Ellen Degeneres did a phone with Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert that aired on her talk show today. Kris Allen already taped a segment with Ellen that set to air on on May 27.

Ellen is sure Adam will be responsible for so many men showing up to auditions next year wearing makeup and nail polish. Adam tells Ellen he’s wearing the underwear she gave him on the red carpet. He thanks America for putting through somebody who’s “A little weird.”

I’ll be posting quotes from today’s Idol press conference in a bit, but in the meantime, a reporter asked Adam if media reports about his sexuality affected the voting and he replied, laughing, “”Uh, you know, probably.

Bonus: After the jump, get ready for total cuteness. I’m typically not one to go gaga over Idol bromances, but holy crap, if I’m not watching this short VH1 clip snipped from the post-finale press conference over and over again…

Video after the JUMP…

  • milly93

LOL I’m sure we’ll see tons of Adam Lambert-esque auditions next year, just not as good. And that last video = GAH. TOTAL CUTENESS. X3

  • lambkin

OMG! They are too much! I half expect them to do the rest of their press tour holding hands or sitting on each others laps cuddling while they do interviews! Lol… I don’t think I have ever seen such a genuine, sweet, adoring friendship between two guys. They are both so unencumbered and open to the joys that a close bond can bring, and it’s a humbling and beautiful thing.

  • suebrody

    Cutest.Video.Ever

  • mgk

They kill me with the cuteness. Even though I wanted Adam to win, how can you not just adore Kris too?

  • Zerika

Just a small correction: the question that the reporter asked Adam was “if he thought the media reports about his sexuality might have affected the voting”. Which is not the same thing as “costing him the competition”. They just decided to play free with the headline, as usual.

  • wand3rful

ok, i just died of cuteness :wub_tb: seriously? a bear hug from behind? they really need their own show (really hope larry king/ryan tonite only focuses on them, not the entire top 10…sorry!)

  • sonyab

Awww Kris hugs Lamby and then they both hug!! :) It made me have tears! It was just sweet. :)

  • Justin8602

I sooo want to be mad at Kris for taking the title, but I just can’t. Yes, I’m disappointed, and Yes I do think Adam should have won, but I can’t help but feel like an ass everytime I let myself get angry that he won. He is just too much of a good person to have hate spewed about him. I stand by that I think America got it wrong, but Congratulations to Kris and I wish him lots of success. And I might buy his songs for the fact that him and adam are such good friends. His style isn’t really my taste but I’m inclined to help out his career.

  • amiroamor

OMG. I wanna be Adam right now. I mean, when Kris hugged him. lol

  • JenG

I’ve watched that hug an embarrassingly amount of times this morning. It completely evaporates any left over sadness I feel from Adam losing.

    They are amaaaazinggggg.

  • ettacandy

I’m not into the whole fan-fiction Kradam thing but…

This. This is just so genuine. Seriously. Adorable. And, how completely refreshing for two grown men to feel so comfortable with hugging each other, supporting each other, and expressing a love – without any explanation or qualification. I’m honestly just amazed.

Yes, you cannot help but love the American Idol, Kris Allen… even if, like me, you think Adam should have won, part of me thinks that this worked out for the best. In every way.

And Adam on Ellen: fabulous. A class act. As is Kris.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Just a small correction: the question that the reporter asked Adam was à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“if he thought the media reports about his sexuality might have affected the votingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . Which is not the same thing as à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“costing him the competitionà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ . They just decided to play free with the headline, as usual.

I noticed that, too. Very different question.

    Video is love. :-)

  • SuzieQ

Well, if that isn’t the cutest thing! I seriously love them! I thought Michael and Cook last year were the cutest, but Adam and Kris take the cake. I just love how secure they both are in displaying this adorable friendship…no need to qualify it like someone else (ahem, like a certain 3rd place finisher).

On another note, I really think Adam is a rarity in the rock star world–a gracious, kind, friendly and just all-around great guy. Even though he loves to sing some hard-core metal music, I don’t think he will ever be like a stereotypical rock star. His mother sure raised him right (same with Kris’s mother).

  • sauer1

That video just made my day. They feel such closeness and I think that is so genuine. I wanted also to dislike Kris for winning as I am and always will be a die hard Adam fan but they are both great guys and what someone said earlier, they were raised to be just really nice and all around respectful guys. I wish them both so much. But my love will always go to Adam as I still think he should have won. But Adam seems just as happy that Kris won. So if he can be, so can I. Love them both!

  • Chipmunk

    Hmmmmm……the loving between these 2 is a bit…….. :ponder_tb:

Cute and all, and in this video, wow..Kradamites would be proud, a threesome with Paula:

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

awwwww! That is too cute for words right there! :D

  • Lu

That vid was awesome. What great guys – both of them! Awwww, that was total cuteness!!!

  • thedingoateyobaby

    Oh
    Dear
    Gawddddddd

I cant stand it. I wanna bite both of them dammit. I could just gobble them up. Maybe Kris is the one who is Gay. Bwahahahahahahaha, jest kiddinggggggg.

How damn cute, why cant we all be like them.

Its so nice to see these two, who are from completely different cookie cutters, accept one another for who they are without, it would seem, prejuduice or intolerance. They genuinely seem to love one another.

  • Sunshinegirl

I can’t wait to see that video when I get home from work! :) I gotta say tough that I seriously doubt that Adam’s sexuality played that much of a part in his placing second. Why would it suddenly be a problem after he made it all the way to the Finale anyway? Just a thought. Either way, I love them both tons! And like another said about Kris, even though Adam’s music isn’t really my style, I am inclined to support this wonderful guy in his post-Idol career anyway. I didn’t think anything could be cuter than the Davids last season, but I think Kradam is definitely starting to creep up on them to steal the cuteness title!

  • grayhound

Well that made me misty eyed….

For god’s sake who wouldn’t love these guys…..

  • risalea

Awwwwwwwwwwwww! If that wasn’t the sweetest thing ever, I don’t know what is.

  • Justin8602

After re-watching that clip a hundred times, I think the only thing that could possibly be cuter than that would be if Allison ran up and got in on the hugging. The Davids were cute together, but Kradison melts my heart into a puddle of goo. :wub_tb:

  • lambkin

Both of these guys are such contradictions to their stereotypes. Kris, a small town, married, midwestern guy is completely open and not at all uncomfortable being close to another guy, let alone one with ambiguous sexuality. Adam, a SoCal hipster into fashion, “the scene”, and going against the norm, is not affected, haughty, or LA-ish at all. Rather, he is extremely warm, effusive, and helpful with the other contestants. Just goes to show the extreme limitations of stereotypes, and how anyone from any background is capable of loving and accepting other human beings at a basic level, regardless of differences. These two are an incredible inspiration to us all.

  • EllieA

Did anybody see the youtube comment where someone said the macro going around now says, “Kradam: Making all your friendships look like crap.” LMAO!

And there’s nothing wrong or strange about the way they hug. They are great friends; they love each other. They are both affectionate guys. There’s something screwy with a society that considers such displays weird. I hope my own kids grow up as secure, demonstrative, and sweet as both these guys.

  • TKat

MJ thanks for posting both of these! OMG could they be anymore lovable.

And Adam with Ellen — LMAO!!

I can just picture the auditions now — lots of magenta Alison hair and post-punk guys. It going end up looking like a B version of Road Warrier.

  • Anastasia72071

Oh.My.GOD. That is THE most adorable clip ever!! On Wed. evening I peeked on this blog to find out who won before the show aired in the Pacific time zone (‘cuz I knew there was no way I was going to get through those two hours with my sanity intact, if I didn’t), so by the time I had finished watching the show I was at peace with Adam not winning. Since then I’ve just been rejoicing in the fact that these two men are such good friends.

This clip is the crowning glory, and I too am soooo glad it was the two of them in the final (even though, if it had been Adam & Gokey, Adam probably would have come out victorious in the end). If Adam HAD to lose, I’m glad it was to Kris and not one of the other guys (not even commenting on the agony and ecstacy an A-Squared finale would have been).

  • thedingoateyobaby

    >>Why would it suddenly be a problem after he made it all the way to the Finale anyway? >>

Maybe he didnt make it to the finale. maybe Idol producers saw that they could create an incredible amount of buzz throughout the season with a dude like Adam. Maybe when he was in the bottom 3 there was a real good reason why he was. maybe Danny was the one who should have been in the final 2 with Kris. Maybe the vote wasnt close at all but the producers, doing what producers are notorious for, made it work for a whole host of reasons and in the end they didnt have to screw with the finale vote cause kris was was ahead but they used Adam for ratings.

In the end its all good cause its a win win for. Where he was an unknown talent before Idol he is now almost an idon icon.

Those wacky idol producers, they wouldnt do that…..would they?

  • jlc

Just watched the hug vid–about 15 times in a row…after the 3rd time I was just bawling.

So many people could take a lesson from these two extremely beautiful human beings–and I can think of 2 right off the top of my head (hint: DG & MS).

Can someone tell me how to Save that vid to my computer, if that’s possible?

  • kijico3

How much cuter could this be? Awww they genuinely like each other, just warms my heart and gives me the warm fuzzies just like little furry baby animals :-) I think I might cry…..

  • Anastasia72071

    TKat

Bahahahaaaa!!! I have vowed never to watch the show again, but even the possibility of this makes me think I might peek at the auditions now and then to see if it does happen. HA! Simon (if he’s still there) might have a stroke.

  • Sunshinegirl

I must say Kris being a Christian totally exemplifies exactly how Christians should act. I do believe that first and foremost Christ calls his followers to love others and basically said you are nothing if you don’t have love. ‘Tis so true and so evident in these guys. Thank you Kradam for being such an awesome reminder of this basic truth.

  • http://twitter.com/cara_lee pj

Those wacky idol producers, they wouldnt do thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦..would they?

No, why bother pimping if you are gonna screw with the results? They’ll sign who they want anyway (see Daughtry, Chris and Pickler, Kellie).

  • calimari

I can’t see the clip (I’m turning on the other PC now so I can) but I’d like to say that I’m glad they didn’t reference their hug as the right or godly kind! LOL!

  • Dlynne

Gosh, I don’t think I could love them more.

  • kijico3

    lambkin, love your post!

  • abbysee

Gosh can I just bask in their glow for a minute? This is godly love, not trying to preach, for them to embrace both literally and figuratively this way is just something that makes all of the inane dialogue just useless. Jesus would be proud, lol. I think he voted for Kris and Adam. Just lovely……

  • thedingoateyobaby

    >>No, why bother pimping if you are gonna screw with the results? >>

Because thats what people have come to expect from the show. They want their judges to be partial. Its just my opinion. Im a natural born cynic.

  • laz

I hate how adorable they are. Makes me all warm and tingly inside.

Seriously though, this season’s been a blast with these two, and it might even take Idol another 7 years before it can get another talent of Adam’s caliber in its clutches.

  • Layla

I must say Kris being a Christian totally exemplifies exactly how Christians should act

How ANYBODY should act…Adam is Jewish and I don’Â ¨t find him any less loving and warm acting than Kris.

  • Pixie Baker

I know I have posted this before but for me Adam and Kris have brought this *difference* issue to much higher ground. After seeing the finale….and the way they truly loved each other….the JOY I saw in Kris’s face when Adam was singing with *Queen*….well, the issue of being gay has taken a step forward to acceptance. The media wants to make this a big *bad* issue….Adam and Kris are leading by example that it doesn’t have to be that way…and I for one am so grateful.
I was so bummed going into the final because of the sh!t in the media….but now I am ok………thanks BOYS!

  • Michelle

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :)

That touched even my cold black heart :wub_tb:

  • ShariG

Awww. So sweet. That friendship is the best thing to come out of the competition, well other than recording contracts for both of them and a ton of exposure. LOL

  • ShariG

Pixie Baker, what you said. Beautiful.

  • Jayd

Does anyone know if Adam is going to be on Ellen? I heard he’ll be on Regis and Kelly next Wed. and Today on Thursday, but haven’t heard anything about Ellen. ???

  • http://www.myspace.com/chachithegreat chachi

The hug video makes me so, so happy. I love that amidst all of this politicizing of American Idol, these guys have just chosen to rise above all of it and show the world the ultimate example of just coming together with people that are different than you and accepting people for who they are. These two make me feel like singing Kum Ba Yah and giving hugs to random people in the grocery store like a crazy person.

  • anna in vegas

I sooo want to be mad at Kris for taking the title, but I just canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t. Yes, Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m disappointed, and Yes I do think Adam should have won, but I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t help but feel like an ass everytime I let myself get angry that he won.

Same here Justin8602. I even posted somewhere that the only way I would ever buy a Kris cd is if I had severe insomnia, honest. I have since changed my mind, of course, but it was a great way to vent after the shock. Love them both, especially you-know-who.

  • Ladybug

One thing that shone through week to week on Idol 8 was the genuine sweetness of both of these guys — Kris and Adam. They were humble, genuine, and gracious about everything, including the final result. And there was NO disguising their friendship bond formed over those trying weeks.

They rose above the pettiness, so often seen in all aspects of this show, to prove that good guys can, indeed, win.

  • tierbee

OK, that’s the cutest thing ever. I hope my sons grow up to be that sweet and affectionate. I hate that boys are “weird” if they are affectionate or sweet or whatever.

  • Justin8602

    Awww…some more cuteness here
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC3p12gwr4c&feature=player_embedded

At about 1:05, when Paula goes in for the hug, you can see Adam Kiss the side of Kris’s head…too cute…

  • ohnonotagain

So CUTE and I think they both are nice and sincere guys plus talented. Cookie was that way with Archie.

And DC is a truly a sincere ,loving, talented person. He was always hugging Archie and did so on the red carpet Wed.
WTG all of you for caring for each other.
    Idols, yea !!!

No I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it that way. What I meant was based on what the Christian faith teaches, instead of talking about being a Christian like some do, Kris just lives it. And Adam is the same way regardless of his beliefs. It’s awesome. I don’t know if that made sense or not. But yes, they are BOTH awesomely warm and loving guys.

  • clearone

OMG they are so precious. I just love these guys so much.

They are both such special men.

  • soccerboi

SOOOOOOOO FREAKIN ADORABLE! I love them both so much…

  • Layla

I think Kris should leave his wife for Adam…wouldn ¨’t they be an adorable couple?

Love love love the way Kris came from behind and hugged Adam and how pleased Adam looked to see him.

Ye gods is Adam so charming..his laugh his so infectious. Loved how the audience really cheered for him. Can’t wait to see him on Ellen.

    These posts. Yes. Exactly.

I love Kradam. I love Kradison even more. Those 3 have been my top 3 since around country week, and they will probably be the driving force that actually gets me to go to the tour this year, because really, except for Matt and Anoop, not really that interested in seeing the others. The friendship they share is so genuine and touching. I couldn’t be happier that it was the two of them in the finals, unless it was a three person finale, including Allison. Before this year, there’s never been a finale where I liked the final two so much.

However… I can’t help it that I’m still sad, but I don’t blame Kris at all. And I don’t think he’s unworthy, I just really wanted Adam to win. I don’t know what happened to me this season. I really said that I was not going to get invested, but instead, I got more invested than I’ve ever been. It’s never taken me this long to get over my favorite not winning in all of the seasons I’ve watched (6 total) – and I’ve only had a favorite win once. I don’t know why I connected to Adam so much, but I did.

Adam and Kris will both have my support always. And Allison. Can’t ever forget Lava Girl! :)

Adam and Ellen – loved it. Her being all “is that all you’re wearing?” just cracked me up. Heh. Thanks for these videos, mj. :)

Your comment really resonated with me. It is great to have these two guys who really are true friends and who don’t have any problem with letting the world know that it’s OK to be kind, caring and nice. In my experience, the press and entertainment media perpetuate stereotypes that don’t really represent much of America. And Idol often is one of the worst for doing that.

I spent a number of years living on the West Side of LA deeply involved with the entertainment business, and most of the people I knew and worked with were warm and caring, not affected or haughty. Of course, there are a lot of insecure posers there, but they really seemed to be on the fringes.

Today, I live in a small town in Mississippi, and most people are loving, accepting and deal with people on a human level. (Still not a great place to be gay, however). Trust me, if you want to discover deep rooted, baseless stereotypes, try doing business in NY and LA, and tellign people you live in Mississippi. (Yes, I really do have running water. And, yes, it is possible to survive somewhere where you can’t get the Wall Street Journal or the NY TImes on the day it’s published. Of course, they are all online.)

  • colette

Sarah — you can be sad for a while. Why not? You put your hopes on Adam, as lots of people did.

I’m just glad that you’re not resentful, and you don’t have to tear the other guy down in order to love Adam.

Bravo for you and all the other true “Christians” (no matter what religion they practice, or none) for that!

  • Janina

I’m a New Zealander and have just watched the finale of American Idol. The result was a travesty – there is no doubt that Adam Lambert was the clear winner. It was obviously a philosophical vote. If it had been a global vote, then undoubtedly Adam would now be the 2009 American Idol winner. His talent and artistry is unprecedented and my network of friends will never watch American Idol again!! We are disgusted. However, we do acknowledge that Kris is a thoroughly nice guy but excrutiatingly boring. He does have ability, but Adam is the star. And in our opinion, the second place should have gone to Allison who has extraordinary talent. Again, I’m sure that vote was based on her appearance not ability. This whole outcome is a f…cking tragedy.!!!

  • GeminiDolly

I hope Ellen gets Adam on the show at some point. Does she usually just interview the Idol winners?

  • linsav

I hope Ellen gets Adam on the show at some point. Does she usually just interview the Idol winners?

The winner of Idol is interviewed first contractually, unless it is like tonight on Larry King Live and is scheduled as a group thing.

Adam will go on these shows about a week later if they are interested.

  • TKat

No doubt that Adam will be on Ellen and on The View. Apparently Barbar Walters is a huge Adam fan.

  • clearone

Phew I’m not the only one! They simply adore each other. They share a special bond that not many do. They’re lucky guys to have found that kind of friendship. I have to say I’m jealous…..

  • lostinidol

I have to say as a huge Adam fan that who Kris is has not only made it easier for me to take the loss but I actually am happy for Kris. Perhaps Idols’ biggest failure this year is not letting us know what wonderful people both Kris and Adam are. Shame on Idol for pushing a no-talent like Gokey just to create some kind of cultural war when what truly existed behind the scene was the best story of all.

  • http://yahoo.com fabybaby3

I was really upset that Adam didn’t win until I began listening to his post finale interview. Adam’s positive and loving attitude is infectious and Kris mirrors that same quality. What an Idol season, not only did we witness the most exciting season ever on that stage but the unfolding of the wonderful friendship that developed over the last few months. I am in awe of the love and support they are giving one another. They truly are both winners because they have gained more than an AI place in T.V. history but a friendship that will last a lifetime. They are role models, we should all approach challenges the way these two have. I’m sure the world would be a better place!

    Thank you Adam and Kris!

  • weareallinnocent

Adam was asked if he thought the media reports about his sexuality might have affected the voting. And this is what he had to say:

“Uh, you know, probably,” laughed Adam, short and sweet.

Well, of course his sexuality affected the voting. Respectfully, imo, that’s somewhat short of saying it “cost him the competition.”

When I think about give and take of Q&A, it’s much less significant to say something can affect votes as opposed to change the actual outcome. I think that’s the question Adam answered.

It would have been interesting to hear his answer had he been asked the natural follow up question — Do you think that’s what made the difference in the outcome? or Do you believe that’s why you didn’t win? or Do you believe that’s the reason Kris won?

  • Layla

I would say Buddhism more than any other organized religion is the kindest and gentlest religion there is.

Why is it if someone is kind he/she is called a good Christian? It makes this culture of “Christianity” ? I have met people of all faiths who are such good kind-harted warm people. Why can’Â ¨t “christians” keep their faith to themselves?

Thank the gods that Kris has done this.

  • Dr. Tracey

Awwwww how cute is that? Love it.

  • BootStar

Bonus: After the jump, get ready for total cuteness. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m typically not one to go gaga over Idol bromances, but holy crap, if Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m not watching this short VH1 clip snipped from the post-finale press conference over and over againà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

LOL, mj! Yeah, I actually added that earlier today to a very short “favorites” collection on YouTube. Damn, I flove those boys!

I had to go to a school event for my older son yesterday (very long!), and there was a little boy (about 6) who looked EXACTLY like that photo of Kris as a little tyke in that DisneyWorld promo he just did. So frakkin’ cute!!!

And Adam? Well, let’s just say that my other son when, he was about 7, once spent the better part of an afternoon begging me for a pink patent handbag he’d seen in an exclusive kids’ store at the Jersey shore.

I don’t have a favorite son, and I won’t choose between Kris and Adam either. It’s all about the love for me. I love the two Davids too, FWIW.

  • Truthiness

One big thing mj, wish you would correct. You say

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll be posting quotes from todayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Idol press conference in a bit, but in the meantime, a reporter asked Adam if questions about his sexuality cost him the competition and he replied, laughing, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Uh, you know, probably.

While that was the misleading headline, that wasn’t the question that was actually asked. The actual question wasn’t about “costing him the competition.” The actual question was ‘if he thought the media reports about his sexuality might have affected the voting.’ To which he replied, “uh, you know, probably.” Affecting the voting (of some) is not the same at all in saying that it was the deciding factor, i.e. costing. And yes, I think we can all agree, that Adam’s sexuality did inspire some unknown number of people to call and vote/organize against him. But Adam has pooh-poohed the notion of his sexuality costing him the election, when asked with that, before.

So just in the sake of clarity, I think the question should be modified. It does change the entire meaning of the quote and response.

Done being pedantic. Back to squeeing over cute huggage and “Heartless,” live version and “Satisfaction,” on my ipod!

  • RubySlippers

Aww. These guys are so cute.
    They are my superheroes.
    Glam-man and Underpuppy.

    Hey. Where’s Katy Perry’s cape maker…..?

  • holeighannie

They are my favorite Idol friendship ever, I just can’t get over it, haha.

Apparently my aunt met one of Kris’s uncles today in Flint, Michigan. That is awesome, lol.

While that was the misleading headline, that wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t the question that was actually asked. The actual question wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t about à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“costing him the competition.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ The actual question was à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹if he thought the media reports about his sexuality might have affected the voting.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ To which he replied, à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“uh, you know, probably.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Affecting the voting (of some) is not the same at all in saying that it was the deciding factor, i.e. costing. And yes, I think we can all agree, that Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s sexuality did inspire some unknown number of people to call and vote/organize against him. But Adam has pooh-poohed the notion of his sexuality costing him the election, when asked with that, before.

Wow that’s a world of difference. It’s the difference between being matter-of-fact about the state of the world, and coming across as a bitter queen.

Layla: Why is it if someone is kind he/she is called a good Christian? It makes this culture of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Christianityà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ? I have met people of all faiths who are such good kind-harted warm people. Why canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢Ãƒâ€š ¨t à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“christiansà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ keep their faith to themselves?

If all the people you meet talk of their faith (“I have met people of all faiths”) why then must Christians alone keep their faith to themselves?

America was founded on Judeo-Christian religion(s) and values. I wonder not only what you’re suggesting but why you’re suggesting it.

^^^I don’t think it makes him sound like a bitter queen, but I’ll change it.

  • Sublime1

I think we could all learn something from these 2 guys!

  • sammi

I think there are people that didn’t vote for Adam because he is gay, HOWEVER, come on do you really think that aren’t gay people that voted for him because he is gay. People that may have never voted before or maybe never even watch AI. And IMO there is nothing wrong with either of those. It’s their right. I vote for whom I want to based on my own reasons and preferences. It is more than who is the best singer. For me personally, if I hadn’t already loved Kris so much I might have voted for him against Adam, not becuz of Adam’s sexual preference, but just because of the way the producers pushed him and I know there were a lot of people who felt that way. I had to constantly remind myself it wasn’t Adam’s fault, but it really was annoying. So I don’t hold it against Adam, but it really ticked me off at times.

  • Heart

Awww! I love their big ol’ caring manhugs! Why did the tuber cut it off?? I want to see more!!!

They are my favorite two idol friendships of all time! Mavid was fun last year, but this one seems like they have a geniune “love you forever, man!” friendship! They are forever connected by this Idol experience.

  • Truthiness

^^^I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think it makes him sound like a bitter queen, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll change it.

Thank you mj! And maybe it doesn’t make him sound like a “bitter queen,” per se. But it really does put his answer into context that is more realistic. I don’t think it cost Adam the winners spot, but denying it took place at all to any extent, is simply not realistic. However sad that is. Le sigh. :down_tb:

Plus and more importantly, that wasn’t what the question asked, so it’s inaccurate. Just because the person in charge of this headline doesn’t care about the truth, doesn’t mean the rest of us should follow suit.

  • westcoastgirlie

OMG, MJ thanks so much for posting that adorable vid of Kris hugging Adam!! It really helps soften the blow of Adam’s loss to see the 2 finalists interacting and reacting the way that they do. It’s nice to see the brotherly bond they’ve created during this process, and the genunie support they have for one another. Plus, the fact that they are not afraid to publicly display their friendship by hugging it out on the “blue carpet” is a major plus in my book. Keep it classy, guys.

  • skylight1219

I also wonder if Katy Perry wearing that cape with Adam’s name on the back ticked off some viewers and caused a backlash? Anything is possible, but, I’d venture to say that the fans from Scott, Michael, Anoop Matt and Gokey rallied for Kris.

Whatever, they will both have wonderful careers. I actually prefer Kris’s voice over Adam’s screaming. But, I did enjoy some of the ballads he did. They were beautifully done.

Ellen is so supportive of AI contestants.

Just to clarify for those just tuning in…my original statement DID NOT rip off the headline. I never said his sexuality cost him the contest, but that it was “questions” about his sexuality.

Thank you for allowing me to be pedantic.

What I love most about this video is how enriched — truly enriched in an important way, not just a $/career way — these two guys emerged from knowing each other. Honest to god, it’s gives you hope. And, I am SO an Adam supporter (voted my little heart out) and was very slow to warm to Kris in the beginning of the season. Good for them both. They’re better people for being open to friendship with the other.

  • hollygo9

To paraphrase what the boybander once said, ‘…and I hope they’ll always stay the same…cuz there’s nothing about them I would change.’

I totally want a hug from both of them now. Such sweet boys =)

OMG–it’s like the Mavid all over again. I loved that clip. They are so full of joy and support for one another. Incredible.

  • cookcricket

Well, of course his sexuality affected the voting. Respectfully, imo, thatà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s somewhat short of saying it à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“cost him the competition.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

I’ll accept that it may have affected voting, but I’m not ready to get on the train that says it cost him the competition…

There were so many factors at play here including musical styles, and how the judges played their game. The musicians were widely embraced last year and this year when Kris began showing huge promise towards the end (and to me he did all along…), some may have actually found it refreshing to not have to go with TCO because there was actually another very talented horse in the race.

ETA: Just let me say it have have affected it a small percent.

Okay, I have a question. Before Kradam, there was Mavid. Before Mavid, there was Cake. Before Cake, there was Chrace.

Were there any bromances before Chrace? I started watching in season 4, and don’t remember that. It certainly wasn’t Con/Scott. LOL.

Anyway, I too have watched that video a ridiculous number of times.

Adam and Kris will both have my support always. And Allison. Canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t ever forget Lava Girl! :)

    Indeed.

I will also agree with sentiment expressed earlier that Adam most likely would have won against Gokey. However, I’d rather see Kris in the finale, even with this result. Go Kradison!

I would say Buddhism more than any other organized religion is the kindest and gentlest religion there is.

Why is it if someone is kind he/she is called a good Christian? It makes this culture of à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Christianityà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ? I have met people of all faiths who are such good kind-harted warm people. Why canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢Ãƒâ€š ¨t à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“christiansà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ keep their faith to themselves?

Thank you for saying that, I understand how you feel. Every time someone is kind, someone else assumes “they must be a Christian.” Not realizing that all religions teach loving-kindness, and yes, Buddhism stresses compassion and kindness. It’s offputting when people of any religion think they are the only ones who practice love and kindness, not aware of what other religions teach. Awareness is a good thing, and it is a good thing to study various religions and not just one, which tends to become myopic.

p.s. and I love the bromance video. I’m glad these two ended up in the finale. Perfect.

After re-watching that clip a hundred times, I think the only thing that could possibly be cuter than that would be if Allison ran up and got in on the hugging. The Davids were cute together, but Kradison melts my heart into a puddle of goo.

Oh gawd. Can you imagine the three of them in a big hug like that?! DAMN. Kradison FTW! [sigh]

I think Kris should leave his wife for Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦wouldn ¨Ãƒ ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t they be an adorable couple?

lol, I don’t think Kris should do that at all! One of the reasons why many straight men don’t have affectionate, emotionally intimate relationships with other men is because our society now assumes that there is something “gay” about it. When men show love toward each other these days, there is an automatic assumption that there must be (if only subconsciously) some kind of homoerotic element. Because of this cultural assumption, many straight men shy away from emotionally significant friendships, often settling for something shallow and insubstantial.

If you look up “romantic friendship” on wikipedia, it explains how, 100 years ago, friendships between men often exhibited a kind of non-sexual intimacy that is extremely rare today. Back then it was not at all unusual for straight men to have a kind of emotional–and even non-sexual physical–connection with other men.

I think it is great that Kris (as a heterosexual man) and Adam (whatever his situation is) are able to show physical affection, and emotional intimacy, with each other. It is an example of true masculine friendship. Kris does not have to leave his wife or have any kind of sexual relationship with Adam to love him and have a kind of intimacy with him. Kris and Adam are an example for our culture of what friendship can look like…it does not have to be all about a shallow machismo, nor does there have to be a sexual component to have a intimate union. This is a healthy development for masculine friendship in America.

(I also think of that scene at the end of Superbad (spoiler) where the two guys are able to say they love each other and enjoy a real intimacy without it being sexual. It’s great to see such friendships encouraged in popular culture.)

  • Layla

If all the people you meet talk of their faith (à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ I have met people of all faithsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ) why then must Christians alone keep their faith to themselves?

I didn’t say they talk about their faith. I teach at an international school and have travelled a great deal. People talking about their faith in a discussion is not the same as doing a type of “missionary” work by boring people ad nauseum about what bloody good Christians they are. The most bigoted and narrow-minded people I have met have been Christians-and proud of it.

America was founded on Judeo-Christian religion(s) and values. I wonder not only what youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re suggesting but why youà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re suggesting it.

This makes no sense to me.

    mikeyb:

But why must you sally forth and spread anything…religion should be private and respectful of others’beliefs.

In any case…Kris isn ¨’t shouting it from the rooftops and I hope he keeps his religious beliefs to himself where they belong.

I must say Kris being a Christian totally exemplifies exactly how Christians should act

    Layla
How ANYBODY should actà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦Adam is Jewish and I don’t find him any less loving and warm acting than Kris.

I was going to say the same thing. It’s not about being Christian – it’s about love and acceptance. Full stop. As both Adam & Kris have repeatedly said, they want to bring people together, not separate them. …The new Glambert Motto: “Embrace Differences” !!

  • baxter

Can I just add that the fact that these two give “real” hugs, not those pats on the back, no body contact, shoulder bump hugs that you typically see between two men!!!

Not to fan the fire, BUT….love and kindness are not the soul property of any religion. I think it is a matter of how one is raised to treat others and an inherent goodness we are born with that are at the soul root of behavior . I know many people that were not raised under the umbrella of any religious affiliation that are truly the kindess, most heartfelt people I have had the privledge to know.

Hahahahaa!!! I hear ya. I grew up in the Yukon, and while Canadians in general are not ignorant about this country and its climates, etc., a lot of people in other parts of the country think it’s pretty darn funny to makes jokes such as “Yukon eh? Did you live in an igloo?/Did you drive a dog sled team to school?/How often did you eat moose?/Did you have polar bears wandering down Main Street?/How many Eskimos do you know?” etc. etc. ad nauseum. Uh-huh. Laugh it up Jackasses. …Although to be fair/honest, at least they’re just joking (at least most of them are, haha!) – I’ve met people from other countries, the U.S. included (for shame!) who have no idea where the Yukon IS, let alone any actual facts about it. LOL

Adam is a class act. He could be bitter or jealous but he’s not (at least he doesn’t appear to be!).

And he’s the only contestant I’ve ever seen that thanked everyone for his success. He always thanked the musicians, the judges, Ryan, the fans, the voters.

    Class.

  • annabelina

rbidol FTW!!! I was going to make a comment along those lines, but I think you said it better than I ever could have. :)

I’m so happy you put this video up MJ! In the midst of all the bitter cup and cakes, it’s wonderful to celebrate the joy that is Kradam. I’m now ignoring all the negative comments. It’s so ridiculous. I’m not even going to go into the details of why because I much perfer to partake in the lovefest.

I’ve watched the vid way too many times. I totally died of cuteness the first time despite having seen the screenshot at Rickey’s and reading the warning in the vid. It was that they held onto each other after the hug like Adam was trying to keep sleep deprived Kris from falling over. SO CUTE!!!

Mavid was pretty awesome last year, but they were a very different type of bromance. They were more silly, goofball manly man love (case in point: chest bumps), Kradam is fuzzier … like puppies and rainbow love (i.e. Kris is the puppy and Adam is the rainbow, hahaha). Personally, I prefer Kradam, but that’s just me. And – I can’t believe I’m saying this – but I almost even prefer them over the Davids’ (unnamed, less spoken of) bromance, and that’s crazy because I adored them to pieces!

Honestly, I’ve really hated this season, but after seeing this vid, I realized that Kris and Allison (my two faves) and Addison and Kradam really made this season for me, so I guess Adam made this season for me too! I’m not a fan of his voice, but I really love him as a person.

Okay. I’m done gushing. Haha. *offers everyone a toothbrush*

  • http://www.myspace.com/swood1104 Sarah

For whoever asked before (I don’t think it was ever explained)- “Cake” was Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis from season 6. “Chrace” was Chris Daughtry and Ace Young from season 5.

PJ, I don’t remember any bromances from season 4 or before. But maybe someone else could fill in those gaps, if there were any.

  • rbidol

haha, thanks for everyone who has said they approve of my comments.

You know, even on Larry King tonight, Ryan used the word “bromance” as a way to segue into a question about Adam’s sexuality. There was like an involuntary jump in his mind from “close, intimate friendship between men” to “homosexuality”.

Just to repeat myself: that’s sad, because it tells guys that if there is an emotional connection between men, if there is genuine love between male friends–even the kind of intimacy Aristotle spoke of when he said that “Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies”–they must be gay. The implication is, obviously a straight man would never have deep feelings for another man! A straight man, we are encouraged to believe, can only love women and have shallow, insubstantial relationships with other men.

I think we see courage in Adam and Kris, because they are willing to publicly love and care for each other in the context of true friendship. Neither seems to care what other people think of them. It’s a great example, and I hope it makes it possible for more men in America to have deep and true friendships with other men and realize that this is a good and wonderful part of life. Maybe, on American Idol of all places, we are starting to see the revival of friendship between men, regardless of sexuality. This would be a great legacy for Kradam to leave behind.

lol, sorry to have repeated myself…but I do think this is an important subject, so its worth further exploring… I am in my mid-20s, and I see in my father’s generation such a lack of true and intimate friendship between men (I am generalizing here, obviously), which really can make life kind of lonely…even if you are happily married. People need more than just a spouse, friendship is still important! That’s why I think it is fascinating that, in my generation, there is this “bromance” phenomenon…as if the culture is craving something more in male friendship. As I say…I think it’s pretty cool!

  • erinnthered

I’ve just gotten a chance to go back and read, and I want to also echo rbIdol’s sentiments – in both posts! Also the sentiments about Christianity not being the sole standard for charity and love. All religions have those virtues at their center.

Growing up a Baha’i, I was surrounded by a lot of Persians, and talk about a different culture! Persian men are much more physically affectionate and a lot less threatened by that kind of intimacy with other men. It saddens me when I see non-Baha’is at at events who get uncomfortable seeing young Persian-American and other American Baha’is who grew up in the Faith being intimate with each other. I’ve had people question me about the sexuality of young men just because they would have the audacity to hug or hold another guy! Actually, in the same way Kris came up behind Adam! I never even though of it as odd until a few years ago when someone first questioned me.

Those two just bring joy to my heart. Really.

  • wellhesback

I really appreciate rbidol’s posts regarding “bromance”. and I love this video.

Slightly off topic but in many of the videos for Cook’s recent tour DC and his bandmates freely express the concern & caring for each other in “bromantic” ways – random touching and hugging. Cool.

It’s great to see men who can support each other like this. I think guys who can express feelings in this way are the ones who the most secure in their own sexuality.

  • http://youtube.com/user/ConcertCameraCat Sparkles

It’s official, Adam & Kris are the cutest top 2 ever.

Hmmmm………I’m still going for bromance with a crush…he nuzzled Kris’s ear in a video for freak’s sake, they should get it on already

  • sapphire

OMG I cannot stop watching this clip! I absolutely adore it. And I adore those two guys … what genuine love and affection they have for each other. What’s great is that the minute Adam turns around and they hug, they just keep talking to each other … it’s like they’ve completely forgotten they’re surrounded by media, etc. The fact that they can be so happy to see each other and check on how the other one is doing is made of precious.

I am a massive Adam fan, but seeing how Adam genuinely loves his friend makes me feel all right (…just about) that Kris took the title.

Back to watch again … :wub_tb:
