what happened to the 30′s? Not that I’m complaining.

Still early. I said this on PF, but maybe there’s going to be some type of juxtaposition from a futuristic destroyed Alexandria ballroom with cuts from it in it’s 1930′s glorious heyday. That would be really cool.

I doubt they’d choose this gorgeous location without really utilizing it. Also, Adam mentioned his vision and it would be an interesting contrast.

I do and I don’t. I think you get things like Michelin Man which is totally taken out of the context it was meant to be seen in. It also ruins what could be a great surprise by seeing the video for the first time as the artist and director intended it to be seen.

Anyway- so I’ll just say that the narrating is all proud him (ofcourse) and shows some of his remarkable performances (aren’t they all?? But srsly- Satisfaction, ROF, Cryin’ and then “Shir Lashalom”- Song For Peace” that he sang at Rabin’s memorial…
The interviewer asks him things that fans asked- and the last thing went something like:
“Dana would like to know- since you’ve said you can sometimes kiss girls- whether you could kiss me (i.e. the interviewer)” and then she says to the camera “Thanks Dana!!” half-sarcasticly

So our sweet bb says “Well- you know I also said that I have to be in a certain mood in order to do it” with those mischeivious eyes of his, but then added “Wait- give me your hand” and he kissed her hand and she was all blushing…
It was real sweet!

Yes, I believe we do The professionals are paid well to be discreet and to perform their best efforts to ensure a successful product. I’m sure leakage by a hidden fan/stalker that is only there because you tweeted the location and time to the twitterverse at large isn’t part of the plan.

I just also think that some fans go beyond all respectful boundaries sometimes and think nothing of it. This to me, is an example of it. It’s as bad to me as that person who snuck into Adam’s family after-concert gathering by telling a security guard she was a member of the family and then taking and tweeting pictures of Adam with his brother.

the person w/ the vid is from AO i believe and they are not stalking anyone they are in a public parking lot across the street. this is being done in the middle of the day where anyone passing by can see what is going on. i dont think any privacy rights are being violated here. besides all they really have on the vid is some equipment trucks outside and maybe some shots of extras thats not really an inside scoop on the vid.

Agreed. And considering that the person they are stalking, and claiming to be a fan of, has expressed that he was a little less than thrilled with the out-of-context Tweetpics from that make-up person, shouldn’t that be a consideration? I mean if one says they are some big fan of Adam’s, so much so that they are going to do stalk him, they then sneak on set , why not consider that he might not want you Tweeting all this information? But of course it’s about them and their brush with fame. And of course people on Twitter are egging them on, especially, and I’m sorry to say in this case, people that go to ontd_ai. Because they’re so caught up in what they want in terms of the fandom from Adam, that becomes more important it seems than considering whether what they’re doing is actually good for Adam.

She’s there because she saw a tweet that Adam was going to be there. She’s there to catch a glimpse of Adam and maybe film footage. It’s not like she was walking down the street passing by and randomly came upon OMG!! the Adam Lambert video shoot. She had a plan and she carried it out. She showed up at a location to get footage of a shoot that she is not involved in. It’s not open to the public, there was no advertisement to come down and enjoy the scenery. I didn’t say she was a crazy stalker, but a stalker nonetheless.

This third woman is the same woman who pretended to be a fan of Adam’s friend, Danielle, and went to her performance just to see Adam. She posted pic’s of herself with Adam’s mom and with Adam.

This woman had a friend take a video of her approaching Adam and engaging him when he came out of his hotel.

This woman also made a visit to Adam’s hairdresser.

Again, she is not one of the two who tweeted today.

Girls have been sneaking into the bathrooms and dressing rooms of rock stars forever, it is a time honored tradition. Twitter hasn’t changed it, just given it a wider audience. Used to be best you got out of it was a story to tell your best friend and your kids when you grew up.

Not that I agree with sneaking around a video shoot, but these girls are hardly breaking new ground… the funny thing is that in this case the person they are sneaking around to see would be so much more amenable to find Jack hiding behind the pot plant than Jane

ITA about entitled fan issue. It is sad… they often end up spoiling it for other respectful, admiring fans. For the Talent, it must be so invasive and creepy. Not flattering at all. Adam knew what he was signing up for… and this is part of the deal… but that doesn’t make it right. JMO.

In Boston, there is a fair amount of filming. It’s exciting when we see stars go into Sonsie (a restaurant across from the school I work for). We watch from our windows or walk by casually to see if we can catch a star, but that’s it. As far as I know, none of us never sneak into the restaurant, however, and take video (but I don’t know, b/c everyone uploads everything to YouTube these days).

Were three people sneaking onto the set and taping what they say or just posting from it? Isn’t that what happened w/ the TfM video? Sorry I’m late to the part, but can someone summarize this for me, please?

Not like TfM. With TfM and actual teen girl of 15 Tweeted ‘hey, they’re filming on my street. Oh hey it’s that American Idol guy…Adam Lambert.’ and so Adam Twitter stalkers started asking her questions about what was happening in front of her house. Very different than people who deliberately went out of their way to very deliberately try to get into a closed set.

Plus the TfM stalk used terms like moostach and “little dots of hair,” so she was funny that way.

As much as I enjoyed the leaks this afternoon, I was wishing there was a way to stop it. I was drawn in like a car wreck.

The question is for me, right? Ya, I saw him walking from the parking lot into the building. I literally screamed Adaaaaaaam when he walked by. I was inside a restaurant though, so he didn’t see or hear us.

I live in Los Angeles and see filming all of the time. There will be plenty of security. It is what it is when you film in a public place.

I work in Atlanta and I’m from Savannah and lots of movies and tv are shot in both places. In Savannah the stars go unnoticed. I remember when Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was filmed there. Clint Eastwood and John Cusack, Kevin Spacey. They all lived there during the filming and went about their business just like everyone else. They just finished the latest Miley Cyrus movie and Miley and her mother went shopping and out to lunch and dinner without being bothered by fans.

Now in Atlanta, most of the reaction the movie makers get is, “GDit!! They are fucking up traffic just to film that stupid movie!!!”

Adam was shooting his video for FYE. Three 60 year old women infiltrated the shoot and were flashing him. Two got away, but one was caught hiding behind a marijuana plant.

Ummm, *cough*, I am 35, not 60 *cough* Haha.

There are three women involved today. We have seen tweets from two. The third woman announced she would be going today and tweeted with the other two the other night.

This third woman is the same woman who pretended to be a fan of Adam’s friend, Danielle, and went to her performance just to see Adam. She posted pic’s of herself with Adam’s mom and with Adam.

This woman had a friend take a video of her approaching Adam and engaging him when he came out of his hotel.

This woman also made a visit to Adam’s hairdresser.

Again, she is not one of the two who tweeted today.

Yes, middle aged and made two visits to the hair stylist. She also told Adam’s mother that she looked better in person than on the internet (when she hijacked him at Danielle’s event)

Her photos invoke the most visceral ick factor for me. They are on IDF. Adam is not looking thrilled but polite, of course. He’s wearing a casual old tee shirt and it was a local bar like a real bar that we call “sawdust floor” in Philly..and he definitely was not expecting fans especially older women dressed in dressy SUITS with Pins on the lapels (lol).

Imagine the creepiness for his MOM. omg.

I don’t know, doesn’t really look all that wild compared to some of the other videos out there. Besides, there may be multiple versions of the video. Adam sold a shitload of videos on Itunes, at one point, I think he had 15 of the top 25 videos in itunes. There may be an edit for regular television, an edit for cable and both available for sale.

Who the heck wants tasteful and appropriate? The more the merrier. Whips, I mean, of course.

No problem. I’m late to the party, was just joining in. I have to say this thread is too funny! Posters saying how awful it is to stalk the site of where the video is being shot, but yet they’re in this thread, waiting for any news of it lol!

When I first heard FYE, my brain went right to the sexy images. The interpretation that the lyrics speak to fans is more obvious to me now. It’s a warning that some may be uncomfortable with his after-AI style. I didn’t say that very well. Anybody want to explain it to me better?

Exactly. That’s why these people don’t do Adam any favors by doing this. There’s no context. I agree with some others here, it doesn’t look like bondage wear to me. It looks like freaky-deaky post-apocalyptic wear. Fitting if they’ve outfitted the ballroom to look destroyed. Like a beacon, goth, spiky-haired FIERCE Adam enters and delivers entertainment through his beats and even the most savage of post-apocalyptic denizens starts shaking their asses to the music. I expected this from Adam and really if you don’t like it maybe you should be a fan of the other guy and quit complaining about Adam being Adam.

Telling people what fandom is, isn’t anyone’s call. As for the rest like what he wore on GMA or his FYE cover may not actually be true. And even if they were, I wouldn’t have known or cared if some on the internet didn’t want to giggle about it. So not it was highlighted or acted out. I mean certainly not for an acoustic performance of Starlight.

The thing with Adam is some people are always ready to jump to the negative instead of riding out the wave with him. I know I’ve wavered a time or two – but I’m there for him for the long haul. Instead of the hang wringing – just wait and see, everything is always much clearer the next day with Adam. I bet this video is fantastic. People were puzzled over TfM video too and I adore the finished product.

Same with the album cover and the album title, people freaked, but then it all came together and made sense. I freaking love his album title it’s so appropriate. Adam moves to the beat of his own drum, catch the rhythm and shake your ass with him.

The question is, will it make the song more memorable? Can it create a positive buzz? Or at least a buzz that sells product.

I don’t remember what award show it was, but Prince performed in a bright yellow outfit, and when he turned around there were his “cheeks” in all their glory. This was AGES ago.

Adam said he loved Gaga’s Bad Romance video, so this is not surprising. I watched a couple of vids recently, hadn’t been watching MTV and VH-1 for quite some time. I bet this turns out to be “medium” out there. Also, rap vids seem to have women in bikinis/thongs all the time. The vid is probably for one audience; the AMA performance may be more mainstream. Although what constitutes “mainstream” these days is a mystery to me.

My son and I just saw it this afternoon. We both really liked the movie. It was very entertaining, but I do love disaster movies. The time went by quickly and the theater was packed. And Adam does sing over the credits.

Look at who RCA hooked him up with as collaborators and musicians for the music, Sassycatz, I don’t think RCA is skimping ANY on the music here. You don’t get Orianthi, Paul McCartney’s guitarist and drummer, Justin Hawkins and the producers and co-writers he got because you’re skimping on the music. Experienced guitarist in Monte Pittman who played with Madonna forever, the keyboardist who used to play with Korn. Not signs of skimping. Music Videos are an important part of selling the song. Look at what other idol’s sales have done after their mv premiered. Yay RCA!!!

I get he’s not your type of performer, Cook and Allen are more your style. Cool, that there’s an audience for all kinds of music and presentation. Kinda jumping to conclusions, don’t you think? It’s not as if any of us have actually seen a video to make such judgments. Would it not be fairly wise to wait until we actually have something to base such sentiments upon, first? Not saying you will like the video once complete, but at least wait for a product to exist before judging it.

I think this video looks awesome. It’s not my own personal lifestyle, but I think it fits the song well (certainly it’s the image I got from hearing the song and infinitely better fit than the “here to entertain the fans” idea) and will be good entertainment. I know a lot of people like realism, and that’s cool, but LOTS, maybe most, of the entertainment I enjoy most is not my own personal lifestyle. For example, my favorite reads are murder mysteries, or anything by Jane Austen – soooo not my lifestyle, but great entertainment.

And, given that Adam is apparently still interested in the kind of thing he did with Zodiac, I’m glad he gets to do it and that the Idol run didn’t spoil that for him. Like, I wish Danny got to do the Latin soul he wanted to do instead of having to do country (I’ve got it in my mind that he had earlier said he didn’t want to do country, but I may be remembering that wrong). Anyway, I like it when the peeps can emerge from Idol and do their thing. I know that some or their desires might be too uncommercial to be viable, so of course they compromise, but it’s nice when that doesn’t happen.

Especially so when the thing they want to do, like this thing of Adam’s, is not at all what you’d imagine the Idol producers setting out to look for. It’s not like he’s just being the little popboy they were looking for, he brought this to the table, and they’re letting him run with it. It may be a case of giving him enough rope to hang himself, but if he does, it’ll be a spectacular and entertaining hanging.

I’m really wanting the album to come out. I’ve not found the clips all that interesting, but given the reviews and given what he can do, I’m cautiously hopeful that there will be some good music when all the pieces fall into place.

I made a CD for my car with FYE, TFM, MP and WWFM and I blasted it while I was out today it was HEAVEN. I wasn’t even frustrated when I was backed up at the tolls. I can’t wait to have the whole album. I already know all the words to these songs so I was alone in my car singing my head off, and choking on the high notes.

Honestly? I’m freakin thrilled that he’s apparently going to have some buff male dancer dressed like a goth Aztec warrior appearing in his video. It’s cool that he gets to push the visual envelope in a way that he probably couldn’t during his run on AI. Bring it on. Would it not be fairly wise to wait until we actually have something to base such sentiments upon, first? Not saying you will like the video once complete, but at least wait for a product to exist before judging it.

That would certainly be wiser, but not nearly as much fun. At least, I’m assuming the whole point of having threads devoted to shots of the dancers standing around near the set and stalker scoops is so that we can speculate about the actual end product. Similar to posts with snippets of the songs.

Seeing that one photo on the front of this post got me interested in the album again – I’m judging the video to be interesting based on that one thing. Not wise, I may be sorely disappointed.

Hearing the snippets, I judged the music to be uninteresting, so far. Again, not wise – the actual songs may be kind of cool. But forming an opinion is human nature, so the only way to avoid it is to not read posts like this.

My guess, the vast majority of people don’t look at this preview stuff, and just wait to hear/see end results before forming any opinion whatsoever, but (most of) those people are probably not reading sites like this. But here we are, seeing stuff and either liking it or disliking it, and one isn’t any wiser than the other.

All I know is my son and I went to the 1:30 show this afternoon. When we came out into the lobby at about 4:15 there was a long line of people waiting to take our seats and the lobby was packed full of people.

Yep, I went to the first showing yesterday. It was showing at 3 theaters in the 12 theater multiplex. All three first showings were sold out. Got out about 3:00, got outside and all three next showings were sold out, signs on the boxoffice window. They were selling tickets for the 7:00pm show and later.

I doubt it ‘“ I doubt he will actually be touching anyone male or female.

This would land me in no end of a depression.

Looking forward to seeing the video for FYE. I know Adam loves to shock, but I hope this is not over the top bondage and the like. If he wants success, he needs to find a middle ground. Is it really so awful to try to appeal to the type of people that supported him during the AI competition and bought tickets for the the first time to an AI concert just for the thrill of seeing him. Sure he is amazingly talented (what a voice!), but where would he have been without that support. He saw who the people were that were screaming for him. I attended one of the AI concerts and the people that were going crazy for him did not look like bondage fans. He worked so hard during his frustrating years in LA for a measure of success, hope he doesn’t throw it all away by going for the “shock and awe” right away. FYE the Snippets, so far bears barely a distant cousin relationship to FYE the Album. The album seems to be about a kind of sonic layering. Stuffing nooks and crannies with roccoco swirls. So that something new reveals with each listening. Like Adam’s tour performances always had another little something each time.

Not saying this will happen on every song. Not saying every song will be a jewel. And we haven’t heard them all. Just saying now, knowing snippets lie, am committed to reserving judgment until I’ve heard the whole album. Several times. High quality, from a physical CD. Over earphones.

Same with the video. There is no telling what the theme, point, impact, look, feel, editing pace, color scheme, camera angles, message, or anything at all will be. Since we have long known that Twitter lies, really, ain’t nothing we can say for sure until we watch the finished product.

That may be why they are also selling the single WYWFM and letting radio play it. That may be what he sings on the daytime talk shows where a big production may not be possible. Adam’s talked about different singles for different markets…maybe that’s the plan.

I’m kinda ticked because I’m a straight guy and now I can’t get the image of a buff guy in make-up shaking his naked ass right in front of my face to this song out of my head. Apparently, ME! LOL! I don’t qualify as particularly young (not particularly old yet, either, but I’m headed that way sooner than the other direction–LOL!) Really, guys, I’m SURE our imaginations are waaaaaaayyyy wilder than what we’re ultimately going to see. Regardless of what Adam may want to do (flaming head or whatever….), the fact of the matter is that RCA/Sony have a lot of money riding on him right now. The rapid fire quick cuts that are in vogue these days will probably be in use here. A scene that show for even less than one second in a video can still require hours to set up with full cast, costuming, and makeup. The sorts of things that if you blink you missed it.

Seriously, I wonder if the posted picture had just shown scantily clad women in thongs if this conversation would even be taking place. It’s like, we’re all used to THAT. I LOVE that Adam is switching things up a bit, making everything more equal/androgynous. I know that some people are just concerned that he’ll turn off certain segments of the population, and I do understand that concern, although I don’t have it myself. The show is fine for performers who can blend in with a dancing Poptart but Adam isn’t that type. It’s a damn shame he had to go on the show in the first place but what’s done is done.

Everytime I see this I think that people are trying to perpetuate the status quo. It’s about time we should get someone like Adam as winner to change things up.

It would be great, I agree if we could break the status quo, but AI is what it is. A tv singing contest. Perhaps things might change as Adam may make people who were uninterested in AI to start watching the show and vote! Then, maybe then, the show might show some depth. Right now, however, it is still considered a family show that parents watch with their kids, so until that changes, it will always be PG (not even PG-13). Since that is the demographic, and advertising is aimed at that demographic, the winners will always be safe.

THANK YOU! I really think that his M.O. is to push boundaries. Sure, he has a great voice, but so do many other people. He’s a complete package, a product, and part of that product includes an element of surprise and, frankly, a rather suggestive (sexy, IMO) stage presence. That’s what sets him apart from other entertainers. Anyone shocked by their mental images of this video must not have seen his pre-Idol Zodiac and Cat Club stuff. He’s never been shy, that’s for darn sure!

So much speculation and assumption over a couple pictures and a few tweets. RCA isn’t going to put something out there that can’t be shown on VH1. It will be a spectacle and sexy, I’m sure, in the vein of Lady Gaga; but they need Adam to be seen and the song to sell.

And, the AMA performance will also have the spectacle, but you can be sure that it won’t be anything that could scare people off. RCA has the final say on all things Adam. They will let him push some boundaries, because that is who Adam is, and that’s part of the appeal, but they want him to be viable commercially.

I’m sure that Adam, the director, RCA, etc. are all more than aware of just how far they can push the boundaries with this video. It will likely be tamer than what some of the tweets are suggesting.

YES! I’ve totally noticed this. He is always completely clad. Honestly, he dresses very conservatively. The only thing he ever shows are his arms, but he usually has on long sleeves. He’s always running around LA in long sleeves and leather!! He is a very conservative dresser–almost old fashioned.

He has such a sexy stage presence (and doesn’t hesitate to draw attention to one particular part of his body), I think that we almost forget how he doesn’t really show off much (if any) skin. As I mentioned previously, I think that he is self conscious about his body; thinks he doesn’t have great arms, and feels he isn’t in great shape. It just kills me that despite with these preconceived notions about himself he is able to create this stage persona that has people calling him a sex god!! And to top it off, he doesn’t even have a boyfriend right now!!!

Some sex god!! He’s a workaholic who is self conscious about his body and used to think he’s ugly (and probably still has moments of great doubt). I honestly don’t know how he’s pulled it off, but he has.

There are going to be lots of half naked sweaty bodies in this video but Adam won’t be one of them.

It seems to me that it is mostly those deeply invested in the Idol world – by that I mean long time fans of the show – that are really upset by Adam. He isn’t playing the Idol game like he is supposed to….he is almost deliberately dissing the “middle America” concept (mind set not geography) of the show and it seems to really p**s off long time devotees of Idol. It is clearly a high risk strategy but RCA seems to be behind him and, based on what we know of Adam to date and who he was before Idol, to expect him to be happy any other way is unrealistic. Even those who hate him at this point must surely admire his guts in sticking to who he is and not compromising in a way that he would personally find unbearable.
Also, today marks the 50th in a row that FYE has been in the top 100 on Amazon. Congrats Adam!

Also, I don’t remember who posted about this, but I’m like, huh — what jump up the charts for TFM is that person talking about? Right now, TFM’s at #213 on the iTunes chart.. Was it in the 250′s or something? Because #213 isn’t very good…

Right now LLWD is a very modest hit and seems to be going in the right direction on iTunes. Also I really like the LLWD video. But this thread really has 0 to do with Kris. So I’m not sure why he was even mentioned.

I was trying to come up with a reasonable rational response, but I got hung up on the packaging,

Give me a moment or a few.

I remember going to see the play “Hair” when I was 18. There was nudity onstage, and guys in loincloths flying over our heads hanging from ropes, etc. When you’re young, you like to push boundaries and be rebellious (at least I did). And of course Hair was all about free sex, but it was more idealistic then (is how I remember it).

Today things go farther with violent images and what used to be considered “dark” fantasies. We’ve seen stuff like this projected Adam video with Madonna, Pink, Christina A, Britney, et al.

I think what makes this video potentially notable is:
1) The gay male element, possible male/male action, male nudity, etc.
2) The bondage aspect
3) The fact that he just came off of AI, and most Idol alumni seem to be aware of the Idol brand and try not to do anything too outrageous at least for awhile
4) The fact that a lot of families and kids watched the show and are Adam fans, are they ready for this?
5) The fact that they (RCA and 19) don’t seem to be trying to court the AI audience but are reaching out for the kind of people that might not even watch the show – and they don’t seem to be having a grace period first but are jumping in with both feet.

If nothing else this creates interest in the video. I hope it won’t be too ott, for the sake of some who watched the show who just aren’t ready for it. Though I know these days we justify things by saying “there’s a lot worse out there” so that makes anything okay. But really there are a lot of really raunchy videos on tv, so this will probably not be raunchy in comparison, it’s just the American Idol connection that gives it that added sense of novelty and surprise.

I’m not sure if it’s smart to be so out there (though we haven’t seen the actual video yet) on the very first one. But then again, lady gaga and rappers etc. have a huge audience so … I’m sure Adam will have a big audience too. Not necessarily the same fan group that started out with him after the show, many might back off a bit, but others will take their place, those who like things edgier.

It’s interesting that some radio stations seem to prefer the other song to FYE which is probably too edgy for many stations and for a lot of tv too, especially daytime tv. All I can say is, Adam is making his mark, being himself, and he’ll end up with fans who like what he does, and he’ll gain some fans and lose some fans along the way, most likely.

It’s funny, some people are talking like Adam is financing, producing, and creating this video all on his own. I’m sure he has input, but there is a whole team of people guiding things along with a whole lot of financial interest in Adam being successful.

OT, but does anyone think we will get an album stream maybe sometime this week? I really can’t wait.

The $200 mill figure doesn’t even take into account the advertising and marketing expeneses, so the actual cost of 2012 is much higher. And during the first weeks of a film’s run as much as half of the box-office take goes to the exhibitors, so no, the studio didn’t make its money back this weekend. It’s a good start though.

It’s okay for the guest singers to do that sort of thing but if one of the contestants sang about oral sex or had their ass hanging out the viewers would give ‘em the ol’ heave ho. I’m still surprised Adam survived his ROF extravaganza and that was fairly tame. He just eye fucked the camera and looked like he was ready to jizz. I would have liked him to go further but it appears that was quite enough for the Idol viewership.

Watching what Adam does, and everyone else’s reaction to it, is a show in and of itself. That is what makes Adam a star. He is the star of his own show. Will everybody like his show? No, but they will be talking about it. Some might even like getting things they “didn’t know they wanted.”

Will the show be a big hit or a big flop with the general public? Nobody knows for sure. But I like that Adam goes for the BIG. That is big with me and will likely keep me a big fan for a long time to come.

The artist pays 1/2 and maybe more of the costs of the video. I think they come out of their profits from the album (if there any any). All I know is that Blake Lewis said he got a bill for $250K for his crazy cheap looking mess of a video. I can’t imagine what Adam’s shoot full of dancers/models etc. will cost. Probably 2 or 3x that amount.

Whew!! After learning about Adam’s hand accessories from the GMA performance this summer, I was expecting something a little more risque.

I love how sexual Adam is. I’m glad he does what he wants and smiles at all the reactions it always ignites. However if all he meant by pushing boundaries and shaking things up is by being sleazy then color disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, sleaze is sexy and provocative if done right but I thought adam would push the boundaries in terms of creativity, artistic expression, and theatrical showmanship. That’s what I was excited for, especially from his music video which is a great opportunity to show his skills as a creator visually. To me there is nothing innovative or imaginative about half naked dancers in bondage gear. I know I can’t judge based on 3 twit pics, I just hope there is more to this pushing boundaries theory than just being as uber sexual as gaga or Britney. One of Adam’s qualities that attracted me early on was that element of surprise. I remember looking forward to each of his performances on Idol and wondering……. What is he going to wear, what will he sing, will it be a ballad or will he rock out the house, how will his hair be styled, etc. Almost invariably I was wrong, so yes, he did surprise me as he promised.

Adam has a very unique quality (talent) where he can totally change his performances to appeal to a variety of audiences. He already did the “serious” TFM video. Now he’s doing a complete turnabout with a “fun and sexy” FYE video. In a few weeks he will be targeting yet another audience when he performs at the fundraiser honoring Steven Spielberg. When you think about it, I can’t name another recording artist who is this extremely versatile. Certainly not Britney, Madonna, Lady Gaga, or even MJ. This, I feel, is one of the many beautiful and wonderful facets of this young man that will catapult him to stardom!

Don’t get me wrong, sleaze is sexy and provocative if done right but I thought adam would push the boundaries in terms of creativity, artistic expression, and theatrical showmanship.

Adam is doing sexy for this video because the lyrics are sexy. If the lyrics weren’t sexy, he wouldn’t be doing sexy. Recall from the tour, WLL was totally different from Mad World. Adam does not do sexy gratutitously; he does it when the lyrics call for it. Moreover, HE doesn’t show off his body at all. I’m not surprised to see him as fully clad as though he is straight out of the Victorian era.

The performances that offend me are the ones where the sexy is gratuitous and seems to be present as a cheap grab for attention. This happens A LOT with mostly naked WOMEN in videos. Shake some t and a and see if you can sell some music or videos. Everything gets turned into a half naked sex romp regardless of the lyrics.

If Adam does videos for his songs that are about hearbreak, longing, and vulnerability, I expect they won’t look anything like the fye video.
I don’t think that Adam is relying on sexy just for effect; he is bringing some very sexy lyrics to life. There is a difference.

ETA: regardless, we should wait to see the video. It may push boundaries in ways that we don’t expect right now.

Art is entertainment. Music is entertainment. Music combined with visual experiences is entertainment. Not everyone is a cookie-cutter type performer. There are different forms of entertainment. Adam’s vocal talent has been praised by more people in the musical industry than I’ve ever heard from an Idol contestant. Rob Cavallo, who has worked with other Idols, in particular has spoken about Adam’s vocal greatness. So yes, some artists may use it as a crutch. Adam does it because that’s who he is. He’s always been a performer. His pre-idol days show both sides of his musical abilities. One doesn’t have to sit on a stool and strum a guitar to have musical integrity. Sometimes, the “oh I’m so soulful, I feel things so deep” when you’re singing tripe lyrics is just as much of a crutch as britney’s trapeze.

I agree. NO ONE on Idol has EVER been able to change it up the way Adam has, and THAT IS WHY we could not wait to see what he would do every week. Would he be suave (FG)? Would he be earnest (ToMT), daring (ToF), campy (PTFM), yearning (MW), strong (ACIGC), and so on. You just never knew, and that is what made “you so exciting.. You are it.” (Paula) If he just did FYE, I would not be really interested, but when you also get Soaked, TfM, MP, WWFM, FYE, and so on, well, how can you not be intrigued, if nothing else?

Just looked at http://www.fadedyouthblog.com and I’m trying to be supportive of Adam but the dancers in these photos look tacky to me.

I don’t know if the guy wearing faded jeans and no shirt is one of the dancers or not but he looks damn fine, the others, especially the guy with the long thingie hanging over his thingie look icky.

Hopefully they will be dancing so fast they will just be a blur in the video. Otherwise I may have to abstain.

This made me smile because I remember my mother being very shocked by MJ back in the day. She would talk about how vulgar his dancing and crotch grabbing was.

Now she is 82 and loves Adam Lambert. She is a big AI fan and voted for him from the beginning. Last time I visited her, she told me she loves Adam Lambert and is going to buy his album. This was after I played TFM for her. I guess I better show her the Zodiac show soon so she can make an accurate decision.
