Awwww! I love cute, just awake Adam I’m guessing this is just a snippet of the interview. I’m sure Oprah will at least say good-bye, and it just ended too abruptly. Plus, they’re not going to show the whole thing. They want everyone to watch Oprah today, which I will be doing!!

I can’t wait for him to be on the show for a whole hour either!!!!

G.O.D., ADORBS, as usual. He’s so happy and sweet and enthusiastic, yet thoughtful ‘“ it’s incredibly infectious. And his eyes and smile are magnetic ‘“ also as usual. Knew he’d be on “Oprah” ‘“ it was just a matter of when.

Adam is grinning from ear to ear, looks exactly like a kid in a candy store. Plus Oprah more or less invited him back sometime in the future to perform! I’m really happy for him.

I love when she asks him if he’ll come back and perform after his album drops. The look of surprise/delight on his face when he says, “I hope so, yes” and when she says she’ll hold him to that…OMG..too cute!!!!

Adam is so endearing here. I’m happy this will air today amidst all the album cover hoopla and show a side of Adam that is not OTT, wild etc… but just a charming guy wanting to live his dream.

And I’m sure he does have to pinch himself. Not only recording an album but recording material by some on his favorite people in the business. Really must feel like a dream come true for him. So happy for him.

Emo Adam!Hair. I love this guy. How enthusiastic is he? I hope he always keeps this sense of joy; I hope he never gets jaded (I don’t think he will). I want more! (And I want to see him on Oprah for a full-interview in the worst way. I hope it happens after the album drops. I think he’s going to have a lot of interviews in December and thereafter.

IDF Adam section had a thread for the poll long ago. I knew about the poll, but iirc there were some restrictions so that I didn’t vote.

I really don’t care how he got on there, I’m just glad he did. As the experts told us in the sales thread yesterday, Adam has a really small core fanbase, so I’m sure there had to be some outside votes too.

I’m thrilled he was on the show and really excited that Oprah said he was “dynamic and compelling” in all his performances. What a treat for him!

MJ–Thanks for the Oprah clip. I’m not a big Oprah fan but will watch the show today hoping the interview will be a little longer. His ‘postive energy’ always makes me smile when he does interviews. Hope this will give his music sales a boost.

During the Randy/Adam part, Oprah asked Randy if he was surprised Adam didn’t win and he said “yes,” although he also said they all thought it would be close. Then she pitched the question to Adam and he repeated that they all figured it would be close. Adam then praised Kris’s talent and referred to him as his “buddy” or something and said that he (Adam) got what he wanted — which was to make an album — so it’s all good.

ETA: Did not hear the birthday comment so I’m guessing it was while the cameras weren’t rolling or it was cut.

Thank you for posting this video, I was running late for work trying to get a chance to see Adam Lambert on the Oprah Winfrey Show. I thought he would actually be performing on her show, but the interview was great, he looks so sweet and I love his smile. True, I love Adam, but I do not like his new album cover, so much. I hope it is only one side of him and that future album covers will be reflective of the many styles he introduced us to while on American Idol.

He can be fierce, humble, sexy. Oh, and his voice is literally out of this world. What else can you want?

Christian Siriano and Adam are in a YT vid at some club Adam was doing a promo for. I don’t know if anyone remembers it, but people were in costume there. It’s possible that Adam had not been introduced to Christian at that point.

During the tour, Christian tweeted Adam that his mom (Christian’s) loved him and he had to buy her tickets to the Idol show. When someone tweeted Christian about designing something for Adam, he said he’d love to.

Truthiness - I second all of this Was just commenting to a friend about how I can still be so fascinated by Adam because he has so many different, often conflicting sides, and they all come out at rather unexpected times – love it!

But I think that this was two different things that happened on Oprah.com.

1. They had a question on Oprah.com “Who is you favorite reality show star?” To respond, you had to register on the site, verifiy you registration with an e-mail and complete a fairly lengthy form including name, address, contact info, and why _____ was your favorite reality TV Star. This occurred before they booked Adam.

2. Question for Adam and Audience Tickets: The Oprah Show has a section on Oprah.com for audience tickets, to request a guest and explain why you want that guest to be on the show, and to suggest questions for an upcoming guest. You can recommend guest to the show in the section.

After Adam was scheduled to appear on the show, and for maybe 2 days, Oprah.com had an Adam Lambert page where you could request audience tickets and submit questions. Some people who requested tickets and suggested questions were contacted by the show and asked follow-up questions.

I read somewhere he will be at the premiere of 2012 next week – another red carpet possibility. Not sure if they televise movie premieres but I am sure there will lots of photos. When I first heard about this segment, I thought how appropriate for Adam to be named favorite reality show contestant, and to appear on Oprah to talk about being a reality tv star. There are so many other reality show stars that Adam reminds me of like Ryan and Trista, the difference is that Adam actually has talent. Maybe one day he’ll get some attention for that, and not just for being a celebrity.

What I love is that he made sure to compliment Kris on his talent in the segment when they asked him about not winning. Very sweet. Just like always, he didn’t imply that Kris won or got attention for any other reason than he was talented. How refreshing!!!

Yes, but with the celebs she often goes 2 in one day. Or has them on her Friday Live show, where they sit there for the hour like part of the panel and join the discussion. Which Adam could do really well. And then he’d close out the show with a song.

Hugh Jackman did Friday panel. Sat between Oprah and Nate Berkus, Oprah’s very cute designer guy. Both of them beamed in visible “You are so delicious” appreciation of Mr. Jackman the whole time. Nate kept commenting on how he had never seen Oprah like this. And, apparently, after the show, Oprah and Hugh were going to have lunch. That’s what they called it: Lunch.

I was thinking making FYE title track the first song off the album is a smart move especially with that bootleg album coming out. This way people not to familiar with the behind the scenes crap would get the right album if they find themselves liking the song and want to know what else Adam has to offer.

mrskiddens- i just watched it- there is a little bit more on the actual show. They show the BTBW performance clip, and Adam also introduces Randy Jackson.

As far as Adam’s band- I just think they are getting musicians together for his tour. I know there was a tweet last week from Monte Pittman that he was learning the chord progression for TFM, so he’s probably in the band, and there was some talk about auditions.

Just watched the Adam interview on Oprah. He was great! Did anyone else notice that Oprah said about 4 times about him being on the show and at the end of her conversation with him said “We will see you on the show when the Album comes out.” or something very similar. It seemed as if she was practically confirming he will be on her show at the end of November. (please please please let this be true)…. Loved his shout out to Kris and his response to not winning….”I got what I wanted and that was to make an Album”

But I think that this was two different things that happened on Oprah.com.

1. They had a question on Oprah.com ‘Who is you favorite reality show star?’  To respond, you had to register on the site, verify your registration with an e-mail and complete a fairly lengthy form including name, address, contact info, and why _____ was your favorite reality TV Star. This occurred before they booked Adam.

I do remember this and I did not get from this question that it was a poll or contest to see who would be asked on Oprah. I thought they were just trying to get questions to different reality tv stars and would have different ones on not necessarily the one with the most request. I don’t think anyone stuffed the ballots as it where. I think the regular Oprah audience loves Adam and honestly I think Oprah does too.

That is so cool. You know, Randy did an article for People magazine for the 35th anniversary on the trailblazers of music for the last 35 years. I was really pretty impressed with his picks for a whole variety of subgenres.

I don’t quite understand the consternation with Adam being on Oprah as a result of an online email poll. Previous idols are pretty much out of the reality show genre…they have been out in the real worl for over a year. And, based on Kris’ slow start (hopefully his real world gigs and radio spins will speed up his recognition factor) he hasn’t yet built up an “out of idol” fan base.

As has been said, many times, Adam is getting press and attention and this probably spilled over into Oprah’s fan base. The people who took the time to respond are probably “into” Adam and really wanted to see him on the show. I don’t think this in anyway reflects poorly on any other idols, it was just a real nice 5 minutes for Adam. And hopefully, like DC before him, it will turn into some “real” time with Oprah.

Ok on the Billboard Charts, a week or so ago, placement on the Billboard charts in general was really important. Debut placement was a big deal too. I am assuming Adam placing #21 is big! But, for comparisons sake, where did the two Davids and Kris place on the chart after the first week?

I am always in awe how well Adam conducts himself during interviews. He seems to know just the perfect way to respond to questions. This is truly a gift. Did any of you catch when Randy mouthed “such a nice guy” when they left Adam to go to the commercial break? I loved that!

Who cares about this online poll? I agree, Tess. And I wanted to note again that my Thesis Adviser for my MFA, Andre Dubus III, went on Oprah because his novel, Night of Sand and Fog, was chosen as the book of the month, and sells of the book shot through the roof. Not too many people wield more influence than she does. When Adam is Oprah again, he will charm the pants off her and the audience (did you hear the applause and he was on SKYPE?) and his album sales will reflect this. If someone doesn’t know who Adam is before the next Oprah appearance, they sure will afterward. Wow.

So amazingly, Oprah had the pudgy, homely looking real Adam on her show, not the overly made up woman that is on his album cover.

His song “Time For Miracles” debuted at #50 on the Billboard 100 with one third the sales of David A’s first actual single.

Didn’t Oprah have Fantasia on as part of the “Colour Purple”? Oprah is involved with that musical/movie and I seem to recall that Fantasia sang one of the songs from the musical on the show.

Gotta agree, except she obviously was not able to get him to Chicago to tape this show live. Maybe she was as much talking to his people, saying it again and again, to get him scheduled earlier rather than later.

As far as Adam hitting more talk shows – we have covered the safe to say Nov/Dec Oprah, and the maybe tweet Ellen but I think TPTB at 19E are playing the ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ game with Adam.

Since he can’t sing For Your Entertainment live until Nov. 22nd at the AMAs (debut performance) he shouldn’t be rehashing old songs and in IMO shouldn’t be singing TFM unless it suddenly gets great radio play.

If anything after the single comes out (next week, squeeee) he could be on ANYTHING as a guest – we know the man can talk – and listen to snippets of For your Entertainment.

BUT I REALLY think they will do a less is more approach and let him ride the red carpet/special appearance route and talk/strut his way to the AMAs.

I could imagine plenty of radio interviews where playing the recording of For Your Entertainment is very appropriate, starting with either Z100 or Ryan’s TOP 40.

Speaking as someone who loves disaster flicks….I’m pretty sure it’s going to suck. Either that or they’ve got an idiot designing the trailers. That said, I still enjoy bad disaster flicks. I just make sure to hit the theatre for the Tuesday matinee (half-price day).

What fan base?

No, I totally agree. TPTB have very gradually grown the Adam movement. There was some early leakage of TfM, but NOTHING on the album (except that song), and that’s pretty remarkable, IMO. In fact, we still do not know the entire set list for sure (I don’t think) and aside from knowing the title track and hearing Muse’s demo for Soaked, there has been nothing released, aside from a couple of interviews (EW and Lyndsey at Yahoo Music) that describe some of the songs. So it’s sort of a slow burn, and it makes fans want more and more (like now, for example). I do expect a media blitz come 11/22 (AMAs), b/c the album gets released on the 23rd and the GMA is on the 24th. That’s when you will get radio interviews, television interviews, appearances, etc., which we haven’t had before. Fans are chomping at the bit, but I think it makes sense in Adam’s case, because he *is* performing his song for the first time at the AMA’s. But we should get the single release by Monday, three weeks before the album drops, and maybe leakage before that.

I agree, and am totally fine with that. Well of course in part because I’m not terribly fond of the song, and in part because it was always supposed to be a tool to promote the film and could have muddied the water for his real single. Which I do want to come out soon and do well. And I want Adam back on Oprah when his album drops, because yes, Oprah has like special powers when it comes to people on her show.

Oh and I thought Adam in all his pudgy homely glory, or as I like to call it, fresh faced and cute as a button, was just fine, but what do I know? Oh well, different strokes n’all.

Yes, Randy did seem to mouth, “nice guy” to Oprah. So nice to have someone who is truly talented, and who is both articulate and personable during interviews.

I wasn’t sure how much Oprah knew of Adam as she asked him things many of his fans already knew, like what he did before going on AI. It is an honor to appear on Oprah, (be voted #1 reality personality by her viewers), and then to be asked to come sing on her show! Oprah is the most powerful, influencial women in the world after all!

I don’t love when Adam (Randy, or anyone else) is asked about why Adam didn’t win. It puts them all in a bad position and I feel bad for Kris when the question is posed. However, I think Adam answered the question well.

OMG! Adam just went up to #2 on Movers and Shakers with a 300% increase in sales. AND he is up to #2 on top sellers. Wow! just Wow!

Well, my new office has a window, tho not like the three I have in this one (yep, spoiled). Since you all have to sit at drafting tables/cubicles, I am not one to complain.

And in the new office, I have every intention of putting Adam pics all over the walls. I tried to be professional in this one–screw that.

I, myself, have stockpiled batteries for my hearing aids.

He has moved up 7 places to 43 on the itune Canada pop chart in the last hour too.

BTW, I’m not saying he was too busy or booked or what have you. I’m assuming that everyone agreed the time and expense to be in Chicago to tape a 4 minute appearance wasn’t worth it.

If Adam were on the show it would have been for more than 4 minutes. As the #1 requested reality star, he would have gotten at least as much time as the others. Adam’s people probably requested the Skype.

I was wondering if the album would shoot back up thanks to Oprah. Yep, it did!

It appears every season’s idol winner and others have been on Oprah, so it may not be anything out of the ordinary. I’m still thrilled for Adam to go on her show, and charm her and us. She already seems to adore him, but again, maybe she adores all the idols who have been on her show.

Ya know…if Adam’s musical career tanks…he could make a fortune “teaching” people how to be a good interviewee. You can say what you will about his voice and his music (and his album cover) but other than calling me entitled and smelly he hasn’t made many a misstep while speaking publicly…and I (though others maybe can) can’t remember an interviewer not being charmed by him. That is a real gift.

Seriously impressive Oprah effect. ITA that lots of her viewers must have just remembered liking him on AI and scurried over to order his album. I think there is a lot of overlap in the demographics of these two shows.

Didn’t Oprah have Fantasia on as part of the ‘Colour Purple’ ? Oprah is involved with that musical/movie and I seem to recall that Fantasia sang one of the songs from the musical on the show.

She did! And, I’m not sure if this counts, but during Season 6, she had the Top 6 on the show to promote Idol Gives Back. She really is a fan of the show. Although, I’ve never seen her fangirl since Ruben. I think she keeps her favorites to herself, now.

His recent sales jump was helped by twitter further spending the news and video of his Oprah appearance, just following his cover release and Adam’s twitter record news….

As far as TFM is concerned, it was recorded for the movie, when the movie comes out, it will be played every day, several times daily in thousands of theaters around the world.

Great timing, too, as it will increase his name and voice recognition even more leading to the AMA’s and release of his album- timing really is perfect…

Please tell me that the canvas with the endless scalloped rows of single female breasts U-U-U-U-U all one by one in row after row, in a variety of color outlines and round circles with dots in the middle of each loopy U, that someone posted here sometime or another, was not about comparing female nipples to pearls in an oyster. This must be other work.

I think BTBW was probably suggested by Team Adam to Oprah. At the beginning of AI tour, Adam once said that if there was an AI performance that was close to his coming album it would be BTBW. I love BTBW and think it’s underrated. There was electric element in the song (which was not well executed in AI studio) and I love the bouncy dancy feel of it. Adam’s performance was joyful and interestingly there were strings in the live performance.

People have I think gotten over their adverse reaction, if they had any in the first place, to the album cover. I’m thinking more and more that that cover choice was brilliant, not a mistake at all. Maybe people are realizing that the cover was Photoshop, not Adam. But as someone said I think on the EW site, Adam isn’t androgynous on the cover — Joey Tempest of Europe is androgynous — the image on the cover is almost that of a pre-op after a year’s worth of hormone shots. But it doesn’t seem to matter at all!

Unfortunately the Oprah bump also lifted the hi-fi demo track CD at Amazon. I saw it at #1 on the Movers and Shakers list a bit ago, just above FYE. Ugh!

I hope it was just a few folks who will come to their senses and cancel their preorders.

I saw Take One at #1 too. Not sure if it is people thinking that is his new album or just people that want both!
