I was in a lurking mood the day everyone was debating the new jacket, so I didn’t weigh in then. I’m with you, though, I LOVE it! I think he looks so cool, cutting edge, and superstar-like in that pic!

I am so glad for Adam and for Me (and all my fellow Adam fans) Eclectic is what I really want from Adam’s album and it seem more and more likely that is what we will get… Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Love Adam’s retro-mod look. Dated a handsome hunk a few decades ago who looked a lot like him – same hair and wore a jacket almost like this. Sunglasses were different – small, round and blue-tinted – popular in their day.

On the orchestra, it doesn’t necessarily mean a ballad. Not comparing music styles, but a lot of artists have used orchestras before. The Who, The Moody Blues, Yes, ELP, Elton John, Muse, ELO and probably a lot more.

Either run a backing track or rearrange the song for the tour — maybe it’s a song that would also work as stripped-down acoustic or with a couple of driving guitars or just some violin stuff done on the synth.

Very few singers tour with all the instruments and vocal backup featured on their albums, after all …

I think a Muse-like song for the orchestra track is a good bet.

Yes – I really like the Muse comparison for the song – I can definitely see it having that kind of vibe, with the orchestra usage and his love of Muse.

BTW – has Adam ever talked much about Radiohead? They always kinda reminded me of Muse too (though not quite, of course). And they may be a little too angsty at times for his preference, but I can see some kind of Radiohead influence there as well. They are pretty eclectic and love adding electronic elements without destroying the vocals in the process.

The anticipation is getting out of control. Think it’s an intentional strategy?

What makes me happy is that this writer/columnist did not have to answer the twitterer back…especially if he thought the song sucked. There was no reason he had to comment and say it was Beautiful. Also he was there mostly to view the movie not the song, so the fact that it stuck with him enough to leave an impression to comment on I think bodes very well for the song.

I think it really depends. I saw Bernadette Peters in DC recently, and she had a local group back her up – it was a pretty large orchestra, and she sang a mix of show tunes, ballads, etc.

There were some stories I remember hearing about the Beatles, and how they were able to tour with some of the interesting musical accompaniments for their songs (after all, they used a lot of strings, horns, etc.) Not sure though about what they wound up doing when they would actually tour.

I’m guessing, for the sake of money, that the above answer may be more likely.

Adam is such an amazing man, he is in a league of his own. His versatility still STUNS me. I can’t think of another singer who is capable of pulling off so many different styles of singing so successfully. That is why I have no doubt I will love all the songs on his new record.

Good point about Radiohead. They went rogue apparently on their last album and it sold really well (you could actually buy it on their website for a few weeks first!). I like Muse better, but Radiohead totally goes with the conceptual album.

Clearly, Adam is going the pop/rock/electro route on this album, but maybe he will go more conceptual with the next one. Muse has a few radio-ready singles, and the rest of the album works with them (orchestral arrangements!).

Yes – I go with #1. The fact that Adam himself has gone out of his way to say that he felt bad getting so many gifts and having people spend so much money on him, when there are so many more useful ways that money could be used to help people who need it more. I think he’d appreciate a charity more than a freaking peacock (wtf indeed…)

Think you are right, he was referring to a full string rather than full orchestra.

Maybe because Adam once said in an interview something along the lines that he wanted his hair to have those blue/green hues like on a peacock feather? It’s still kinda “out there” for a gift idea, though!

Thanks — Good, I’m not hallucinating. … Still leaves us not knowing what he meant, of course. I’d think it probably meant “A whole lot of strings — as many as you’d have in a symphony,” though, rather than “a full orchestra.”

I’m guessing this is a virtual adoption, like what they do at the zoo. My son “adopted” a zebra from our city zoo for a friend of his, for example, which means his donation helped fund feeding/care for the animal. She got a picture of the zebra in the mail and gets occasional updates on him.

Yeah, charity drives are the way to go. LOL on adopting a peacock, tho. And remember that in the US interview, Kris noted that he had been asked to glam up his look and he thought maybe a few feathers would help. Then Adam imitated a bird or something. So perhaps he and Kris could go into the adoption scenario.

Yeah, and while adopting a zoo pet is charitable, we haven’t known Adam to be a supporter of animal causes. He may be, of course, but this isn’t something that’s been publicized. Rather, he’s stated numerous times that he supports the arts in education, so I think if they insist on getting a gift for his birthday, it should be to DonorsChoose or another of the charities he’s been known to support.

BTW, I recently saw Kenny Loggins performing with the Pacific Symphony. It was awesome. So cool that he can have potential gigs like that in his future. And also amazing how he can do anything! Yes, but they were U2′s opening band. They were not the headliners. Once Adam is the headliner, anything is possible. But that makes sense for now.

Uh,,,I’m pretty sure I read part of that Adam birthday gift thread a while back. As far as I remember, the peacock idea was because of the colours and the strutting – both of which suit Adam perfectly. Uh,,,and it was definitely the zoo-adoption thing they were talking about (I think the Lambskanks were considering “adopt a lamb”). The last thing I read was that they were considering to adopt a peacock and donate the remainder of the collected amount to charity (peacocks are about $300 a year).

Some further information about the press junket in Wyoming that was posted elsewhere.

The LA premiere was supposed to be on November 4th, but now it is listed as TBA. The press junket for the cast is going on now at Yellowstone National Park but the only ones listed to attend are John , Amanda, Chewitel and Roland. So it is only the main cast and the director. Once this junket is finished, there should be a lot of press about the movie since they would have spent three days doing tons of media. Hopefully the music or Adam’s name may come up in one of these interview. My guess is that after this junket , the premiere date will be reset or released. I was hoping the press junket would have been in LA none scheduled so far. Pictures from this junket and print and TV interviews should be starting next week once this junket is done. Hopefully we will start to hear more information on the music.

Can’t vouch for the accuracy … take with usual dose of salt.

Okay, I asked this on the headline thread, but how does a tour work with a song done by an entire orchestra? I’m completely serious about this question. Anyone? How do they substitute for this? I’m really looking forward to hearing this song.

PattyH has been the closest to the answer as I’ve skimmed through. The orchestra track is transferred into a synthesizer and when piped through the sound system you get the full effect of a live orchestra.

I’m a major Depeche Mode fan and they have recorded with live orchestras in the past and have transferred the track to the synths for the concerts. Other bands do the same thing or strip it down with only a few instruments live.

I’m betting Adam will go the synth route to have the full effect during concerts.

My theory is some people watching the clip (who are not AI fans) may pause the video at that point to read what it says. (I know I would being it is all by itself, I am nosy that way)…..In addition that is .01 second more visibility then he had before. and if it plays in theaters for promo’s….whoa nelly!

Well, I listened to the TFM snippet off of Amazon UK ‘“ listened 2X’s does not sound like Adam’s voice to me. Anyone else listen yet??

I have listened to every recorded song by Adam out there – he changes up his voice to fit the song and the music. Not everything by Adam is all about the higher register.

Just a guess here, but the Amazon page says “Original Release Date: October 16, 2009 ” But the purchase area says “Available on October 20. 2009″. I would think it will get “premiered” somewhere onthe 16th and we’ll here it and will be available at Amazon/iTunes for purchase on the 20th.

Snippets are always hard to judge, but it’s pretty, and sounds like Adam (not over-processed). I was expecting more of a rock ballad, but the snippet sounds more like a straight ballad. But again, snippets are hard to judge. Congrats, Adam fans, you gotta crumb!

Yeah, it’s a little cheesy, but like I said, 20 seconds is not enough to judge the whole song. I imagine the song will build and hopefully get more interesting. But so far, these 20 seconds seem more AC than Top 40, radio-wise.

Which is fine, cuz I’m sure the single from the record would represent him much better. I wonder how they’ll figure out the timing on the two songs’ release.

anthro – the single can be downloaded on Oct 16th – the album on Oct 20th. When I clicked on “Time For Miracles” the price was $1.29 for the single!!!

Listened 2 more times – yes it is our Adam! When I first listened, the back up singers singing along with him threw me off. Happy Friday!!!! after all!!!!!

Ok in one place it says release on Oct 20 in another is says Oct 16…Which is that Friday thing again..What’s with Idol and Friday release dates???????

That short snippet sounds fantastic, I am buying it the moment it comes out. It sounds Aerosmithish, who I absolutely love.

While we are volunteering for jobs, I wil be willing to be the person to check Adam after he gets dressed, for loose threads and lint. I get the country rock vibe, at the beginning of the song snippet that almost sounds like a country steel guitar then crescendos into more of a string sound. Also I think the 4:43 is the length of the song, not the length of the snippet.

as an example… Archies xmas cd on the mp3 album said ‘original release date oct 9th’ which is a mistake, wont be here till the 13th. Sometimes amazon puts up weird dates.. same thing with the bsb album.

Yes the album is entitled 2012 Soundtrack, but on the MP3 download page for Adam it lists the single “Time For Miracle” and gives the price for the single and when I clicked on the title of the single I got the screen with Oct. 16th

The very first part of the snippet reminds me of a song with a line ‘  I haven’t got time for the pain.’  Song and singer alluding me at the moment -a senior moment caused by Adam.

Will people throw rocks and shoes and stuff at me if I say that the snippet of TFM doesn’t sound like anything all that wonderful? It’s ok, but I am not jumping up and down going OMG what a fantastic song. It sounds pretty much like a fairly standard soundtrack ballad.

Wait, that was the nice way? I’d be skeered for the mean way. I was expecting typical cheesy movie song, I mean it’s for a schlocky disaster movie and it’s title is Tiime for Miracles.

What I wasn’t expecting was the kind of countryish sound in the beginning. Interesting. I do like Adam’s vocals in the latter part of the song and he does definitely sound like Adam.

Definitely more of a classic rock kind of vibe going on, I hope the rest of the song has more rock in it, more ballad and slightly less country.

Still like the voice though. Nice.

Same snippet. But the quality of the audio was better in the uUS Amazon…maybe just my computer… but i noticed the difference right away.

For me, it’s not that the song itself is OMG wow the best movie song ever, its all about who’s singing it – and from the snippet I think I will love hearing the whole song.

It’s ok girlygirl. No rocks or shoes … but watch out for fingernails. kidding. We’ll have to wait for the whole thing but ,for me for me … personally, I am quite (understatement) predisposed to loving it.

Rule that I’ve developed over time for listening to post-Idol music (at least in the first two years or so of said Idol’s career):

If you like the Idol’s voice, just concentrate very hard on it, and concentrate fiercely on *ignoring* the song that the voice is singing …. because the song will be “meh” at best. And “at best” doesn’t even come along very often.

If you don’t like the Idol’s voice, don’t listen at all. Because the song will be “meh” at best. And you will will *not* enjoy the experience!

I like a lot of Idol voices. But I’ve stopped waiting for one of them to be showcased early in the game with any song that I particularly like in the least! This season, to me Kris’s and Allison’s singles and Adam’s movie song (as far as I can tell from the snippet anyway) are all on the upwards side of “meh,” so I’m actually quite happy!

If his album is mostly electronic dance music, I’ll be incredibly disappointed in Adam or whoever decided his music for him. The closest thing he should ever come to electronic music is Let’s Dance from the tour, which was damn awesome and not electronic but sounded a bit like it .

This full orchestra track sounds amazing, though. I absolutely HAVE to hear it. I will die if I don’t.

Adam’s voice has indeed continued to evolve since January. I think the being on Idol and then on tour taught him some really good things and he has used that knowledge to improve. He is not the same singer that he was during Hollywood Week.
