It’s finally official. Adam Lambert will perform with Queen at the Sonisphere festival at Knebworth House, Stevenage UK on July 7.

QUEEN’s Brian May and Roger Taylor have confirmed the band will headline the second day of SONISPHERE appearing on the APOLLO stage on Saturday July 7. KNEBWORTH was the setting for QUEEN’s final concert with Freddie Mercury in August 1986.

May and Taylor also confirmed that for this very special event they will be joined by US singer-songwriter ADAM LAMBERT.

Adam performed with Queen in November at the MTV Europe Awards. Since then rumors have been swirling about possible further collaborations. Adam himself confirmed he was in talks with the legendary band for further dates, but remained tight-lipped on the details.

This is so wonderful for Adam.  Just the right kind of publicity for a brand based on outstanding vocals.  This is a very lucky situation for him to be in right now.  I have a good feeling about this era and the UK.

  • Anonymous

Yayyyy!  What an awesome opportunity for Adam to show the UK what he can do!

  • gferna

You know what? I’m happy! Horay!

  • Anonymous

Yay! This is  fantastic news. I’m sure Adam will do a great job and it will be an amazing show!

  • musicality

Didn’t MJ post last week that he was doing a festival in Japan with Rihanna? Plus that huge Russian festival and that other one MJ posted that he did a couple of months ago. I can’t remember what country it was in. I never realized how big he is internationally.

With Adam’s talent and voice there is no way good opportunities won’t come his way.  And this opportunity with Queen is the best of the best!  Congratulations to Adam!

So excited! I think there would have been a meltdown in the fandom if it didn’t happen, lol.
Such a HUGE opportunity. He is going to have an incredibly busy spring/summer!

  • koshka

So much for for calling it a “CR@P:twitter” rumor, eh?

    Nice opportunity! :)

  • sdmama

I dreamt about this for so long, and now that it came true, I am totally intimidated by the enormity of this festival.  Am I ready for camping out with 100,000 people? After flying across the pond? With two teen agers?  Holy moly!

Squee, this is so exciting OMG

  • BonnieDee

I am a huge Queen fan.  I didn’t watch Season 8 so never really followed Adam.  But I heard he had sung with Queen so I listened to it (TSMGO).  I was really impressed.  This is the first time I think anyone has done a great job in place of the incomparable late Freddie Mercury.

    Adam himself released this
statement: “I’m completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of
sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I’m honoured to be
able to pay my respects to Freddie’s memory. He’s a personal hero of mine and I
am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this
legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with
the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on
    display.”

    BEAUTIFULLY SAID ADAM… REALLY BEAUTIFUL

I also have a REALLY good feeling about the UK this time. He couldn’t ask for a better opportunity or bigger exposure.

And that UK Chartshow interview was just entirely awesome.

  • BonnieDee

Yes I really like what he said about Freddie.

I am BEYOND thrilled! I will be booking tickets ASAP. Which airport is closer and I would not camp for anybody but our CAMP singer Adam! Where the heck did I put that tent?

I am so happy for him that I can hardly contain myself. I am a huge fan of both Adam and Queen so this is like a dream come true!!! What I would give to see this live!!

  • Anonymous

This is EPIC!  What a dream come true for Adam. To sing for the legendary group Queen at KNEBWORTH. The croud should be huge!

  • Anonymous

Wonderful news and perfect timing for Adam. By the time the concert rolls around, he will have his new album and singles to promote, and you just can’t get better exposure than being invited to sing with Queen at a big festival in England when you are trying to break in the British market. Fabulous!

I guess he’ll be clinging to these Queen appearances now that his single is flopping.  It’s a good fit, but he certainly needs them more now than they need him.

This is awesome!!! What a fantastic honor and opportunity for Adam! WOW!! Really amazing.

This is the official press release posted on Queen’s website:

    http://www.queenonline.com/en/news-archive/press-release-queen-return-knebworth/

    Love this excerpt:

“After their brief meeting on American Idol, the potent chemistry between Queen and Lambert finally broke the surface when at the invitation of Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor Lambert joined them for the closing showcase at the recent MTV Europe Awards where Queen were present to collect their Global Icon award.

“Their eight minute MTVE set ignited an immediate reaction across the internet with social network sites buzzing with excitement and campaigning for a more formal union between Queen and Lambert. The Sonisphere 2012 Knebworth stage will at last provide an eager public the opportunity to see May, Taylor and Lambert delve deeper into exploring their very evident artistic appreciation of one another.”

I love what Brian said, and I love what Adam said.

    Brian May:

“Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It’s a worthy challenge for us, and I’m sure Adam would meet with Freddie’s approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth? It will be a rush.”

    Adam:

“I’m completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I’m honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie’s memory. He’s a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display.”

I’m so happy and excited for Adam. This must be like an amazing surreal dream come true for him.

Don’t even get me started on this…… anyhow, I know that I am probably totally weird that way…… but what I would really really love to see is them breaking out “I want to break free” in full costume as they had in the video… and I do think that Brian still has smashing legs…

To think, the first time so many of saw Adam and were blown away he auditioned for Idol with a Queen song and now look at him. Fronting the legendary band at a huge concert. And on the verge of releasing his sophomore album! What a ride he has had! And so many great things waiting for him in the future, so well deserved!

OK, if this performance is televised, then its significance is amplified.  Even if it’s not, it’s the kind of huge event that will be very beneficial for Adam and, hopefully, his solo career.

  • Valentin432

It’s a great opportunity to play with Queen for the Sonisphere.
There’s going to be a big crowd and those summer festivals in Europe are a ton of fun.  I’m sure there will be ton of media from this appearance.

  • Anonymous

lol you don’t think it is a big deal to be asked to perform at a MAJOR festival with a LEGENDARY act?

you would wet your pants if your idol was asked to sing with Paul McCartney and you know it.

  • Dakota01

Here’s a video of Robbie Williams performing at Knebworth in 2009.  Take notice of the size of the crowd.

What a HUGE crowd and what a HUGE opportunity for Adam to be exposed to so many new fans, not to mention what a HUGE honor to be asked to perform with Queen.

Sure there are lots of other festivals, but this looks like a good one, don’t ya think?

    IMPRESSIVE and PLENTY !!!!!

    Look at the crowds!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

One of the articles said this is to be Queen’s only appearance in 2012.  Also, the site of the historic last concert with Freddie.  Plus, Adam won’t be just appearing at a festival as he’s done many times – he’ll be appearing with Queen – to sing their iconic songs for 180,000 plus people.  One of the most prestigious and well reknowned rock bands of all time have deemed Adam worthy of all of this.  The stamp of approval of Queen is an incredible honor.  Yup – win, win, WIN for Adam on this one!

  • Anonymous

maybe not for some, but it is a BIG of a deal for us who loves Adam & Queen:)
and oh, for those… how many was that? like 120,000 people going to attend? so yeah,it’s a huge deal for them too.
Same goes to the japan festival, and hoping there would be lot more to come.

Wow that youtube video of the crowd is unbelievable.  I’d be skeerd, but I think Adam with Queen backing will be great. PLENTY of reasons for Adam fans to get excited.

So excited for this, and for Adam, this will show everyone what we already know, the best male singer in the world, and now maybe they all will respect him for it.

He really does deserve this, and has earned it.  Keep your eye on the prize as Madonna once told him, and I think this may be one of the prizes!!  I just cant wait to hear him and see him sing this concert, it is going to be so awsome.  HaHa, We will have Rockstar Adam back, at least for a day.  HaHa, Queen for a Day!  Adam style!!!!!

  • koshka

Its actually 60K from what I’ve read.. but YAY!!

  • cwm

Haha ok, I can think of a few reasons why this is a big deal for Adam…

    1. It’s QUEEN.

    2. It’s a headlining performance with QUEEN.

    3. It’s a full set at a headlining performance with QUEEN.

    4. It’s a full set at a headlining performance with QUEEN, in front of upwards of 50,000 – 100,000 people (see photo from previous year: http://www.outune.net/attualita/news/sonisphere-festival-2012-knebworth-line-up-domani-sera/48996

    5. It’s a full set at a headlining performance with QUEEN, in front of upwards of 50,000 – 100,000 people, at a huge rock festival that happens to be a big deal in the UK, a market which Adam is keen to break into.

    6. It’s a full set at a headlining performance with QUEEN, in front of upwards of 50,000 – 100,000 people, at a huge rock festival in the UK, at the site where Freddie Mercury had his last public performance with Queen in 1986, creating an important full-circle moment for the band. An important moment that Adam gets to play an essential role in creating.

So yeah, I think it’s safe to say that this is a huge honor, privilege, and opportunity for Adam. :-)

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MV64BS4FSISCASL4P656RXAFYQ Kayla

Soooo excited about this! But uh, I think we need a little fact checking, which often happens when we’re all flailing LOL.

Maybe semantics, but the quote says this will be Queen’s only concert performance in the UK in 2012. It’s possible it might be the only at all in 2012 too, but then again they could be looking at a date or two in another country.

Also, I think some are pulling that 120,000 audience number from the article that talks about Queen’s last historic performance at Knebsworth, well before Sonisphere existed and at the height of Queen’s popularity. Sonisphere is more like 60,000 people, which is still fantastic.

Great gig for Adam. I do admit it’s kinda funny that KISS will be there. Probably on another night though. ;)

  • http://twitter.com/Lnf001 Lil Nik

JFC – I’ve been saving for this since the EMAs, but unfortunately airplane alone is $1441 with 3 changes. Total for a LA resident is about $2500 :-( Hoping for Innuendo, Show Must Go On, The Miracle, Breakthrough, Bohemian.. heck, everything. Will someone kind enough traveling there – please record for the rest of us poor people? I’ll keep my savings and throw those at Adam at his US based concerts.

  • asifclueless

    CONGRATULATIONS …… ADAM !!!!

    Wonderfully Well Deserved.

I’m thrilled and very happy for you.

Can’t wait.  Is it Mapril or Muly yet?

  • Anonymous

And I think it’s 60,000 total attendance (adding up the different nights).  But it’s a huge honor for Adam!  Don’t come down too hard on those that don’t get what an honor this is, if Scotty was asked to sing with a country music legend I would probably think what’s the big deal too (since I don’t really follow or care for country music).  People who don’t like Queen or Adam will think this is no big deal, people who like Queen and Adam will think it’s a very big deal.  I happen to think it’s a big deal myself!

  • Anonymous

If you look at the Robbie Williams and Queen crouds, I think they are both more than 60,000 in attendance. Who appears at these festivals will determine the ticket sales, some will be bigger than others IMHO.

  • musicality

I think it’s funny that KISS is basically the opening act. Queen got the prime spot ie Saturday night. Always the pimp spot since the highest attendance of the festival is Saturday night.

How very exciting! That’s two large festivals already lined up for this year, not a bad start and I love the consistent praise Brain and Roger and Adam all say about each other. I’m especially moved by Brian May saying that Freddie Mercury would approve of Adam. I think that’s one of the biggest compliments anyone could receive.

  • Anonymous

Yay Adam. He will do a great job and it’s good exposure yada yada yada. I’m very excited. Still can’t wait to hear his album.

I do have a friend a work who around 50 yo and doesn’t think the band Queen is all that legendary. “What have they done since Freddy?” His statement not mine. So there are folks out there who have no axe to grind about Adam one way or the other and still don’t think all that about Queen. It’s a big world out there and lots of opinions. So for those that do like queen and hopefully will enjoy Adam’s performance with them a big yay!. There will be new people who will be amazed by Adam’s performance (and those who aren’t). So it’s good, it’s all good.

Dearly wish I could go but have daughters college to pay for so I’ll have to watch the video’s. Hope they think about a performance DVD cause that would be epic.

Oh that’s right in all my excitement over Sonisphere I had completely forgotten that Adam is playing Summer Sonic in Japan in August, yay!

And me too, the lovely compliments Brian and Roger have had for Adam in the past and for this announcement make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Didn’t that guy with KISS (can’t think of his name and don’t care to look it up) say Adam ruined his career by “coming out”. Ha ha, now they are both performing at the same event (diff nights and all but still). Granted Adam is not yet doing his own music.

  • gferna

Good opportunity for Adam.  I hope someone can shot and upload videos on YT.  By July next Trespassing single should be around.  This performance could be a game changer for him.  Sadly, he will need tons of help to make Trespassing a success.  This is the world we live in…

I’m so excited for Adam by this news – he certainly deserves the honor of this gig!  I am also thrilled to see that KISS has to be sharing the billing of one
ADAM LAMBERT —  but I am so sad that we here in America won’t be getting the opportunity to experience this live ourselves. How hard would it be to coordinate one little concert in the  USA???

  • Anonymous

It’s a big deal for Queen fans and Adam fans. It’s HUGE deal for Adam and it’s a big deal for Roger and Brian too, because Knebworth was the last stadium the original band Queen performed 26 years ago. So performing in Knebworth this time, means they’re revisiting that memory with Freddie again, and this time with the singer that is as theatrical as Freddie and has the same vocal range as Freddie. SQUEEEEENNNNN!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

I think your right and if it was me going I would be attending at least 2 of the 3 events a make it a concert to remember. I bet there will be many people especially those living in the UK thinking the same thing. Cross over Rock/Metal fans.

  • Anonymous

I am just thinking what this must be like for his parents, especially for his dad who used to spin Queen music as a dj.  To think his son is now going to sing with Queen must be really blowing his mind.  And the pride!  I think people who do not know the true Adam and only see the negative in tabloids will maybe take the time to see what a beautiful character this man has and realize what we already know.  He so deserves this and anyone being negative about it has got to have jealous reasons.

  • Anonymous

Susan, I think it is said that “this is to be Queen’s only appearance in 2012 IN THE UK”. So it’s possible that they’re planning to do another appearance in other country.

  • Anonymous

Yes, definitely all good.  And I’d pay a lot for a performance DVD – but many times I even enjoy an excellent fan vid almost as much.  Wonder how many of those will show up.

Just the thought of a great band and a great singer together – no matter where – bliss.

  • Anonymous

And don’t forget that Queen fans around the world, I bet their fans will try to come to see Queen perform again, since it’s a rare thing to be at their concert again.

I’d be careful with such predictions… People can be fickle and dismissive and Adam himself isn’t a draw. It’s gonna be the omg-Queen-again and curiosity of a Queen-without-Freddie against what-Queen-without-Freddie-pffft-who-cares. The latter attitude might be common amongst the actual Queen fans.

People who don’t like Queen or Adam will think this is no big deal,

You can not like someone and still acknowledge something that all common sense would tell you it’s a pretty big deal.

Queen is a legendary rock band whose lead singer is widely respected as one of, if not the, best male rock singer of many generations.  He was a gay man who died tragically young of AIDs related complications effectively robbing the world of his, voice, talent and super charged charisma.  Rock music and dare I say, music in general, has been a little less fun and OTT since his passing.

The fact that his last performance was at the very venue where Adam will be performing is a huge deal for so many reasons not the least of which is that Adam will get on that stage as an open and proud gay man (something that Freddie wasn’t able to do in his lifetime) and he will sing those songs with as much power and passion as Freddie did.  He will bring those songs to life one more time for Brian, Roger and all the fans of Queen who miss them and miss Freddie and he will do it with a voice and a style that, while certainly not as great as Freddie, pretty damn near to it.

  • http://twitter.com/whiskey401 Whiskey

This is so true. There will be a lot of dismissive and fickle fans of Queen that will want to checkout out all the hoopla around one Adam Lambert. This is the exact thing that happened at the Russian Maximo Rock/Metal Festival. Those hardcore rock fans stuck around to check out Adam. Quote from one Korn fan “I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about and I am impressed”. That is how you get new fans.

    This is fantastic.

After being able to take a step back for a moment and consider, one of the things I’m most happy about is that Adam will get to experience performing in at a stadium concert.  Those are fairly few and far between these days with the way the industry has been going, so I’m glad that he will get the chance to experience that at least once.

The buzz he got after the EMAs, his fans, Queens fans, fans of the other bands, curious fans – naw, I’m good.  My expectations are high and I see no reason to be pessimistic.

  • sf3456

Faith No More?  Incubus?  Lacuna Coil?  I would go to see them instead of a makeshift Queen.

  • Tess

I’ve watched parts and pieces of “famous” rock groups tour for the last few years to absolutely sell out crowds and fandoms that go nuts because one of their heroes from their favorite band is doing a gig.  Prime example:  Pink Floyd.  They haven’t played together for twenty years but their fans flock to any Roger Waters or David Gilmour concert and could care less if the other 3 originals aren’t there.
Its not always about the people playing the instruments but about the mystique of just feeling like you are experiencing a piece of what the band in its hey day felt and sounded like.  Besides….A whole generation of queen fans weren’t even born when Freddie last sang with the band so they are just going to be thrilled to be anywhere in the vicinity of any of the original members.

  • musicality

Faith No More, Incubus, Laucuna Coil. Lol–not so much

  • sagi

I am so happy for Adam! No matter what the buzz on the net, good and bad, I am pretty sure anyone attending that concert is NOT going to walk away disappointed! Adam can rock those tunes off the wall and no matter what people think about him, I don’t think they could honestly walk away and not think he killed! Adam has admitted being a fan of Freddy since he started his Idol run, and to get this honor, fronting for QUEEN, must be mind blowing! :)

  • Karen C

This is fantastic for Adam !!! I’m so happy for him.  I think this will really help to establish him.

  • Moria Polonius

Lol, I don’t think many people would. Queen is Queen.

  • http://twitter.com/nevada0one nevada01

Then go and enjoy them!  Make sure you stick around for Queen, though.

If not, you can get a head start to your car and let others get closer to the stage.

  • Moria Polonius

This is the exact thing that happened at the Russian Maximo Rock/Metal Festival. Those hardcore rock fans stuck around to check out Adam.

I was thinking more about Queen fans specifically making the effort to go to the festival for them. I’m sure that anyone who would go to the Sonisphere anyways will not miss out on a Queen concert, whoever they might be fronted by. As I said one post down, Queen is Queen.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_P46N6P5XPK22JVXDJJEENXGLVE marie

This is so exciting for Adam and his fans. Well deserve opportunity for Adam.

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

So there will be polarizing feelings about Adam performing with Queen  – I think Adam is fairly use to that.  There’s gonna be a crowd for this concert no matter who a particular person is coming to see.  And all those people will be ‘getting a load of’ Adam while they are there ; )

  • http://twitter.com/AdamsArmyGirl Linda Vastardis

Thanks so much for posting this link.  Wow!  They had 120,000 people there in 1986, and from what I read, it was a smashing success for Freddie & Queen.

I’m sure Adam is relishing this opportunity to pay tribute and homage to one of his musical heroes, but I bet he’s nervous as hell too … and that’s a very good thing as an artist.  He’s going to have tremendous shoes to fill, but if anyone is up to this task, it’s “Rock God Adam!”

This is going to be a big boost for his career as a multi-talented artist who can “sang” anything with anyone in any genre.  They will have a love fest for Adam at Knebworth, guaranteed.  It may not start out that way for the old-time diehard Queen fans, but by the end of this full set concert Adam will have them eating out of the palm of his hand.

What a full circle moment for Adam … from auditioning BoRhap on Idol to literally ‘starring’ in this Sonisphere concert.  Yes, Brian & Roger are sensational, but when all is said and done, it always comes down to ‘the vocalist.’

Hail Rock God Lambert!!  Long Live the King!

  • Axxxel

There are thousand of festivals but there is only one Queen !!

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

Ahhha. thank you for pointing that out.  And that could be really good news for Adam fans!  I read it quickly with the flurry of stuff coming out and I couldn’t remember where I saw it to re-verify.

  • Anonymous

Exactly! Some guy tweeted that he was not happy that Adam was singing with Queen, but would go just to say he saw Queen live.

  • http://twitter.com/AdamsArmyGirl Linda Vastardis

Ohhhh yes, I couldn’t agree more!  In fact, when I saw KISS on the bill, I was initially ‘bummed’ that they were going to be appearing at the same festival as Queen & Adam.  But reading your post has changed my perspective completely on all of it.

I remember far too well Gene Simmons’ snide/snarky remarks about Adam shortly after Idol.  I hope he enjoys eating his words now …. I could never tolerate Simmons before, but now I loathe him even more, if that’s possible.

What goes around, comes around, and this is sweet karma for Adam …

  • asifclueless

    From  Queen’s wikipedia page …

…  In 1997, Queen performed with Elton at a concert in Paris. The Paris concert was only the second time Queen had played live since Freddie’s death, and afterward, Elton John urged them to perform again:

“You guys should go out and play again. It must be like having a Ferrari in the garage waiting for a driver.”

—Elton John, on Queen being without a lead singer since the death of Freddie
    Mercury.

Go Adam!!! Drive that Ferrari !!!

What an experience of a life time!!!

  • Axxxel

Who knows some fans of those Faith No More and other bands might end up at least being aware of Adam Lambert in a positive way.  I remember going to an event which featured Daughtry and Adam Lambert. My main focus was Adam, but I just attended the Daughtry gig as well, because it was included in the price of the ticket. And I was impressed, I liked the whole set… I have to admit that I haven’t bought his CD yet, but my opinion about Daughtry has definitely changed for the better after that concert.

  • Anonymous

If fans of Queen aren’t going because they have a person fronting them who isn’t Freddie (who is NO LONGER WITH US) then they are pathetic.  People need to learn to adjust their expectations and get on with their lives.

  • Anonymous

Axxxel, are you talking about F1 concert in Singapore? That’s the only place I rememberd Adam and Daughtry performing at the same place. I think Daughtry performed before Adam, do I remember that right?

  • Axxxel

The game and pressure is on… At the MTV European Awards, it was only a buzz of a few days before the performance that Adam Lambert might perform together with Queen and other artists…  Adam was not even mentioned in the introduction. This time it is much different… The official announcement, mentioning clearly Adam is 5 months in advance, it is a full set list…expectations of the audience is high…

  • Anonymous

I’m pretty sure this announcement will get people curious and want to find out about Adam. I hope they get to see the EMA’s performance. But just like Radio1 said, Brian & Roger will not put Adam in the band if they don’t believe in Adam.

  • Anonymous

Although I read somewhere that there is no Glastonbury this year, so that could make numbers for Knebworth higher.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WIHKL34XDORTS2UZP4SWUUTG3U randi

Exactly! Some guy tweeted that he was not happy that Adam was singing with Queen, but would go just to say he saw Queen live.

It is fans like that I’d be most interested in seeing their reactions to Adam.  I think too many times people underestimate or outright dismiss Adam either because of their own musical snobbery or their lack of knowledge of him as a vocalist.  He tends to win people over that hear him perform live though.

  • milwlovesadam

    Happy! Thrilled!! Excited!! Yay!

This fan could not be more exuberant for Adam!! He’s gonna slaaaaay them!

And, there will be professional video and a DVD of it, I’m guessing.

I still play the Queen at Wembley DVD, and others. That sound fills my house, and now Adam will fill Freddie’s shoes. Nobody else can.

The image of Freddie and Radio Gaga, and the possibility of Adam singing Under Pressure gives me goosebumps!

Paula was right about Adam walking in the path of greatness.

  • Axxxel

Bingo ! Daughtry performed at 6 pm and Adam at 11.30 pm (uugh… so late but it was after the race).

Just to be able to sing with one of your idols has got to be epic for Adam.  Look how often he has worn that Queen t shirt.

  • Anonymous

this is such exciting news. For all of us that have been fans of Adams since the beginning, we know how much Queen and Freddie mean to him. I can’t imagine what he is feeling right now. So proud to be his fan……..and so want to try and go!!

  • http://twitter.com/RonnieDRocks Ronnie D

Imagine if David Bowie came out and sang Under Pressure with them. Adam would probably be flailing on stage lol.

  • asifclueless

Adam has the courage and confidence … (Balls of Steel) … to fill in the enormous shoes.
He’ll rock it out with his multi talents … superb vocals, great vocal range and excellent stage presence.

I still listen to his EMAs Queen performance on repeat every day.

Love his rock side very much.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WIHKL34XDORTS2UZP4SWUUTG3U randi

Just to be able to sing with one of your idols has got to be epic for Adam.  Look how often he has worn that Queen t shirt.

It must be surreal for him.  I doubt he ever imagined when he auditioned for Idol in the Summer of 08 singing a Queen song that a mere four years later he’d be asked to stand on stage in front of their countrymen and sing their songs with them as their frontman….and then for it to be on the very stage that was the site of their last performance with his personal hero Freddie Mercury takes it to an entirely different level of serendipity.

  • mmb

Yup, Adam has some balls of steel for doing this. EMAs were a last minute surprise – most peeps didn’t even know what he would be doing there. And it was just a three song medley. This time there will be 5 months of bitching by some of the Queen purists who think the band should have died with Freddie, the metal heads who don’t think Queen should be performing at all, let alone with an American pop star by way of reality tv, etc etc. No doubt the show will be reviewed. He will want to make Roger and Brian proud. And he will be promoting his own cd and single at that time. I’m sure Adam will kill it – these songs are all right in his vocal wheelhouse. But the weight of expectation will be upon him. Balls of steel for taking the challenge

  • ronnie

Maybe this will help him in England, but I doubt most Americans have even heard of this festival, much less will take an interest in it.

  • sf3456

The legend of Queen is iconic. The band name and songs are iconic.
Faith No More, Incubus, Laucuna Coil. Lol–not so much

Queen might be “iconic” or whatever.  KISS could be thrown in that category, too.  Do you see their fans laughing at the other bands on the bill?

I’m saying that I would go to see those other bands because their names attracted me more than hang around and see Adam Lambert pretend he’s Freddie Mercury.  Know what I mean?

  • http://twitter.com/nevada0one nevada01

Maybe this will help him in England, but I doubt most Americans have even heard of this festival, much less will take an interest in it.

International sales count in the bottom line just as much as domestic sales.

  • http://twitter.com/nevada0one nevada01

I’m saying that I would go to see those other bands because their names attracted me more than hang around and see Adam Lambert pretend he’s Freddie Mercury. Know what I mean?

    So you are going, then?
And if you go, would you not stick around to see Queen in a rare live performance?  With one of the few vocalists who could do the material justice?  A vocalist who was chosen and endorsed by Brian May and Roger Taylor themselves?

I think Adam has said he is not pretending to be Freddie.  No one can be Freddie.  I think you are confusing Adam with the Queen tribute band that is making the rounds.

    To each their own, though…

  • sf3456

I just noticed Cypress Hill on there?  Who knew they were still around?

  • Anonymous

I’ve got to say as a rock fan, playing for the Sonisphere Festival is a HUGE deal. I’m not certain if there are compilation DVDs made that will be for sale (I’ve never seen them), but I do know that I have watched many, many performances from the UK and the various satellite venues on Palladia and VH1. So the exposure from performing there should be ongoing. My guess is that this appearance will not help sales for his next album sales b/c I’m assuming his album is pop and not rock (and Sonisphere peeps would more than likely NOT be purchasing Adam’s kind of music) but I don’t think it matters when you have this kind of opportunity. It is a definite plus for his career either way IMO.

What I think is most cool about this whole thing is that it sounds as if being asked to front Queen means an enormous amount to Adam personally, b/c it sounds as if Freddie was his musical idol. To be invited by Freddie’s bandmates to take his place for a huge event like this must be so surreal for him and I’m happy for him primarily on that account. Call me a sap but I like to hear dreams coming true for people.

  • Anonymous

The problem is Adam has never tried to be Freddie Mercury.  He has always said that he sings the songs his way and hopefully in doing so is paying homage to one of his biggest idols.  Nothing can be faulted about that.

As far as Kiss is concerned they don’t even have all the original members.  Only two have remained so I am wondering if one of their singers is pretending to sing like one of the original group.  Interesting concept that is for sure.

  • sf3456

    So you are going, then?

No.  That’s where?  In the UK?  I’m in the US.  I’m not breaking bank just to — no.  I can see Incubus when they come to town.

  • Anonymous

While you are right that most Americans wouldn’t have known about this festival, I do think that because an American has been selected to lend his vocal talents to an Iconic European band–that was at least nearly as iconic here as it was in the UK–the performance will receive much publicity both here and across the pond.  Again, you’re right, I certainly didn’t know about this festival, but now I do, and so do Adam’s 1.3 million Twitter followers (or at least half of them that bother to check their threads).  If I were an entertainer, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at much lesser exposures, let alone a 65,000+ live audience, who knows how large of a You-Tube audience post-concert, and 300,000-500,000+ Twitter followers who are being apprised of the fact that Queen thought I was vocally talented enough to represent them in their own country in front of a huge crowd.  There are no draw-backs I can imagine to Adam’s being given this opportunity. Selecting him was an honor and an homage to his unique vocal talent, pure and simple.

  • Moria Polonius

So? The news is making the rounds thru the media already… American media too, like this:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/adam-lambert-confirms-he-will-sing-with-queen-20120220

In this case, it’s “who” that counts and not “where”. (Though the fact they’re playing at the place of Freddie’s last concert is a nice touch.) As far as exposure goes, it’s going to help Adam everywhere, though obviously in UK most.

  • Anonymous

Do you think they might show the festival on the Palladia channel?  I was going to drop it off my DirecTV but if there is a possibility that it will show up there I may just have to keep it a little longer…….LOL

  • http://twitter.com/nevada0one nevada01

No. That’s where? In the UK? I’m in the US. I’m not breaking bank just to — no. I can see Incubus when they come to town.

Why ask where?  It is in the article.

And by the way, Cypress Hill released their latest album in 2010, jsyk.

CWM below has already listed press reporting on this and most of them are American press.

International sales count a lot. One of the radio DJ’s that Adam talked to recently said Adam had sold 4 million singles world wide off FYE.

So excited for this collaboration!  Truly a full circle moment for Adam..from his AI audition (when this huge Queen fan instantly became an Adam fan) to fronting the band as they revisit the venue of their last concert with Freddie.  I’m also happy that I’ll be able to check attending a Queen concert off my bucket list.  My hubby and I will be making the trip to Sonicsphere to celebrate our anniversary.  One of our first dates was to see the Flash Gordon movie with the Queen soundtrack and we bonded over our mutual love for Queen’s music…so, I guess it will also be a full circle moment for us!

  • Anonymous

This will help not only in England which is a very important market for Adam, but it will undoubtedly also give Adam a lot of cred in the US music business. There is just no denying that it is a great honor to be asked to perform with Queen at Sonisphere.

  • Anonymous

Being an Adam fan is so fun and fascinating, just addicting.  Talk about peaks and vallleys.  This has got to be Mt. Everest in terms of peaks.

  • http://twitter.com/svmreiter Susan Reiter

Seems like they are hearing about it now!  I’ve read a half dozen articles from different sites in the last hour.  Besides, Queen has a fansite with many American fan members who follow them faithfully and subscribe to their newsletter.

  • Anonymous

Adam is not going to pretend to be Freddie. In the Sonisphere poster stated Queen featuring Adam Lambert. Adam already has his own brandname, no need to pretend. People who saw his EMA performance, they said didn’t see someone who’s trying to be Freddie, they see Adam Lambert singing Queen songs and added his own spin. That’s another reason why Brian & Roger like him.

  • Anonymous

What I think is most cool about this whole thing is that it sounds as if

THIS!! Adam is not just a businessman but he’s also a person who loves to sing live and perform. To be invited to sing for Queen is as he says “such an honor”. Remember what Adam said about his reaction to his management asking if “this is something you would be interested in?” regarding the EMA’s?  Sometimes it’s not about the money or the fans or the business angle. It’s about going out and singing in a stadium with a band Adam likes and bringing to life great music.

What a great anniversary trip for you!  Wish I could make the trip – it can’t help but be memorable in so many ways!  Congratulations!

  • musicality

Nope, sorry. I don’t know what you mean. But I will bet most concert goers will agree with me since they won’t be caught up in the Idol bubble. The my Idol is better your your Idol mentality. You know what I mean?

  • http://twitter.com/RonnieDRocks Ronnie D

Freddie was an amazing singer and performer. Adam is as well. I have heard some vocals from Adam’s live performances, and he can easily hold his own with Freddie Mercury. I might even go far as to say that Adam is this generations Freddie Mercury, but with even more BALLS. Adam is up front about who he is, and will still blow your ass away with his vocals.  Times have changed, and artists go GLOBAL now, not just in the states. Looking to sell albums just in the states is very narrow minded.

  • http://twitter.com/nevada0one nevada01

Maybe this will help him in England, but I doubt most Americans have even heard of this festival, much less will take an interest in it.

This festival is not only a big deal in England but across Europe.  good thing for that reason that travel is so easy and quite common there…

Even if this festival doesn’t net Adam even one additional fan it’s an opportunity of a lifetime and something for him to be very proud about.

I bet his family is crapping themselves over it (judging by their faces when he performed with Queen on the AI finale anyway).

  • musicality

Oh silly Americans always thinking they are more important than they
really are even though they don’t even make up 4% of the world’s
population.  America has a total population of 312 million people
while Europe, of which the UK is part of, has an approx population of
    731 million people.

I totally agree. Mind you I’m American but I see that attitude all the time. You also see international sales and popularity totally dismissed as not important. It is the ugly American syndrome. A kind of myopia that is fairly unique to this country.

  • Dakota01

Actually several US radio stations have already tweeted the news.  You can also read about it at RollingStone, Billboard, Yahoo, MSN, USA Today, etc.

You’re right though. Most Americans probably haven’t heard of this festival, but with the U.S. media reporting the story, that’s very likely to change.

  • sf3456

Because I’ve heard of them before?  Because I like a couple of their songs?  Does that mean that I have to follow every single thing that they do?

  • http://twitter.com/nevada0one nevada01

Because I’ve heard of them before? Because I like a couple of their songs? Does that mean that I have to follow every single thing that they do?

Of course not.  But you seem to have a lot of opinions about artists you are barely interested in. You have commented about Adam Lambert and Queen.  You have commented about Cypress Hill.  You have commented about Lacuna Coil.  But you appear to have little interest in all of these artists.  Yet, here you are, commenting about a festival that features artists you have little interest in.  If you have an interesting, educated comment about the above artists, I would be interested in reading it.  You seem to be interested in Incubus, though.  I am sure they have a fan site that could suit your needs.

  • Anonymous

I still cannot get over how epic this must be for Brian and Roger, much less for Adam to be a part of it. Roger said this: “I remember Knebworth as being the most incredible gig, with the most amazing audience and the sound on stage was utterly perfect. It was a fitting last stand before a live audience for Freddie. It will be a real challenge to complete the circle by returning with Adam.”

It’s full circle for them, and like I said earlier, for them to say Freddie would approve of Adam, that to me is the most spectacular compliment. Adam has always said he doesn’t want to be Freddie, he’s just always idolized him, so to be asked to perform with and by the people who knew and loved him? Epic and quite the honor.

Adam’s probably having quite the fanboy moment just thinking about it.

Thanks!  I just checked the price of plane tickets so maybe not so credit card possible.  :(     So so so happy for Adam.  I would love to be there.

So so want to go to this.  But dang plane fare & hotels aren’t cheap in London during the summer.  Queen is my absolute favorite group ever and Adam is the first person that I ever wanted to see front them other than Freddie.  This is just awesome for Adam and a total win.

I don’t know if this year will be televised.  But VHI classic showed excerpts from 2011 Sonisphere this afternoon.  So there’s hope that we will get to see at least part of Queen + Adam.  Also, Palladia channel shows alot of concerts.  Yesterday, they showed the 2009 Glastonbury Festival ….followed by Queen Montreal  (Yeah!)

ETA: Also Palladia has replayed the EMA’s several times

You are correct. The European fans mentioned that Glastonbury was cancelled this year due to a time conflict with the Olympics and that because of this the 3 day attendance for Sonisphere is anticipated to exceed 200K – BTW Love this pic

OMG Squeeze!!!! so excited for Adam, what an amazing opportunity, can’t wait for video of this once in a life time performance!!! :)  Wonder if any of his family or friends will be able to make the trip, bet dadbert and Sauli would love to be there!

I always love the Adam conversations at MJ’s, as an Adam fan I believe he is a “Rock God”.  I love everything he does and think he should be the next GaGa or MJ or maybe the lead singer for Queen, ;) I also believe it’s good to be reminded that not everyone feels the same way that I do and that reality is found somewhere in the middle.

I don’t think performing with Queen will make Adam an overnight superstar, but it will get his name out there and bring him respect as an singer and performer. (IMHO  YMMV)

I think most of the people at the festival are there to enjoy the event, they are not necessarily there for just Queen or just Kiss or just Faith No More (who ever that is).  They, of course, may have a favorite band they want to see, and will check out other acts or head back to their tent if they aren’t interested.  Some folks will check Queen out because they love the music, some to see who the american bloke that is replacing Freddie and others will stay because they spent big bucks to be there and they have a good spot.  It’s not that deep!

  • Anonymous

I am pretty sure that Palladia will show Knebworth this year. I don’t think that they would miss opportunity to show Queen in concert.

  • Anonymous

Yes, there are people out there who don’t think much about Freddie and/or Queen just like there were people during the GrammyMs who didn’t know who Paul McCartney was. Ignorance is bliss I guess, but you sure miss some amazing things.

On another note, I love that Gene Simmons and Adam Lambert will be playing the same gig! I bet Gene will deny that he ever said a disparaging word about Adam (if his ego allows for him to remember who he is in the first place)

  • Anonymous

Wow.  I am thrilled for Adam but I would imagine the pressure is tremendous.  It’s one thing to do an 8 minute medley but an entire set of Queens greatest hits? In the place of their last show with Freddie, when there will be 20 billion people in the country because of the Olympics???  I think I should start praying for him.   Well, just kidding…sort of. lol.

Since Bowie never sang UP live with Queen while Freddie was alive (only with Annie Lennox at Freddie’s tribute) I doubt this could happen. And I think it might enrage some of the Queen purists if he did.

But, since Bowie has become somewhat of a recluse in recent years, I doubt it would happen anyway.

  • Anonymous

I agree with you 100%. Not only it was 8 minute medley, but it was also unanounced. Now everybody knows that he is going to perform a full set and judging started already. I hope that Adam will not read any comments on gazillion of boards, because anonymous hate knows no limits…
On the other hand Adam thrives on challenge and performance in the front of the living audience…

  • cwm

You know, I was just reminded of something that Adam said in one of the bazillion interviews he’s done in the past 3 weeks. When asked why he tried out for Idol, he said because he wanted to get out of the back row of the chorus of Wicked and be out front.

Wow, has he ever. Now he’s out in front for a full set with QUEEN. You go Adam! I love seeing talented people’s dreams come true.

  • Miss Chaos

Yes I thought the same thing, we should start praying and worrying for Adam, someone has to do it.  We need to worry about his hair, hope its not to short, nor Lego haircut, worry what he will wear, worry that he wont get sick, and worry his voice will sound good, and worry that he will not forget any words.
God I dont know how I will get thru these next few months, and be able to sleep.  How did I get so involved with someone I dont even know!!!lololol

Great opportunity for Adam. I hope it will help him to sell his music, or if this doesn’t happen, he could tour with Queen for a while.

  • watt

I had tears thinking back to the day I was a HUGE fan of Queen and how I loved and adored all four of them.  Adam has not yet graced this world and I could not foresee the future that one day there would be a young and talented singer whom I love dearly as much as I loved Queen. Queen is still my most favorite band of all time and having Adam do the full concert with them is incredible.  I’m sure Adam will make Freddie proud.

Thanks for the pics, weelassie. I love the first one. Captures my mood today perfectly.

Haven’t listened myself but I’ve heard that Roger Taylor mentions a couple of “practice shows” in Moscow prior to the Knebworth gig.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01c6dt5/The_Chris_Evans_Breakfast_Show_21_02_2012/

Excellent idea – work out the kinks and get comfortable with each other.  I’m so excited for this – cannot wait to add to my Queen & Adam playlist!

  • Anonymous

oooh, so excited…..just booked saturday tickets for Knebworth!!!!

  • Anonymous

OMG, it really does sound like they might do a couple of gigs in Russia prior to Knebworth! Could it be Maxidrome Festival that Adam played last year?

  • Anonymous

What I love about this Queen situation is that this is a nod to Adam’s vocal and performance talent completely outside the Idol community. Kind of like Jennifer Hudson’s Oscar. Even though Adam’s first single is struggling, in the long run I believe this era will be very successful even if he has to go a different route. Adam DIDN’T NEED US radio to get this gig, but he is getting and will continue to get huge exposure because of this. Some of this exposure WILL contribute to sales and promotion of his own music on an international level the likes of which you don’t ever see from a reality show contestant. Radio may still be a tough nut to crack for Adam but this kind of puts him beyond radio and it may take more time but the day will come that he just can’t be ignored. Thank you Brian and Roger for this priceless opportunity! Can’t wait to watch the videos, interviews and promotion for this on top his own album promotion!

  • Anonymous

It is definitely a good idea since singing other peoples songs is Adam’s forte. Tacky for sure; but touring with Paul Rodgers was tacky. Regardless, I think it is good for Adam, it primes him for Galileo Figaro and I suspect that is Brian and Roger’s true agenda: to move WWRY to Broadway.

  • iani

Just great news for Adam, hope there are more concerts this summer and he wins over the skeptical Q/others fans that he is one of the best fit for the band. This has been a  fan-vote from some weeks ago, but they have updated it with the news of the real “winner” in the headline(Adam’s name was not mentioned there like last week) http://goo.gl/TemDY .
Hopefully Adam has a new single soon and the new album by July, his music should be ready to join the promo and media attention with him fronting the band.

  • gferna

Adam tweeted to his haters:”Haters: y’all just adding fuel to my fire! U make me work harder. Thank you for the motivation.” LOL…
It is incredible the way entertainment industry works nowadays.
    Adam, go get them!

  • Anonymous

MJ Thank you so much for giving us this thread, and for your guidance how to recognize and treat TROLLS..

  • Anonymous

I read on a rock site that Queen is getting a lot of hate throw their way for this, but is Adam too?  That’s a shame.  Haters will get over it. Eventually.

  • Anonymous

Wonder if he will wear the elevator boots or whatever you call them (8 inches high!)

  • Anonymous

Yes he is. He tweeted that the haters are only fueling his fire and that it will only make him work harder! It just sickens me that people can be so cruel! This is a proud moment for Adam and instead he has this weighing on him.

  • LaurelG

This is incredible.  It just continues to solidify Adam’s reputation as a singer with the VOICE.  I love the fact that this will give him wonderful exposure, that his name is right there on the poster.  Even though I listen almost exclusively to Pop and want him to succeed in his Pop career, I also love these classic rock songs and how well they suit Adam’s voice and range.

At the end of the day, Adam’s talent is just too big to ever be dependent on any one single or any one blip in his career.  Like a line graph, it may not be a perfectly straight line at every point; there will always be a few downturns and slight drops.  But overall … his career is on the rise … a steady climb upwards.

  • Avari

IMO, backlash from  queen purists saying “how dare that second rate karaoke singer step into Freddie’s shoes” is sort of reasonable…because that’s a fair question if they aren’t familiar with him. And of course we know he’s gonna show the world just how damned good he is.  (I CAN’T WAIT!!!)

But it’s the homophobic hatred and horrifying filth that gets tweeted to Adam on a regular basis, not to mention the comments posted about him on any media site that mentions him, that breaks my heart. It’s just nauseating.

Adam knows how to deal with the hatred thrown at him just fine. I wish I knew how to deal with it as well as he does.

  • http://twitter.com/OneTwoDoseyDoe Roger Kramjet

The haters will not weigh Adam down. Speaking as a gay man I know that the haters in this world make us stronger. Once you get out of high school and learn that you can stand on your own proudly all the haters do is teach you lessons about humor and compassion because, for the most part, they are sad, longely, desperate people trolling around saying negative things about people… Who wants to live like that?

  • sdmama

I am not worried. I remember how people hated Daniel Craig for taking over James Bond role without even seeing it. Everybody started singing different tune as soon as the movie came out.  I am sure many will change their mind once they actually hear Adam sings. I believe in him.

Some will remain haters no matter what because either Freddie is sacred or they don’t like Adam for some reason, or refuse to listen to what Adam does.  You cannot please everybody. At least, I hope that homophobia is not the reason this time, considering these haters presumably are fan of Freddie, right?

  • Anonymous

Adam will be fine.  I have seen some comments from people who are upset with Queen, simply because they think Adam is too pop, and came from a singing competition show.  They don’t think he belongs with Queen.  It’s the same old stigma in the rock world that Idols face.  I haven’t seen a single comment on his personal life or singing ability, just that they don’t like the type of music he sings and think he doesn’t belong with Queen.  He will show them he is capable of this if he just keeps focused and doesn’t let them get him down.  Unfortunately in the rock world, Idols have to be twice as good to prove themselves just because of where they came from.  But I have confidence in Adam. I really like rock music (it’s my favorite genre), but when it comes down to it, a lot of the rock world are really snobs that look down on most other types of music.

If anybody hears anything about possible shows in Russia before Sopnisphere yell. Rumors abound after Brian May interview on BBC 1.

  • gferna

This event will take place in July (within 5 months)!!!  And everybody is up in arms!!!  I am pretty sure Queen anticipated this scenario and they were like YESSS!!! it’s a gold mine right before our eyes.  I think that event will sell like crazy, which is good for Adam, actually.  And the press will want their piece of the cake.  At the end, nobody loses, I think.  Maybe some haters will be converted, hardcore ones, no matter this performance, never will be with Adam, anyways.  So, what the heck.  The most important piece of all (his voice) WILL be with him.  Yes, its gonna be crazy, can’t wait!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_ACMLXLYSSX73RNYQOUZWSO2I4U Enough already!

This should put a crimp in those who publicly said this wouldn’t happen.    Are we eating our words about now?

  • mmb

There have always been a vocal group of Queen fans who believe the group should have died with Freddie. They didn’t like Paul Rodgers, they wouldn’t like anyone who sings with Brian and Roger if they continued to use the Queern name. Nothing to do with Adam. Now, being American, relatively unknown in the UK from a reality tv show and 30 years younger ( eg not on equal footing with them) adds even more fuel to their fire. Add in the Marc Martel fanatics and you have a good old toxic brew of negativity. None of this is a surprise to Brian and Roger. I’m sure they prepared Adam. Regardless, I’m sure there will be a ton of tickets sold, a ton of articles written, Adam will be amazing and a great time will be had by all.

  • cwm

Yes, I agree, mmb. I expect that Brian, Roger, and Adam did anticipate a mixed brew of reactions. I hope they’re having a good time laughing about all the pissing and moaning and using it as motivation to get their game on. While the rest of us who have good sense are excited as all get out and are making plans to get our asses to Knebworth (either actually or virtually).

I thought it was interesting to hear Roger talking in the BBC interview about the fact that he expects to be a little nervous because this return to Knebworth is a big deal for Brian and him, how they’ll warm up with some shows in Moscow, and that they may well have additional “special guests” besides Adam at Knebworth.

  • Anonymous

I saw one comment on the Rolling Stone Article and all they said was “Sonisqueer”.  Adam is getting it from both sides.  Those that are Freddy purists and those that are homophobes.  It’s a tough place to be in but Adam is a fighter.

  • mmb

Fwiw there have also been a lot of very positive comments from Queen fans – its not all negativity at all. Lots of fans think its great that Brian and Roger are keeping the flame alive, are looking forward to seeing them and think that Adam is a terrific choice ( and/or are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt).
This is hardly a “poor Adam” moment. This is a dream gig. I hardly think he’s ( or roger or Brian) is gonna let some Internet comments ruin his day

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m hoping for more than that.  I’m hoping that Queen with Adam will be televised and we’ll get a video of that.  :)

  • newinNM

The peeps bi$ching and moaning are not going to shell out the money to see this show anyway!  As I said in an earlier post the people there are there to enjoy the event, see some of their favorite bands and take in a few other acts as well.  Most everyone in the crowd will be singing and clapping along because that’s what you do to Queens music! Any die hard Queen fan with half a brain (and is at the show) know if they want to see this band live again someone has to sing lead or it won’t be much of a show!  Some will enjoy the show some won’t and some will be to drunk to remember!

I am actually looking forward to the Moscow gigs a lot. We got some pretty good video from Maxidrome last year and Adam has a lot of fans in Russia. I heard somewhere they were looking at a club theater gig also. This is going to be so good!

I gotta say if RCA doesn’t know how to take advantage of FREE publicity Adam hands them to work with they are fools!

  • Anonymous

You know what? With this gig, Mr. Lambert will be truly out of the AI bubble. Love him or hate him, on July 7th, the world will listen attentively…

Almost everybody and every group has some BSC fans who need not be taken seriously.  I think some of them believe Bryan and Roger should have killed themselves when Freddie died or certainly should have ceased performing.  Well, they are as much Queen as Freddie was.  In fact, they were there before he even joined the group.  As for homophobes, they are unfortunately always around.  But their hateful efforts to destoy Adam will probably succeed only in winning him more fans.  Many sensible people will want to ally themselves with whatever person or group those low-life bigots are against.

Blessings and gratitude about the Queen News:-)

As I have always said Adam will have work from the UK first hopefully a domino effect will trigger into ”auto-trendy” radio USA and other parts of the world. They will have to take notice:-)

I pray that RCA knows how to capitalise on the exposure with Queen and other big performances. Or do they want to employ me! LOL :)

The Brilliance of #Trespassing is a memoir and a statement about the challenges and celebration Adam faces in the so called ”normal hetrosexual” world. If handle with grace Adam will break barriers:-)

    AMEN!

    Till them

Those who’s talking homophobe about Adam’s DEFINITELY don’t know Freddie or NOT his fans. I love Freddie, but I think it’s stupid this Freddie purist thinking that Brian & Roger had to just retired when Freddie died, did these people stay at home and didn’t do anything when their spouse or someone they care for died? Nope they pick themself up and do things they love to do and enjoy their life again. That’s what Brian & Roger do, Freddie’s always special for them but their live don’t stop and doesn’t mean that they have to stop making or creating music the minute Freddie died.

  • Anonymous

Who is to say that these so called “Queen” fans are really Queen fans.  Could be the same bigots that have spilled their hatred all over the web and just now using a different agenda to voice their hatred.  If they are Queen fans I would say they ignored the fact that Freddie was gay too.  I almost feel sorry for these small minded people that have nothing in their small lives then to transmit their ignorance and project that fact.  In the end, Adam will prevail and what will these hateful people have to show for their 15 seconds of fame, a long forgotten post.

  • Anonymous

I didn’t hear anything in Roger Taylor’s remark about Moscow that it included Adam.  He talked about them (which I thought meant him and Brian) might have to get loosen up.  I hope it includes Adam because that would be great for him but we will probably find out some time soon if it does or does not.

  • Anonymous

Actually they are called medges and made by Rick Owens.  They are a suede knee high boot that sold for $2,400.  This is probably what they look like or is the same one.  http://www.oki-ni.com/invt/ro0658blk

  • Anonymous

Maybe not, now that you mention it, but it makes sense that Adam would need to practice for this gig too, he is going to be their main singer. They can’t wing it like they did for the EMAs. That was a medley of just 3 songs, this is supposed to be a full set. We shall see, but I would not be surprised to see Adam in Moscow.

  • Anonymous

I agree as they will have to have someone sing with the band and singing the songs will be good practice for the Sonisphere.  I wonder if Roger was talking about the Moscow event that Adam was at last year.  If it is, that would definitely be interesting to see the reaction as they were also a hard rock/metal crowd like the Sonisphere will be.  I remember some of the hardcore metal fans were impressed along with some of the different reporters.  Well, anyway I am hoping you are right as it could mean good videos like there was last year.

  • Anonymous

I imagine Adam will be in Russian for practice sessions with the band.  It would make no sense to practice for a giant gig and not have the singer who is in fact new to the group.  Adam would want to do this because he seems like a team player and the more international exposure he gets the better.  With U.S. radio being what it unfortunately is, I think his future will be more and more on the international stage. Thank goodness for Queen.

Adam is a phenomenon in so many ways.  One which I find so amazing is how his life is riddled with events so astounding that it seems as if the universe is unfolding as it should for him.  If Adam was a movie, it would be an epic film with full-circle moments, serendipity, poetic license, and irony.  Remember the full-circle moment with Paula Abdul with whom he first auditioned with AI and whose concert was Adam’s first; then, Adam’s auditioning AI with Bohemian Rhapsody will come full circle when he will certainly sing this number with the Sonisphere coming up.  In full display of serendipity, Adam’s musing of finding his love riding on a Viking ship, in the northern lights in the Arctic circle” became true with his accidental meeting with soulmate Sauli, a Finn who had actually worked in a Viking Cruise ship.  During AI’s finale, Gene Simmons remarked that Adam ruined his career by coming out, and guess who is now going to be eating crow when the Kiss bumps head with Queen’s Adam?  Finally, how ironic is it that ”Whataya want from me” just happened to be the single to follow his controversial AMA performance as the perfect answer to the question.  The way Adam’s life is unfolding, when it will be made into a movie, there will be no need for any embellishments to enhance his story.  It will be sufficient unto itself, like the true artist that he is.

  • asifclueless

     atomom … Love your post.
    Totally agree with you.
I can’t express my thoughts of Adam’s life like you do.

My heart is pounding, I’m reading on twitter that Adam will be performing with Queen at the Olympics. OMG I hope it’s true.

  • mmb

I doubt the fan speculation/wishful thinking re Adam/queen Olympics are true. 1) there has been no indication Queen will be involved with opening or closing ceremonies, 2) in general Olympic performers are citizens of the Olympic host country, 3) blur has already been announced as a main performer at closing ceremonies. It would be fun to see it happen, but I think there is probably zero percent of it happening. But the fan chatter in twitter will prolly continue right through the summer regardless

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_MV64BS4FSISCASL4P656RXAFYQ Kayla

I doubt the fan speculation/wishful thinking re Adam/queen Olympics are true.

I agree. At this point it is only fan wishful thinking, and there is really no indication at all that Queen is even one of the acts playing the event, let alone that Adam would be involved. Twitter chatter is not exactly a reliable source.
