Adam Lambert talks about what his life has been like in the three years since he first competed on American Idol in this new interview for The F Word. Specially, Adam describes what it’s been like getting accustomed to fame, including losing his privacy, suddenly being viewed as a role model for the LGBT community and the struggle to control his image.

Near the end of the interview, Adam talks about meeting American Idol fans in the street who say things like “Oh we loved you! Like it’s past tense–like I’m dead.” It’s a fascinating look at what it’s like to achieve and manage instant fame.

I have to give credits to his parents as well. Adam is so well grounded.
His parents give him unconditioned love.

I feel the warmth and pride from Adam when he talks about his fans.

YAY … He calls us “protective sistas”  :)

Yes, little bro … we’ve got your back covered.”

Love this interview. Love the look. Love the ability to express oneself so well. Love everything he said. Loved him on Idol. Still love him today. Loved being able to see this interview on my big screen TV. Love having 15 minutes of him talking. Love that he knows I’ve got his back.

I think I read he was the first F-Word for Music Choice. Love that too!

You know what I like about this interview?  It’s more than just 30-seconds on a single topic.  So many interviews (with anyone, not just Adam) are so superficial.  Nobody gets to say more than a topic paragraph about anything.  Unless it’s a funny story and then they might get a minute.

It’s nice to hear someone get to reflect on their experience.  I guess if you’re going to let a celebrity talk for an extended period of time, the common experience they’ll all have (that is unique to celebrity) is being famous.

But I’ll bet there’s a lot more things Adam (or any other successful musician) could speak about that would be just as interesting.

ADAM has been blessed so overwhelmingly with explosion of phenomenal talents, stunning beauty in and out, golden heart and enlightened soul. And yet so humble and gracious, so authentic and genuine as a person and a remarkable piece of humanity. I can’t find fault with this man who is such a master communicator. He can be anything he wants to be. Most of all, he is truly a kind  gentle soul. It’s no wonder he is so much loved by his so dedicated and intense loyalists. I am one of them and a fan for life.

    Evening All,

Intelligence is power! Thats our Adam:-)

AI is one thing and the real world another-its transitional with public expectations.

He has self awareness in spades and never takes anything for granted. Bless his loving parents for the foundation he has been given:-)

Adam is a magical spirit and cummunicator-that is part of his “IT” factor.”Fame is weird”  but Adam you are born for it:-)

There may be bumps in the road but with his positive attributes, personality and character; success will come one way or the other.May it be music, film, TV or Fashion or all of the above:-)

    Very Inspirational

    Thanks

    Regards

    B-Babie
    xx

    It’s incredible, the CD it’s unbelievable… Can’t stop listening to.. I don’t understand a thing…
His true power relies in his persona.  I hope he gets the chance of touring the album and surpass GNT.  I’ll do the impossible to go see one show…
Runnin — Take Back — FTW!!!!

He’s always level headed and intelligent – well thought out answers no matter how much he professes to be unfiltered.  LOL at the fans acting like he’s dead!  It’s like the guy on the reality show stopped existing when the show was over and this is some reality show contestant impersonator!

Adam after the RAH concert at 0.39:

“When you’re in the position where you have a lot of visibility you have to use it for the greater good. I definitely believe in that”

Adam is such a special human being. He is beautiful in the outside but he’s even more beautiful and gorgeaus in the inside, and the bonus, he’s very smart and funny. I love him for his voice, but I’m down on the rabit hole for his great personality and his intelligence. He always say thank you. He appreciates what he has, always trying to spare times for his fans even after all day running around town doing promos and tons of interviews, or after concerts. And the most amazing one was after 14hrs flying accross the ocean, he’s tired but still he didn’t want to dissapoint his fans and greeted them with smile. He apologizes to his fans when he couldn’t give more times, because he had to go to the next things on his busy schedule.

Adam, loved you on AI and still love you now. You’re a gift that keeps on giving.

When I, as an Adam fan, angst over sales and spins, it helps to remember that what he is doing–pushing boundaries, literally making history–is much more important than how many adds he got today.

ADAM captured me from his “Im not skerred!” even before he sang Bohemian Rhapsody as he swaggered into position for his audition. There’s something about him and I gazed at him intently just how Simon was checking him out, up and down, down & up. And it was the ADAM LAMBERT Concert for me week after week, the only AI season I watched without a miss. ADAM never disappoints. He always delivers with all intensity and passion, a consummate showman and a phenomenal performer and astounding vocalist. With ADAM LAMBERT, what more can one ask?

And as the winner again of BILLBOARD’S MUSIC SEXIEST MALE, CONGRATULATIONS, ADAM!!! You deserve everything and all the love of your devoted passionate fans because you give us so much joy in our hearts. I love you dearly, ADAM baby.

That’s what amazed me about him, the level of confidence he had when he got before the judges. He knew he could sing, he just wanted the opportunity and the time to show them and the viewers what he could do. He reminded of another former Idol, Chris Daughtry, who came in confident and fearless, knowing that he was a a good singer and just want to be given a chance. I think both of them a time or two, have been called arrogant, but I think it was just self confidence and that’s a very sexy quality in a man.

    Yes, such an appealing man.
His response to the family who said they “loved him on Idol.”
“Well, you can love me now, if you don’t mind.”  Said so wistfully.

This programme with Adam was quite fascinating to watch. As most of you, I agree with Jennifer…
I’m European (Czech to be exact) so I only kept hearing about Adam through Twitter and seeing his name on IMDb news etc. I have to say even after I checked a few of his Idol performances I wasn’t quite sold (I tend to listen to less showy singers – Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen, Iggy Pop, though Bowie is one of my faves so I do have a thing for Adam’s theatrical side) – it wasn’t until I saw a couple of interviews with him – Michael Slezak’s being one of them – that I really took notice. He is truly a unique person and makes his openness and positivity seem so effortless though he keeps telling us how hard it is. I think he does a great job as not only a singer and artist but as a public figure as well.

Cool interview.  I hope the Queen exposure helps Trespassing sales.

  • Axxxel

oh… those Slezak interviews are so fingerlicking good !! I have seen so many Adam Lambert interviews but still… my most favorite is this one, posted by BarnabyAndFriends , entitled Adam Lambert FULL INTERVIEW, taken during the Idoltour in 2009….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNPhft3l7eQ  he gave good advice to kids who felt that they do not fit in at school for some reason, talked about his tattoo and also what he learned on his first job on a cruiseship.

Well, well… I’ve always been pretty sure that if everyone would be required to watch Slezak’s five-part interview with Adam (the one right after he came off Idol) there would be a Glambert army by now… that stuff is just legendary and Slezak knows his stuff. Glad to see my point proven :)

And hi to a fellow European and a neighbour as well (Slovakia here)

PS: Just in case anyone is feeling nostalgic:

Lol – Just watched all five episodes again – Slezak and Adam are just so darn entertaining.  Wish they’d do it again.

  • Axxxel

That is true about the army LOL…They should put that Slezak interview on DVD and play it again 10 years later… it was so good. A Slezak interview after the Queen concerts would be fun.

Wow, just seeing this now. It is really, really good.
