Is there a live stream of Oprah today? If so what time and can a link be posted? Thanks :D

  • Truthiness

That hair is so unfortunate. As was that performance of IIHY. Oy. I love ya Adam, but remember…the TVs are there, so no need for Kabuki, we can all see you up close.

And it bears repeating, TERRIBLE hair. His backstage hair was so cute, and then they put him out there is that plastic looking thing. I blame the Oprah stylists.

  • aa618892

Adam looked beautiful. I love his hair back off his face like this, his features are amazing. That performance of IIHY was awesome, so joyful. Can’t wait to hear the whole interview and WWFM.

  • saga

Heh, I actually really like when he does the exaggerated faces and wanted more. It fits this song. It’s a funny, funky dance song that’s a bit ridiculous.

  • http://www.photographybytracyt.com adam_lambert_rocks

I agree with aa618892 and saga. I couldn’t have said it better myself. :)

I do expect this appearance today to have a significant impact on sales, if history is any guide. I hope RCA was on the ball and stocked the shelves.

  • emmuzka

I love his dorky dancing and exaggerated gesturing. theatrical, remember? ;)

I think that Adam isn’t a naturally good dancer, but, (knowing that he has a choreographer to help him to practice for Idol tour) he is instead a good and fast learner. This and Gridlock moves were just pulled from his sleeve. Pretty great performance if he worked with his voice and charisma alone.

  • tls62

LOVE the hair and he looked totally awesome!! :)

IIHY was great too. It’s a funky song as saga pointed out and it needs interaction from him to make it fun. The audience was obviously enjoying it as well as they were all groovin’ too. :)

I dunno — i think he will get a little bump, but I suspect that SuBo will get a much bigger one. She just seems to fit better with the Oprah demographic…and I hate to say it, but I agree with Truthiness on the hair and makeup. I usually like his hair slicked back, but something about the way it was done here and the makeup (he looks a little orange and the eyebrows too dark) doesn’t work for me (and I generally love all of Adam’s looks). Anyway, looks like a fun interview and that a good time was had by all, and hopefully a sales bump will follow.

  • bridgette12

I like the way Adam looked on Oprah, especially the hair combed back so I see the face clearly, especially those gorgeous eyes. The only complaint I have with what I have seen so far, is the way the stage was set up. Adam couldn’t interact with the band because they were so far back. I like the chemistry between Adam, Monte and Tommy, because while performing they seem to be enjoying themselves and loving every minute of it.

  • sr4mjc

He looked so happy! It’s an animated dance song, I don’t expect him to stand there. He looked like he was having so much fun!

I wish the band were closer, he likes to feed off the interaction with them as well.

Good job Adam! At least the Bob arrow is back up on Amazon!

  • vmac

I think he sounded great and looked gorgeous! I love his Evis-style hair because it shows off his beautiful eyes/face, but I also love his emo hair. So I am glad that he alternates the style so that we can enjoy both!! He seemed so happy, and the audience was beaming!!

  • saga

Yeah I missed the band as well. He has to work much harder when it’s only him there and no one to feed off.

Hey guys, is Oprah on right now?

  • karenw

I loved this version of If I Had You and loved the way Oprah was bopping and singing along to it .. lol

I have no problem with is OTT faces etc as I think that’s just Adam when he’s singing fun songs .. I find it entertainig and quite endearing .. but have to admit I hate his hair like that .. it’s way to ridgid and moulded .. like a plastic elvis wig, Leggo man or a helmet .. really looking forward to seeing the interview and hearing WYWFM .. hope there’s some sort of streaming we can watch from the UK .. but if not I look forward to seeing it on youtube later :)

  • will

Hey guys, is Oprah on right now?

Check your local listings, stations air it at different times. We have to wait till 4 pm here in NYC.

    ETA: Or check here: http://www.oprah.com/tows_listings.html

  • PattyH

There is NO way to spin this appearance or performance into a negative. He was just perfect!

  • AlliB

Will, I’m with you. It’ll be a big bump! Maybe not long lasting, but surely significant.
Never thought of the ‘stocking the shelves’ part. I hope with you they did!

  • agathe.hb

well, Truthiness and mmb – I hate to agree with you – I usually looooove the way Adam looks, but this hair and makeup – PLASTIC, he looked like a Ken doll :( too much makeup and the hair looked like a helmet from Legoland, I wanted him to look gorgeous on Oprah – I loved his look on the morning show and other shows when his hair was up, but this it was not his best look, shit :(

  • HappyDaisy

Looks great, sounds great. The hair is way cool. MUCH better than at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

I was one who said early on that Adam should not ever be compared to Elvis (big Elvis fan). But I’ve been watching and have come to see why some people mention Elvis — Adam has alotta charisma, style, and of course talent. Note: No one should be or could be Elvis.

Love Adam’s various outfits; nice to see a rising star dress like one — sharp. He keeps things interesting and is a lot of fun to follow. And his album has songs for a diverse range of music lovers.

  • aa618892

LOL at the hair discussion! It’s always love it or hate it with Adam. Myself, I just like a man in makeup that always changes things up! It’s fun, and it sure looks like everyone was having a blast! Adam is such an anti-idol, LOL!

  • alxsavage

Check your local listings, stations air it at different times. We have to wait till 4 pm here in NYC.

Thanks for the info! I live outside the USA, and I’m gonna have to wait until tomorrow to see it, we get it one day later, but at least I’m gonna be able to see the full show.

  • HappyDaisy

    LOL at the hair discussion!

It’s a topic on most Idol performance threads. It’s not a genuine Idol thread if there’s no discussion of the hair. :)

  • aa618892

I believe AO has a live stream link. Someone posted it on one of the other threads but you can go to AdamOfficial.com.

  • RowZee824

I love the hair like this, too, but maybe a little less rigid. Love his sense of style and how he can change it up. I liked the performance very much but agree he feeds off the band really well, too, so would have liked them all a bit closer.

He sure looked super happy with lots of smiles! Good for him!

  • PattyH

    From his Fuse interview:
“Glam is supposed to be obvious! I am giving you jazz hands and glitter right now!” :)

  • Chicagolaw

It was a great show. Adam couldn’t have been more thoughtful and charming. Not my favorite look, but he still looked great.

He was clearly having a blast with IIHY, and he has been pretty vocal about how much he loves the song.

There was just such a positive vibe the whole show.

Honestly, I don’t get why Susan Boyle was even included. She got about 15 minutes and was clearly forgotten (no offense to any SuBo fans) by the end. It was Adam’s show all the way.

I would expect some kind of a sales boost, but the “Oprah effect” is generally biggest when she is introducing brand-new “products” or when the artist is “Oprah friendly” in the Gosh Groban/Charlotte Chuch vein. A lot of people have a lot of preconceived ideas and attidudes about Adam. But, we will see. :)

  • Mary102

Ohh, I loved IIHY! I thought he was great performing it – not exagerrated at all, because it completely fits the pop-dance feel of the song!

I’m also liking the look, though I was always a fan of Elvis hair, so it’s all good for me ;-)

Love Oprah bopping and singing along, lol.

The only downsides imo – vocals are AMAZING, but I feel Adam needs to work out how to work with the backup track and/or have backup singers in the future (say, for tours – think we mentioned that before after Gridlock too). His songs are so layered, so it’s impossible to sing it all – but his live vocals are so stellar that it’s hard to hear him singing along to the pre-recorded backup track. IDK. JMO.

And I also wish there was more band interaction – the set up looked cool, but it was too bad that it forced the band behind and away from him.

Ditto!! I love his Elvis hair…lets people see his gorgeous eyes and whole face. He so much FUN to watch!!! My coworkers and I were dancing watching IIHY on the screen in my office. Such a joyous, happy day!!!

Can’t wait to see the interview!

  • agathe.hb

Mary102, maybe the band was way back, because they did not want to risk Adam/Tommy action ;)

  • Kanadie Bonttell

I saw Truthiness comments, and I was like oh shit..so I had to go watch right away…and all I can say is…. thank goodness we all see things differently!!! I thought it was a fabulous performance..sounded great, loved the look, and facial expressions. Total WIN!!! :)

  • Mary102

That hair is so unfortunate. As was that performance of IIHY. Oy. I love ya Adam, but remember…the TVs are there, so no need for Kabuki, we can all see you up close.

I think this is one of the difficult things for Adam when performing on both tv and for a live audience – it’s technically two kinds of audiences, requiring two kinds of performance levels and interactions at the same time. What you need to do to get a live audience to feel your performance, you don’t need to do to quite that extent for the tv cameras.

Adam talked, iirc, about having to adjust to the cameras on idol for the first time, and in the early performances I think he was still working through those nuances.

I can imagine it’s tricky for someone like him who thinks about his audience so closely – as in, he’s on a stage performing, so wants to put out full-emoting force for that, but then you have a camera in your face too, so need to tone it down for that. How do you strike that balance? Not easy, I imagine.

  • aa618892

Can’t stop watching these clips! He is just so freaking adorable and thoughtful at the same time. Oprah looks like she has fallen under his spell too! Welcome to the club, Big O!

  • Mary102

Mary102, maybe the band was way back, because they did not want to risk Adam/Tommy action

Darn it – so our loss ;-)

ETA: whoa – fixed the typo – lol – brain must keep up with my fingers typing!

  • sr4mjc

If you don’t want to discuss Adam’s hair, we can always revisit one of the following:

    Baby or Woman? Backdoor man?
    Entitled and sweaty fans
Does Adam shave his armpits? Color his facial hair?
    What sex toys were thrown?
    Did he molest the microphone?
What is that ‘ring’ he’s wearing on his hand?
Did he just call the audience ‘bitches’ or drop the ‘f’ bomb?

This makes me so sad for Season 9. sigh…

(And I’m also bummed Tommy was far away..)

And where are the freakin’ Adds this week? Is it just WWFM or are Adds down this week in general?

  • Soberba

Did you guys notice that he messed up the words and sang “that would be the only thing I would ever need” when he was suppose to sing “life would be a party, it’d be ecstasy” (with the backtracking playing the right lyrics)? Heh, at least people can’t say he is lip-synching with that perfect live voice of his.

I thought the hair was ok, and he looked great, although I think he looks better with the more “clean” WWFM MV look.

I loved the IIHY performance. I thought it was a little subdued in the first half, wich didn’t match the song, and felt a little strange for me (maybe he was trying to “behave”, or felt a little lost without his band close to him). But he loosened up on the second half, wich was better, cause it’s a fun song, and he should dance when he performs it.

  • Mary102

Honestly, I don’t get why Susan Boyle was even included. She got about 15 minutes and was clearly forgotten (no offense to any SuBo fans) by the end. It was Adam’s show all the way.

Very interesting that SuBo had so little time compared to Adam. I really expected them to have time split 50/50 for the show. I mean, she IS the biggest selling worldwide phenomenon right now, and all. But it sounds like it may have had more to do with other factors related to SuBo’s health, psychological state, how fit she was to be on camera for extended periods of time, etc. – judging from what I’ve heard about the show.

Plus, when you have Adam on your show, how can you NOT have him on as much as possible!

  • BestAI

I love his dorky dancing and exaggerated gesturing. theatrical, remember?

I think that Adam isn’t a naturally good dancer, but, (knowing that he has a choreographer to help him to practice for Idol tour) he is instead a good and fast learner. This and Gridlock moves were just pulled from his sleeve. Pretty great performance if he worked with his voice and charisma alone.

Actually, Adam is a naturally good dancer. He loves clubbing and dancing, and is extremely flexible and graceful. He had a choreographer for the idol tour, but he started veering from it, and incorporated his own moves. In fact, his own dance moves were better than the choreographed ones. From watching all the idol song/dance numbers, everyone else looked awkward and amateurish, whereas Adam looked like a professional dancer.

  • agathe.hb

sr4mjc, right you are!!!! but let me ask you, since I am new to the AI (1/2 of AI 7 and the entire AI 8 just for Adam), do people always obsess about contestants like that (i.e. Adam) or is it something unsusual?

  • Mary102

I loved the mini-dancing during IIHY – the feet shuffles and “driving” motions – those were super fun!

  • ptslittlecomment

Not a fan of slicked back hair in general, but it looks better on Adam than most. Glad he danced to the music. He should its a fun song.

If Oprah liked the performance – and she seemed to – so will her fans.

    A good day for Adam.

  • lorismile

Well he’s getting a bounce on Amazon. He was at 37 or 38 earlier today with a red arrow and now he’s at 30 with a green arrow!!!

    YEAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Have I said how excited I am for Oprah day!!!

  • bridgette12

I think some of Adam’s fans will agree with me, today on Oprah, may be one of those “moments” in Adam’s career that people will remember. One of those “moments” like when he sung ROF, Tracks of my tears, Mad World, Whole lotta love and A change is gonna come. I think the fans of the other idols know have that feel, because several of the idols had a moment that said something about them and their talent. I am so looking forward this moment and and watching Adam enjoy it.

  • Mary102

Actually, Adam is a naturally good dancer. He loves clubbing and dancing, and is extremely flexible and graceful. He had a choreographer for the idol tour, but he started veering from it, and incorporated his own moves. In fact, his own dance moves were better than the choreographed ones. From watching all the idol song/dance numbers, everyone else looked awkward and amateurish, whereas Adam looked like a professional dancer.

I tend to agree with this – especially about his own moves on tour being better than the choreographed ones. Like his vocal improvs, Adam tends to move, to some extent, in the moment. Sometimes he has more time/practice to work out the nuances, but other times I feel he’s kinda winging it. As a result, you’ll get different performances each time, and sometimes it doesn’t 100% work – but it’s always interesting to see what’s gonna happen!

  • Mary102

    s

r4mjc, right you are!!!! but let me ask you, since I am new to the AI (1/2 of AI 7 and the entire AI 8 just for Adam), do people always obsess about contestants like that (i.e. Adam) or is it something unsusual?

LOL – usually every year has one or two contestants that get A LOT of obsessive attention – Adam is definitely this year’s biggest one. Years passed had different ones – like Clay, of course, Taylor, Daughtry, the Davids last year (psst – it tends to be the guys on the show – lol)

I would say, having watched the show for a number of years now, that the MEDIA attention on Adam is probably the biggest it’s ever been. Cook was on Oprah last year, but somehow Adam, with the RS story, AMAs, controversies, right PR, is, imo, more outside the AI bubble right now than a lot of previous contestants.

  • PattyH

He was clearly having a blast with IIHY, and he has been pretty vocal about how much he loves the song.

Such joy in this performance. Adam was having a good time, loves the song, and had me grinning from ear to ear!

“It’s a topic on most Idol performance threads. It’s not a genuine Idol thread if there’s no discussion of the hair.”

God forbid, if he ever goes bald. It would totally lead to the apocalypse, mankind would never be the same. LOL!

  • agathe.hb

bridgette12, judging from his father’s hair, he is fortunately not in danger of that :D
I just cannot imagine Adam being bald, ewww, sorry :( rocker stars don’t go bald :(

  • sr4mjc

29 on Amazon now. This is so much fun today!

Except for watching the Adds board, where are they today?

I haven’t followed post-Idol this closely before so I’m not sure if others are discussed in so much scrutiny, but I’m fairly sure rhinestone makeup, favorite condoms and bondage accessories have not been in the mix until Adam. :) Isn’t he fun?

We don’t know how the show will be edited. They could edit it to be 50/50, even with a risk of Susan’s portion being a lower quality because of less material to choose from.

I read a great report on the taping, (the most personal things weren’t even caught on camera) and I’m hoping that there will be more internet video clips afterward!

Edit: Thanks for the E! link! Adam squeaking “Oh my god!!” at Madonna is the most precious thing :D

Clearly Oprah loves Adam. It was so cute watching her singing the chorus. Can’t wait for 3 p.m. pst today.

  • LisaE

I hate “If I Had You” and hope it’s not Adam’s next single, but it was a cute performance, and I hope Oprah’s demographic appreciates his hair. lol.

  • tls62

emmuzka……..That squeak “Oh my God” was the most ADORABLE thing I’ve ever heard him say. Did you catch the look on Oprah’s face as well when he said it? He just looks so damn huggable. :)

  • sylverine

I think I’ve just figured out why Adam looks so different to me in the If I Had You video and the interview clip with Oprah talking about Simon etc -
he usually only wears this much make-up with his spiky emo hairstyle, not with his slicked back Elvis hair. Just compared pics of Tracks of my Tears on Idol, his outdoor GMA performance of Starlight, and the CBS Early Show in November, all with slicked Elvis hair, and his make-up style in all those is very light around his eyes and mouth.

So I must say I think his heavier make-up, which I love, works well with the wilder hairstyles but not really with the more conservative slick-back. I like both hairstyles on him, but need the make-up to match. It’s been bugging me, and I think it’s because of that mis-match – for me anyway!

  • JazzRocks

The only thing I’ve watched so far is the IIHY video. I was apprehensive after reading the (1 or 2) comments that he looked orange, hair wasn’t good, “Kabuki” performance, etc. LOL Guess I’ll just judge for myself in the future. I LOVED the performance & I love his expressions. His face is so darn beautiful.

I’m in the emo camp – hair-wise, but it’s all good. Because of his classic features he looks great in any hairstyle. And it’s fun to change it up.

  • Truthiness

Okay, so re-looking at those clips. It’s not just that the hair isn’t good, it’s the make-up that puts it firmly into the camp of DNW. I mean they showed him from his TOMT performance and his hair was similiar, but he had little make-up on then, so he looked much younger and better. The make-up might have been for his performing, and fine for that, but it really looks like old lady make-up. Maybe the make-up people got lazy and put the same look on Adam as they did SuBo. Or maybe, in an effort to help sell Adam to all of SuBo’s album selling fans, they wanted to make him look like her as much as possible.

Whatever it was, make-up fail. Though I guess it could have been worse, they could have made him as orange as the NBC morning show people did. That will always stand out as one of my least favourite make-up jobs.

  • jericho

    nvm

  • sr4mjc

I love Adam in makeup. Oprah’s team went a little haywire, but he looks so pretty. Closest to the album cover if you ask me. Which is, very pretty. YMMV. It’s not VEVO makeup, that’s for sure.

    He’s never boring!

  • Tess

All I know is Adam is getting 45 minutes of Oprah’s show (more than most people ever get), he is included in scads of material on her website, he gets to sing one song on air and another is on the website. Oprah, “acts” like she really likes the guy and is enamored with him like a good portion of those who he does interviews with. The show is being “marketed” to the SuBo fans so if they “stick around” after her few minutes they have an opportunity to meet a really fine young man (IMO) who is working really hard to make a success out of his talent.

I think this is a great opportunity for Adam…and the internet world and the blog world have picked up on this “visit” too (as well as the devilish twitter).

Adam is stunning on Oprah. Makes me love him even more. Love his mom in the audience. Millions of people will see and hear him now. I am just floored by him and this interview. Yes, nothing new really but boy what a nice afternoon!

I’m one of the one who loves his hair. The little films showed all the different sides of him…hair, etc.

that is terrific! bigger cd bump than i expected for last week. and he is bouncin his way up itunes too….wwfm is 27 or 28, fye is back in the 170s, fye deluxe was up to 76 and the regular around 117….cool

“bridgette12, judging from his father’s hair, he is fortunately not in danger of that”

I think you’re supposed to look at someone’s maternal grandfather’s hair, not the father’s, to see whether there is male pattern baldness in his gene pool. Not sure why that is, but that’s what I’ve heard.

What a wonderful Adamazing Day! Thirty minuted before Oprah, I watched the Fuse top ten video countdown, and FYE was #1!!!!!!!

    yay blog is back!!!

#adamlambert is trending number 5 on twitter and Oprah #9!!! never seems to amaze me!!

also, +18% in sales this week!! was the critics choice awards the only appearance?? bc i expect another increase next week bc of oprah!

Love love love this song. It’s fun, catchy tune, great vocals, great to sing to-hope it’s Adam’s next single. I love his CD, it’s fantastic- Soaked, Pick U Up, Fever, We Are The Winner, Broken Open,Strut, soooooo many great songs. But just for what I think will hit fast-this is the song !

  • mmb

whoa…both versions of cd keep rising…now deluxe popped to 65 and regular at 95…even fye seeing a bump up to 161 and wwfm now at 27…..subo, as expected also getting bump up to 21 (probably higher by now….)…both adam and subo getting 40-50 position bumps on their cds…cool

  • tls62

I agree with Tess. This is 40-45 minutes of priceless exposure for Adam that any artist would snap up if offered. If the worst thing that can be said is that the make-up and hair people didn’t please everyone, then I’d say it was a huge success.

I prefer to focus on what really matters. Adam showed millions of people this afternoon that he’s charming, intelligent, articulate, talented, and obviously has the stamped approval of OPRAH.

Personally I loved the hair, the eye makeup was great but honestly to focus on that so much is absurd IMO. The Susan Boyle crowd needed to see this hairstyle in order to sit and give Adam a listen. YMMV.

He was charming, witty, gracious and sang his face off on BOTH songs and I loved the little facial expressions on IIHY as it is a dance song despite the lyrics and Adam played up the fun of the music.

This appearance was a perfect showcase for Adam and I am happy that Oprah gave him this much time.

  • dhunken

Loved the interview, loved his performance of WWFM and IIHY. WWFM best one so far, and really I can’t believe that is even possible, but it he did it. Fantastic and I just say that over at HDD his is predicted to sell around 13K this week and 18% increase over last week. All good!!!!!. I feel confident now he will go gold with his album before the end of February and most likely much sooner.

  • mmb

whoa again…fye bounced up to 14 on amazon…it was in the low 30s yesterday..thank you oprah

  • unique28v

I loved the fact that Adam was pretty much the whole show. lol I liked the way he changed up WWFM. It was a great performance and interview!

  • dior

Adam is just jizztastic. I love him so much. He’s such a beautiful person inside and out and he inspires me to live in the moment.

  • dcglam

You know, Adam was incredibly amazing as always and as I knew he would be. However, my hat totally goes off to Oprah for what she did for our boy. First of all, she gave him so much air time — three quarters of the hour long show! She was extremely compassionate with her questions as well as with Adam’s responses. I especially love when she said he was as delightful as she knew he would be. I had a definite OMG moment right then! Also, she seemed to know the words to his songs!! Yes, I love the way she was singing and dancing right along with Mombert and the rest of the audience. This was definitely a TV appearance that both Adam and I will not soon forget. :)

  • conklas

OMG loved the whole thing and the Oprah effect is taking place…big jumps everywhere. Also, take a look at http://www.vh1.com/ to see the top videos and top downloads. Awesome!

On the final HDD chart, only 11 out of the top 50 showed any sort of increase this week. Minuses abound.
Adam had the week’s third largest increase with +18% !

I love the AI bump! The Oprah bump is looking promising also! It really is an amazing day to be an Adam fan!

  • alaadam

#10 on Amazon now. I know it is a small market but it also jumped on itunes. Hopefully, it jumps in the brick and mortar stores. From the looks of twitter, it is very possible he gained new fans that say they are going out to get his CD. Yay Oprah and Adam! What an opportunity!

  • dcglam

“I just cannot imagine Adam being bald, ewww, sorry rocker stars don’t go bald.”

    Ummmm — Daughtry!?!? ;)

  • mmb

The vh1.com sruff actually happened before oprah aired in most places. All of a sudden he had 3 videos listed in top 5 on the home page and was listed in top 10 most popular artists. Don’t know how or why but it was cool to see

  • luval

dhunken….agree with you. I always think the last WWFM was the best, but now this one on Oprah was sooooo great! What a fantastic day for him and all us fans!!…

Since most of the interviews now are pretty similar did you ever have questions you would want asked? I was thinking about this and I’ve always wondered when Adam first auditioned…way before the judges..was he in a long line of a thousand people…did any of the first set of producers or whoever he had to sing to ever almost decide not to send him through? Questions like this. I know they are not that important, but was always curious. We all hear it’s hard to get to the “real” judges.

  • martha

Oprah is a very enlightened lady who has multiple millions of viewers who are growth oriented and open-minded and interested in spiritually evolving. If Oprah likes someone, you know that person is a good-hearted individual cuz that’s important to her. She really likes Adam, and is a fan of his now-notice she sang along with both songs-knows the words. And Adam deserves support. He is an outstanding artist, he’s taken hits from every side- and never makes excuses, never blames, never critizes, never whines- Oprah knows who is woth supporting.

  • dcglam

“Actually, Adam is a naturally good dancer. He loves clubbing and dancing, and is extremely flexible and graceful. He had a choreographer for the idol tour, but he started veering from it, and incorporated his own moves. In fact, his own dance moves were better than the choreographed ones. From watching all the idol song/dance numbers, everyone else looked awkward and amateurish, whereas Adam looked like a professional dancer.”

I agree 100%, BestAI. I think Adam is a fabulous natural dancer!

  • lorismile

I’m traveling and am dying to see this. Can’t wait to see WWFM. Also, I can’t believe the bounce he is getting on Itunes and Amazon. Also loved the tweets from RCA and Sony, so gambit/fangirly.

FYI, the HDD predictions, Adam is the third highest gainer % wise as someone said, however, the top 2 are Michael Jackson CDs.

Yeah for team Adam!!!! God bless MJ for these threads!

It’s been such a nice day as an Adam fan …. I’m not watching AI and spoil my day.

Just the other day people were saying don’t expect an Oprah bump, WTF she’s the queen of television, actually queen of the world! If you don’t bump after Oprah you might as well hang it up! Thank you Oprah for having Adam on and good on you, Adam. You deserve it!

  • soverymel

Don’t get me wrong, I’m squeeing along with the rest of you watching the Oprah bump in action. But I do think it’s important to remember that while this obviously means more sales, Amazon and iTunes are really just a small piece of the sales pie. I mean HOPEFULLY the trend is also indicative of Oprah watchers who are less internet friendly picking it up at their local Walmart or Target. But I don’t think we can count on too crazy of a sales total for the week.

That said, I really love seeing him at #8 on Amazon’s best sellers, woo hoo! Altho of course SuBo is at #1, you go SuBo! She was lovely today, a bit fragile IMO, but lovely.

  • cakeygirl

adam is #8 on amazon too!!

  • cakeygirl

soverymel-i would think that oprah’s audience would be more “hard copy” buyers…..so no concern!

  • LaurelG

Oprah is a very enlightened lady who has multiple millions of viewers who are growth oriented and open-minded and interested in spiritually evolving.

This is so true! Oprah really honed in on Adam’s comments about living in the moment and visualizing his success. If Oprah gave a dinner party and Adam was invited, is there any doubt who she’d seat right next to her?

  • Miss Chaos

This is where Adam should have been when his Album came out but the stupid AMA’s performance screwed it up. I loved it by the way, if he hadnt messed up the vocals, running around the darn stage. I love the MV of FYI. Anyhow I am worried for Adam to be successful, he has to go more normal, not the Rockstar person he wanted to be. He keeps trying to find himself as he once said after AI tour was over. I am not sure which way I like him, but support whatever makes him happy and satisfied. Oprah===WONDERFUL==- so happy!!!!

Havent read any comments yet but just had to say:

I just viewed both song and OMG >> he was amazing !!11!!! He just took my breathe away with both those performances. He was sooo good.

And I love IIHY, and I wouldnt mind it being his next single.

And he looked drop dead gorgeous!!

I’ll watch the interview later, but I just had to say how much I enjoyed his singing (so what else is new, heh). And I loved all the little changes he put in both songs. This guy is just amazing.

  • JKL

His interview was brilliant. And that’s a pretty huge compliment coming from me.

I think everyone should watch it.

    Miss Chaos…

“Normal’s” not going to do it… his voice range is what people want.. when he sings “normal” it doesn’t sell… that’s why EVERYBODY went nuts on Idol… Judges, fans.. stars..etc.. nobody did that over ANY of his demos, but everytime he uses that range.. people go crazy.. theatre, Upright…. luv ya adam!

  • cwm

Group hug indeed! That was freakin’ fantastic. I can’t believe how well he performed WWFM — it was literally flawless. And I loved the campiness of IIHY — his cute little antics had me smiling throughout and just made me feel all happy inside. And of course he was his usual witty, charming, gorgeous, articulate, reflective, intelligent self. Oprah was wonderfully supportive and obviously thought very highly of him. Yippee for the Oprah bump!

martha– you said “And Adam deserves support. He is an outstanding artist, he’s taken hits from every side- and never makes excuses, never blames, never criticizes, never whines- Oprah knows who is worth supporting.” Very insightful post– I couldn’t agree more!

Another great day to be an Adam fan!

ok, he got me to actually like IIHY

that interview was so long! he was amazing and Oprah seems like a big fan.
WWFM is a great song, the video is getting good play on MTV

  • abbysee

Adam on Oprah was epic. He is a great interview subject. He’s bright, funny, charming, and gives a good sound bite. He looked great, and was received like a star. I loved IIHY, and of course he’s gotten WWFM down to a science. He looked so happy, and I was happy for him. The boost in sales is just gravy. Glad Oprah ‘got’ him.

  • JenOhio

    Absolutely gorgeous.

  • cwg509

oh, and i loved her take on this “kiss”. in one second, she made it seem like no big deal. I also liked how they got that whole AMA thing over at the beginning of the interview, so that everyone could move on.

  • jem88

When people were talking about the Oprah Effect, they weren’t kidding. It’s absolutely incredible just how much a jump he’s getting. I’m loving every little number update.

This interview was so lovely. Amazing and Oprah looked like she loved him. =)

  • Kate8

I am really happy that Adam got to be on Oprah. He did an awesome job with his interview and his singing. I enjoyed Susan Boyle too.

  • cwm

I agree, abbysee, Oprah did totally “get” him. And the fact that she so obviously did will help her millions of fans better “get” him too.

Loved it, loved it, loved it.

I just watched Adam on our big screen……it was terrific! The interview, I thought ,was so interesting. Maybe I am a little slow but I finally get how his theatrical background has influenced his singing with the interpretation of the lyrics! I loved his IIHY ….he made each word come alive with each gesture.
I also loved the segment with Susan B….my heart breaks a little for her because I do think this all is a bit much for her to handle. All the money and fame will not make her happy. I just hope she has people around to protect her…good, HONEST people because she is…will be…. a very wealthy lady!

  • mmb

Just watched oprah/adam (finally!). He really is right up her alley – spiritual, paving the way for others, a good talker (not to mention gorgeous and talented.). Was it just me or did she seem to be leaning into him a lot. That interview and performance was just terrific. Yay adam! Yay oprah!

  • Mainegal

Not to be a debbie downer, but what was up with Adds this week? Adam didn’t get many. Are they down across the board this week or just a bad week for Adam?

and now back to my regularly scheduled Oprah flailing!

  • Chicagolaw

The Oprah Show really could not have gone any better. There was just the most positve vibe throughout the whole thing, Adam and Oprah had such great rapport. And, what a great introduction to Adam Lambert for all those non-AI people.

  • JosieX

Adam did a great job and Oprah treated him extremely well – I’d say that was a home run.

I loved the bit where he surprised the mother and daughter fan duo, that was priceless. Also fun to see Leila in the audience dancing, she looks great.

  • zzatrms

  • bridgette12

I was feeling earlier today that this appearance on Oprah would be one of his most memorable “moments”, and it ended up being a great “moment”. He was so relaxed and comfortable with Oprah and that surprised me, because I thought he would be nervous. His two performances were spot on and both songs got the audience up and dancing. Today, he made all of his fans proud and gained several new fans.

  • lorismile

Just watched the interviw and lord, Jim C was right, Adam is a great interview. Even though we here have all heard this before, it was important for others who don’t follow his every move to hear. My parents were disgusted with the AMAs called me to tell me they get it now. They see why I am such a fan. You could have knocked me over with a feather.

It’ irrelevant that the bump may be temporary. The important thing is Oprah’s stamp of approval.

Just wish luv was here to squueee with us.

One of my favorite parts of the whole interview was at the very beginning when Adam looked directly into Oprah’s eyes and told her how glad he was to meet her. He shut out the room and just spoke directly to her. It was so sincere, and I think that she felt that. You don’t usually see her guests do that. I love that about him.

OMG!!! GAWD that man is gorgeous! But for me when he talks it is the icing on the cake. I just can not thank his parents enough for being so smart about the way they gave him room to just be himself, and because of them we get to experience this beautiful, talented, confident, amazing, sweet, tender, old soul on a regular basis. I love the fact that Leila is going on these trips with him. It’s such a special time for both of them really. She has just got to be thrilled that he is realizing his dream and at the same time she must be feeling such validation as a parent. He must feel such pride in his accomplishment and to be able to help her means a lot to him. As Paula would say, “it’s a beautiful thing”. My sons are his age and I can so relate……

  • sleepinggiant

I think no matter what Adam Lambert did people would complain. I don’t think his movements were exaggerated in the least I thought they were TOO restrained, albeit I know it’s because of being on Oprah. How much more STILL could he be, he barely moved off the mark and stood perfectly still for most of both songs. I’s also tedious with the makeup nit picking imo. His original make up artist on Idol said he has very difficult tone skin to work with color wise. I understand that because I have his coloring. And his black hair makes it so much more challenging. Maybe “fans” can send a list of the face color they vote on and he can carry it with him everywhere. Sort of like a “since everything you do is up for group consensus here’s the face color makeup you must use” vote. What’s wrong with the first pic arm and arm w oprah his color looks perfectly normal.

Maybe adjust your color on your tv or send adam a chart with how far he’s required to make the camera stay back in the close ups.

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

Wow, great show for Adam. I do think Oprah really likes him. I CAN NOT believe the sales bump he is getting. I was one of those people who didn’t think it would be a very big bump. I’m glad I was wrong.

What is the viewership of Oprah? 7 million. So if 1/2 percent of the viewing audience purchases his album, that’s 35,000 albums. He might just make gold by the end of this month.

  • iluvai

“Maybe “fans” can send a list of the face color they vote on and he can carry it with him everywhere. Sort of like a “since everything you do is up for group consensus here’s the face color makeup you must use” vote.”

That made me laugh. I thought he looked gorgeous!

  • pchboys

Wow, what an evening. Some great wine, Adam in his element, and Oprah diggin’ on Adam…

He was charming, sincere, gorgeous, eloquent, and completely in the moment. I couldn’t have hoped for more for him. I hope he understands the power of his own presence (forget Madonna’s) and continues to garner new fans not only with his vocals, but his personality. Too many times i have seen an artist I admire ruin it with a poor interview. I have zero patience for arrogant or rude people. I tip my hat to Leila – she raised that boy right!
I can’t wait to see what the future holds! By the way, Aerosmith is looking for a lead singer to get them through their tour while Steven Tyler finishes rehab. Adam’s vocals would soar and inspire – but probably not the right move for him now. Maybe a one night guest appearance on the Grammy’s.

  • karenw

Adam is awesome, I have my favorite looks for him, but he’s not a paint by number, assembly line kind of guy so when he sports a look he likes that maybe is not my favorite it’s all good because he likes it. Besides, that makes it a big treat when he changes his look back to my choice and he always does. Being the same all the time would be boring (like me) and Adam is definitely not boring! ;)

  • Mary102

So I suck as an Adam fan, and haven’t even gotten around to watching the Oprah segment yet! But it sounds like it was made of win (lol – not surprised there, Adam is amazing and so sincere in these interviews!)

And hooray for the bounces in sales! Oprah effect indeed! :-)

And re the adds – I wouldn’t worry too much about them. He has quite a few adds already in Top 40, and is gaining more in HAC now, which is where WWFM tends to be the even better fit. Bullet and spins are increasing, and he is doing a TON of radio promo now, which should definitely boost adds with those stations (like the LA one – yes, I was also listening, and LOVING Vogue – excellent choice, Adam ;-) ) And then there’s the music vid too to help with WWFM awareness. So it’s all good ;-)

  • Bowie1

This has been such a great day to be an Adam fan! I was so happy to see how much Oprah appreciated Adam as a person and as an amazing artist. It really seems like, from her comments, she believes Adam is making a difference in the changing of some things. I’m sure he feels the pressure of it all but handles himself with such poise and ‘postive’ energy.

  • JIMDOGSILKIES

When AI S8 ended, I, like so many others, went onto Oprah’s website and requested she have Adam on. I didn’t read anything about him coming on the months that followed and was a bit bummed. Then rumors began that he would come on “for their shared b’days”. Adam appeared via Skype, b/c he was voted by her audience in the reality star category, from what I remember. Oprah asked Adam words to the effect if he’d like to appear on her show in the future, and he said “I hope so!”. Randy Jackson, appeared on that same day, mouthed to Oprah as the camera panned out, “nice guy!”
I wanted Adam to appear on Oprah, b/c she’s not judgmental, she’s insightful, and she selflessly makes her guests look good. Her demographics I assume are who Adam draws in best. Oprah helped Adam cast himself in a positive light. He was charming, articulate, intelligent, polite, and very relateable. He made the audience happy. They were up and dancing, & singing along! Oprah was caught on camera mouthing the words to the chorus. He sounded great! Kudos to singers like Adam who sound as good, if not better live, as they do on their cd recordings. WHen Oprah recommends a book, it becomes a top seller. Hopefully, her nod to FYE will bump his sales.
FUnny thing is, the Oprah show is on ABC in my area which is the huge NYC tristate area. Interesting that Adam appeared on Oprah but I did wonder if he had to record his performance and not perform live due to what happened at the AMAs still.
I think the AMA performance hurt Adam more than he realized at first. But with this appearance being so positive, and people’s memories being short, FYE will continue to climb the charts!
Side note: I have thought that Oprah’s good friend, Nate Berkus, who I believe is gay and totally adorable would be such a cute choice for Adam…just sayin’!

  • alaadam

Adom looks so fake in all these videos, so rehearsed. Nothing genuine or real in him…

Apparently peeps are luving FAKE! He was awesome! What an awesome opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of many. Twitter reports many stories of a new open mindness to Adam! Now let’s rock and roll. Have fun and enjoy the ride – and music!

“Adom looks so fake in all these videos, so rehearsed. Nothing genuine or real in him…”

Gotta agree to disagree on that one. For me he’s always come across as very genuine and thoughtful. Out of any AI alumn or most celebrities even, I think he has fantastic interview skills. He is very warm and never condescending, he seems to have very thoughtful answers for just about everything. I mean Oprah seemed to adore him, I noticed she kept touching him, lol…but it does seem that everyone he gets close to wants to make physical contact, lol. Can’t blame them though, I know I’d want a hug if I ever had the opportunity, lol

Q3, if you’re lurking, do you know what happened to our WTVA-TV station today when they were supposed to be showing the Adam episode? I called them and told them I was a huge Adam Lambert fan and was about to have a frikkin heart attack cause they were showing a different Oprah show. She said they had many callers who were upset because of no Adam Lambert but that they were working on trying to get it thru. Hopefully, they will show it tomorrow–although she couldn’t guarantee–I want a lot of new fans to be able to see it. I knew it was on because a Meridian station was carrying it and one of my friends who was a new Adam fan kept calling and telling me about it. Just added to my frustration.

Then when I tried to come in here and see what was being said, the site was down. I felt like I had been personally attacked for some reason. LOL

Anyway, just getting here and have read thru the comments. I haven’t watched any of it yet–that’s my next move. I want to just say that it sounds like Adam has worked his magic again. I, like many others, have my favorite look for Adam, but IMO there are no bad looks. I just love him–all of him.

    He is magical!!!

Just in case anyone in here is from the Philadelphia area, or at least gets the Philadelphia ABC(WPVI 6ABC), the Adam Oprah will be on again in about an hour. It’s scheduled to be replayed at 1:06AM. Just a heads up in case there are any late nighters here who wanna catch it on their bid screen TV’s. :)

HDD sales looked good since he increased last week. Can;t wait to see next weeks numbers. I am not expecting outragious numbers but they will go up, i am sure.

    HDD Now in Final #34 12,923 +18%

where does that put his overall sales?

  • mr

Ok- haven’t read any comments yet- but:

    YABADABADOOO!!!

That was so awesome! He comes off so charming and intelligent- I really see know reason for the album&song not to get a very nice bump!!!!!

He really is so smart, isn’t he? How he dodged her subtle inquiery about his belief in God- “Who were you asking?” “The Universe”
“Were you praying?” “I was imagining, visualizing it- you know what- some people will call that praying”.
    Very smart man :-)

    And WWFM sounded GREAT!!!

    All is good.

I have no idea — all I know is that WTVA TV [Tupelo MS] broadcast an Oprah rerun instead of the scheduled Susan Boyle-Adam Lambert show. I also called and did not get any more explanation except they had gotten a lot of calls about not airing the show, and that they would try and broadcast it on a future date.

I am so sorry that you did not get to see it — I thankfully also get Oprah from Memphis so I could watch it. But I am quite upset that it was not broadcast in North Mississippi. Large portions of the show are on the Oprah.com site and on YouTube, not as good but better than nothing.

Hopefully WTVA will explain what happened and broadcast this show SOON!

FYE Album is #10 (deluxe) and #12 at iTunes in Pop. FYE Video is #27. Too bad the WWFm video isnt out yet. THe Oprah bump could really help that.

  • Esqt

total album units sold: 457,968. and yes, i have my glittery spreadsheet. lol

  • iluvai

I just don’t get it. I’ll listen to z100 in my car because I might hear
Adam. And the lyrics of many of the songs I do hear are just wow. I don’t care, but Adam seems harmless in comparison.

  • Mary102

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! That interview was SO FREAKING AMAZING!!! I LOVED IT!! :-)

I was clapping and laughing and smiling every moment of it – so priceless! He and Oprah have the most perfect energy! And he is so charming, sweet, sincere, real, ahhhh – how can anyone in the world not completely love this guy!!!

Surprising the mother and daughter was absolutely ADORABLE!! Loved the Madonna reaction moment – tee hee. Meeting people in Whole Foods (ahh, philosophizing amongst the grains – lol). Mom-bert and Oprah dancing along to WWFM!

I LOVED Adam’s look on the show too – the makeup was just fine for me – and I always love the Elvis look :-) WWFM was one of the best he’s ever done!!

In honor of luv, I’ll just say OMA!!!! That was incredible :-) This guy just exudes star quality during moments like this – it’s just there – that “it” factor – it’s like completely undeniable. Love it!

  • AlliB

Wow, great enthusiasm, Mary102, at this hour of the day. Can’t say I disagree thoughT

  • AlliB

    though!

  • Truthiness

Oh and know it won’t last, but just one last hit…where is WWFM on the itunes overall chart? I read it was 24, yes or no?

    Oprah –you still got it.

  • Mary102

LOL – sorry! I really really loved the interview! I always enjoy his interviews (he’s just so natural, and so charming and funny in them) – but this one was easily the best I’ve seen. He and Oprah just have such a perfect rapport together! I think I woke up my whole house a few times squeeing during the show :-)

  • Mary102

Ohh, and we got our “It’s me” falsetto!!! Me = melted

It was a great interview.Enthusiasm is well understood. :)

I see WWFM 24 in US and 15 in Canada. Not sure which chart it is though.

  • https://twitter.com/pmhowden undercooked

It looks like WWFM is still at 24 and FYE, the single is at 157.

Does Oprah usually have a guest on for 45 minutes? I don’t watch because I’m at work when she’s on, but I do like her.

By the way, here is EW’s write up on the Oprah show.

    http://popwatch.ew.com/2010/01/19/adam-lambert-on-oprah-he-shops-at-whole-foods-he-meets-madonna/

  • Mary102

    Oprah –you still got it.

I must say, I’ve never been one to really follow Oprah very closely (I’m never home to watch her show), but watching this interview, that woman has mad skills. She just exudes this magic energy – so personable, reaffirming, comforting, like your best friend who isn’t afraid to give you a little tough love when you need it.

I guess that’s why she rules the world :-) Must be something about us aquarians that makes us amazing (lol – or not, in my case ;-) )

  • iluvai

I thought Leila looked beautiful in the audience. She should write a book about raising an amazing (well two amazing) kids. :)

  • Dlynne

I loved the interview and the performance but the best part for me was seeing that Oprah is really a fan. During the performance she was singing right along and also with the song posted on her website, too.
I like his hair down more than the swoop but he’s so beautiful, it doesn’t really matter.

  • iluvai

I love Oprah… And every incarnation of her show!!!!

  • Ceddies

Thanks for your comments Q3. I did keep watching for about the first half of today’s Oprah broadcast and “fiannly” gave up. However, she/they did keep saying that Adam Lambert would be on tomorrow’s show. So, I still have hope that they may show it and won’t decide to just skip on over and do Wednesday’s show.

I’ve looked at all the videos posted here at MJs and am still sitting here with a cheshire cat grin on my face–but the tv screen would be a real treat. He is just so fine. Oprah and the entire audience seemed taken.

  • Mary102

Does Oprah usually have a guest on for 45 minutes? I don’t watch because I’m at work when she’s on, but I do like her.

IDK, but in this case it felt exactly right, the way they timed it. I originally expected Adam and SuBo to be split with a half hour each, but the SuBo segment worked best at the shorter length (dear god, that song, lovely as she sang it (and she does have an amazingly beautiful voice) seemed to go on for 8 minutes alone). Her accent, though, clearly made it hard for the audience to understand her, and Oprah constantly had to act as translator to make sure she was understood. Too much more of that would not have worked, though I did enjoy her segment.

However, I agree with an earlier poster here that by the end of the show, SuBo is practically completely forgotten because of the awesomeness that is the Adam segment.

  • Mary102

Oddly enough, apparently my local station also said today that the Adam interview would be on Oprah tomorrow, instead of today. But it wasn’t. So I’m not sure what that was about.

  • iluvai

I agree with you Mary102 that Subo’s accent was kind of difficult.
    She was lovely though.

  • cakeygirl

    FYE is #5 on amazon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.fatladysings.us TFLS

He truly is a delight. So effortlessly sexy! In very good voice too. I enjoyed the entire show today, actually. It’s just so nice to see good guys win. Far too often fame and fortune attach themselves to really horrid human beings. Both Adam and Susan Boyle are the opposite end of that spectrum: kind, warm – exuding a positive energy that communicates itself straight through to the audience. I wish them both the best of everything….but Adam….well; let’s just say he definitely is my special favorite. May his career be long, fruitful and filled with happiness. Why not? He certainly brings a smile to my face!

  • Mary102

TFLS – I completely agree. I wasn’t the biggest SuBo fan before, but even that segment was really nice to see – and to hear Adam mention her too was nice – like they’re comrades in this crazy, topsy turvy whirlwind trip.

Though Adam is clearly the more polished performer and showman (including the PR skills), both are examples of incredible talents who dreamed big and made it. :-)

    FYE Deluxe now at #37
    FYE Regular now at #48!!!

Well, I guess this answers the question of whether there would be a big bump from the Oprah show! I never doubted it.

  • revcat

I thought Susan was really sweet and I liked the song she sang very much. I might even buy it and I never thought I’d say that, but just the single. Of course I already have Adam’s CD, however I have the iTunes version and since I’m a big fan (and he inspired me today) I want to have a “real” CD as well so just ordered FYE from Amazon.com and also pre-ordered Michael Jackson’s This is It DVD – Woo Hoo, red letter day!

  • iluvai

Oprah’s on again! I wonder what which guy had the biggest debut???

    Anyone know??

  • iluvai

    no edit… grrrrr oh well

  • listen

Finally listened to the interview > and just a big fat “YES!” to every positive thing ya’ll’ve been saying these last 6 pages or so…

On another note, how ’bout the way Adam enhances the end of IIHY?
I have listened to that last part numerous times.
From about the 3:00 minute mark to the end, love the way he effortlessly changes-up the way he sings that last refrain…
    Mega-talented singer.

  • Mary102

Wow! Yeah – that is a great jump on itunes! I love Oprah – lol (almost as much as I love Adam :-) )

iluvai – did you mean, who had the biggest album first week sales? I think #1 is Snoop Dogg back in the 90′s – he debuted higher than SuBo.

And SuBo’s voice really is gorgeous. Hearing her talk about her mother was really touching, and I wish her the best (though hope she has the kinds of friends and support Adam talks about to keep her grounded).

I still wanted my Wild Horses duet, though ;-)

  • iluvai

“iluvai – did you mean, who had the biggest album first week sales? I think #1 is Snoop Dogg back in the 90’s – he debuted higher than SuBo.”

Hey guys… iv’e been MIA for a while, but have literally been dying to share this news with my glamberts. Ever since Adam came to host the Jingle Ball in Tampa, he is getting spins like crazy here! I dont even listen to the radio but it seems like the few minutes I am in my car everyday (going to the grocery store, ect.) I ALWAYS hear WWFM. Some day’s I hear him 3 times a day! I joke to my boyfriend that Adam pimping himself out at the jingle ball has paid off, and to be honest it really has! He’s a regular on the largest station in the market. I feel so bad for those of you that dont have the privelage of hearing him live on the radio. It really fills me full of joy and I want to should from the rooftops (of my hard-top converable lol) I LOVE YOU ADAM!!!!!!! Pure bliss. The world all seems perfect when WWFM starts playing. Hell I’d drive through LA during 2012 and not even care… I’ve got Adam playin on the radio! (and in the CD player for backup! XOXOXO Hope other’s can relate to this experience too! Please share…
Oh and Oprah….two words- complete success! The O factor is on team Adam! May the forces be wreckoned with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cwm

Wow, what a happy happy thread! Don’t you just love it? Adam fans all over the world are very happy tonight.

It’s a total win. Adam hit it out of the ballpark!

  • Justin8602

S-U-C-C-E-S-S That’s the way you spell success!! It was so great seeing Oprah really getting into the song. I mean she may get like that often when she has musical guests perform, I’m not sure, but she really seemed to be belting it out and feeling it. This Oprah gig was nothing less than spectacular, this is definitely going to help him gain back many many casual fans who were displeased with the AMA fiasco.

  • dhunken

BTW have to say Susan Boyle sounded great. She also looked really good. IMHO. I liked that Adam referenced Susan in his segment. Letting everyone know he was watching her segment. Showed respect of her and her as person. I was even more impressed with him. (Did not think it could possible) They both were great! (Adam for me was more enjoyable but I am a fan of his)

  • Justin8602

Just checked itunes on my iphone and I think Adam is definitely feeling the Oprah effect!

    Pop Album
    FYE Deluxe – 10
    FYE Regular – 11

    Pop Single
    WWFM – 16
    FYE – 57

    WWFM – 24

You gotta love Oprah! This is great, I hope it lasts for at least a couple of days, with people who DVR her and such. If it helps him climb more, or at least stays steady for a bit, it will make his gold album status come that much quicker, and increase some single sales!!

  • glamfan

i just love him! he really seems more grounded than i thought he might be. i loved the mother/daughter surprise and it was so touching to see HIM touched by their reactions to him. It just makes you think that if you or anyone on here got the same chance to meet him like that, he would be the same sweet guy and hug you. i love how much energy he has for WDYWFM, he sounds better every time he sings it.

  • crazedemcee

Holy cow!!! It’s been ages since i last saw Mr. Lambert and I must say, I’m drowning in a sea of Lamb-goodness! There’s so much i missed. Awesome, awesome interview! Congrats for the big bump in sales. Not feelin’ the hair that much but it’s mr. lambert the person and the singer I’m after so it’s all good. 12k for this week? Not bad for January.

  • martha

First, thanks for posting videos. My two favorite people, Adam and Oprah ! I’m gald they met.I wish Adam all the love and happiness and success in the world. I hope he will be able to tour; even though I don’t like driving, or finding parking spaces or large crowds- I did go see Adam on tour- (shocked everyone who knows me ) and I will go again if he tours again. I totally love the person he is, and the performer he is.

  • mr

    He is so amazing.

He came off like such a great person, both in the interview and then in the scenes they shot out of the studio- where he looked SO HOT- and the part where he surprises the mother and daughter is PRICELESS, both because of the emotional affect of it- how excited they were- and also because he was sooo adorable when he sneaked up on them! That mischevious smile he gave them when they suddenly noticed him… it was FAB.

I also agree that the foundation make-up was a little overdone, but you know what, once he opens his mouth (both to speak or to sing)- you just don’t notice those petty details anymore. It’s like the songs on his album- even my least favourite songs are good. So it’s the same with his looks- even when it’s my (personal) least favourite look- he still rocks it!

About Oprah’s singing along- lol, I don’t think she really knows all the lyrics- they only shot her singing along to the chorus lines (she mouthed “If I had you”, and then “What do you want from me”)- but it’s great that it looked as though she was familiar with them, so that probably will influence some of her die-hard fans to buy the album, since Oprah obviously knows all the lyrics ;-)

Oprah definitely gave Adam the best treatment possible and has done him a huge service. Thank you Oprah!

  • cher

Just an overall great Oprah show today!!!! Loved every minute of it. Happy for Susan. She looked good and sang very well. Adam impressed Oprah with major “charmicide.” Haha. Wish we could have heard “Fever” too. Fun, happy show. Kudos to Oprah for having them both on. That’s why she’s the Queen of TV!!! She knows “Star Power”!!!! Hope FYE reaches gold soon!!!

  • mr

    One more thing:

About the IIHY performance- I thought it started out a little weak, but then as it progressed, it jsu got better and better, and by the time the bridge came, and then the ending- it was fantastic! I Loooove the way he sings:

    “Never could compete WITH YOU”

    “Ecstasy WITH YOU”

In the recorded version I never noticed it as there are so many backing vocals- but I first heard him singing it like this at Gridlock, and now here…

It’s ecstasy with YOU, Adam! hee

  • weareallinnocent

Wow, that was FANTASTIC! Really beautiful.

    Thanks for posting, mj.

  • dreamz

LOVED IT ALL. clips, clothes, interview, singing.
THANKS ADAM…The perfect start of a NEW YEAR! You are sure to gain some new fans from this.

  • emmuzka

One little thing: When they show Adam’s name on the screen, the sub headline is “For your Entertaiment.” For me, that causes some hilarious and unfortunate connotations, like they would be announcing:

    Adam Lambert, an “entertainer”

Is that the way they always do it in Oprah? Why they didn’t put like Adam Lambert – Singer ?

  • mr

    emmuzka-

I think that’s just their way of plugging his album, which is named For Your Entertainment, so that everyone will run out and buy it! (Or stay home and download it!)

Don’t think it has anything at all to do with his proffession… :-)

  • justjude

Ok, This is the third time I’ve tried to post ,but my PC just knocks it out
and I cannot find them. Good Thing I have The Computer Geeks coming
    later today for a overhaul!!

As always, Adam is an excellent raconteur. There are no UMMS, ERs ,
UHS or AHS.He gives a great interview consistantly with a clearly and
    graciously.
I love that Adam paused for no more than a millisecond then answered “ThAT QUESTION”with “YES, I WOULD do that again“. Got to love a guy that owns all of his baggage and remains true to his truth`!!
I didn`t see his IIHY until I came on this site this am. ITA that he had a
hesitant start , but then he kicked it up to everything we have come
    to expect.
He made me proud that he acknowleged Susan Boyel. Classy guy! YES

  • justjude

Phew. I was relieved to see so many posts when I got up this morning. I couldn’t believe that there were only a little over 100 when I went to bed last night.

Adam is a wonderful communicator. He knows how to listen and he makes the most of how he answers. His drop dead beauty doesn’t hurt either.

AO will be posting short snippets of his “take” on each of his songs on his album. Only one posting so far starting with “Music Again”. Just great!

  • mr

Oh yeah baby!!! WWFM is up to #23 on itunes!!!!!! Wooohooo!

It’s probably temporary, but fantastic nevertheless!!!

It’s really interesting seeing that Taylor Swift and Justin Beiber have all of a sudden popped out of nowhere and dethroned Kei$ha’s Tik Tok from #1 to #3…

  • TwigLA

Adam is certainly articulate and certainly an entertainer. I like WWFM, but the other song, not so much.

    Nice job.

  • lorismile

He comes across so thoughtful. I liked how he talked about winners we don’t hear about anymore and who knows how long 15 minutes will last and needing to enjoy it. Shows he doesn’t take anything for granted and is very appreciative of all his opportunities. I also love how he brings his Mom with him to these shows. They seem to have a close bond and it’s lovely to see.

  • crazedemcee

    “Never could compete WITH YOU”

    “Ecstasy WITH YOU”

I don’t know about you guys but there is something in these lines that give me goosebumps

  • prospectfarm

I was looking forward to seeing/hearing Susan Boyle because I know so very little about her – I still don’t know anything about her. Maybe she’s shy but what a poor guest. Oprah is a great interviewer and she was dragging responses out of her. At least for me, this woman emotes no personality – I found her very uninteresting.

Of course the same is NOT true of Adam. As usual he was engaging, introspective, articulate etc. Oprah has a great way of asking questions that allows the guest to expand beyond the basis of the question. It was fairly telling that Susan Boyle had about 15 minutes of the show – including performing – and Adam had the remainder. It’s difficult to speculate but I would suspect that Oprah thoroughly enjoyed him as a guest. It was also very nice that Adam snuck in being stagestruck a second time in meeting Oprah (that was in the part about meeting Madonna).

Where was Lisa??? There was a different keyboardist on the set – a male I think. Anyone know?

  • sr4mjc

Lisa had a previous engagement to play keyboards for Ke$ha. She’ll be back!

What a great show. It makes me happy to see him happy and I hope the world gets to see what a kind soul Adam is.

I’ve been hearing on the radio about the concerts being organized for Haiti and I wish he could sing Time for Miracles for one of those. It woukld be such a fitting and beautiful song.

  • Jae

I bought that song SuBo sang. I liked it! It totally would make a great Idol winning song! :)

  • crazedemcee

“I’ve been hearing on the radio about the concerts being organized for Haiti and I wish he could sing Time for Miracles for one of those. It would be such a fitting and beautiful song.”

Indeed, such a fitting song. I’m looking forward to his live rendition of TFM. Just thinking about it gives me the chills.

  • lazyc0w

damnit.. i dunno what else to say. other than I LOVE ADAM LAMBERT!!

  • mr

Indeed, such a fitting song. I’m looking forward to his live rendition of TFM. Just thinking about it gives me the chills.

TFM, even though I think is not the greatest song, is exactly the kind of song Adam would KILL live, and I’d love to see it!
I know he loves his dance music, and I remember one poster here who thought he is a good pop singer but shouldn’t touch rock, but I completely disagree- I think there’s no touching Adam Lambert when he sings the big rock songs. He’s just better than everyone and anyone.

I hope he realizes this. I think he does in a way- hence the rocked out version of Sleepwalker at Gridlock.
And it’s not that I dislike his dancier poppier songs- I love them too- but as a live performer, I think his “rock” voice and his “soul” voice simply put him on a whole different level than most other singers, while the dance songs are fun- but they don’t showcase his crazy talent as much…

The footage they showed on Oprah, of Adam in a grey shirt and black tie singing, was that for the AOL Sessions? He looked hot!

  • agathe.hb

it was reaaally great – the rapport they had – it was obvious. Oprah was really nice to him, she showed different sides of him, so that people could learn more about him and look beyond AMA debacle :)
And you could really see that Adam was very impressed by her and very greatful for this opportunity

Sorry if this ends up being a double post, but the first one didn’t connect for some reason.

I’ve watched the show 6 times now and there really isn’t any additional words I can add. Adam is just an amazing talent.

This tweet yesterday from SonyMusic about says it all…

    SonyMusicGlobal
alright @adamlambert fans…his turn on @oprah (EST). he oozes stardom. how lucky are we that he’s on sony??

Yes, SonyMusic….you ARE lucky to have Adam.

Ok, just want to say it was a great interview, I loved Oprah for the kiss question, how she just made so much less “lewd” and a non-issue with her “did you just want to kiss someone at that moment?” and Adam just nodding like an adorable little kid who knows he misbehaved but trying to be cute about it, LOL. The whole interview was just great, and the clip of Adam singing those high, high notes during ROF, breathtaking. I mean, who else in the pop or rock music could hit those notes nowdays? Kudos to the person who put the clips together, nice job.
I read the comments and saw some ppl not liking the makeup/hair, I don’t see a big problem with either. I personally love his WWFM MV look (the last scene), but I think he looked very polished and professional, plus the pretaped, everyday Adam had the other look, so all bases were covered, imo.
One more thing, although I like IIHU a lot, I hope they go with Strut or Sleepwaker as a second single. The little stippets of Strut sounded amazing yst in the show, and Sleepwalker just has number one hit all over it in my opinion, plus, everyting from R.Tedder just turnes in to gold. He is a very talented songwriter, imo, his last single All the right moves is awesome and is rising up the charts nicely as well.

  • JazzRocks

Well Oprah picked up one more fan – me. She was wonderful to Adam and it was obvious how much she liked & respected him. He of course was his usual epic self. He handles himself beautifully in all (except perhaps one – LOL) situations. And Hooray for the boosts he’s getting in all areas. He’s finally starting to get his due. Major, major talent. Major great person.

Susan was lovely & I wish her well.

Having trouble posting. Sorry if duplicated.

I was just checking iTunes (Canada) and FYE mv is now on 5! Still moving up.
    The others:
#9/94 FYE album, one up from yesterday evening
    #13 WWFM, two up
    #17 FYE, same

    US
    #21 WWFM
    #35/42 FYE

By the looks of it he could’ve sold the WWFM video a couple of times as well had it been for sale.

Yeah that was totally laughable when people said Adam would be dropped after a month of his album debut. Sony is looking at the big picture, which includes the whole world and not just the United States. People are really interested in Adam overseas and he has a good chance to have some large album sells. Yeah I think RCA and Sony are very happy today. l

  • agathe.hb

I remember when Simon was talking about Adam’s potential – that he seemed to be the first true world star that would emerged from AI – I think that Sony sees that potential, too :)

  • mr

Yep- he hasn’t even officially launched yet in most parts of the world…

Am I crazy to think that WWFM actually has a shot at reaching top 5 on itunes eventually? Because I really think it can… it’s both catchy and better than most songs on there… Plus he is BEAUTIFUL in the video, and that also helps make an artist popular…

  • Mary102

I remember when Simon was talking about Adam’s potential – that he seemed to be the first true world star that would emerged from AI – I think that Sony sees that potential, too

Ok, total fangirl moment here (so forgive me a moment – lol), but, I trust Simon’s opinion a lot – he doesn’t just SAY these kinds of things. Adam really is the most complete “it” factor package to ever come out of idol, in fact, he easily outranks many current pop personalities out there now even if they happen to be more famous than him.

The Oprah interview just perfectly captures all of that – how charming, warm, sweet, funny, smart, down-to-earth, lovable he is in that interview – his effortless interaction and affection with fans, not to mention his charisma and voice as a performer. He is this amazing perfect package of looks, style, voice, charisma, everything! Sure, he’s not perfect (controversies and all, lol) – but that just adds another level of fascination and wonder – “what is he gonna do next? what hairstyle today?” lol :-)

I was just grinning and laughing so much during this interview – he just brings it out in me! He really deserves all the success he gets!

  • sr4mjc

Mary, are you in my head? lol..

  • agathe.hb

Mary102, on top of everything else, he is just such a loyal friend – right now, he is DJing on the radio and he has selected Kris’s song – :)

about the radio show choices, I just knew Adam would be into Duran Duran! I loved them. The makeup, the videos, right in his wheelhouse.

  • bridgette12

I think one of the most interesting things Adam said in his interview with Oprah, is how he felt when Simon said he had emerged as a star. Adam respects Simon not only for his success in the business, but also his honesty, even when his statements are not exactly flattering. When Simon leaves they need to replace him with someone who knows the music business and is not some type of Pollyanna who feels the need to be sweet and kind. I remember Adam saying back in Hollywood Week how Kara and Simon helped him realize that he had to relate to the camera and the audience watching in tv land. Adam said in one of the weekly confessionals after the country week, that he had to be careful about being self-indulgent and going to far. I think Adam listened to what the judges said, especially Simon and used the criticism and praise to become a better. I hope season 9 idols will have someone who’s willing to take chances, because if they don’t it’s going to be a boring like season 5 and 6.

  • Kanadie Bonttell

about the radio show choices, I just knew Adam would be into Duran Duran! I loved them. The makeup, the videos, right in his wheelhouse.

I totally agree with you on that!

I think that Adam and Duran Duran are somewhat kindred spirits when it comes to fashion, makeup, and to a lesser extent musical style.

Hello…Does anyone know how to get the almost last part of Oprah’s interview…the part where he surprises the mom and her kid? I checked everywhere on youtube and couldn’t find it.

    thanks

  • unique28v

I can’t get over how much of a bump Adam has received on Itunes and Amazon due to this appearance!

  • Rub

Poor Adam, can’t detach himself from the housewife demographic. Its good, but they need to do something about the 18-25 ‘cool’ crowd. Oprah is nice if you’re into that, they need to aim at the young kats who normally don’t tune-in to Idol or Oprah. These things defeat the intended young demographic by association. Maybe this audience will always be his niche market. I don’t know the answer.
Did Subo get any boost in sales?

  • Kate8

I imagine he should be able to maybe get the cool younger crowd if some of his dance pop songs are successful, but unfortunately radio doesn’t seem to embrace his FYE single much. I think the 18-25 year old age bracket overall is not that into American Idol contestants in general. I think overall the Oprah effect has been awesome.

  • sr4mjc

I think all Idols just coming off Idol have this issue, he’ll get there.

I went to Cook’s show in Nov, he’s still having the issue. Lots of middle age fans. (I’m 37 for perspective)

speaking of the AMA’s. I know its an old subject but it was part of the interview so Im assuming i can post this question. Did the FAA fine Adam or ABC yet?

  • luval

Thank you will! Love these type of surprises. I’m jealous of them!

And yes agathe.hb…I think she was saying LamPert most of the time although I did hear a couple of Lamberts. That weatherman on GMA did the same thing.

  • cher

“Did the FAA fine Adam or ABC yet?”
No, the FCC won’t be fining anyone over the AMAs. They released a statement long ago saying it was late night tv and they don’t monitor at those times.

Yes, Agathe.hb, Oprah did say Lampert a few times just like Regis did. Near the end, someone must have corrected her because at one point she definitely emphasized LamBert.

“Entertainment Tonight” will be featuring the PSA by Adam for Haiti with TFM in the background on this evening’s show.

  • agathe.hb

luval, as far as I remember, Regis also called Adam “Lampert” – maybe it’s just the manner of their speech? like, they want to sound more “British” or something?????

  • nina.t

Great performance, great interview. As always. The audience feedback fascinating me. He transmit positive energy. Constantly.

  • sdmama

I think Oprah was win-win. Can’t address everybody in one show. Widen younger fan base? I am not sure if FYE is the one to do it. Can they really relate to it? Both my daughter and I love Adam, but even I am not so sure about my 14 years old daughter singing FYE.

For fun, upbeat, dance tune, that is also sexy, I am waiting for Fever to come out as a single. “Mon is not home” line is just about perfect for young people, IMHO. I can imagine sexy Music video to go with it. I would throw in a girl in red dress in a bar, flirting shamelessly. Love that song…

  • dcglam

I posted a few times last night after viewing the fabulous Oprah Show on TV. After rewatching the vids today, Adam’s comment that he was experiencing a “down” time during early December struck a chord with me. That was not too long after the AMAs. I feel he was still going through a great deal of “trauma” associated with that performance. He mentioned something about questioning the way he looked. I took that to mean that he didn’t want to come across to his audience as “looking” negative in some way. In my opinion, he has nothing to worry about now!!!

  • Ceddies

dcglam, I also thought about that lonely/down time for Adam being a couple of weeks after the AMA’s. I, myself, am the type of person who gets thru the rough times, then falls apart/becomes weakened about a week or so later. So, I immediately thought that may have been what happened to him. If it was what we thought, it should be history now.

Also, if any of you remember last evening I was so upset that my local tv station here in North Central Miss. did not show the Adam/SuBo episode. I was hoping they would show it today. Well…….they showed something besides Adam again today. Thankfully, I have the computer and MJs. So, I am ok.

Yes, that’s right. A TV station in North MS. didn’t air The Oprah Show because Adam Lambert was on it. I’m assuming they know Oprah isn’t live. (that may be giving these idiots too much credit) So, I guess they refused to air Oprah because the “gay guy” was on.

That’s a big can of worms being opened, I hope it’s meant to be at least a little sarcastic. Me being a little left of center as is Adam, truly hopes that it is not the reasoning behind it not being aired. My mom worked for a couple of cable providers over the years and sometimes it truly is a network feed that is the reason something doesn’t get aired. Sometimes the local network affiliate truly is inept. In the Poconos of PA the local cable company lost it’s philly and NY fox networks due to the northeast PA fox wanting a monopoly on the area. And unfortunately FOX56 is crap…dead air and a lot of freezing. So I personally hope that Adam’s Oprah not airing is more of a my affiliate is incompetent rather than we are homophobic…but I’ve been wrong before, so who knows.

I do agree though, that was the first thought I had when I first read the post of it not being aired,,,

Adam did such a nice job with this PSA and I expect it will be shown tonight.

I did a search on American Idols Helps Haiti, and came up with something interesting on Wikipedia:

Joanne Borgella – Season 7 -The Haitian American Idol. Her father, Dr. Joel Borgella ran for president of Haiti in 2006.
She began singing at 3 and performing at 13 working in Bugga Basements with Wyclef Jean.

So, we might be seeing Joanna on Friday because of her connections to Wyclef Jean. Anyone know whether any other Idols will be on the show?

OMG, the show was fabulous. Oprah did an excellent job showcasing Adam and his music. I loved how FYE and Strut were played as well as the snippets from AI and Broadway. The interview went really well. You could see Oprah really liked and respected Adam. Of course, Adam was his charming self coming across as honest, sincere, respectful, fun and vulnerable at times. I loved when the camera panned to Oprah during both songs and she was singing along to WWFM and IIHY. One of my favorite moments was when the camera panned to Adam’s Mom dancing in the audience. She was beaming with pride for her son. Being a mother myself, I can totally relate to her feelings. They always say you can tell a man’s character by how he treats his Mother and Adam and his Mom appear to have a great relationship. He even said during Oprah that with his new found fame, he is now able to help his Mom. Adam clearly has an excellent character and you can see how he positively touches everyone he interacts with. I am so happy to see his album and songs moving up the charts and playing on the radio. He sounded fabulous singing WWFM and IIHY, his vocals were spot on and I liked how he changed it up for the endings. He really got into IIHY. I love IIHY and would not mind it being his next single, but I also love (allot) FYE and loved it even more when the video was released. I still think that song has life and will be around awhile. Adam is an extremely talented vocalist and an amazing performer. I never get tired of listening to his music. Adam’s talent is in a league of its own and he so deserves the success he is destined to have. Thanks MJ for keeping us up to date with Adam and other fans. Bring on the tour!!

  • adamized

I don’t know if anyone caught Adam saying to Oprah that it is hard to be openly gay as they closed for the commercials after Part 1 above. It is probably impossible for anyone to truely get how frustrating and even scary it can be to be part of a population of folks subject to prejudice and bigotry. Adam was lucky enough to come from a great family and spend a large portion of his adulthood in a culture that supported and even loved his creativity and personality. Throwing himself out there to a much broader and unfortunately mixed bag of populations that both love and hate what he stands for and who he is takes a lot of strength. I’m glad that he has the potential for a strong international presense. Though many of us love him and he has the backing of Sony and many other big hitters here in the US, I want him to also have places he can go and let it all hang out and just have fun.

  • mr

    adamized-

yeah, I could feel his frustration when he was saying he didn’t want to be labelled on AI (and Oprah said “that gay guy”) and he said that that’s what is happening now- many reporters saying “openly gay singer Adam Lambert” as if it’s relevant to anything!

I don’t think it’s wrong to talk about it, because it’s part of who he is- but come on, it doesn’t have to be mentioned every fu***ing time his name comes up.

It’s as if every time Jordin was mentioned, they would say “Black (or African-American) singer Jordin Sparks”. It’s just totally irrelevant! Who cares???

And I was also pretty sure he was feeling down after the AMA’s… I remember commenting on it a few times… he had so many appearances in those weeks and he just seemed a little sad in them… it was a bummer really, because he was interviewed by Cantiello, Slezak and Michelle Collins- and while I did enjoy those interviews, I kept sensing he wasn’t his usual cheery self. It was especially noticable with Michelle Collins, because she was so hyper and you know he would have gone crazy with her if he was feeling good, but he just seemed tired and a little blue…
I think that his performance on SYTYCD was when he finally recovered, and the sparkle came back into his eyes… and has stayed ever since!

I just wish him lots of happiness! And hope he’s strong enough to deal with everything and really really know how to enjoy the moment, as he stated was his resolution…

  • Laury

My mother were dancing when Adam was singing WWFM. She loved it!

Really everything on Adam´s segment was perfect!! Everything!!!

I loved SuBo dancing, I think SuBo is an adorable woman. She also was very pretty!

Oh!! Oprah thank you so much for that amazing show!

  • adamized

mr-thanks for your thoughts. I hope that Oprah was right when she said that Adam is changing things but it really is slow going. I just heard an interview with Adam on a Brazilian radio station and they suggested he come down there during their gay/lesbian mardi gras. He nicely said that he was hoping that in countries where they are more liberal there would be less attention paid to his sexual preferences and more to his singing. They didn’t get offended but went on with their questions focusing on his being “outed” by his Dad. It is really weird that there is such a huge fascination with this topic. Can you imagine any of the other idols being cross examined on when they knew they were straight, what version of oral sex they had….. and it goes on and on.

Thank goodness Adam has a great sense of humor. It will serve him well.

  • Mary102

Not sure if anyone is still on this thread – but just wanted to comment on this. I seem to get more and more frustrated as this topic comes up in his appearances and interviews. I was actually really annoyed by the Critics Choice Awards banter, because it’s very frustrating to see his sexuality brought up all the time as a joke.

He is so good about it all, and just goes along with it. But really, can’t we reach a point where NO ONE CARES if he’s gay, straight, bi, whatever.

Someone brought up race before, and I think that’s an interesting point – no one would dare go on about, say Jordin’s race, or Anoop’s, or what have you. But sexual preference still seems to be in that nebulous place of “ohh, are we, your typical American, really really 100% comfortable with people who aren’t straight? Sure we are, but to really really convince ourselves, lets make some uncomfortable, awkward jokes about it just to SHOW how ok with it we really are.” Ugh.

The change will come, and as Oprah said people like Adam today really are making important progress in making the world accept these things.

  • Ceddies

Zsus, Ijust read your comment from about 24 hours ago concerning our North Miss. TV station not airing the Adam episode of Oprah. I had originally commented to Q3 about this back upthread on page 7. She responded on Page 8 if you care to go back. Anyway, we live 60 or so miles from each other and share that same tv station. I live about 60 miles south of Q3 (in Jasmine Murray’s hometown) and about 60 miles east of Oprah’s hometown of Kosciusko, Miss.

I don’t know the reason it was not broadcast. Since I don’t watch much television, I don’t know if this kind of thing happens occasionally. As I said, the person I spoke with when I called just said they were “working on trying to get it thru”. Q3 said she also called and I believe she was told pretty much the same thing. I was not actually given a “specific” reason and don’t think she was either.

I truly hope it was not homophobia. Miss. has made lots of strides in areas of prejudices; but, like most other places, still has a way to go. Probably we will never know the reason for this episode not airing.

  • Ceddies

OT, but don’t know if anyone is still here anyway, I was trying to listen to Adam on the radio dj show tonight. At 9:02 pm, a transformer blew in my neighborhood. Power was out til 10:03. I heard Adam sign on and introduce one song. He was gone when the power came back on. Thankfully, there is tomorrow night I think.

I believe the “universe” is against me sometimes. (lol)

  • cher

Hey Ceddies, we may be the only ones left here. haha. I finally listened to Adam djing tonight. He just spoke a few times. It was prerecorded, so he’s not on live. He played songs by Beyonce, Owl City and Ryan Tedder, etc. He’s on again tomorrow night. Bummer for you. Tomorrow night, we’re supposed to be watching Haiti relief telethon, but unfortunately Adam’s not performing. Double bummer for you. However, he’ll be on Ellen next Tuesday the 26th singing for her birthday episode, not necessarily being interviewed. I can’t believe they didn’t show the Oprah episode by you. That’s crazy. Didn’t think these things still happened in America, but oh well.

  • Ceddies

Yeah, I’m going to be watching the special Haiti programming also. However, since I’ve been so deprived of Adam over the last couple of days, I may have to take a break from the tv and sneak back to my laptop to listen to Adam. His voice just makes me happy. I try to not miss anything that he is a part of. I’ve never been like this before about any other artist(s). He is just a one-of-a-kind. I honestly can’t imagine life without him now. I know that sounds silly/crazy/whatever, but it’s the truth.

When I originally posted about the tv station not showing the Oprah episode with Adam, I mentioned that my friend watched that episode on her local cable on a station out of Meridian, about 90 miles from me. She told me today that her cable was on but that particular Meridian station was out all day today (or yesterday). Strange things are happening…..ooooooooh!

Not really ready to let this thread go but am going to bed in a little while. I’ll check back in tomorrow to see if anything else develops.

  • adamized

Ceddies, I think that Adam has this effect on many of us here at MJs. I have stopped talking about Adam to my friends and family since my “feelings” became a source of many little teases and jokes.

Prejudice is really born of ignorance and fear. Having Adam be openly gay will make a positive difference. It doesn’t define him as a person but it gives the world an opportunity to love and admire someone who happens to be gay. I think Ellen and her wife Portia have helped in that arena as well.

  • Mary102

I’m still here too – lol. I swear that Oprah interview was like the highlight of my life! (ok, maybe not QUITE that amazing, but still pretty freaking great!)

Yeah, unfortunately, you only hear a little Adam during the DJing bits. He’s always very fun and funny during it though. It was very cute when he played LLWD the other day and gushed about Kris :-)

Well said. I know he has no obligation to serve as any kind of poster boy, but he really has made some tremendous steps toward making people in general more accepting. People like NPH and Ellen come to mind as ones who, it seems, AREN’T identitified by their sexuality very explicity (at least not anymore). Adam is way more intense about sexuality just in general (as part of his personality) which I think makes people bring it up more. But that’s all a part of who he is, and hopefully people can just get used to it and stop thinking it needs to be the SOLE thing that defines him. It’ll get there, I know it :-)

  • JazzRocks

Adam has had a tough road to hoe getting radio to play his music. This is a much bigger barrier than “Kris not getting the hype that Adam gets & therefore his sales/spins have suffered”. Radio is notoriously conservative and many dj’s have either made fun of him on the air or stated outright that they will never play him – or both. It’s really been an uphill battle to get acceptance from radio and will probably continue to be for some time. At least in the good ole USA. Makes me really sad. And also angry at times.

I’m tying this back to Oprah (thread subject) because of what he said about his feelings during the first week in December. Must have been tough for him but he never showed it in public. Courage and positivity – that’s Adam.

  • Mary102

JazzRocks, I posted a little about my thoughts on Adam’s acceptance on radio in the Randy thread, but wanted to address your post here. I try not to label it too much as “because he’s gay” some of his music may have a harder time on radio (though, I think it’s naive to admit that that doesn’t play at least SOME part in it).

WWFM being embraced by radio, though, and continuing to do well has me hopeful that radio CAN and WILL embrace him. The bigger question becomes, what sides of him will they embrace? I believe the bigger uphill battle for him is being a male pop-dance performer, especially with songs like FYE – have a girl sing it and it could be a big hit. With Adam, oh no – that’s too new, too different. A guy doing it! Wha!? Radio freaks out.

WWFM, otoh, becomes something that the radio is used to, that more ballady, light pop sound that men are more readily accepted doing on radio now.

JMO, of course. But I do agree with you that there are those hurdles for him on radio that don’t exist for others recording today.

  • Ceddies

Adam’s twitter followers have quickly picked up since the Oprah show. He had 305,000+ at that time. He now has 312,000+. I just went to his twitter twice to see how fast they are signing on. Within 6 minutes, he had picked up 9 followers. That’s great.

Hey Ceddies and Adamized, I get teased too, but since I’ve never gushed about anyone like this before, they don’t really trouble me too much, if at all anymore. I never used to be glued to the computer at home and now at work also. I am so obsessed with MJs blog here. Whenever it’s down or not working properly, I get a bit wonky. haha. A few of my close friends and my son, two nephews and my son’s best friend (all in their twenties) are also big Adam fans, so I have backup. My oldest sister in Canada, my 17 year old niece and my 7 year old nephew are huge Adam fans too.
I looovved the Oprah interview!! They both enjoyed each other very much.

Mary – I have no doubt at all that he will overcome the prejudice that exists in radio, whether for being gay or for being a male pop-dance performer. But it will take longer than it may have taken for another artist with such a great first album.

Not many people on this thread now but does anyone know what kind of a “numbers” bump Oprah got with Adam as guest? Not that she needs any more!

  • cher

Hi luval, think this thread is all over. I have no clue about ratings. Can’t remember who usually gives us those numbers. We have to find one of those guys in the current Adam thread about the Ellen show and the Grammys red carpet thing.

  • Ceddies

Cher, I’m still hanging around here–alas, I don’t know about numbers either–except Adam’s twitter numbers which I follow closely.

My immediate family is my 82 y/o Mom and me. Mom LOVES and enjoys Adam a whole, whole lot. Fortunately, Mom and I live together, so I don’t have any arguments when I sit for hours in front of the screen here at MJ’s, Oprah’s, or wherever Adam is. She wants to be kept abreast of everything Adam, so I’m good.

Anyway, I think you’re right that this thread is pretty much over. It’s definitely the longest number of hours that I have followed a story on here. Thank you Oprah and Adam!!!!

I’m movin’ on over to newer territory now. I may just lurk for awhile. G’nite.

Adam is at the SAG awards! Giuliana just interviewed him going into it. He was looking fierce as ever, slicked back elvis style hair light on the make up, very nice! He said he was just getting done with a photo shoot, he’s modeling sunglasses…I for the life of me can’t remember what magazine he said though
