A few interesting news tidbits from twitter:

Kris Allen (@KrisAllen4Real) spent his Labor Day recording in Philadelphia (the Idols perform in Reading, PA Tuesday night)

Headed to philly to work with @alex_band. Should e a good day. At some point in life I will find time for sleeping.

Alex Band was a member of The Calling. You might remember their 2001 hit, “Wherever You Will Go”

Adam Lambert (@AdamLambert) held a twitter party with fans after the Idols’ show in Madison, WI Friday night.

A fan asked if Adam would eventually start a makeup line:

I just might…. :) unisex

Adam describes the sound of the song he recorded with producer Rob Cavallo for the 2012 soundtrack set for the fall:

Classic rock ballad. Earthy and catchy

Adam’s fan fundraising drive for DonorsChoose.org breaks the $100K mark!

Btw we reached 100K!! Http://www.donorschoose.org/adamlambert thank you all!!! ONTD_AI in the lead, Glamberts in second. Keep it comin!

Danny Gokey held his own twitter party after the Indianapolis, IN Saturday night.

Will he start an eye wear line?

I have a contract on my lawyers desk and we are working out the details

That sounds like a yes! More deets on his just-announced record deal with 19R/Sony Nashville:

Single will b out in Nov. And album will b out in march.. It’s gonna be great!

My label wants me to have 5 songs done this month.

Exciting news! I can’t wait to hear songs from Kris and Adam. The anticipation is killing me!

I feel like in previous years, music would have already been out at this time.

  • Truthiness

    New topics, huzzah!

Sorry you are laboring this Labor day, MJ. Hope you had some fun today.

From Alex’s blog “Hey everyone! I’m off to Memphis now to play a cool show tomorrow and then heading to Reading PA to meet up with Kris Allen and write with him for his upcoming album . . . ” Sounds like this collaboration is going well. Though we still don’t know how Kris’s producer(s) are, do we? That Kris, he could definitely be a spy with his super secret keeping skillz.

  • girlygirl

On his twitter page, Alex Band wrote today that he hadn’t ever met Kris prior to meeting up with him in Philly today. So it’ll be interesting to find out if they hit it off and if they came up with anything that ends up on kris’ album.

On a side note, when I was in the 7-11 this afternoon, the radio station they pipe into the store was playing The Calling — maybe that’s a sign, huh???

    Interesting indeed!

A fan asked if Adam would eventually start a makeup line:

Now we just need Kris to start a plaid t-shirts line!

Alex Band was a member of The Calling.

They were just a Lifehouse clone with less soul.

Wow, did I remember this wrong, because I thought they had met previously. That there were Twitters about it (though I’m too lazy too look). Maybe it was juat that Alex was writing songs for Kris and submitting them? A la everyone’s friend, Kevin Gillette? No idea, just confusion now.

  • steph6449

Great to see all three all moving ahead with their plans, and that at least Danny and possibly Adam evidently have serious possibilities for endorsement opportunities.

    That would be cute.

His voice is so sexy though, but you are right. I never made that connection but as I think about it now I can see where you are coming from.

I seem to recall from an interview that his mom was going house hunting for him. Has anyone heard any rumor about this or do you conjecture that his is just another “apartment-for-now”?
I don’t think he’s had any place to call his own since the end of Hollywood week (when he let sublet his studio to move into the mansion)!

    KRIS ALLEN & ALEX BAND

I don’t thnk he is submitting songs to Kris. Alex’s tweet today specified they had written two songs. He definately had to scribble some ideas down before meeting Kris and that’s what he tweeted about previously.
It seems they had a good time.

The calling band was never a clone. At least he had songs that were hits and a lot that were used in TV series. The most popular being

    1) WHEREVER YOU GO

2)WHY DON’T YOU AND I (with Carlos Santana)

And finally, Ilove his lyrics and sexy baritone voice

  • Vada

I love Alex Band (the Calling). Sorry for those who don’t.

On a happier note, it looks like the guys are trying to trend Michael Sarver. He is such a sweet guy, I hope it trends #1.

No they hadn’t met until today. Alex tweeted about two weeks ago that he would be writing with Kris.

He worked up a few ideas, and they chose two of those ideas to write today.

  • alison8701

Anoop tweeted it as well. Much better than last night when he tweeted “#mattgiraudhatgod” instead of “#signmattg”

  • Squirrely

I don’t dislike the Calling, but I can see a comparison to Lifehouse.

  • Vada

I know nothing about Lifehouse, so I can’t speak to that, but I do love Alex Band. I downloaded both of the Calling’s albums.

Here is Alex’ tweet from earlier.

Writing session with @KrisAllen4Real Is going great, lots of coffee being drank, getting two killer songs together. :)
about 4 hours ago from TwitterFon

They both had gigs in other states last night, and traveled all night. They were both majorly sleep deprived, but it sounds like it went well.

Killer songs sounds good to me. No one will be forced to listen against their will.

  • Squirrely

Well check out Lifehouse before you get all wrinkled they are a very good band.

  • Vada

Lifehouse has sold bazillions, so Kris should be so lucky. I will have to check them out. They just don’t get played on my active rock station.

the ontd_ai peeps are certainly organized when it comes to trending Idol related stuff, huh? I know they are planning to try and trend something for Allison before tour ends as well.

Unless his mom (or Drake??) has found a place for him, I doubt Adam has had the time to get himself a new place to live. I know he has talked about wanting to buy a house, but maybe he will move into somewhere temporary until he has the time to really look for a permanent place? Just somewhere bigger and nicer than where he was living prior to Idol? Hopefully somewhere with gates r other types of security to give him some privacy. I wonder 19 or RCA/Jive has anyone who deals with finding temp living quarters in L.A. for their artists? Kris & Katy are going to need somewhere to live in L.A. as well…

Very cool, bodes well. Hopefully they can create some good songs together. I’m not a real big fan of The Calling, but I can totally see Alex’s vibe meshing with Kris’s. He seems like a nice guy and whoa! that voice from that body/face was not what I expected the first time I saw them. That was funny.

Thanks Squirrely, I think I have heard ‘You and Me’, but it was a while ago. I’ll start with your list.

Truthiness, believe it or not, Alex just turned 28 in June. He has been around so long, I thought he would be older. He dropped out of school at 14 and later got his GED.

Didn’t Santana record Why Don’t You and I with someone else, but scrapped and re recorded with Alex Band?

    Reminder:

The meatloaf article is being discussed thoroughly in the headlines thread. Let’s keep the discussion there.

And let’s not turn this thread into a mini-headlines thread. We have one already. Keep the discussion focused on the topic. Thank you.

  • Squirrely

Alex does it better imo – Chad’s voice is to gravelly.

  • girlygirl

I know Danny’s signing just got officially announced, but I wonder if he’s been in the studio at all during tour. I can’t see any way he will be able to record 5 songs between end of tour and the end of September (which is what Danny said his label wants him to do) if he hasn’t already started working on stuff. Unless his label thinks they’ve already go songs lined up for him and will just have him record them without any actual creative input into the writing process?

Had to smile at your post about someone finding places to live in LA for Adam and Kris and “gated” areas.

I would think with all the hungry real estate agents in LA right now that it won’t be hard for Adam and Kris to find a place. And, based on current stats a truckload of people actually do most of their house hunting on line and usually just end up checking out 2 or 3 of their favorites in person. Gone are the days of touring a gazillion open houses to find that perfect fit. Just type in your requirements and the computer spits out the perfect match pretty much instantaneously.

Besides, Adam has lived in LA for years so he probably narrowed down his “ideal locations” a long time ago….and Katie will probably do the finding for her and Kris (with advise from Adam as to location).

Me, too. But it looks like it won’t be out until October. I wonder if this is what he is/was working on today or if he is working on a second song with Rob Cavalli.

    Tess:

I guess…Hey, they could come live down by me in Hermosa Beach…no paparazzi down this way — but lots of fancy houses/condos/townhouses with security entrances, ocean views, etc. up for sale!

Regarding Adams description of his 2012 song …

    Classic Rock Ballad…Earthy and Catchy.

Can you all give me your thoughts on what an “Earthy” song is?

  • alison8701

earthy to me just means organic and, well, classic. As opposed to like, something filled with synth and dance beats.

  • Sherena

Danny’s single added to the November madness. Album in March… which is late, so many will forget about him but it does mean RCA Nashville is serious about recording decent music with him.

That is my take also….Think along the lines of November Rain or Loving the Alien or Two out of three at bad. (since we are talking about Meatloaf too)

  • girlygirl

Earthy to me means simple and straightforward, without a lot of bells and whistles to it.

  • CindyM

Adam called his Tracks of My Tears performance earthy, so I imagine no electronic elements and strong vocals.

I love “Wherever You Will Go”, it is one of my favorites. If Kris has someone like that I would definitely buy.

  • Kanadie Bonttell

Thanks for setting me straight on Earthy!

  • CindyM

Thanks VanJess38, I had only heard the Santana song with Chad Kroeger. I really liked the Alex Band version. He’s got a great voice.

Adam on 2012 song: Classic rock ballad. Earthy and catchy

“Classic rock ballad.” “catcyy” Ok, I think that means that I’ll llike it!!

“Earthy” I haven’t got a clue. Except perhaps it’s because 2012 might have a happy ending and Earth survives. No, I really don’t have a clue. And the ending to 2012 is still a secret EXCEPT it is suppose to end with Adam’s 2012 song!!

girlygirl: Q3, How do you know Adam was working today? The only tweet I saw from Adam today was the one wishing everyone a Happy Labor Day. I figured he simply had a day off for once’ ¦

It’s in the headlines thread – Pittsburgh Gaz interview. Looks like no rest for Kris or Adam. But Adam had to go to California again, I think.

  • Adamme

Me, too. But it looks like it won’t be out until October. I wonder if this is what he is/was working on today or if he is working on a second song with Rob Cavalli.

I was wondering earlier if he’s actually flew to LA to work with Cavalli or if he’s just taking a day off? He didn’t tweet anything, must be a secret project (or not) LOL

  • BeckyMD

I like The Calling and I can totally see Alex’s vibe meshing with Kris’s. Now I’m more excited than before about Kris’ album.

  • girlygirl

    Q3

Do you mean in the Meatloaf interview? I don’t think that means Adam was meeting with Meatloaf and Rob Cavalli today — there’s no timeline specified in that interview. And we have no clue when that reporter even talked with Meatloaf. It would be totally nuts for Adam to fly from Pennsylvania to L.A. and then back to Pennsylvania in the course of less than 48 hours. I know he did the KC-L.A.-MN thing, but even that is only about half as far as PA-L.A.-PA would be. And Adam hasn’t tweeted anything about working today. I’m betting Adam had today off…

  • Q3

I was wondering earlier if he’s actually flew to LA to work with Cavalli or if he’s just taking a day off? He didn’t tweet anything, must be a secret project (or not) LOL

Based on the Meatloaf interview posted in the headlines thread, Adam went to California and will be “meating” (ha ha) his second dad and “biggest” fanboy — Mr. Loaf — and working with Rob Cavalli. On what, who knows? Sure sounds like 2012 song is done they way people (includng Adam) have talked/tweeted about it.

  • boredinschool

‘Earthy’ I haven’t got a clue. Except perhaps it’s because 2012 might have a happy ending and Earth survives. No, I really don’t have a clue. And the ending to 2012 is still a secret EXCEPT it is suppose to end with Adam’s 2012 song!!

earthy to me just means organic and, well, classic. As opposed to like, something filled with synth and dance beats.

    Oooh okay sounds good ;-)

  • Truthiness

Q3, I’m taking my questions about this article about Meatloaf and Ada’ms possibly being in California today, to the headines thread, so we won’t make this one and keep more on these topics.

Which topic would be a person wearing Gokey lines of glasses, Adam Lambert make-up line and wearing a Kris plaid shirt. HAWTT! surefire commerical success.

  • girlygirl

Again, that Meatloaf interview didn’t say WHEN he was meeting with Adam. I really doubt it was today. Why would Adam’s label/management wear him out by making him fly 7,000+ miles roundtrip in a 24-hour span when they easily could schedule this meeting for next week or the following week after tour ends? Makes absolutely no sense to me that they would wear Adam down like that.

  • isisdagmar

Based on the Meatloaf interview posted in the headlines thread, Adam went to California and will be ‘meating’ (ha ha) his second dad and ‘biggest’ fanboy ‘” Mr. Loaf ‘” and working with Rob Cavalli.

But Meatloaf already met Adam at Cavallo’s house way back when he first recorded the 2012 song–maybe there’s some miscommunication, but I think he’s talking about that song, not about any new song for Adam from Cavallo. So, I doubt he was going to CA today. Hopefully not, anyway.

That’s interesting, that Alex Band song was ubiquitous during my middle school years and I never knew whose song it was till now. :)

  • Q3

MJ, sorry I referenced the meatloaf interview in my 2012 comment. It is in the headlines thread and I have added my explanation there.

Is Alex Band hard up for gigs? He played at the Delta Fair last night in Memphis. Jasmine Murray and Alexis Grace are also performing at this fair. This fair doesn’t really bring many people out for their musical acts. A really “good act” might have 500 people watching. It’s not like the Mid-South fair which can have 5,000 or more for their musical headliners. I’ve never really heard of Alex Band, but I am very familiar with the Delta Fair. Just Wondering?

No, Alex Band is not hard up for gigs. He’s working on getting his debut solo album released and loves performing so much that he does a few off shows while he waits. Alex is the former lead singer, songwriter for The Calling…You know – Wherever You Will Go? Anyway, he’s an amazing performer and his live concerts are the best. He told me he and Kris wrote some great stuff. I can’t wait to hear it.

Regarding Danny, there was an interview today in which he says he’s in touch with his label and they are working together to choose songs. There also have been some short comments from bloggers/tweeters where I’ve seen songwriters in Nashville expressing interest in having Danny look at their songs, at least one of them pretty prominent in that market.

I don’t believe Danny has started recording yet, he’s been saying that will start when he goes to Nashville after tour as far as I know. Would love to know who Danny’s producers will be, don’t believe that has yet been made public.
