Adam Lambert sat down for a second interview with Jian Gomeshi of the excellent Canadian radio show, Q. The discussion ranged from the making of Adam’s latest album Trespassing, navigating the tricky path of fame to being an openly gay pop star.

It’s a 19 minute interview, but definitely worth a listen.

An excellent, thoughtfully done interview by Jian Ghomeshi. Candid, revealing and honest.

ETA: I missed the first interview that Ghomeshi had with Adam. Would someone please let me know when it was done?

I must say it’s a pleasure to watch an interview when the person does their research on the person and/or topic. Kudos to Jian for making this sowarm, relaxed, flowing and interesting. Adam, as usual, is so articulate, natural and honest. Interesting to hear Adam state that the minute he flies over (into Canada) he feels like there’s a shift and something totally changes (in reference to canadians being more liberal and open-minded.

Aww, thanks for posting that earlier video, don’t recall seeing that one :) Also, the irony of on the first video, how he mentioned meeting Justin Timberlake and the topic of doing a homage to Freddie Mercury! Then the newest one as to doing a homage to Freddie with Queen!! I think Brian may be on to something about fate playing a role!

When Adam gets an interviewer who actually discusses real topics and cares about what Adam has to say and actually listens to him….it’s simply magic. Adam always takes such care and really considers his answers. Such an interviewer dream. Plus this interviewer has an amazing voice to listen to.

Thank you very much, zaclona77!  Another excellent interview.

I respect the fact that Adam doesn’t dodge tough questions.

Great interviewer, great interviewee!   Win Win!

As wonderful as this interview was when I heard it via Soundcloud, it’s even better when able to actually watch it as well.  All too often, Adam is forced to try to elevate a trite, pedestrian interview due to the shortcomings of the person conducting it; it’s such a pleasure to see him being interviewed by such someone as intelligent, thoughtful and well-prepared as Jian.  Thanks to Jian’s insightful questions and Adam’s articulate responses, we’re given an opportunity to get real perspective on Adam’s thoughts and attitudes about his music, his career, his role in the LGBT community, and his life in general. Kudos to both of them.

It was definitely enjoyable to listen to Adam discussing the (then upcoming) Queen collaboration, knowing what a triumph it would turn out to be for him.  For  any fans of Adam (or Queen), these reviews from concertgoers on the Ticketmaster site will be absolutely heartwarming:

Jian should always interview Adam, and preferably longer next time, could listen and watch him all day!!!

Yeah, I loved reading reviews esp from those who haven’t heard of him before the show. It’s overwhelming at times when someone said it was the best concert they’d ever been to. I hope they’ll add some North America/NZ/Australia/Asia concerts:)
