Adam’s official press release announcing his record deal:

(Los Angeles, CA à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ June 9, 2009) à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert has been signed to 19 Recordings and licensed to RCA Records. He is preparing to start work on his debut album which is due for release in fall 2009.

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“To find a talent as exceptional as Adam Lambert is a rare and special event,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ says Simon Fuller, Creator and Executive Producer of American Idol and Founder & CEO of 19 Entertainment. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“I am thrilled that American Idol was the platform for the world to discover this brilliant young man. He is unique and unforgettable and a certain star of tomorrow.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

“There are no longer any rules in terms of where the world’s next superstars may come from,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ says Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO RCA/JIVE Label Group. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We are thrilled to be getting involved with Adam Lambert as we all at RCA Records believe he is one of those rare, future global stars”.

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m thrilled that weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve come to a creative and collaborative partnership and look forward to developing a really exciting album,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ says Lambert. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We are 100% on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going to be ridiculous! Get Ready!!!à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

As far as collaborators are concerned Adam told E News, “I can’t say yet. I wanna keep [collaborators] a surprise, but we have some really great stuff in store.”

But, “Hollywood’s Not America” singer, Ferras recently twittered that he was writing songs for Adam with famed songwriter, Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson)

Some of his dream collaborators? Madonna and Missy Elliott. About Elliot, Adam says, he’d like to do “Something a little bit urbanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’ something you can shake your booty to…”

“My record will be kind of a rock-pop-electronic-dance thing,” Adam said in a recent interview, “I don’t know how to describe it. I think it’s gonna take on a life of its own, as far as genre goes.”

Kind of makes me wonder whether, like me, they ended up being big fans of Kradison. I love all three, and it would be hard for me to pick a takes-it-all-and-goes-beyond-the-others winner, too. So letà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s have a rollout of contracts one after the other.

    This.

Good point. I guess the Glamberts are entitled to bask in the glow while they can though. Only time will tell if he lives up the lofty expectations that are being set before him and the ones he has for himself.

    ———————————–

Well I voted for only Kris but Adam was my 2nd fave. I have to say.. I think Adam may be one of the few who can live up to expectations. So glad we found Kris and Adam and Allison. I would listen to Kris every day, Allison when I am feeling my tuff chic moments and Adam when I just want to dance around and rock out a bit.

    From Lucy:
“Well, maybe down the line a Broadway musical about a highly successful gospel-style singing, charismatic preacher who finally comes out as a gospel-singing, charismatic gay man. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d buy tickets to that, lol.”

    The Ted Haggard Story?

  • lucy

Burning Man is kind of a counter-culture celebration. American Idol is more closely aligned with corporate culture (big contracts, powerful management). So, I just thought it was kind of interesting that somebody would cite Burning Man as the catalyst for trying out for American Idol. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think there is anything wrong with this motiviation. I just think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interesting that there are so many roads that lead to Idol.

Wasn’t Burning Man so much as it was the ‘shrooms at Burning Man. … Now, *hallucinations* getting you to try out for Idol — makes *much* more sense to me!

    The Ted Haggard Story?

Well, not quite. Ted could’ve been the basis for that score, but he missed his chance because he keeps on trying to cram himself back into the closet, lol. So far, I’m afraid this musical is going to have to be wholly fictional!

    hellothere

    Sorry, but, LOLOLOLOL.
They called Cook à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“one of the greatest talents ever to be discovered by AI who would sell millions of recordsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . They also called Jordin a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“future global superstarà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . And, Blake Lewis was called à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“one of the most unique Idol contestants everà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . And one more for the road: Taylor Hicks was à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“expected to sell at least 4 millionà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ at the time of his album release.
Press releases are supposed to be glowing, and seeing as 19à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s world currently revolves around shoving Adam Lambert down the publicà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s throat, I would expect this one to glow in the dark. It means absolutely nothing in the long run, though.

The big difference is the buzz Adam started receiving from the beginning of the show. When people first saw him in the auditions, they started looking him up on youtube and saw how incredibly talented he is. Adam is far more unique and artistic than those you mentioned, and IMO, more talented. He is also charismatic and adorable, of which I don’t ever remember people mentioning about the above (not that they aren’t). What also differentiates him from the rest is the Young Hollywood Award he received Sunday, and he got far and away the most attention from that. Also his cover story and buzz of Rolling Stone mag. It is now all over the place.

It isn’t 19 that is shoving Adam down our throats. He is just the IT guy, and everyone wants to talk about him. Fortunately, Adam has mad talent, and that will carry him far, around the world.

Great news for Adam, the AI machine is going full out for him, he is going either to be a massive success or the biggest failure out of AI, anyway it should be entertaining.

    Just waiting on Allison now…

The worst thing that can happen to Adam is fronting Queen or having the lead in Spiderman on Broadway. So, no, he will never be the biggest failure.

With all the hype that the AI machine has surrounding him, he needs to outperform every single previous contestant right out of the gate. After all, he is their first star, right? To hell with Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry. He is all there is, right? Anything less would be a failure, with such unprecedented promotion, both during and post show. Hell, they’ve even relegated the winner to room dressing in order to further their cost. In all technicalities, everything Lambert related should be selling like nobody’s business right now, and he should have outsold Kris post-finale by a WIDE margin, taking the lack of Kris promo vs. Adam hyperbole into consideration. And, well….he didn’t.

I definitely think Glamberts are right to bask in the glow, but statements like the above always needs some YMMV qualifiers. There are actually lots of contestants on AI every year who start receiving buzz at the beginning of the show due to pre-Idol stuff. How incredibly/undeniably talented those youtubes prove him to be, well, that’s a mileage thing. Besides, only big fans really look those up. Adam’s buzz on the show for the vast majority of America was due to what he did on the show.

And sure, in your opinion, Adam is “far more unique and artistic” than the other Idols mentioned, but I wouldn’t say that’s what everyone thinks. I also like his personality a lot, but I personally don’t think he’s adorable. I just don’t get the sense that everyone in the media is buzzing about his adorable-ness any more or less than the past Idols. I do think he is getting tons of buzz in tons of areas– the only thing I can safely say is he’s getting more buzz than past Idols in some areas, and maybe less in others, heh. I guess buzz is hard to quantify, but more importantly, it’s hard to predict what current buzz means for the future.

So anyway, is Adam signed with 19M? The PR was vague on that. Kris’ was clear, but Adam’s didn’t explicitly state that despite the glowing quote from Fuller.

    Not true. LOL

  • lulumarie

Adam’s candor is extraordinary. I felt like he was sitting at my kitchen table. Adam is the straightest guy I know. Which is alot, because ever since high school gay guys and me stick. I guess because the are like one of the girls-only better lol.
Adam’s manerism is masculine: he fights guys and flirts with girls. He actually said that he’s feeling “Bi-curious ,going the other direction” and that he would maybe try it with a stranger (woman)-I think he should do it with a groupie yeah! that’s Right!! my # is 1 (908) ADAM-FAN LOL.

    Not true. LOL

Why is that not true? If someone is hyped up to be the best thing since sliced bread, well, they should be. If someone claimed to have a cure for cancer, it should cure cancer. If someone is supposed to be the best thing to ever come from American Idol (which must be the case, as his media coverage thus far is virtually unprecedented), they should be able to prove it in sales and industry respect. The hype is happening now, so he most definitely should be able to do so right out of the gate. Unless, of course, the hype has no substance to it. In that case, yeah, it’s not true. And yet, the hype train rolls on. So, I am expecting massive sales and multiple Grammy noms to go along with the best album ever. LOL

  • http://www.last.fm/user/RemusL/ RemusL

hellothere, it’s not true because Adam is not the one doing the hyping. The hype comes from external sources beyond his control. Just because you are buying into the hype and expect massive sales and multiple Grammy noms (what, not wins?) doesn’t mean he needs to fulfull your expectations in order to be successful.

He has never said that he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. What he has stated is that he hopes fans will like his album, that he hopes he will like his album.

i can’t wait to get my RS copy. i looooved the video.
i would love if he worked with jim steinman (Meatloaf, air supply)onsome tracks.

This. And I think a lot of Adam’s fans think he has a better-than-average chance at being very successful, and it would seem that TPTB agree, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to become Madonna with the first CD. Maybe some people think that, but most fans have more realistic hopes. I just want him to make a good album and hopefully have it do well, and then he can go from there.

    Congrats Adam.

  • Bewitched

To hellothere : I don’t think Adam is getting “shoved down anyone’s throat.” The public is demanding him, are hungry for him and can’t wait for his album or for that matter any little snub of information about him. After all the moving and super fantastic performances on Idol there’s no question it will only be more fantabulosness. Go, Baby, Go!
