Adam was fabulous. Just goes to prove American Idol got it wrong. He should have won hands down. Why don’t we hear much about the winner “Chris” who?

  • koshka

I’m an Adam fan, but I can’t help but think this last comment about “Chris” was a simple drive by. I chose not to add to the commentary.

  • adamlover

adam did a great job and the fact its like he seems “friendly” with everyone makes it even more enjoyable. thank you for posting these!!

  • Ptnyc34

Props to the people at ET for booking Adam for this gig. The singers Adam spoke with seemed like they were actually having fun rather than just going through the motions on the red carpet, like they normally do. It’s nice to see them relaxed and having a good time when they do this stuff.

  • lucy

I love the way Adam loves fun clothes — the feel of the fabrics, the colors. Sensual appreciation — that little kid constantly playing dressup is who he is and always will be, I guess. His enthusiasm for outfits cracks me up.

    Adam was fabulous.

Yes. He did an amazing job. And he looked great! He has such a great presence, and makes everyone feel comfortable, beautiful, and sexy.

Just goes to prove American Idol got it wrong. He should have won hands down.

Darn, I missed Adam’s performance at the Grammy’s which proves he should have won American Idol. What, hold on, Adam didn’t perform?
Oookayyy … so … how does being a (fantastic) correspondent for ET “goes to prove American Idol got it wrong”?
I am not agreeing or disagreeing that AI got it wrong, I just want to understand the logic.

  • star

lol, Adam and Ke$ha. Their pretend relationship is amusing. These video clips are fun. :D P!nk’s dress looked so beautiful and intricate…I bet it was even more gorgeous in person!

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

    He’s into backs.

  • JazzRocks

Adam did a great job (when Kevin let him speak – LOL) and looked fabulous. Best dressed male for sure. John Legend 2nd.

  • justshootme

Love Adam and Ke$ha’s faux romance. Cracks me up.

  • http://onlinepastrychef.wordpress.com/ onlinepastrychef

To quote Adam, “Ooooh, so pretty!”

  • OhMyRawrrr

I had complimented J-Hud’s body in another thread, completely forgetting that she recently had a baby – wow – she’s doubly smokin’ hot!!! And she’s tall too. I had a little bubble burst with Usher – didn’t realize he was so short. He looked like a little mini-man there.
Aww, Adam gets ready to go out just like me – a little music, a little pre-party drink ;)

Taylor’s little interview was cute. Carrie is gorgeous and can sing like nobody’s business, but her interview left me cold. Don’t know why.

  • CFIdolsfan

Adam did great on these interviews. I often think of CoJo (sp?) who does this for ET. He can really tell you who he thinks is blah, lol. I’m curious to know if he was there, and how much he might differ from Adam.

I love in the second clip, how Adam puts his arm around Fergie at about 5:05. She fidgets for several seconds with her hands while he glances a couple times at her…then he sticks his arm around her waist and draws her in a little bit. She immediately puts her arm around his waist as seems more at ease. He’s such a gentleman.

Come on guys…..step up your game and take a few lessons from Adam!! Sadly, I could see my husband standing there by me and saying “Stop fidgeting, would you…we’re on the red carpet for cryin’ out loud.” LOL :)

Okay Adam ROCKS at this.if he fails in the music industry(not going to happen) he has this to fall back on.he’s amazinggggggggggggggggg.o.m.a!!!!
Haha ke$ha and Adam are cute together.Lea Michele mut have been happy to meet Adam.

    Anywy he’s *amazing*

  • cwg509

Carrie’s southern accent is sounding suspiciously Canadian lately. i love her new haircut!

Adam was great, so natural and appreciative of the effort to look good!

  • tiger92

    Oookayyy …

LOL! When they have an idol perform at the Grammys who has just released their debut album, let me know! :) I don’t think that’s going to happen for anyone, and I don’t think anyone ever expected it to.

  • Lulu2

Thanks for this, MJ. You rock!

  • cakeygirl

i hope he got to talk to pink about WWFM!

  • hfa

Adam is so nice to all the people, I don’t think he can say anything negative. I can see him guest-host other shows, ie Reggis & Kelly, The View, etc.

  • sunny2

Um, Suzyljank are you @Glambert696969 in disguise?

Adam did a great job on the red carpet.

  • http://bridgetcarle.wordpress.com vorona

Adam is 6’2″, and his boots had heels. I’m surprised at how many people even approached his height, but I guess a lot of these girls wear those crazy-high heels that hurt just to look at.

Some very nice gowns last night, and I love that Adam knows enough about fashion to show off the backs — that’s where a lot of the detail goes, and such a nice line.

I was wondering if Lea Michelle was inwardly freaking. She did ooh when he touched her. And am I the only one who wanted to reach through the screen and move Ke$has hair out of her face?

  • lorismile

Love Adam – he’s so cute! Love how he always has his hand on the ladies backs. Such a gentlemen.

    Speaking of glambert696969, lol

glambert696969 WHY ISN’T ADAM PERFORMING ON THE #GRAMMYS TONIGHT? HE IS MORE TALENTED THAN ALL OF THESE IDIOTS PUT TOGETHER. WHAT HAS BON JOVI EVER DONE?

  • Caitlin03

suzyljank – How does being a fashion coorespondant for ET prove he should have won AI? I’m confused here. Meanwhile “Kris” is travelling to Asia to perform several concerts.

Adam did a good job. He is sweet and adorable and comfortable to watch converse with people. He didn’t seem star struck at all around anyone. A+ for him.

  • oceana

Just wanted to mention, for Adam fans who are also fans of Johnny Weir, he’s got a new reality show on Sundance, Monday nights (tonight) at 10:30. I watched the first 1.5 hour show last week and a .5 hour show, I think they’re all .5 hours now. Really excellent show.

  • CFIdolsfan

Thanks, oceana, for the heads-up on Johnny Weir. I have started to think of him as Adam on skates, lol. They are both talented. I will look out for the show. What is the name of it and what channel?

  • V8Adam

    “He’s into backs.”

My thoughts exactly..LOL. Adam is into backs….Very true though, the designs on the backs on those dresses are very intricate and beautiful…

Loves Carrie (in) articulation with the “Blah, Blah, Blah..”

Adam was very sweet, articulate and charming as always. Loves how he compliment other artists, and did not appear intimidated by any one at all. Guess he’s used to Hollywood Glamour. Looks like BB has a fallback career if singing doesn’t pan out….Like that will ever happen.

  • TwigLA

Adam did a good job. He needs to learn to put the mic in front of the person he’s interviewing when they answer. I’m sure he’ll get better at it for his next fashion gig.

Wait…I’m confused? Who’s dissapointed at all about Adam’s ticket sales? Jmho but I’m thrilled.Maybe I missed the post that said he was doing badly? The only thing I can see is my own post that the article wa misleading, but that because I mis-read it…

Not sure if this is the right thread or this, but yahoo! rated their best and worst dressed
(not that anyone does or should give a SHIT about what they think think-except for Lyndsey lol)

ok, they gave Carrie a B+ and said “the country cutie stepped out in an updated ‘do and a fashion-forward frock from one of her favorite designers,Georges Chakra”

    ughhhhh
these morons gave adam a D and said “the glam rocker delivered a bevy of fashion faux as including caked-on makeup, a bedazzle blazer, a tacky bolo, excessive accesories, and heeled boots”
the comments on the first page ranged from “dude we know your gay” to “the makeup is skeery” to “whaaaat”

they gave JHud an A(um,wut?) and said ” the multi-talented superstar also rocked a Victoria Beckham beauty but accesorized w/ drk nylons, futuristic Lucite bangles, and Yves St.Laurent “trib two” platform pumps.

Lea Michele -A+(I agree-because all of you are dying to know my opinion haha) “the glee cutie was quite possibly the best.dressed star t the soirée In a sexy, one-shoulder,Romona Keveza mini, hich feautured. Shredded skirt”

  • wjmtv

    TV Guide approved of Adam:

    Hit*
Easy on the smoky eyes there, Glambert. But still, Adam Lambert may be the only man who can pull off a black, shimmering suit and Western tie.

    (*as in Hit or Miss)

  • wand3rful

not a fan of adam’s cakey makeup and bad 80s sequined suit, but there were other celebrities that flunked the fashion test. at least he dressed up and didn’t arrive in jeans/t-shirt (like some of the uber too cool for school musicians)…granted he looked like a reno lounge singer, but at least he went for the glam.

  • tiger92

I’m sure he’ll get better at it for his next fashion gig.

    LOL!
It is wonderful that Adam can do so many things! He is so articulate and personable! I’m sure this will help open many doors for him in the future!

  • starstruck2000

Adam looked fantastic last night. People may criticize but IMHO Adam puts most of the males that attend these functions to shame. When I compare the guests , I find that Adam is the only male that puts as much thought into his outfits as the females do. He always outshines every other male there and a lot of the females. I find this refreshing different to the ones who obviously don’t care how they look, and the ones that go down to their local mens shops and just buy anything that fits in.

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

    About the radio interview…….
Adam seems SOOOOOO excited about his upcoming international promo tour, and I am thrilled for him. I can’t wait for this to happen for him, but he will be so far away (from me). :(
However, I do know that the rest of the world does need to experience and relish in this incredible and amazing talent! :)

    thanks girlygirl!!!

So much fun to see the stars reactions to Adam. :-)

  • TwigLA

    Thanks, girlygirl!

That was fun. I don’t agree with his best and worsts though. Taylor was a definite best. But Carrie as a worst? She looked fabulous and I loved her gown. I didn’t think Miranda’s was a worst either. I saw a lot of others for that distinction.

  • lorismile

I thought Carrie was a worst dressed – she should have stuck with the gold one. The white looked weired on her.

I have no idea who Miranda is but yuck for her dress. Just yuck. It did not fit her body well at all, and the color was not flattering.

I didn’t like Katy Perry’s dress so I’ll disagree with Adam on that one.

  • luval

Yes, Adam did sing on the grammys…when interviewing katy perry and he sang “uh oh uh uh oh)….Single Ladies song.lol

A shame that he’s not on We Are The World session. Adam’s fans would be out in droves to buy this….not that they wouldn’t anyway, but you know what I mean.

  • JKL

Yahoo have a personal Vendetta against Adam, or something.

They have yet to make one positive post about him, no joke. The way they word their captions make me cringe. So much.

And the comments under his posts are so homophobic I always feel really, really disgusted after reading them. And I’m not exactly the most emotional person.

It’s not even a taste thing, the posters don’t even bother hiding or lacing their homophobia, and the moderators don’t screen the comments.

  • gangreen29

Pink, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry on his best dressed list? Whatever. I think that lack of taste might explain the Colonel Sanders look last night lol. I thought he came across grating on ET, and the part where he bugged his eyes out while saying fergalicious was terrifying.

Please don’t tell me that Adam Lambert just dissed Carrie Underwood. How can this be a good career move for him? So he is obviously just going to throw everything and everyone related to American Idol under the bus.

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

Bwahahahaha!! Oh Adam. Now you’ve done it. Putting the Country Ice Princess on your worst-dressed list. As Simon told you, don’t plan any trips to Nashville.

Eh. I didn’t mind Carrie’s dress. I preferred the gold one she wore later. Miranda Lambert’s dress, on the other hand, was a disaster. I completely agree about Fergie. Very understated and classy.

  • dcglam

The unworn Ellen underwear and signed photo are being auctioned together.

And so far, they are receiving over $4,000 for the set.

  • TwigLA

Carrie’s gold qown was exquisite. Funny, it is all Adam’s friends that he calls ‘best’. A little too transparent there, Adam.

  • cwg509

eh, Carrie’s never pretended to be a fan of Adam’s either.

It did seem a little obvious who Adam’s friends were (I guess he had to leave Kesha off the worst list since she’s his “girl”). though I did like his picks (plus Lea)

I don’t think a comment re: a dress (good or bad) is a “career move”….and to equate one dress comment of a former AI contestant to throwing “everything and everyone” AI under some bus is, IMHO, an overstatement. It’s just a dress!!

  • gangreen29

eh, Carrie’s never pretended to be a fan of Adam’s either.

She has never said anything negative about Adam in public…… I don’t really think Carrie fans give a damn what Adam thinks about her though.

Yes, Carrie’s gold dress was exquisite. She should have worn that on the red carpet. The white one was not a good fit on her.

He said Carrie was a beautiful girl and that something about her dress wasn’t fitting right. Now, he is throwing everthing and everyone related to American Idol under the bus? Wouldn’t you say, that’s one huge stretch?

eh, Carrie’s never pretended to be a fan of Adam’s either.

IKR? Lol, it’s not that serious.

Pink, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry on his best dressed list? Whatever.

Well, I thought Pink’s dress was exquisite (srsly, I’d love to get a look at it in person), and Taylor’s gown was very beautiful and classic. I didn’t like Katy’s look at all, but that’s his girl…of course he’s going to give her kudos. :P I actually think he was right about Carrie’s dress too…the whole cut around the top was kind of unflattering and odd. But the gold dress she wore for the MJ tribute was gorgeous.

Nope, I only saw Katy and Taylor on worst dressed lists or not mentioned.

Why would anyone put Taylor on a worst-dressed list? I can’t find a thing wrong with her look last night…now, her singing on the other hand, lol.

  • Mainegal

BTW …no one forces any of the stars to stop by ET for the fashion portion of the red carpet. They are all big boys and girls and they know what the deal is…if Carrie (or her fans) is upset with anyone it should be the people close to her who said “Yeah, Carrie, wear that one, it’s looks fabulous!!”

  • LeHommeAdam

His appearance on ET was okay if he’s aspiring to be like Kellie Pickler but not see where it helps him in music.

It was good exposure and he looks like he had fun. Beyonce did that guest gig also.

  • gangreen29

IKR? Lol, it’s not that serious.

It isn’t that serious. Carrie has been on plenty of worst dressed lists before. It’s a part of the business. You have to admit though, if an Idol alum criticized what Adam wore the sparkle herd would be in full stampede mode.

  • bridget
  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

With Pink, it was the whole look. She was so put together. Katy was interesting. She’ll get on a lot of worst dress lists for that, but I think she’ll also get some kudos. Personally, I didn’t like it and thought the color was all wrong for her. But, she went with a theme. The elephant purse was cool. I’ll have to watch Joan Rivers tonight to see what that crew has to say. Taylor looked sensational. Sometimes, it’s hard to remember she’s only 19. As did Rhianna (whom I normally don’t care for in terms of fashion.)

  • luval

Adam was just voted the worst dressed male on the TV guide channel from two out of the four people. Said the tie was awful, too much makup…they are “over” his look. Haven’t they seen any of his fashion shots? Idiots.I think they were just mad they didn’t get ADam for their show! lol. What do they know? Funny, one of them voted Gaga as best dressed!

I agreed with Adam about Carrie’s white dress. The top was very ill fitting. It flattened her out. And yes. worse dressed female was Miranda Lambert. I’ve seen that dress in Walmart.

  • dcglam

She has never said anything negative about Adam in public

You are right — nothing negative about Adam. However, she did make a statement to the public at one point that she voted for both Kris and Danny while on the show.

  • gangreen29

How dare she!!! Come on, you have no idea how many celebrities and idol alums went on the record for Bo when she was in the finale. She moved on, he should too….

  • Izzie2

No…because he has made other negative comments about past Idol contestants. Not a stretch at all. I am not going to try to quote the granola comments as I am not good at instant recall. He is just adding to the pile. IMO..he is trying to distance himself from AI.

eta: And I may have missed some of the segment, but it seems that Adam only singled out a couple of people for the worst dressed list. I am pretty darn sure that there were many other women he could have commented about.

  • gangreen29

I didn’t say it was bothering him lol! Dcglam said that Carrie supported Kris and Danny, and so I was implying that lots of people supported Bo against her, and it didn’t bother her so it shouldn’t bother him.

This is the funniest Adam Lambert interview I’ve seen – and, its connection to thread is, it features a fabulous fashion fail and Adam’s reaction:

Oh, yeah, I remember how Carrie said she felt a little burned about Hollywood being Team Bo when asked who would win Season 4, so she’d made a point of not taking sides herself in the future. I noticed when that changed, I wonder if Adam’s perceived attitude about country music has anything to do with it. LOL, how many “feuds” does Adam have with other Idols now? If this Idol fashion diss becomes this big thing in the entertainment news cycle, Adam really only has himself to blame.

  • sealily1c

Of all the celebrities on the Red Carpet, Adam goes after Carrie Underwood?

Wow. Rather foolhardly for Lambert, but oh well.

I hardly think Carrie cares what Adam thinks about her – in general. Carrie is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year with 5 Grammys and how many platinum albums and hit singles? And, she won Idol. OTOH, Adam has a certified gold album.

  • windmills

    I noticed when that changed

It didn’t change. Carrie’s policy has always been that she won’t comment on her preferred Idol contestants during the season. After the season’s over she’s been known to be supportive of individual AIers, leaning to the ones who actually get in touch with her so they can bond over the experience and talk about making it in the industry. The people she’s talked about most glowingly are Kelly, Fantasia, Kellie, Jordin, and David Cook. Well after S8 ended she mentioned she liked Kris a lot because he was sort of a hometown boy for her and she could relate to him and Danny a lot because he’s really nice.

During the season she was complimentary of every AI contestant she was asked about including Adam.

  • dcglam

I was merely agreeing with and elaborating on a previous post that said “Carrie has never pretended to be a fan of Adam.”
That is all — no alterior motive here and truly not a big deal.

  • Izzie2

I hardly think Carrie cares what Adam thinks about her – in general. Carrie is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year with 5 Grammys and how many platinum albums and hit singles? And, she won Idol. OTOH, Adam has a certified gold album.

And not to mention the huge number of fans that she has. She isn’t just popular with country fans…but a huge cross over artist.

  • luval

    Thank you bridget! very funny.

Am always taken aback when Adam eludes to “someday” being with a woman. Don’t think it’s ever gonna happen.
btw I don’t give a hoot about Carrie and her dress. It’s not that deep

  • Mainegal

Carrie is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year with 5 Grammys and how many platinum albums and hit singles? And, she won Idol. OTOH, Adam has a certified gold album.

Correct….but what does this have to do with Carrie wearing an ill-fitting dress….presenting herself @ the ET fashion spot on the red carpet …and having said dress commented on??

  • windmills

    a huge cross over artist.

I honestly wouldn’t call Carrie a huge cross over artist anymore, at least not if you look at radio play. She cut Arista New York out of her record deal and she refuses to cater to pop radio by remixing her songs. Cowboy Casanova almost made the top 20 of Hot AC without any promotion but it’s done there now. But she probably does have some fans still from AI who still don’t listen to country radio so she’s a cross over artist in that sense.

I don’t think this is a big deal really. The only thing that’s a little weird is how Adam was complimentary of Carrie’s dress to her face and then decided later it wasn’t so great. But whatever. I don’t think this is some huge misstep or anything and I doubt many people will care.

However for those who don’t know her Miranda Lambert is not somebody to piss off ;) She’s an awesome country singer songwriter.

I think Jennifer Nettles was best dressed last night.

  • cwg509

the competitions are over, they each have their fans, and I was just suggesting that it is clear that they are very different types of artists with opposite tastes and styles, and Carrie did admit to supporting Kris and Danny.

This is really not a big deal, she is widely acknowledged to be a beautiful girl (Adam did complement her), the dress was not very flattering and kind of weird, and i’m sure she’s not wasting her time being worried about this (plus I bet that ET edited it to play this up and Adam as the self-proclaimed new kid on the block maybe was caught up a little). He could have been more diplomatic and not choose anyone (but i guess choosing country stars is pretty safe ground for him)

  • Destry

Oh my gosh, it’s just a dress! :)

It’s not a career move or a personal attack. Dude’s just saying she’s a gorgeous girl, which she is, and that the dress didn’t work this time, which it didn’t.

  • lorismile

    Thank you Destry!!!!

  • lorismile

I though her blah, blah interview was more boring than her dress.

  • Truthiness

how many “feuds” does Adam have with other Idols now? If this Idol fashion diss becomes this big thing in the entertainment news cycle, Adam really only has himself to blame.

Who says he has a feud with Carrie now? Only two people were shown that Adam didn’t like the dress of, and one of them was Carrie, but the other was not. So how is he ‘singling out,’ Carrie and dissing her and ‘feuding,’ with her? He didn’t like her dress, I wasn’t a fan either, and even Carrie herself said she doesn’t often wear white often. I said last night, before this all went down, that Carrie shouldn’t wear white, as it can wash her out. Again, Carrie herself said she doesn’t wear the colour much, I think that is a wise choice by her. So is Carrie feuding with herself when she wears a colour that might not be flattering on her? And so how is it wrong to agree with Carrie’s own general colour choices and just not be feeling that dress on her?

Someone can just not like a dress, due to personal taste and stye, and it isn’t hating, and it doesn’t have to be related to feuding. It can just be an honest opinion and taste. And I don’t see that Adam did anything else here and expressed it.

Just like I didn’t have a problem hating on what Adam wore last night due to MY personal taste, and some media places agreed with me that it was a fashion miss, some places liked it and it was a hit. Same with Carrie’s dress, some people liked it, some did not. And that wasn’t due to feuds or perceived vendettas, it was due to something even more subjective than that…personal taste.

So not seeing that Adam was engaging in anything other than his own personal taste, and that anyone else will see it as such either. So no, I don’t see that there is going to be some repurcussions where Adam dissed Carrie’s many crossover fans who are going to be out for his blood now, because he’s clearly involved in ‘feuding.’ I mean, maybe some crazy in the bubble types will do that, but the media and outside the bubble? yeah, not seeing it.

  • martha

get a grip. Adam was right, Carries dress looked all crooked and unfinished not stylish- the designer tried too hard and went too far. And that is not a negative comment about Carrie, it’s about the dress. Adam is my fav, he dressed great, but I hate how he looked with the eyeliner this particular night.I still like him -lots-. Saying the truth about something you dont like is not being negative, it’s being honest- remember the part where he said she is beautiful and not only the part about not liking the dress.= that balances it out, dosen’t it ?
As for Clay- he commented weekly that Adam’s singing made his ears bleed. Adam did not say anything about Clay’s singing- he simply said if you want to grab onto my coattails to get attention, ok.
I am frigin tired of Adam getting hits from all sides- he has been dealing with that all year – and a good measure of a person is how they are when under stress and in crises-well, Adam reacts with tremenous grace, great inner strength. People has a hard time and say they are moving forward. Adam grew up gay in usa-it ‘s a hard time daily, daily, -go ahead and pretend & let everyone think you are gay-do that for a week-see if you can handle it, see how it feels – and that is how and what gave Adam tremendous strength, intrepid honesty. I admire and respect him. And he is allowed to give his opinion without people putting their spins on it and pretending they can read his mind.

  • Truthiness

Most of his picks were probably on other best dressed lists.

Nope, I only saw Katy and Taylor on worst dressed lists or not mentioned.

I’ve seen Taylor on some best dressed lists, some for Katy. But mostly really positive about Taylor. And Pink and Rhianna as well. I normally hate what Rhianna wears, and what she was wearing at Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party was up there with Kelis for complete WTFery.

  • Kate8

I don’t see the big deal about his comment about Carrie’s dress. Just because he is not as successful yet as her doesn’t mean he isn’t entitled to have an opinion about her outfit.

  • Chicagolaw

Everything is always so dramatic in the Idol world. It’s a silly dress! And I agree, the top of her dress was weird and really didn’t fit well. Not a good choice. I can also say that I didn’t like Adam’s jacket two nights ago, and I thought his hair on Oprah was terrible. It is just opinions. I hardly think Carrie will care.

Have to say, I think this was a fun one time gig for Adam, REALLY hope he doesn’t do it again. Just my opinion.

  • Frozen

oh please it’s not even a big deal at all. CU wore a dress, AL thought it’s not good enough for her beauty and put it on the worst dress list, then it turns out that al doesn’t like cu and vice versa, blah blah blah, how come?
To each their own, you can’t force cu to pick al as her fav, nor can you force al to think cu’s dress is better than his friends’. It’s al’s right to give his own opinion, so just chill if he’s not thinking wat you’re thinking. It aint that deep.

OK…feel like I need to come back and comment. My tirade was because out of all of the hundreds of women there…he singles out two. One of which is also from American Idol. (With the same record label and managment. Hope they are happy with the outcome). The dress wasn’t perfect? Well, it was a hell of a lot better than most. My point is that he singled her out. Which I can’t fathom why except that perhaps he was only able to interview a handful of people. No way would he put anyone on that list that he thinks could be an ally. Maybe the gig was a mistake to begin with and put him in a bad spot. I really liked him during Idol, but he keeps putting his foot in his mouth.
Or some place. And yes…I do think he is trying to distance himself from Idol.

  • revcat

. LOL, how many “feuds” does Adam have with other Idols now? If this Idol fashion diss becomes this big thing in the entertainment news cycle, Adam really only has himself to blame.

    ^^^
Clay’s comments are ancient history and that’s the only feud that was made public. Whatever Adam thinks or doesn’t think about country music or Carrie is not important to anyone, especially Carrie, but I have heard him say for the record that Carrie is an awesome singer. End of story as far as I’m concerned. They don’t have to be “bestie” and probably never will be on the same page, but no biggie.

  • windmills

LOL. I didn’t think Adam had anything to worry about from Carrie’s end and I still don’t think that. But I did think him dissing Miranda Lambert might cause some trouble. Her long-time boyfriend is fellow country star Blake Shelton and sure enough he just tweeted this:

    http://twitter.com/blakeshelton/status/8527447036

Hey @askjimmycarter did Adam Lambert really say something about Mirandas dress?

Keep in mind Blake is a total hoot and jokester and will say absolutely anything, no matter how outrageous, on Twitter. This could be funny if there’s a follow up. Some of Blake and Ran’s fans are definitely egging him on.

  • Truthiness

The dress wasn’t perfect? Well, it was a hell of a lot better than most. My point is that he singled her out.

Or maybe he just didn’t like it, and he didn’t single her out, she was one of at least one other person whose dress he didn’t like. And it’s his taste. Maybe he just didn’t like her dress. Maybe especially because he thinks she’s hella pretty and could do better? Or heck, given how crappy his outfit was, that terrible jacket and tie, he just has questionable fashion taste and her inoffensive dress, was bad to his bad taste eye? Though again, way before any of this brouhaha, I also wasn’t fond of her white dress. Though unlike others here, I hated her gold dress more and preferred her white dress to it. Oh and I preferred her white, but not icky gold dress, to Adam’s outfit. I felt Carrie’s gold dress and Adam’s stupid jacket/tie could duke it out for tacky.

So what you might have thought her dress was better than most, he didn’t. Both are okay to think and are formed by personal tastes and are both subjective and both fine as such.

Just like saying that Adam’s tie sucked last night is fine, it’s okay to not like Carrrie’s dress, and it doesn’t have to be deeper than personal tastes.

  • Destry

out of all of the hundreds of women there…he singles out two.

We don’t know how many he singled out, we just know the ET edit showed those specific two.

  • Miss Chaos

I didnt like Carries dress either, not that any one cares, I said it way back when I saw it last nite some time ago. But I am not Adam, he was put on to say his likes and dislikes. He didnt like her dress. So What! Should he lie and say he liked it? Gheesh, maybe he can just stay home, and wait till he goes out to sing again.

I don’t see Adam trying to “distance himself” from Idol at all. He talks Idol all the time, glowingly, to anyone who asks (and he gets asked a lot).

And I would guess that his “worst list” probably included more than two people, and the show edited as they wanted.

  • adamlover

i cant go through all of these posts, but he was so cute about carrie..saying she is beautiful. i dont think he was mean at all, did you ever hear how the others dis ppl on the red carpet?

people on the boards and make comments about celebrities are far meaner.

  • windmills

I thought once was one time too many, but aside from some Idol bubble whatever, I don’t think it’s going to matter in the long run one way or another. I wasn’t a fan of the decision when it was made, less now, but eh.

  • Destry

I actually liked Katy’s dress (but I must have weird taste because a lot of people didn’t- maybe it was the glittery elephant that won me over)

But I did disagree with him on Fergie. Her dress was a pretty color and material but it just looked oddly unfinished. The gold snake seemed a little too random to me because there wasn’t enough accessories to compliment it.

And how did Gaga manage to sit down in her dress?

  • alaadam

I said I didn’t like Carrie’s dress last night before Adam said a word. It was not flattering to me. It looked like masking tape across the front. However, I was not paid big money for my opinion! Dang! I wish I was! I would probably get in tons of trouble especially with country stars. They usually look like hicks to me anyways.

  • evanjane

Yikes! Calling Taylor Swift a Glamazon and putting Carrie Underwood on the worst dress list … Carrie fans are not going to be happy.

  • progression

In my view the issue really isn’t whether Carrie’s dress was good or bad, or whether Adam did or didn’t like it. The fact remains that they are both artists signed to 19E, so they basically work for the same company. He could have easily singled out any one of the true horrors of the evening (Britany Spears springs to mind) before Carrie. So why criticise someone who is basically playing for the same team you are? And who frankly is a much more profitable and important member of the team? Not very loyal and not very smart.

  • OhMyRawrrr

I think he should have played it safe and placed Snookie on his worst dressed list :D

  • Mainegal

Oh Dear Lord!!!… is there somewhere we can bury the damn dress!!

  • Parabola

“Should he lie and say he liked it?”

Why say anything about it either way? Unless Carrie wore a plastic bag covered with Cheetos, why not look the other way about her supposed fashion faux pas? Media and fans love making a big deal out of one Idol criticizing another, far more than they would about two celebrities without that kind of mutual association. Who needs the drama? Adam managed to be diplomatic about “No Boundaries”, and Carrie’s Grammy dress was hardly the NoBo of the red carpet. But some people find Adam’s candor refreshing and enjoy him calling it like he sees it.

Well I was at my favourite fashion spot, Project Rungay, and I don’t always agree with TLo (they’re too avant and coutre for me) but they liked both Katy and Carrie’s dresses, and also didn’t like Fergie. What I love about that website, is that they also give the pictures of the dresses on the runway, or the offical photos of it (like in the case of Atelier Versace, who can do some really interesting work). Oh and I disagree with them about P!nk and agree with Adam, I loved that dress and loved her in that look and totally thought she carried it off. So pfft to them.

ITA! Adam is practically over complimentary to the American Idol machine. I’ve never heard anything from him but praise and gratitude for the show.
I didn’t like Carrie’s dress much either. It was not as BEAUTIFUL as she is. I thought the gold dress was absolutely stunning! I do applaud her for taking a fashion risk though. I like people who try and step out of the box a little. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m sure some people thought it worked! That’s fine too!
Actually, I think she would still look beautiful if she wore a box. :)

To be fair, a lot of avant and coutre work is very conceptual and not meant for real life, even as ‘real life,’ as the totally unreal bodies, make-up, hair and lives of hollywood and music stars. Which is shows, to me, how completely generally useless high fashion really is, except like paintings. Something to be admired…from afar.

So yeah, I get people trying, and possibly failing, to be coture But I also see how generallly useless coutre actually is. And that goes for Adam, Carrie and whomever.

  • cwm

I hope that we are moving beyond “dress-gate.” I think sometimes people take Adam way too seriously. He was clearly having fun with the whole thing and it was all tongue in cheek. Some people liked his outfit last night, some not so much. Some people liked Carrie’s dress, some not so much. Although he didn’t like what her dress did for her, he said it with kindness and caring. And the editing was very abrupt, so who knows what else he said or who else was on his list. It’s not a big deal.

So anyway, what I really want to say is that there hasn’t been nearly enough discussion here of this absolutely hilarious interview with Adam:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7aCfeqvhFk

Funniest Adam interview EVER– seriously. Priceless.

And to stay on topic, it even includes attention to fashion! LMAO

  • happycat14

And yes…I do think he is trying to distance himself from Idol.

Adam’s said how grateful he is to be on Idol. In a recent Canadian interview, they asked him if he was invited to perform, would he go on AI or X Factor? He said AI, that he owed everything to it.

Carrie does not seem like a very nice person. I thought the dress looked ok, but her hair was very suburban. Adam was careful to say that “the fit wasn’t right” which wasn’t a diss on her or the dress. It’s true, the straps didn’t like against her properly, and the dress itself made her seem shapeless.

Miranda Lambert’s tweet just showed how very cool she is. Her dress wasn’t as nice looking as she is.

Carrie does not seem like a very nice person.

Say what? Why doesn’t she seem like a nice person? She certainly seemed very sweet when talking to Adam, and all of the new Idols talk about how she reaches out to them, and how supportive she has been. I can see some people not liking her music, or her dress, or her style, or finding her a bit dull (I like her, but whatever), but I don’t get why she doesn’t seem like a nice person. Ah well…

  • lorismile

What’s the big deal seriously? Adam probably ended up on mote worst dressed. Peeps need to not take things so seriously!!!!

I agree with lorismile above, people need to chill and not take things so seriously and remember that it’s the networks that edit these episodes and control what they want us to hear and see. I love Adam not only for his talent but b/c he seems like a geniunely nice guy. Right now I believe his focus should be on his music and building his imagine outside the AI bubble. JMHO!

  • http://kristentheyellowlab.blogspot.com/ Zsus

I don’t see the big deal about his comment about Carrie’s dress. Just because he is not as successful yet as her doesn’t mean he isn’t entitled to have an opinion about her outfit.

Particularly since that WAS his job on the red carpet that night.
“Hey, Adam. We want you to critique the fashion. Oh, but don’t say anything bad about Carrie Underwood as she’s a fellow Idol, is on your parent label, and is more successful than you. Everyone else? Feel free to tear them to shreds.”

Truthiness, thanks for the link to the runway pics of the dresses. Katy’s gown is really very lovely, but I think her hairstyle ruined it. But, that’s kind of her signature, so what can you do? My fave was Rhianna’s, but only someone built like her could pull off the pouchy fabric at the side. On most women, they’d look like they had massive hips.

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

I thought Adam did a good job. It was a fun segment, and not to be taken seriously. Carrie is a beautiful woman, but the dress was meh on her. Adam was much harder on Miranda Lambert!

As far as Carrie being nice, who knows? I get the impression she is very conservative and may not be comfortabale around more edgey people. Having said that, I think she is a good singer, but I find her dull….except when it comes to fashion!! Although I didn’t like this particular dress, she always tries to take some risks and she never looks bad.

Exactly. That was part of his job. It’s ridiculous to label this a personal slam on CU. I completely agree with his assessment too. The dress did her no favors – made her look skinny, shapeless & round-shouldered. The gold one was much, much better.
I can’t recall one diss from Adam of Idol or any of the contestants (other than his well-deserved reply to Clay). He has been one of the show’s biggest supporters. In fact he hardly ever says a bad word about anyone. Too bad more people can’t be more like him.

Wow – that was interesting – thanks for sharing!
Katie’s dress was gorgeous on the runway – I didn’t like it on her. Carrie’s dress was really pretty on the runway too – but it was cut too long for her body. Fergie I did not like at all. Too short. Now a short dress I adored was Heidi. She looked absolutely amazing. Britney and her granny panties were a big fat fail. She should have done something like Ciara – and Ciara should have done what they suggested – go with a nude look underneath, but it was still cool. Miley’s dress was prettier on the runway – they made her’s too short. Rihanna looked like she was on the runway :) I think Taylor looked a little too old for her age.
And Adam: I’m hoping he evolves the way Christina Aguilera has :D

I don’t think this is a big deal really. The only thing that’s a little weird is how Adam was complimentary of Carrie’s dress to her face and then decided later it wasn’t so great. But whatever. I don’t think this is some huge misstep or anything and I doubt many people will care.

This. That’s just weird IMO. If he really thought it was horrible (and it seems he did because it was in his worst dressed list), he could just as easily have complimented her on her hair or makeup, or talked about her nominations, or the MJ tribute, or just not have mentioned the dress. For someone with a supposed rep for telling it like it is, that was just odd. But yeah, no big deal at the end of the day except in Idol-land.

Carrie does not seem like a very nice person.

And yeah, where did this come from? I’m not a country fan so I don’t follow Carrie at all but she’s always struck me as being a really nice person — being supportive of other Idols, etc. So this really came out of nowhere. Is this just a perception based on her interview or something more?

Wasn’t Carrie the one to say the other idol contestants needed to stick to what they did on AI to have success as a recording artist, that could be interpreted by some as not being supportive. Choosing favorites isn’t supportive either, but almost all idols do that so that is no big deal.

That was a response to a question about what advice she’d give people coming off AI and Carrie’s not the only one to say that. Adam said the same thing as far as his approach to his own album.

It’s kind of cool looking at the site Truthiness posted because you do get a different perspective on the dresses. Some dresses are really beautiful, but just not right for everyone. Fergie’s dress looked much prettier to me during her segment with Adam than it did on the runway. Seeing it on the runway made me go, “Hmmm. Not sure about this, anymore.” And Pink’s dress didn’t look as good on the runway as it did on her. It was really perfect for her – not too femi-femi.

Just wish there was more of the Red Carpet with Adam than the final little on ET, however, I think that Carrie is beautiful, but the dress was more like something virginal for the wedding night, or a “wedding dress run” not a look for the Grammys – I think I know what Adam meant about “something about it just didn’t work for me” – too polished, not edgy enough for the venue, something younger, less sophisticated and icy would seem more appropriate for a young, beautiful country singer – just too “fixed” looking – also, wish that Adam had gone OTT like Lady GaGa, his look was too intense black, anyone know where that “steel blue satin suit” was worn? loved the metal looking knot – but, I would imagine that Adam was tired after the Canada jaunt, BD party, pre Grammy parties, etc….and we know about a “tired” Adam ~

It’s good advice for somebody who wants to keep appealing to their Idol fans. But it’s not necessarily the best path for somebody who wants to expand to take in the much larger and more lucrative music-buying public beyond Idol.

Sure whether or not it’s good advice is up for debate. I was just responding to the person saying it could have been interpreted as not being supportive by saying it was the exact same thing that at least 1 S8 contestant (Adam) said was his approach to his debut album so anybody’s logic that the comment was unsupportive would be off.

Haha! That made me think of the awesome MSN commentary on Carrie’s dress. They had her among their best dressed and said:

Aisle Be Seeing You: Carrie Underwood attended the Grammy Awards with newly minted NHL fiancé Mike Fisher on her arm, and she helpfully gave him a glimpse of what their wedding day might look like if it were held a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The classy country chart-topper is fresh and futuristic in a white asymmetrical Georges Chakra gown topped with crisscrossing silver leather straps, which she sets off with a Swarovski clutch, chandelier earrings and, in a nicely contrasting nod to the distant past, Jennifer Aniston’s ubiquitous ’90s “Rachel” ‘do.

    I LOLd.

Adam interviewed in San Diego again? During this busy week?

    AJ, I am onto you.

You have interviewed Adam three time now. I have been listening to your show during my commute everyday, but I have never heard you play his music yet. So far I have been good, and never bothered DJ. But this is getting a bit too much for me to bear.

You sound genuinely excited and happy to talk to Adam every time he drops in. He is making an effort to get down here from LA. Why haven’t your station added any of his songs yet? Please explain.

    Signed with Tears.
