I don’t think it had anything to do with his performance he’s going to do, but just being overwhelmed with all the people, the screaming, etc. What a year he has had. I’m so friggin’ happy for him.

Sirius was interviewing Kesha today and they asked who she was looking forward to on the MMVA’s tonight. She said Adam and went on and on about what a real person,and how unaffected he was. She was so sweet and full of praise. I think she is a true friend to him.

Boring? Never. Thoughtful, classic, straight up…changing it up, yet again. Clearly, he set up his voice as the star of that performance and given angsty nature of the song, it was a great decision.

I don’t know. The tornado on AI this year seemed to work pretty well I thought. Maybe because the video is very stripped down if you will, that he decided to match the song. His vocal was impeccable I thought.

Adam always said his performance lends itself to the interpretation of the lyrics. Not much else he could have done. That’s why he had pyro and lasers. At least WWFM shows off his impeccable vocals. He will get respect and credibility for that, even if he does’t win any awards tonight.

IMO this is Adam still doing damage control from the AMAs. This is his first live performance at an award show since then. He wanted to make a statement that he will and can play by the rules.

Ummm use the stage some more. He seemed glued to one spot through the first part of the song. It just didn’t seem like him actually. I did say his vocals were impeccible. Jees….sorry if I hurt people’s feelings. It was just my opinion based on his stage use tonight.

I think Adam did a great job presenting his song on stage, so classy, and he actually can really sing (duh). Fair or not (NOT fair) Adam is looked upon through a different lens than other performers, he has to be a little more careful. Things are going so well for him right now I would rather he err on the side of caution. He’s a smart man he knows what he’s doing.

I thnk they are all singing the songs for the videos they are nominated.

Not every Adam performance can be my favorite. Some will rise to the top and some will sink to the bottom. This was somewhere between the middle and top for me.

Not the best or most exciting I have ever seen him do but good, classy. He sounded great as always. The performance was in line with what others are doing tonite. It’s an outdoor show, he was on the smaller stage with no backdrop so he couldn’t have done the laser tornado. Other than wear a wild costume I’m not sure there was really anything else he could have done with that song in that setting

Oh, Lori, so true. There is just something so bizarre, IMHO, about fandom that doesn’t allow any form of negativity directed at their favs. And this is across the board for most fandoms.

Because I love the “dress up prom pretty” part of life I really enjoyed seeing Adam and his band (Cam looked great in her dress) tonight…and I really liked the understated theme of the performance. But I also know how much I love the gyrating, hip swiveling, mic stand antics of one Mr. Lambert. And I can fully understand how someone else can really miss that….especially when this is an important TV event.

I am inclined to agree to with Cindy, and others in that this wasn’t damage control because I am not sure who he would be trying to convince. This show doesn’t rate really high in the US pop culture or other media, so it wouldn’t be for them. He doesn’t have to do damage control here in Canada at all. The AMA thing didn’t raise much of an eyebrow here. We are clearly nuts for him (Double Platinum and counting) so I really think it was simply an artistic decision given the song, the timing and the size of the stage.

I think his atonement performance for his “sins” was the epic performance on Idol, the critics choice, or SYTYCD or the taped shows on Oprah, Ellen etc…. take your pick!

The AMA performance is brought up all the time in the media in the US and internationally. This is the first award show that has invited him to perform since the AMAs. When I watched him, I saw a glimpse of the superstar that Adam is and I was so happy for him that I squeeeeeeeeeed the whole time he was singing. I don’t care if he had a one foot square to do his act on, he was doing it and in front of thousands of people. Adam, you were magnificent and I applaud you. Love you to pieces.

I thought it was great. The suit reminded me of the video. Loved Monte’s do….Cam’s dress, and Tommy looks great in a vest. Not used to LP in a shirt! Lol. Very classy performance.

Just caught the performance on Youtube. This was a great performance and perfect for the venue. He looked so classy and the band looked fabulous. Loved the pyro. Most of all his vocals were beautiful and I loved seeing the audience singing along. Did I say he looked gorgeous?

Shoot, I’ll join lorismile in a critique. I didn’t like his hair or his makeup at least for how it looked on the red carpet but then I’m not that much of a fan of many of his red carpet looks. And lol, Monte’s hair was crack. For the performance ehh well I have a jaundiced eye anymore after all the amazing intimate performances. I think it did match the video for the “suited” side of him. (I always see the video as a contest of wills between the hard Adam and the soft Adam) I think the tour has been so much soft Adam that not having to change much from carpet to performance was probably restful. I think also on performances where he’s one of many it’s much more difficult to read the crowd and go in prepared for what the reaction will be. It didn’t look like they had any jumbo trons on him either.

Nobody is criticizing. Just some opinions. Like Smeggs said, we’re so used to Adam doing something different. No one is saying it wasn’t a good performance.

Isn’t he up for another award though? Or can I now go to bed? lol

Well, not attempting to compare at this stage in his career, but you know for a series of 20 odd concerts, Elvis peformed with 8 police officers directly in front of him. If he moved at all, he was going to be arrested for public lewdness. He went on to become the King. John Lennon made his Jesus comment in the 60s and people mourned his death sincerely in the 80′s. The Stones peed in public at a gas station, were charged with indecency, and they are still touring….and the list could go on to include similar “controversies” including Madonna, Michael Jackson and many other icons. They weathered the storm and I think Adam can too.

With the passage of time, I realy do believe the dumb AMA thing may be looked at with a different lense.

BTW, I loved Adam tonight, but I don’t begrudge anyone their opinion at all.

The surprise is…..he didn’t really change it up. Nothing new or shocking so ironically we are surprised anyway. I thought for sure he would do a costume change and play around again with the tempo or something. But then again he’s done all that and maybe he just wanted to rock it out subtly like in the video.

I’m sure for all the peeps who haven’t slavishly watched everything he’s done for the last year or more? they most likely enjoyed his great live vocals. Wow — What a stellar performance! Both Adam and his band together are such a class act. They are all so good looking as well.
I truly got chills watching him perform at this venue in front of all those people, including stars in the music industry. All of this has to seem so surreal to Adam.

Ok one last comment then I have to run back to RL. It was a very solid performance and I’m sure he’s continuing to get noticed by new people in the audience. IMO almost no one sings live like Adam.

I thought he and his band looked very classy tonight and I like that Adam makes that effort. The limo was awesome except for the sticking door. I couldn’t tell did Lane get out of the car on the other side or was she already there?

I do notice that Adam seems to wear his suit coats a little small or something. He always seems to only button one button and they always seem to be pulling across the middle which makes him look heavy even though he’s really very skinny. Maybe its just a new style or way of wearing suit coats for the younger guys or something. But for some reason I do tend to notice that and I was told/taught that suit coats weren’t supposed to pull at the buttons. But hey BB can wear his coat anyway he wants. I’ll just keep noticing. I do like that he left off the gloves. It’s nice to see his hands and I think the suit looks better with out them. Kinda crazy that I can spend so much time on what he’s wearing when I got RL stuff waiting.

LOL the things we discuss. I was just thinking to myself well why have a second button on a suit coat if you aren’t supposed to button it? It’s just me but it’s distracting to my eye when the coat opens up below the button (that is buttoned) and you can see the bottom of his tie or shirt or whatever. Heh maybe the problem is the GB.

Haven’t posted here in forever, but jammasta made me laugh with this because I’m just the opposite on the hair. I don’t like the unshaven half (photos from that side look weird), but I do like the shaved side…although it needed a few sparklies tonight to jazz it up. I think it’s a bit dull without them (same at last night’s show)…needs more rhinestones!

Young guys wear their clothes much tighter these days. Skinny clothes are in. That is, if the guys are young and trendy. Adam has a personal stylist, and Adam said he usually takes his advice. I thought Adam looked long and lean. I’m sure he looks even leaner in person. I think the black suit and white shirt would have been boring with black tie and shoes. Adam is edgy enough to pull off leopard tie and boots.

Well I will say that Adam really keeps up with the latest styles so I’m sure he’s on the cutting edge (and that his suits are not off the rack anymore) it just catches my eye and looks funny to me but that doesn’t make it wrong. Maybe it’s supposed to catch my eye.

Yeah, I happen to know that actually. I wouldn’t if I didn’t visit Project Rungay because me and fashion normally ,eh but I do. Which is why I commented on it’s fit, not the style. There is a way to wear that style and have it fit the way it should. Personally I wasn’t seeing that in the red carpet pictures I saw of Adam. Which is a shame. I happen to be a fan of the suit style, very early 60s in my mind (I was just posting the other day of reruns and who my mom and I could agree that Ilya Kurakin is/was a hottie). Again, not the end of the world, just an OUT to me in terms of fashion. Though I’ve seen him make bigger fashion mistakes (harem pants for me? something designers should stop trying make happen) so bright side? It could be worse.

Thanks for the details. The “Cha-Ching” video was a lot of fun and the “Perfect” video has an interesting look (and is the better song of the two, IMO. I hope it helps them break into the US). Nice that their awards were spread over two videos.

Just had to pop in to share in the joy with you all, YEAH Adam, YEAH Canada!! Huge win, and YES there is more to the world than the USA, Canada Rocks, love you. Granddaughter is in Brazil (Brasil) currently sharing the videos with her friends who love Adam. Hope he takes off there too. Monte’s hair tonight looked way more out there than Adam’s, artists must get bored with same looks day in and day out. Anyway, just wanted to party with you all. Congrats Adam, I know you will have many more. Did you see his brother’s hair? Actually, his hair isn’t as curly as Neil’s. From their childhood pics, Neil did have curly hair, and Adam had just the right amount of bend. He did say he uses a flat iron. When he doesn’t, he said he just fluffs it with his hands.

I know they had limited space to move. Could be him, but I’m not sure. Did we see Monte somewhere else besides this video?

Not to beat a dead horse but if the hair is not ironed and just blowed out it would have volume giving him flexibility to lift his hair above his ear and swept towards the back using his products to keep it in place. Not a difficult thing to do. Those pictures still tells me nothing.

well, maybe he took the hair they shaved off and made a weave out of it and added it for oomph tonight.

It was a great nite. First, Adam looked stunning on the red carpet. Long, lean, and very elegant. He really did look like a star. Then a flawless performance with impeccable vocals. Pyro to boot. Adam got his dream pyro. Icing on the cake? Winning. I never expected it, and I’m betting neither did Adam. He looked so happy.

Congrats Adam. I don’t really like this hair on him and think Tommy pulls it off better but whatever. I agree that he has extensions, no way can ironing it add a good 3+ inches in length.

I think Monte came in from playing golf to go on stage. He has on plaid pants. lol. His hair looks like it was pulled into a pony tail but there looked like there was a big piece sticking out one side in the front. That part doesn’t show in this pic either but this is an awesome band shot that adamland posted earlier. I cut it down a smidge because it is huge. We finally get to see Cam but Longineu is hidden. sniff.

Major congrats to Adam. Well deserved. I really don’t pay a lot of attention to MV’s but I really like the ones he done and I’m just happy for him. He’s been working so hard. Knowing Adam if they hadn’t cut his speech short he would have thanked a whole lotta people. I’m guessing that his award is based on just fan votes?

I totally agree with this–although I would prefer he not shave his head. LOL I would still love him and his music if he did though. I am so proud of him and don’t have any regrets over the amount of time I spent voting for this for him and his band. They all won.

Okay, now gotta get after that VH-1 #1 spot for him for next weekend. It’s next on the list. Too much is not too much for Adam’s benefit.

limi, I didn’t think about the two days short last week. I know I voted like crazy and thought it would be great if it landed at #1 the first week out. Would have possibly been some kind of record. I like to see Adam setting records. But, I think it was you who said earlier, just as long as he hit the countdown, that was a good start.

Everyone I know who would possibly buy Adam’s music has already bought it. But I still talk it up wherever I go.

Congratulations Adam!! I was out all evening and came home to the great news. WOOT to winning the award! I’m so happy for him. I really didn’t expect that, although I dutifully voted for him repeatedly. Yay for us!

I thought his performance was great, and I was so relieved that it went so well. I don’t know why, but I still get nervous when he has these high-stakes live performances. Perfect vocals and he even got his pyro! I thought the pyro and white tubey things gave it a really cool look in combination with their sophisticated suited-up clothes.

Adam looked great. I love that tie with that suit. Not a huge fan of his hair long that way (I love his Glam Nation hair), but it’s interesting and it’s all good with me however he wants to wear his hair. And I vote for it being extensions, not that it really matters one way or the other. And Tommy looked great too.

the performance was tight IMO. nothing crazy or OTT, but it’s not a crazy fun party song.
btw. Miley did great IMO, lot better than Katy Perry (yep, i said it), she was on fire last night, totally schooled Katy (and so did Kesha btw.) which is 8 years older than her. Not Katy’s best day IMO. didn’t see any other performances.

I think after Adam the Hedley performance was the best and Marianas trench was ok the rest for me (for you hehe) I just didn’t like. I might look into Hedleys music tomoroow

Just like his AI performance, Adam is getting positive feedback in articles written about the MMVA. I knew Adam would get recognition for his vocals, so I wasn’t concerned about him winning (since I didn’t think he would). I guess those really popular ladies aren’t as popular in Canada as they are in the US (not as popular as Adam, anyway).

I think Kris even said something like this in a joint interview. I remember him saying something about the hair. I loved Adam in the dreads and tophat during the IIHY video! Very hot!!

so after Adam’s performance i turned off the tvand went to sleep, assuming there was no way he was goin to win an award….what a nice surprise! yay adam! omg, i just realized that i will be seeing him tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!! (um, and thursday…..) its gonna be a great week!

Looking at that crowd of thousands of screaming people made me realize how damn lucky we are right now. We can see him on some Glam Nations stops that are less than 2,000 capacity. This will never happen again in Adam’s touring, IMO. I really encourage anyone who hasn’t seen him live yet to take advantage of a GN stop. I really feel that this summer will be one of those “I saw Adam when” moments a few years from now.

Adam sure looked like a winner to me. He looked very classy in his suit and, as always, spoke intelligently. A pleasure to look at and listen to! I can’t believe how he’s really become quite the celebrity in a year! Congrats to Adam on the award with more to come I’m sure…
