catzmadam
To Susan M. and ravengirl - the belt buckle that Adam is wearing was sent to him ages ago by a fan who posts regularly on the American Idol forums (Adams folder of course) and goes by the avatar of bowchickawowow.
I can remember reading discussions about the buckle when he first wore it and how excited everyone was that he was wearing a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“fanà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ gift.

Yep. That's a great belt buckle (and I'm not usually a fan of 'skull' accoutrements [heh]); IIRC, it's a profile cross-section of a skull, with watch parts (for lack of a better description) for the 'brain'.

isisdagmar
Is anyone else still really hoping that Slezak will do a Kradison idolatry interview?

And how utterly *awesome* would that be?! [raises her eyes imploringly to the heavens] Pleeeeeeeeeze?!?!

star
Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m sure heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll have a ballad on there, and Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d bet on it coming from Ryan Tedder.

Good call. And Adam's rendition of "Come Home" is amazing.

LOL @ "I am so sick of this water bottle!", "Surprise, surprise!" and the facials.

linsav
I bought my ticket to the L.A. tour stop. Never been to a concert by myself but am definitely going to enjoy it!

ME TOO! I bought my (one) ticket just last week (the concert is on July 8).

Adam, straighten up - slouching is bad! heh. And I've always thought that toque is hideous. Just yuck.

I'm just hoping we get way more of these impromptu vids throughout the summer :-) Adam promised tour vids up on his website, so I'm anxiously awaiting them!

Is there a nickname we can come up with for Adam, Kris and Katy? Kradaty?

HWC:

So if Kris (a.k.a. the guy who won American Idol) goes on to have a more successful career than Adam, then will you call him by his name? Or will you continue to be this disrespectful?

And please don't tell me this scenario isn't possible. I'm a big fan of both Kris and Adam, and I happen to think they will both be successful and hope both with have logn careers. Right now, Adam is the media darling. But until these guys actually have their own original music out and start touring on their own, I can't say who will end up being more successful -- although I could generalize by saying that singer-songwriters seemingly tend to have better staying power than more stylized types of musicians who are more vulnerable to changing tastes in music.

hwc, i assume you've seen this-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vdrl66RI0bc

and this, which has been confirmed by kris in interviews-
http://www.krisallenation.com/2009/05/kradam-finale.html

If you have, and you still don't see any actual affection, then it makes perfect sense you wouldn't have seen it in these interviews, either. Where I come from, you don't enthusiastically invade someone's personal space like that, or proclaim your friendship through the medium of nail polish, when your relationship is "merely" respectful and friendly. And there's a difference between "we're friends and we both feel like winners" sound bites, and "we just felt each other's energy and it became this great friendship," "I could go on about this forever," etc. etc. etc.

As for why people enjoy it? Other people have noted that women pick up on social interaction. I think it's like a buddy movie but with real people - we take vicarious pleasure in sweet, fun camaraderie. How on earth does that diminish from the musical talents of either one? I became a fan of Kris, Allison, and Adam for their music, and it's just my good luck that they're so much fun when they interview together. They all seem to have moved past the competition phase, if they were ever in it, what with all the helping each other out even during the run of the show. The show is the show, but these kids are probably more interested in their individual careers, and music is not a zero sum game. They are allowed to be awesome at the same time.

My dad died of heart disease, perhaps attributed to smoking. I, myself, smoked for 30 years (on and off), starting at 15, along with other risky behavior, as most kids do at times. We all make choices, some bad, some good.

The key word is choice -- free will.

On an entirely different level is the choice to like one Idol contestant over another, music-wise, personality-wise, et al.

I choose (along with the majority of voters as illustrated per the Idol outcome) to see it as Kris Allen and the other guy. (Although, I really don't because I like Adam and am not that petty.)

Kirs Allen, musically, is my thing. I think he's cool. Michael Sarver winning -- I don't think so, and Gokey had the same chance as Adam and Kris, but it didn't happen and it wasn't because of Dream On.

Season 7 had the same 1 million vote difference between David C., David A., and Syesha, which I found somewhat odd when Ryan said it held true this year, as well. David Cook, like Kris Allen, won by a high majority of votes.

Any American that had an interest, and even those who didn't, know who won American Idol. No matter how often or vociferoulsy you blog or post on message boards, it won't change that fact. They're not on here, they're not hearing you.

...and it must be tiring, making sure to never refer to Kris by his actual name.

It's not too bad. It's kind of second nature by now.

I kinda feel sorry for him. In all likelihood, he'll always be known as "that guy who won American Idol during Adam's season..." He's handling it with grace. It's not his fault. He made it to the finals where winning was inevitable. If it wasn't him, it could have been Michael Sarver winning.

Actually, it probaby would have been Gorkey, if he's just sung another song about Jesus or his dead wife instead of trying to do the Aerosmith scream.

BootStar:

Sorry you had to watch your father go like that.

I always like to throw in a public service announcement on smoking because you never know who might be just on the verge of deciding to quit. I like to tell people that 46 million Americans have quit smoking and that anyone can do it if they decide enough is enough.

Now...back to our regularly scheduled programming -- Adam and the guy who won American Idol.
