I’m too late for this party, but to reiterate some of the posters’ thoughts here, 19/RCA is not a pushover. They could have petitioned for a restraining order for the release of Adam’s purported single. But they have not, as of yet.

Would the release of the said single cause damage to Adam’s career? At this point, I think it remains to be in theory.

You’re going to be so shocked to find out this isn’t true. The first shock will be ticket sales for the tour because they won’t all sell out. Then first week album sales. If 1% of the finale audience buy Adam’s album it’ll be amazing. I think he has the potential to do well but he’s not Madonna just yet. And buzz is quite transitory.
Right now he isn’t 1/10 the celebrity that Jon and Kate are. And they just have some insignificant cable TV show.

I’d just keep those expectations in check this early on.

I am sure Adam would have protected his rights, but ASCAP lists Adam as performer and co-writer of 5 songs only:

ASCAP often tells you nothing. It’s very incomplete. It almost never lists an artist’s FULL discography and, on the other hand, some, songs will just show under their listings that are never even recorded/ released.

Perhaps Adam should have been a little less eager to embrace being a celebrity and laid off the self-promotion a bit. He isnÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t entirely blameless in this scenario.

How was he exactly promoting himself? Or do you mean he should have turned down the Rolling Stone cover, refused the Young Hollywood Award and declined the 20/20 interview?

Ah, yes, some opportunistic media producer wants to ride his coat tails to make some easy money and Adam is blamed for being too famous.

This is just marvelous – enjoying comments so much – love it that we CANÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢T stop talking about this guy! Everything he does we find so interesting – even every little crumb of info. And thanks for nothing, Rolling Stone, for your online article presenting Hi FiÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s press release as FACT instead of the carefully-worded mindfuck it really is. And while weÃƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re at it, thanks for fucking up royally, Ryan Seacrest, by running with this story on Friday afternoon. Perez Hilton could have been ignored, but you?

Respectfully, my issue isn't with the fact that they're covering the story, it's with the way they're covering it. I don't think a simple fact-check and a non-sensationalized version of the headline is too much to ask. But I'll also freely admit I'm looking through my "fan goggles", as per usual.

I know there is Adam’s pre-Idol stuff out there and I want it badly. Had HiFi/Wilshire come right out and said, hey, after Adam has dropped his first album we are going to release some old demo stuff in time for Christmas – guess what, I would have purchased it.

Don’t support HiFi/Wilshire by buying Want. Download it for free. This might be unethical, but no more unethical than what HiFi/Wilshire is doing. Financially you are not hurting Adam as he doesn’t have any right to the song. Don’t fall for the garbage that he’ll participate in the success. Stupid doubletalk, that’s all.

Actually, I really like Want, I like it a heck of a lot better than No Boundaries, and Adam’s voice draws you in as it usually does.
I got Want on my MP3 already.

By now not only December has been removed but all the Dublyn Jones songs have vanished from the Wilshire Player. This seems to indicate that Adam got hired to make the demos in 2005 and that HiFi/Wilshire found their man in Dublyn Jones to do the actual recordings in 2007/08. They said the songs were recorded in 2007/08, but they neglected to name the artist. More doubletalk: They want you to fill in the blank with Adam Lambert when in reality the artist was Dublyn with a y Jones. I wonder how much they pay him to keep quiet. Probably a new contract under a new name.

Don’t support the bottom feeders and remember, Adam does not get any money from the sale of Want.
