I love Adam not only for his talent but b/c he seems like a geniunely nice guy. Even if the red carpet for ET was supposed to be all in fun or tongue in cheek, it could be perceived as beneath him. Right now I believe his focus should be on his music and building his imagine outside the AI bubble. JMHO!

I don’t see the big deal about his comment about Carrie’s dress. Just because he is not as successful yet as her doesn’t mean he isn’t entitled to have an opinion about her outfit.

Particularly since that WAS his job on the red carpet that night.
“Hey, Adam. We want you to critique the fashion. Oh, but don’t say anything bad about Carrie Underwood as she’s a fellow Idol, is on your parent label, and is more successful than you. Everyone else? Feel free to tear them to shreds.”

Truthiness, thanks for the link to the runway pics of the dresses. Katy’s gown is really very lovely, but I think her hairstyle ruined it. But, that’s kind of her signature, so what can you do? My fave was Rhianna’s, but only someone built like her could pull off the pouchy fabric at the side. On most women, they’d look like they had massive hips.

I thought Adam did a good job. It was a fun segment, and not to be taken seriously. Carrie is a beautiful woman, but the dress was meh on her. Adam was much harder on Miranda Lambert!

As far as Carrie being nice, who knows? I get the impression she is very conservative and may not be comfortabale around more edgey people. Having said that, I think she is a good singer, but I find her dull….except when it comes to fashion!! Although I didn’t like this particular dress, she always tries to take some risks and she never looks bad.

    lol, Adam just twitted
craving for KFC – in response to his being compared to they KFC guy :)

Exactly. That was part of his job. It’s ridiculous to label this a personal slam on CU. I completely agree with his assessment too. The dress did her no favors – made her look skinny, shapeless & round-shouldered. The gold one was much, much better.
I can’t recall one diss from Adam of Idol or any of the contestants (other than his well-deserved reply to Clay). He has been one of the show’s biggest supporters. In fact he hardly ever says a bad word about anyone. Too bad more people can’t be more like him.

Yeah…..Adam’s only doing his part as the Fashion Correspondent for ET, it ain’t that deep folks lol! ;)

Btw, here’s some gorgeous pics of Adam at his Birthday party. Enjoy!!! :)

So if you want to check out Carrie’s, Katy’s Fergie’s, P!nk’s dresses on the runway, here is a link. http://projectrungay.blogspot.com/2010/02/2010-grammys-awards.html

Wow – that was interesting – thanks for sharing!
Katie’s dress was gorgeous on the runway – I didn’t like it on her. Carrie’s dress was really pretty on the runway too – but it was cut too long for her body. Fergie I did not like at all. Too short. Now a short dress I adored was Heidi. She looked absolutely amazing. Britney and her granny panties were a big fat fail. She should have done something like Ciara – and Ciara should have done what they suggested – go with a nude look underneath, but it was still cool. Miley’s dress was prettier on the runway – they made her’s too short. Rihanna looked like she was on the runway :) I think Taylor looked a little too old for her age.
And Adam: I’m hoping he evolves the way Christina Aguilera has :D

I don’t think this is a big deal really. The only thing that’s a little weird is how Adam was complimentary of Carrie’s dress to her face and then decided later it wasn’t so great. But whatever. I don’t think this is some huge misstep or anything and I doubt many people will care.

This. That’s just weird IMO. If he really thought it was horrible (and it seems he did because it was in his worst dressed list), he could just as easily have complimented her on her hair or makeup, or talked about her nominations, or the MJ tribute, or just not have mentioned the dress. For someone with a supposed rep for telling it like it is, that was just odd. But yeah, no big deal at the end of the day except in Idol-land.

Carrie does not seem like a very nice person.

And yeah, where did this come from? I’m not a country fan so I don’t follow Carrie at all but she’s always struck me as being a really nice person — being supportive of other Idols, etc. So this really came out of nowhere. Is this just a perception based on her interview or something more?

Wasn’t Carrie the one to say the other idol contestants needed to stick to what they did on AI to have success as a recording artist, that could be interpreted by some as not being supportive. Choosing favorites isn’t supportive either, but almost all idols do that so that is no big deal.

That was a response to a question about what advice she’d give people coming off AI and Carrie’s not the only one to say that. Adam said the same thing as far as his approach to his own album.

It’s kind of cool looking at the site Truthiness posted because you do get a different perspective on the dresses. Some dresses are really beautiful, but just not right for everyone. Fergie’s dress looked much prettier to me during her segment with Adam than it did on the runway. Seeing it on the runway made me go, “Hmmm. Not sure about this, anymore.” And Pink’s dress didn’t look as good on the runway as it did on her. It was really perfect for her – not too femi-femi.

Just wish there was more of the Red Carpet with Adam than the final little on ET, however, I think that Carrie is beautiful, but the dress was more like something virginal for the wedding night, or a “wedding dress run” not a look for the Grammys – I think I know what Adam meant about “something about it just didn’t work for me” – too polished, not edgy enough for the venue, something younger, less sophisticated and icy would seem more appropriate for a young, beautiful country singer – just too “fixed” looking – also, wish that Adam had gone OTT like Lady GaGa, his look was too intense black, anyone know where that “steel blue satin suit” was worn? loved the metal looking knot – but, I would imagine that Adam was tired after the Canada jaunt, BD party, pre Grammy parties, etc….and we know about a “tired” Adam ~

It’s good advice for somebody who wants to keep appealing to their Idol fans. But it’s not necessarily the best path for somebody who wants to expand to take in the much larger and more lucrative music-buying public beyond Idol.

Sure whether or not it’s good advice is up for debate. I was just responding to the person saying it could have been interpreted as not being supportive by saying it was the exact same thing that at least 1 S8 contestant (Adam) said was his approach to his debut album so anybody’s logic that the comment was unsupportive would be off.

Haha! That made me think of the awesome MSN commentary on Carrie’s dress. They had her among their best dressed and said:

Aisle Be Seeing You: Carrie Underwood attended the Grammy Awards with newly minted NHL fiancé Mike Fisher on her arm, and she helpfully gave him a glimpse of what their wedding day might look like if it were held a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The classy country chart-topper is fresh and futuristic in a white asymmetrical Georges Chakra gown topped with crisscrossing silver leather straps, which she sets off with a Swarovski clutch, chandelier earrings and, in a nicely contrasting nod to the distant past, Jennifer Aniston’s ubiquitous ’90s “Rachel” ‘do.

    I LOLd.

Adam interviewed in San Diego again? During this busy week?

    AJ, I am onto you.

You have interviewed Adam three time now. I have been listening to your show during my commute everyday, but I have never heard you play his music yet. So far I have been good, and never bothered DJ. But this is getting a bit too much for me to bear.

You sound genuinely excited and happy to talk to Adam every time he drops in. He is making an effort to get down here from LA. Why haven’t your station added any of his songs yet? Please explain.

    Signed with Tears.
