen will be involved with opening or closing ceremonies, 2) in general Olympic performers are citizens of the Olympic host country, 3) blur has already been announced as a main performer at closing ceremonies. It would be fun to see it happen, but I think there is probably zero percent of it happening. But the fan chatter in twitter will prolly continue right through the summer regardless

I doubt the fan speculation/wishful thinking re Adam/queen Olympics are true.

I agree. At this point it is only fan wishful thinking, and there is really no indication at all that Queen is even one of the acts playing the event, let alone that Adam would be involved. Twitter chatter is not exactly a reliable source.
