Adam Lambert to Host VH1 Divas Live 2012 Feat Demi, Jordin Sparks and More

Adam Lambert called into VH1 Big Morning Buzz this morning to make a big announcement on VH1  today. He’ll be hosting VH1 Divas Live 2012. It’s a club tribute to Donna Summers and Whitney Houston and  features performances from himself, Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks.

NEW YORK, NY –November 8, 2012 – VH1’s beloved, popular franchise VH1 Divas is throwing the hottest dance party of 2012 LIVE on Sunday, December 16 at 9PM/8c with Grammy Award-nominated host Adam Lambert. This year’s show will celebrate the dance-inducing music that is the vibrant soundtrack to every major blowout bash, unforgettable party and night out on the town. VH1 is bringing together Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks to pay homage to the greatest divas of dance music with performances featuring current and classic dance hits.

“This is going to be one hell of a party! We are extremely thrilled to have the extraordinarily talented Adam Lambert as our 2012 VH1 Divas host,” says Lee Rolontz, EVP, Original Music Production & Development, VH1 and VH1 Classic. “The world has truly been inspired by dance music and what better way for VH1 to pay tribute than by honoring legends Whitney Houston and Donna Summer through song and dance.”

VH1 Divas will bring together some of today’s hottest recording artists for the years biggest dance party. In the spirit of celebration and appreciation VH1 Divas will include a tribute to two divas we lost this past year, whose voices always lead us straight to the dance floor, Whitney Houston and Donna Summer.

As in previous years, this edition of VH1 Divas will benefit the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping music education alive in American public schools. To date, VH1 Save The Music has provided more than $49.5 million in new musical instruments to 1,850 public schools in more than 128 school districts around the country, impacting the lives of over 2.1 million children.     Yes exactly….We have to look at the big picture…This is an amazing opppotunity for Adam and he must feel honoured to have been asked to host.  So happy for him…HOSTING and PERFORMING……YES!!!!!!!

    The show is called DIVAS for a reason, it’s not called these girls are the best we could come up with because the Beyonce’s of this world were busy. It’s great Adam is hosting and performing, but you need some female talent that people actually think are DIVAS. Right now, all you got is a lot of wannabes.

    But I thought it’s not the complete list of performers? So, maybe Christina Aguilera will be available and could perform. And as someone has pointed out maybe it is a show tribute to Divas. Give these youngsters a chance maybe they’ll surprise us. I liked Miley’s performance of ‘the climb’ in AI and it surprised me because I hadn’t thought she could be that good vocally. So…

    sometimes the show line-up is terrific, sometimes not so much.  I doubt they think they should re-name or cancel the show on the years when the line-up isn’t top of the top.  They also seem to be purposely focussing on younger female artist this year.  Maybe vh1 is looking to expand its viewership to a younger demographic. Or maybe the biggest names turned them down this year (although it would surprise me if they had trouble booking talent for the show given the big names they have had in past years – they’ve never had much trouble in the past).   I dunno.   They will clearly be announcing more performers over the ensuing weeks — they always do.  Regardless, this is a great, fun gig for Adam.

    No one is talking about re-naming or canceling the show, but all I’m saying is they can do better than what they have announced so far. Sorry, but Demi, Miley and Jordin are not exactly the cream of the crop, not matter what demographic your going for. Jordin is nice, but she’s like a poor man’s version of Jennifer Hudson. She lacks personality and brings new to the table.

    This announcement received so much media buzz yesterday.  I don’t recall seeing in any of the buzz that the “divas” weren’t the cream of the crop.  LOL! Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion.  For me personally, I don’t care who they choose as “divas”.  I’m going to enjoy watching Adam hosting and performing.  This is a really big  opportunity for him.

    Such great news. Have to be honest I have never heard of this concert, but it sounds like a pretty big deal and any chance of Adam to be on TV in the US is a good thing. Hope all us overseas fans get to see it too.

    I am looking forward to Adam hosting VH1′s Divas.  If there is a male singer who can give the female Diva’s a run for their money it is Adam.  I would love to hear Adam duet with Xtina, Pink, Mariah, Rhianna, etc. 

    He could definately hold his own.

    I bought one (1) VH1 Divas ticket for $300.  Includes premium seating and afterparty admission. I can’t go.  If anyone is interested, I would sell it for $200.
