I thought he sounded great, I really like the way he’s singing “me” all high now, he looked dressed to impress, and he gave everyone something to talk about: shoulder ruffle/ribbon embellishment thingie, spats (?), and some Tommy/Adam action.

The debate about shoulder thing has begun in earnest and I, for one, thought it was very cool. Very avant garde look and those were a version of spats on the the man’s feet, again, so cool. And the vocal? Gorgeous.

Sitting back now to wait to hear someone pitch that Adam’s career is over because of what he was wearing.

Another terrific vocal from Adam. He looked gorgeous in that suit. His makeup was perfection. I love how he acknowledged his band at the end. They all looked so great. Well done Adam!

I am old enough to have seen Prince and Bowie on stage and Adam is really tame compared to those days….The black ornament on his shoulder was kind of a look on attire that was even seen in the 40′s
and I am remembering this from movies ( I am senior, but not that much)..I can remember Garbo movies for one…and, Bowie did, at one time, do very similar. Hey, Adam is going to change it up every time he can.We go from The Tonight Show look to his look tonight. I just sat and giggled so, my Aussie Blue Heeler ran downstairs scared to death.
I ran it back and the Tommy back hug was adorable and yes, I for one,
think it was a little snarky payback from Adam. I can imagine, as a child,
he must have kept his whole family on their toes constantly with his antics. What a talent and his voice just is out of this world. I have not had his cd out of the sync system in my car since before Thanksgiving.
I play Pick U Up every am on the way to work…I just cannot get over that bridge to the next octave he does after the word lover. I hope he does that song on his idol return and blows the roof off with that run!
I am a happy camper tonight and on with the show…What’s next????

Wow .. just watched his performance via the streaming here in the UK … totally loved it all .. loved how he changed it up from his other performances of the song and I loved how he “dressed up” more theatrical for the occasion.

Loved the whole outfit .. the suit, the spats, the hair and the eyemake up was fabulous .. the pierrot tear fitted in perfectly with the lyrics

Must admit when I first saw him I thought wtf’s he got on his shoulder .. a dead crow . .. a dead spider … has a flying cow done a dump on him .. lol …. but loved how it’s a talking point and “different”

I won’t watch him solo but I find his band interesting and they makes me like Adam’s performance more. I know the focus would still be on him (like daughtry) but I would officially get back on the Adam train if he decided to turn it into a actual band.

As pitchy as she was, at least Leona Lewis was singing live! I really cannot abide lip synching. I guess it is necessary sometimes, but I hope Adam, like his beloved band, Muse, can continue to avoid having to do it. So far, so good.

Adam was fantastic tonight. He sounded and looked so great. Man Leona and MaryJo sounded really pitchy. I think they need to listen to Adam to see how it’s done. Loved the ‘It’s me’ again! He sang perfect tonight.

When I saw that…thing?!… on Adam’s gorgeous suit and the tears on those beautiful eyes I immediately thought on Bowie. It just made me think of some Bowie images of the past. And I loved the spats!

Our edgy Adam made a little statement with the back-hug with Tommy. He had that mischievious grin and look in his eyes tonight. I loved it!!

I can’t believe after all this time watching him, I still am amazed by his vocal abilities. His vocals are so clear and impeccable. That kid knows how to steal the spotlight away from bigger stars, he was simply breathtaking. I am so happy and proud to be one of his fans.

EVen though it’s not “real” everyone in the band has said they want to be in it for the long haul. (presume Lisa vis a vis LP) And of course, Monte I don’t think is going anywhere. He said something like he’s been waiting for this forever and it was life changing… when he first started tweeting.

Well good vocals, especially considering there were obvious issues with the sound given Leona’s ripping her’s out after and Adam ripping his out early on.

HATED the dead octopus on his shoulder though. And not fond of his make-up. Liked the hair, liked the suits sans dead octopus and liked 40′s shoes.

My girls love him too. It was great to see Adam live on t.v. again. That was the first time for me since Idol.

Adam is up to #4 on Twitter and headed up on tweet count. And it is organic. Just people talking about his performance, and his outfit, and the choulder garb joke, and his Cabaret teardrop makeup. He must be a genius!

And the performance was good too.

I expect a SYTYCD bump in sales.

They are backup musicians to a solo act right now. They aren’t signed to the label or a formal band. So they’d have to formally decide to give up everything and commit to being “one”. Right now it won’t happen likely till Adam’s commitment is over with the label IMO. OR unless the label has another idea.

I loved the way he ended the song with that little vocal embelishment and loved how they had his album cover on the big screen in the background

This is only funny to me I’m sure. But the first time I heard of spats was from the French elephant in story books.

Anyway, Adam’s shoulder accessory didn’t bother me. My eyes kind of flew to what I loved like the tear drop, suit and shoes. I think his band is cool.

oh man, Adam was absolute vocal PERFECTION. The outfit was killer!! Shoulder things are kind of Adam’s “thing”, whether it be the glittery wing things he wore at the finale of AI, or the spikes he had at the AMAs and in his video, and now whatever this was! I for one loved it! and loved the eye makeup with the little tear and his shoes reminded me a little of Michael Jackson except taller loll just amazing!!

You think?! When she went over to Kat afterwards she was so out of breath from dancing that she could barely even speak much less sing. IMO, if you are a singer then you shouldn’t be doing movements that don’t allow you to, uhm, sing. Lip synching is lame.

Adam sounded amazing (nothing new to add to the previous x number of people that already said that, but I agree).

My favorite 3 made the final 3 so that made me happy. It really didn’t matter to me which of those three won so long as it was one of them. Although after seeing Russel win (my early season fav), I have to admit that I almost wished it were Jakob.

He seemed more relaxed since the whole AMA thing. I am a tremendous fan of his talent, but equally as impressed with his determination and grace under pressure.

I saw him at the last show of the Idols tour and posted here that he was going to be huge,huge,huge. And he will be. Love him.

Well I don’t believe he would do that and I think it’s doing him a disservice to think otherwise. We know he’s had the flu and he’s been bicoastal for the past two weeks. There is nothing worse than flying when you’re sick. You’re picking up other people’s germs….and Tommy has been sick for a while as well.

As for the band thing, iirc Monte once answered a tweet that they were (the band) in for long haul. But Lisa is on temperory leave from her teaching job. So I think it’s too early for a formal band formation because we do not know for sure how Adam’s career will sail. Adam said he wanted to be in a band and the other band members would be up front too. I think they want to form a band and waiting for things to be more clear.

Adam is on Chelsea Lately tonight. If he left SYTYCD sick I wonder if he won’t be on? Maybe it was taped earlier?

The audience was really into Adam when he performed. They were clapping and yelling for him! He definitely stoled the show.

Hope Adam gets some rest and eats right.

Awesome, awesome performance. I was loving the Conan one but this is my favorite now. His voice was perfect. I really like how the band looks too – they all mesh well together. Love Tommy!

So funny. We were all watching the show at my house, everyone made some joke or other about the shoulder thing, then Adam sang, and it was all about the music.

But, I get online, check Twitter, and there’s Adam at #3. I thought, “Um. Oh, no. What happened that I didn’t know about???” But, it was all good. Geez. Adam can actually perform on a show, and get recognition for his singing. Imagine that.

Folks, I feel like I can be fairly impartial about the vocal performances tonight as I have no investment in any of them. Personally, I found all the performances to be off and that includes Adam. I heard some missed notes, playing catchup. He just didn’t seem to be in control of the song tonite, to my ears. To tell you the truth, the only reason I’m commenting here, knowing that Adam’s fans are likely to tear into this, is I was truly surprised that folks were saying this was a perfect performance. What? Hey, even for performers I love, I can acknowledge when they’re not doing their best. Hearing Adam was sick doesn’t surprise me.

MJ wore the same shoes that Adam had on, I assume that Adams were a tad bigger, since he has bigger feet.

Folks, I feel like I can be fairly impartial about the vocal performances tonight as I have no investment in any of them. Personally, I found all the performances to be off and that includes Adam. I heard some missed notes, playing catchup. He just didn’t seem to be in control of the song tonite, to my ears. To tell you the truth, the only reason I’m commenting here, knowing that Adam’s fans are likely to tear into this, is I was truly surprised that folks were saying this was a perfect performance. What? Hey, even for performers I love, I can acknowledge when they’re not doing their best. Hearing Adam was sick doesn’t surprise me.

Well because this is what you feel you heard does not make what I heard less correct because I am a fan. Also MJ thought the vocals were and I quote A stunning vocal, absolutely! She is not a fan so what is the excuse you have for that. You opinion is appreciated and respected (by me) but please don’t dismiss my opinion just because I am fan. Besides I am a fan and his vocals were bad on the AMA so obviously being a fan does not effect my hearing.

Adam knocked it out of the park tonight. I was so happy I got up and clapped in my living room. It reminded me of the season when I said week after week “he did it again”.

EVen though it’s not ‘real’  everyone in the band has said they want to be in it for the long haul. (presume Lisa vis a vis LP) And of course, Monte I don’t think is going anywhere. He said something like he’s been waiting for this forever and it was life changing’ ¦ when he first started tweeting.

perhaps I should make myself clearer. By being a band I mean letting the band mates show there musical chops a little more too and featured in such things like music videos and more for performances. and having the band featured more. for example I wouldn’t listen to Gwen Stefanie solo but I love no doubt because they all musically talented and there songs let them all show it. same for green day. with Adam it’s all about showing off his voice which is fine but I would like to see something that was a little more, um sorry I don’t know how to say this quite right….. instrumental? where it shows all the bands talent and not just Adam’s.

I think the sound was off for Leona and Adam. I think he came off much better at a couple of his live performances last week, but have to give much of the blame to the sound at SYTYCD.

And on to his appearance…what was that on his shoulder? and not a fan of this suit. Why didn’t his peeps put him in a knock out outifit like they did on Ellen?

This shoulder thing sounds like a GATE to me, maybe someone should Twitter Adam and ask him what in the hell it was, I am sure he will get a kick out of it.

Monte is a really good guitarist and that piano player did some nice harmonizing. I thought it started well, but I’m not into the OTT stuff at the end. I’m sure I’m a minority.

LOL obviously in thread about Adam you would be in the minority but you have always stated that OTT stuff is not your thing. I am going to focus on that you said it started well.

I liked Adam’s voice, for example, and I thought that it might be problematic given the problems Leona had with her performance and that obviously given that Adam ripped his earpiece out fairly quickly, that it was something everyone was dealing with. So kudos to that.

Though I disagree with mj and others, don’t like his improve on the “it’s me,” one minor quibble for me as I liked the rest of the song.

I was watching this with my boyfriend, who really liked AL on Idol and bought his compilation after the AI finale. We both agreed that his voice was off, and my boyfriend really didn’t like the song. [He termed it whiny.] In AL’s defense, most of the performances seemed at least somewhat off, with Mary J. Blige probably being about the best of the ones who actually bothered to sing live. [Looking at you, JLo.]

I respectfully disagree with people saying Adam’s vocal was off. The AMAs were off. To my ear, this was dead on. And creatively improvised in a way that added something for those of us that have watched the multiple performances of it.

It makes sense to me! I think your in one of your post you mentioned it probably wouldn’t happen until either his contract is over. I think it may happen on the next Album and it probably will happen on the tour. Just for logical reason like given Adam some rest time while the drummer drums or the guitar player plays ect….

I must be in the minority but that outfit with the shoulder thing was totally hot. Loved it, it reminded me of one of my favorite singers, David Bowie. That man was totally freaky and I loved everyone of his masterpieces. Adam was pure perfection, from the top of his gorgeous head to his tippy toes. I must say that outfit got everyone talking, I wonder who designed that tastefully, conservative suit, with a small embellishment. I hope he wears more like it.

Agree the tie was terrific. The whole outfit was incredibly well thought out. Not a single detail left to chance.

And, yes, Monte looked great too. Loved that jacket. Lisa and Tommy also rocked their looks and LP just looked HAWT! I don’t think LP can look anything but sexy.

OK, I read some of the comments and just have to put my 2 cents in, I think Adam looked like star up there, the suit ( yes, with the applique on the shoulder!), the make up (gorgeous!) and the vocals- AMAZING! So proud of him, he makes every performance of the same song original and memorable, and this is my favorite by far. Btw, they just showed a clip of his performance on fox-5 news at 11, saying how Adam is back with his voice back front and center and pimping his new years gig. You go, Adam!

Finally. The low-end has the punch it needed. Don’t know if it’s just better video quality (I didn’t see the show), better sound mix in the venue, or the band finally recognizing the need, but bringing up the rhythm section is a huge improvement. I wonder if Tommy’s gear change is a coincidence, or part of that solution? Drums were way more interesting too – I don’t know if it was different or just more audible, but both drums and bass were finally giving me what I’ve been missing on both the album and the other live performances.

Now, do this when Adam’s got crow-hair and street clothes, and I’ll be really happy. He can keep the cry-baby tear. That’s a good touch.

And I’m thinking Adam should start a whole line of one-sided epaulettes: cracked egg, talking parrot, little shrunken dead-twin head, quasi-moto hump, bird doo, potted plant, ambrosia salad, etc. Or maybe just start gluing on the various stuff that was thrown at him all summer. (Maybe that’s what he is doing already) This one reminded me of charcoal snakes: I kept waiting for it to glow and grow and eventually burn up the shoulder of his suit.

While the first performance or two of this song were special as a kind of passionate “comeback” this might be my favorite vocally. I love the flourishes.

I’m glad he got the gig and hope it helps with sales and radio.

I believe it is due to two things, 1) while Adam has been off doing the Jingle Ball gigs the band were practicing together, 2) tonight was big and they all knew it and stepped up beautifully.

Tonight Adam made a few nods to Bowie in how he dressed and the tear drop makeup. Wow! Can’t wait for NYE!

I saw the Leno cameo totally by accident. A guy was trying to kiss women under mistletoe and then the last scene showed Adam leaning in for a kiss and then saying “I can’t do this” and then moving away. It happened so fast I thought it was an Adam imposter but the guy moved just like Adam and I thought that must have been him. It was funny!!

His management and label should be congratulated for doing a magnificent job of promoting this new artist across the media spectrum at near saturation levels. Brilliant.

I loved everything about this performance. The outfit was killer and the makeup was perfect. I thought he sounded steller and that little trill he did on “it’s me,” made me melt. He and the band (love them) stepped it up big-time.

Haha, WHAT is that thing on his shoulder? Never mind; I’m glad it’s there, and that he’s slowly edging back into a more glamorous style. A dash of weird is good.

He looks very pretty, but the continued weight loss is starting to worry me. I hope he knows when to stop. I winced a bit at how skinny his legs are. Rather than diet, he should work out and build some muscle. It’s healthier.

As for the performance, the switch to a higher register for “it’s me” sounds more fitting and practiced this time, and is quite a beautiful little moment. Earlier in the performance, he had a few spastic moments, kind of like Allison-lite, that distracted me a bit, but I liked the parts where he was singing while holding the mic stand behind him.

On Leno, Adam is on for only about 30 seconds. The comedian doing the mistletoe skit says he’s going to kiss the next celebrity who comes around the corner, and low and behold, it’s Adam! They lean in as if to kiss, but Adam then pulls away and says he can’t. His name is never mentioned, but everyone knew it was him. It was very unexpected and very funny (best part of that skit actually!)!

Okay…. I see what you mean. But he has HUGE eyes when he just sings and they are massively expressive. But when he smiles big, I get the raccoon eyes.

At the risk of provoking tomato throwing, I have a criticism. I was not crazy about Adam’s look – but I had to laugh and give credit to him for how he always makes it interesting. The eye makeup was really cool – and of course he has an amazing voice.
What gets me though, and I didn’t realize it until tonight, is how ordinary WWFM is. I didn’t notice it when he was dressed like an emo rocker. But when he presented himself in this avante garde mode tonight, it was more than the song. The song didn’t match up to it. Not the vocals – the song. Trying to make sense here….
I can’t wait until Adam has time to develop into a total performer with his songs. Something like down the rabbit hole would just match his funkiness a little more.

I wouldn’t say I would have wanted this on the AMAs. It was a great performance but he needed something more out there for the AMAs. I still think that the AMA performance could have totally rocked if so many things hadn’t contributed to its down fall (bad sound, poor vocals, adam falling, and adam’s general adrenaline levels running amock). The performance was incredibly staged, the dancers amazing, the visuals with the mirrored door swinging both ways was incredible. Really there was so much good there. I really hope he brings it back for the tour (even if in a smaller way) because I’d love to see him rock it.

I can’t wait until Adam has time to develop into a total performer with his songs. Something like down the rabbit hole would just match his funkiness a little more.

I’ve always thought this song was too bland for him. Aftermath even more so. If I could kick one song off the disk, it’d be Aftermath. If I could kick two off I’d add this one. It isn’t that it’s a bad song. It’s just that it doesn’t have the musical or lyrical punch that so many of the others have. But it is incredibly radio friendly and therefore probably a necessary beast to break people into his sound slowly. And with the live performances, he’s really starting to own it and make it more him.

I caught just a little of Adam’s performance tonight. I didn’t really listen to the vocal, I was too busy trying to figure out what that crap was on his shoulder.

ITA — I made my own digital FYE album with replaces WWFM with Master Plan and replaces Aftermath with Down the Rabbit Hole. But I think WWFM is Top 40 worthy (not my usually music anyway), and Aftermath will be great live and I really like the lyrics.

Ahh – another great night for Adam! Had an amazing performance, then a HILARIOUS Chelsea interview – loved it!

The SYTYCD performance was so strong! LOVE LOVE LOVE the vocal riffs he’s playing with now – “It’s me…” – so beautiful!

Lol to everyone asking me – “what’s that on his shoulder?” Eh, it seemed very Gaga-esque (in a good way) imo No way he’s just wearing a straight-forward suit (though the suit looked HOT!)

And that moment when he walked over to Tommy, and the lean – Wow – I had this thought like “is he going to do something shocking now?” Part of me LIVES for those moments in an Adam performance – there’s always a bit of mystery and danger when he’s on that stage. Never a dull moment! Loved it all!

What gets me though, and I didn’t realize it until tonight, is how ordinary WWFM is. I didn’t notice it when he was dressed like an emo rocker. But when he presented himself in this avante garde mode tonight, it was more than the song. The song didn’t match up to it. Not the vocals ‘“ the song. Trying to make sense here’ ¦.

Yep. His material is not yet all that great. Ok, but not great. WWFM is, as you say, ordinary. It has its moments that fit well, and it has its moments that don’t. For me, a “doesn’t fit” part is the pseudo-acoustic opening guitar riff. Nothing wrong with it in and of itself, just kind of a disconnect with some other aspects of the song and performance.

I wish it had worked out for Red One to work on the album. The GaGa tune is the one that, IMO, sounds the most complete and thoroughly done, and I wonder if having one sure hand&ear to think it all through would have been a good thing.

WOW- just woke up and saw this- so before I read everyone else’s opinions (which I will of course) I just want to say:

1. Stunning vocal- just absolutely fantastic- with all the great embelishments of the Conan performance, but dropping the ones thatIMO (and I guess in Adam’s too) didn’t work (like “ara-ya-hou-nd”).

2. The whole concept of this performance, I think, was to resemble his look from the AMA (wairing silver, elvis hair, heavy make-up) and delicious back rub with TommyJoe (I would soo like to lock myself in a room with those two… ) and that “Clockwork Orange” eye make-up homage… Adam Lambert in all of his fabulousity!!!!

I wouldn’t say I would have wanted this on the AMAs. It was a great performance but he needed something more out there for the AMAs. I still think that the AMA performance could have totally rocked if so many things hadn’t contributed to its down fall (bad sound, poor vocals, adam falling, and adam’s general adrenaline levels running amock). The performance was incredibly staged, the dancers amazing, the visuals with the mirrored door swinging both ways was incredible. Really there was so much good there. I really hope he brings it back for the tour (even if in a smaller way) because I’d love to see him rock it.

LOL – so true! The Leona and J Lo songs themselves were borderline attrocious – so monotonous. And seriously that Avatar song actually got a Golden Globe nomination over TFM? WTF? That is what is wrong with the rules for these award shows.

Still, he…. like….. totally killed Leona Lewis and did an amazing job. The glitz and glam is not my cuppa, but he’s easily a very excellent performer.

I really like the live version of this song…takes all the boy band effect away. Adam was sporting sorta Clock Orange thingy with the eye make-up. I liked it. It’s my favorite part too….at least until you get to Adam’s new “it’s me, I’m a freak” change, then the vocal is so hot! that it kills me. Loved it the first time he did on Conan (it was Conan, right?). Love it even more in this more glam performance. Finally, I feel like Adam is starting to let loose a little again after the AMAs. I was starting to be afraid they were going to keep him toned down forever. This performance really let him shine.

I’ve watched all of Adam’s live performances of WWFM, and this is the one I can’t stop watching. I love the makeup and the outfit, especially the shoes. He really looks stellar to me. I think the outfits for all band members were put together really well. Loved Tommy’s dancing as well. Thought that got a few cheers from the audience. Also enjoyed seeing the judges clapping along to the music.

So here’s the thing. I like Gene Simmons. But that was a priceless, hysterical comment.

I’m glad he kept the “it’s me” falsetto, although I kinda prefer the one in Conan. Maybe because it was the first time i heard it??? I dunno, the first one was a little bit more organic – Mr. Lambert came across as more vulnerable. I missed the vocal trill he did with “I’m a freak” (also during Conan). But overall, I think this performance was more polished.

This one reminded me of charcoal snakes: I kept waiting for it to glow and grow and eventually burn up the shoulder of his suit.

^^^Yes! I started to write about this earlier but I couldn’t remember what those darn things we used to light on the sidewalk when we were kids in Illinois were called (on the 4th of July). That’s totally what that thing on his shoulder looked like, but I have never seen them in California. Fireworks are pretty much banned at least in SoCal because of our huge fire danger.

Anyway, I don’t think that’s what Adam had in mind, but that’s what it looked like to me too.

I thought the whole performance was great. Everyone was dressed up for the SYTYCD finale, judges and even the audience looked nice so it was fitting Adam wore a suit even if he did pile something or other on his shoulder, no matter he still looked great. Loved the shoes, everything, including his vocals, was stellar.

I think one of the reasons that Adam has a lot of *older* fans is because we remember the old days when it wasn’t considered weird for a singer to dress up and sport an exotic look. I’m sure Adam has a lot of younger fans too and will attract more as time goes on and bring them into the fold. It’s a lot more fun to be entertained by someone who keeps on surprising you – as long as Adam doesn’t dress up like a chicken or something I’ll stay happy.

Great performance tonight. Adam sang beautifully. The band looked great. Monte wore a really cool outfit. Love the “spats”. Happy Russell won and hope he recovers soon.

Is it just me, or did the thing on his shoulder resemble a big pile of crap? Literally. Some sort of statement to ABC and others?

As ya’ll know I’m NOT at all a fan of Adam’s and while I thought he looked ridiculous, he actually sounded quite good. I heard that song on the radio recently and think it’s okay actually. Will never buy anything from him, but I give credit where its due.

I love that he decided to walk the line of “mischievious” and “family friendly” on this one- it was completely sexy, he had on his most seductive face, definitely showed the mic stand some lovin’, and best of all- snuggled against TommyJoe’s back and grinned (saying “never gonna hide my sexuality to please anyone”)…
And he just sounded soooo good!
I couldn’t hear any sickness in his voice at all… what a pro!

Just the most enchanting brillance, the most beautiful charismatic stage performer, the most amazing singer, the most entertaining person, week by week in any media all year long. Thanks for a great year wonderful brave honest boy and best wishes always.

Do you think the live stream will be available for people outside the US? I have a bad feeling it won’t, so I’ll have to wait for the youtube anyway… And it’s such a shame, because it will be friday morning here by the time LA celebrates the New Year- and I don’t work on fridays!! I think except for the tarantula/poop/placenta (or whatever) on his shoulder, Adam did an amazing performance… vocal is stunning & spot on! I almost peed on my pants with that back2back rub with Tommy; thought he’ld pull another stunt.

But obviously they planned it- he came to snuggle up to Adam exactly on “I won’t let you down”… I could write an article about the many meanings of that gesture along with that lyric…
I also like that the camera finally focused on Tommy for a change after the back rub… (in previous shows the camera was always snubbing him in favour of the other band members- I think bass players are always ignored somehow, don’t you? They’re very underappreciated, because people who aren’t musically savvy never hear the bass anyway… myself included… even though I really try! Only in bands like Red Hot Chily Peppers I can hear the bass…)

Loved Adam’s performance last night. I got to see my two favorite idols perform last night, and they both were rocking it. When is Adam’s next appearance? I know his doing the New Years thinging, but does he have anything before that. I’M so in love with WDYWFM and my two kids were playing with the drums and guitar from are rock band and were trying to sing the song yesterday. It was so funny and cute. They both are like me and love Adam and Kris. Even thou my son is more Kris and my daughter is more Adam of in fan. My oldest doesn’t say much about any of them.

WWFM is #38 on the POP mediabase chart this morning! Adam is on Leno next week.

When looking at iTunes, you really need to look at the Pop Song category to make a fair representation of Adam. Right now he is at #31 WWFM ad #34 FYE on iTunes Pop.

The problem is that this time of year, iTunes tends to have a TON of xmas songs that are crowding the tops of the charts and lowering Adams’ overall position.

Well I don’t know what standing back to back with Tommy has to do with being blatantly gay but to each their own. Rock bands do it all the time and they’re not gay. Whatever….

It isn’t blatantly gay IMO (did anyone say so on this thread? Maybe I missed it?), but it’s definitely somewhat homo-erotic- or at least sensual… And yep, rock bands used to do it all the time (not so much these days)… BB’s bringing a lot of things back, thankfully!

Just listening to that again, it truly is amazing on many levels:

1) The fact that he could sing that flawlessly and in key without his earpiece. Anyone else who has ever performed on stage knows that singing in pitch when you can’t hear yourself is almost impossible.

2) He sounded amazing compared to Leona and Ms Blige. NO ONE sings better live than Adam.

3) I think the thing with the black placenta on his shoulder (I hear it might have been roses?) is that it probably looked MUCH cooler in person, but just ended up looking like an exploded crow over non-HD TV. Too bad because the suit would have looked rad all by itself.

I love how unabashedly anachronistically ’80s adam’s band’s look is!
Visual eye candy, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the ’80s.

My teenage daughter immediately noticed Adam’s shoes (I never notice these sorts of things, lol!) and said “look, he’s wearing Michael Jackson’s shoes!”.

I mentioned the 80′s look to her, noting Tommy’s Flock-of-Seagulls do. Then I had to explain to her who Flock of Seagulls were, LOL. She thinks Tommy is super cute. Upon closer inspection, so do I!

I can’t wait for Adam’s tour. His show will be such a treat! He can throw as much simulated sex into it as he wants, I don’t even care – I just want to hear him sing!

The black thing on the shoulder suggested a variety of things, none of them pleasant. To me it was gross and detracted from how nice he looked otherwise. But it achieved the desired effect, people talking about it.

Impressive jump! I knew SYTYCD would have a big impact since it is a show that usually moves some units on iTunes. Conan and Letterman never seem to affect sales that much. I wonder if Leno will have any impact?

That’s only really a significant problem in the lower rankings. I only count three Christmas songs ahead of Adam (perennial favourites by Mariah and Trans-Siberian Orchestra and new-to-Christmas-music, Lady Gaga (PSST, you lame-o purchasers of this song….Amazon is giving it away free until Christmas)).

There is always something unusual that high on the chart. Christmas songs or Halloween songs or some song featured in some viral youtube video about people dancing at a wedding. Just be glad Glee didn’t have a new episode this week or there would probably be 4 or 5 more songs pushing WWFM down the rankings.

Just got to watch this performance, as I was at Disneyland all day and all I can say is, “It was perfection!” The look of the band, Adam’s outift, Tommy and Adam, ‘It’s me’, the vocal …… absolute perfection!

Just to add to good news…according to IDF Adam’s FYE sales (album) INCREASED this week… 54,000

Adam’s vocal was gorgeous but I absolutely hated his wardrobe.

If I had to choose one over the other, I’d take the voice anytime, so it’s all good.

lol… have to say loved everything about this performance. This ‘its me’ version.. actually gives me goosebumps everytime i listen to it and I think I prefer this one than the conan version.

About the arm thingy, I think its like what lady gaga does all the time. Adam is tamer compared to Lady Gaga. She wears weird stuff and people have now come to expect that from her. So I don’t see it as a downer. It adds to the talking point.

I still dont understand ppl problem with the applique on Adam’s suit! It was a genious way to bring a little femininity to the otherwise very manly suit. You see similar appliques on a lot of avangard women fashion, it looked like flowers to me, but in black silk, totally went with his overall look, make up, the way his band looked, everything! The whole performance was just so incredible, vocals, the way he changed up the song (and to do it after ripping his earpiece out), he manages to make the same song fresh and memorable every performance! Like I said, GENIOUS !

This video is awesome! I love his ensemble and the back to back action with Tommy. Tommy needs more face time. He’s soooo pretty! Great performance. Band sounded great. Love Adam’s vocal and interpretation of the song.

Ya know what? The eyes are different…it’s not the eyeliner it’s the brows. They are either freshly dyed or being colored in. I noticed it at Conan. I love the way his eyes look, but I did notice something different.

Maybe he won’t sing any covers – but it is kinda typical for any kind of extended set, especially for newer artists. If he was just singing a handful of songs, I’d say they’d all be new, but when you need a high energy set, and you only have so many songs out on the album that fit that bill, I’m guessing at least one or two covers (again, maybe he won’t )

But covers can be a good thing to throw in, because people know them, and I for one have nothing against him doing a few, because he just makes them so much more new and exciting!

He needs more casual buyers and singing a couple of classic covers is a smart way to get people’s attention. Not only that, but his voice really shines on them.

Even big bands like U2 always sing covers. It’s the difference between a concert with a bunch of songs nobody knows from a new cd and a concert with a couple songs people immediately recognize and can relate on a deep emotional level. They’ll pay attention to everything else.

Let’s be real, most people there won’t necessarily know all his songs and I’m thinking there won’t be millions of fans paying for this PPV. It’s like how fans want him to sing something else other than WWFM on tv shows because THEY are bored. Not gonna happen. Sometimes you have to make smart marketing decisions and not do whatever you think fans want. Maybe it was one of his mistakes on AMA.

I really REALLY hope he sings a couple covers. For most people a long set of songs you never heard of is really freaking boring. But I think he’s smart enough to know that there will be more people than only his fans.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan, but also love his live versions of classic songs. Lovelovelove.

While he may have enough songs to fill the whole set just from the album, I still go for a cover or two – they just really create more natural variety in a set, for any performer. And, yeah, it can definitely open up new fans to your original stuff.

Say you have new people listening to the set, they hear MA, Sure Fire Winners, they’re like “ok, ok…” Then they hear him cover WLL (just throwing that out there as an example), and they’re blown away like we were on tour (“OMG – love that song, high energy, killer vocals, etc.”) Then they start hearing more from the album, and they’re digging it even more, “wow this guy is amazing!”

Ha! Have no idea if that’s how people think, but I definitely see covers as being a good “door” for people to step into Adam’s world if they’re not yet sure

yep, he should do a few covers, plus remember this is New Year’s Eve party, people want to have fun and listen to music they like. I am a huuuuge Adam fan, but it took me a couple of listenings to really get some of his songs.
I would choose Pick U Up, Fever, FYE and Music Again you can dance to all those songs

I would be shocked and mildly disappointed if he did any covers NYE! He is absolutely great covering other songs, but he has an album full of win, and would be crazy not to fully promote that.

Wow well adam’s prime time appearance on sytycd last nite has really resulted in measurable positive bumps. Between the no 1 on z-100 and the 50/60 spot bump up in itunes that was one worthwhile tv performance

I really REALLY hope he sings a couple covers. For most people a long set of songs you never heard of is really freaking boring. But I think he’s smart enough to know that there will be more people than only his fans.

I don’t understand why people are shocked at the idea of an artist doing covers to round out a concert. Especially when an album is brand new, and most people don’t know the material yet. While no doubt there will be Adam fans at Gridlock, the majority of people there will be there for the party. By interspersing songs from his album with a handful of typical crowd favorites, you can keep the party going. I hope he takes that into consideration.

Like a poster above said, this is very similar to a common complaint that he needs to sing something new instead of WWFM during appearances, mostly because they’ve seen every appearance and they’re bored. But that’s not what he needs to do for his career, he needs to promote the hell out of his single. And on NYE he needs to take hold of the Gridlock crowd and keep it by whatever means necessary. And if that means a couple rawkin covers, I hope he goes for it.

Well thanks Nigel for having faith in Adam, and letting him on the show, and giving people confidence in him again. So he will be on the upswing after the AMA mess that I think mostly hurt him for a couple of weeks. I think it all turned out ok, and now he knows what will work for him, even tho it sucked how it all went down. As he said he didnt think he did anything wrong, and they used him to get people to hang on and watch the show. And (wink) he did give us a little stuff on the show to tease us.!!!!

Saw Pink a few months ago and she did at least 5 covers. Concert was amazing and people like to sing along to things they know by heart.
Adam’s band has to learn all these new songs in 14 days, I have no idea if that’s easy or not.
No matter what he sings, you all know it’s going to be fantastic.

I think FYE, WWFM, MA, Fever and IIHY are sure bets… the first 3 because he has performed them before and the last 2 because that’s the songs that DJ’s have been playing when Adam has been on the radio for interviews.

Apart from these… I guess I want to here PUU, Strut and Sleepwalker… and then there is the softer songs like Soaked and Broken Open.

I’ve been reading and hearing for almost a year that the most thrilling aspect of Adam’s stint on AI was to see just what original and completely surprising performance he would come up with week to week. (It was for me), and IMHO he never failed!…..and they were covers – every one! I find it amusing that people now think an Adam cover is “not worth the ticket price”. If I could make it to Gridlock, I would be thrilled w/ whatever set this performer chose to play.

Just WOW…Adam was amazing! So HAPPY this week…got my reservations for the Leno Show on Monday…flying down to LA again on NYE for Gridlock…I can’t wait!!! Merry Christmas to me!!

He had no choice but to sing covers on AI. There’s no comparison to what he did on AI to the amazing opportunity he has with the Gridlock concert. Not wanting to hear him sing covers during his first solo concert has nothing to do with being an entitled fan. It has everything to do with me wanting Adam’s CD to sell and this concert will hopefully be a great promotional opportunity in that regard.

Of course Adam is going to do some covers as part of his set. First off, not every song off his album is the kind of higher octane song that fits an NYE party. Second off, yeah, he’ll want to get that party going and a way to do that is to a cool, rock cover. Not to mention that he’s good at them and likes classic rock. While Sweet Child Of Mine is a bit too downtempo, Welcome To The Jungle would be killer to hear Adam do.

And a Queen song? I would FLOVE to hear Adam break out some Queen and I’m sure he’d love to sing it.

And if I was paying? I’d be paying to hear Adam sing cool songs, new and old, that he would then sing well doing.

The Gridlock concert…. I would hope that the closest thing he comes to a ballad is WWFM. This is New Years Eve Party, and people don’t want to be put to sleep – they want to be up shakin their asses. Of course it is a good marketing opportunity for the album, but more importantly a marketing opportunity for Adam the performer.

jericho….I think you misunderstood me, or I wasn’t as clear as I should have been (more likely!). I disagreed w/ the notion that Adam singing covers was on par w/ the local karaoke bar. To me, his covers on AI demonstrated a level of originality and genius that always make the song his own. (I think his studio recording of “One” is superior to the original.)
If he chooses to perform a cover on NYE to fit w/ the occasion…I’m positive it will be kick-ass. I’m totally jealous of all of you that will be partying w/ Adam on NYE! ..have a blast and come back and share w/ us poor souls!

I don’t know why but I haven’t felt at all bad that Adam didn’t sing at the JB’s. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I know I wouldn’t have liked attending them because they seem rushed, random, and disconnected (not the individual artists but the way they’re presented).

They seem unpleasantly more like a “frenzy” to me than a “celebration,” but I’ve read how they are important to artists’ relationships to the radio stations, so I’m glad Adam got to “host” them (but really he just introduced).

So, I’m good with the slow(er) but steady pace of Adam performances. GMA, Letterman, Ellen, The View, Conan, SYTYCD – that’s been fine for me, and I like hearing him work WWFM for all it’s worth. I love the way he’s sung “me” these last two times out (the same way I loved the way he sang “nervous” in MW). That falsetto “me” is my new aural “precious,” I just want to hear it over and over again.

And, of course, I’ve the CD to listen to, which I do practically daily.

I’ve not read the comments, but I can only imagine. LOL If I look at it solely as an outfit, I’d say it’s a rare fashion miss for Adam.

BUT, if I choose to art (tart?) it up, I’d say that suit is enough similar to the AMAs and the shoulder piece is the burnt film from the original taping of the AMAs, which appears quite nicely with the tear smear on his eyeliner and the song lyric for WWFM. Essentially, and sadly for the artist in Adam, it’s a do-over. And, he threw in the back bump and rub with Tommy to connect it all up and to say he is who he is regardless.

i decided that accessory was from a ferret getting tangled up in a black spool of french wired ribbon and then velcro-ed on his shoulder. otherwise, i loved the entire outfit, suit, tie bar, spats, all so very, very classy, imo. could’nt figure out the eyeliner thing though. he has sounded better on all the talk shows he’s been on, i just don’t think that arena is really set up for live singing acts.

Adam sounded positively fantastic. THE BEST live version of WWfM yet. He’s now clearly making the song his own, fine tuning it just like he did his set on the AI summer tour. Brilliantly creative costuming from the tear drop to the retro chic spats.

I also thought it was reminiscent of the 1930′s dead- fox- on- the- woman’s -collar -mostly -on -one -shoulder look in keeping with his 30′s vibe of FYE and last night’s gorgeous suit and shoes. The thing that surprises me is the analysis of his sound. He sounded great to me. I could tell he was working on a cold on Ellen when he talked but singing not as much but I’d say he had a different sound on Ellen if you’re really picking it apart like a mom would (about the cold lol) All of the idol tour shows sounded different depending on the venue and it’s hard to set up sound for multiple performers too. Obviously they didn’t do a great job on SYTYCD given Cat’s mic situation and each performer with the earpiece thing….

I don’t think he was funnin with that suit, tie, collar pin and shoes but I know it’s probably what alot of people thought. I thought it was polished perfection and wish more men would bother caring.

I thought they were gorgeous. And I thought the epaulette was the perfect finish for a theatrical fashion forward look. I think we’re so used to vanilla blah people on stage it’s so refreshing that someone cares enough to get dressed.

I can’t remember at all what Mary J wore. Like a skirt with a blouse? Like I see in my office?

Awwww I was checking ITunes and Weezer has a Christmas album of traditional xmas songs and it’s really cute/good. It’s only 4.99 so maybe people will download to thank Rivers Cuomo for being such an Adam fanboy and giving him his favorite most awesome some PUU. 5 stars on there.
