His face when he talks about the flaming headdress is just adorable. He looks like such a little boy. First you see the Crawl Through Fire clip in the trailer and think..OMG…then Awww. Amazing.

All I can say is that I hope they put out a DVD…I would love to buy this.

I wish they would put “Black Dog” and “Crawl Thru Fire” up on iTunes. I would buy them in a minute, mp3 and video.

I hope so, took HotHotHot. I am sure it will be available after it hits Sundance (since they don’t want it to go “straight to DVD” I bet).

ADAM: HOT. But they don’t let him use the flaming headdress, and he is so disappointed. He wanted to dress up, and his elders said no. lol

ETA: The flaming headdress is actually from an interview, not the doc (I don’t think…maybe a longer promo?). He is on the phone and says, Why can’t I wear the flaming headdress? They say, Um, no, and he kind of pouts.

Not sure why this clip is considered new other than the date on YouTube – I saw it almost 2 weeks ago. I just wish they’d bring back that clip that featured Adam presenting his costume idea and being shot down in flames… so he wouldn’t go up in flames.

I think the Zodiac Show just periodically posts and unposts the same vids so the dates look fresh and we think it’s something new.

Very interesting indeed. Once Adam’s “hotness” spiral out of control, anything in his past will be gold mine. I am sure a DVD will be issued sooner than we think.

IMO it’s actually somewhat appropriate to bring up the subject of the Zodiac Show again. Some are worried about Adam going the Lady Gaga route, and while he probably will in the sense of performance art, he has a voice that will transcend that. His roots seem to be firmly based in rock music and I think he’s really going to bring us something extra special by fusing it with other elements. (Hmmm, Adam the alchemist?)

I can’t wait this see as one continuous piece instead youtube snippets. I would see it if it comes to a local theater but I really want the DVD.
It would be awesome if it wins a Sundance award – that would almost guarantee they will do another one.

I need paragraphs!

The Zodiac Show film has been submitted to 2010 Sundance Film Festival but the list of accepted films won’t be out for a while. It has a good shot of being selected.

Was anyone else just listening to 94.1 in San Diego? The DJ just finished interviewing Ryan Tedder and he had some amazing things to say about Adam. He mentioned 2 new titles, but I got interrupted and only heard Sleepwalker. Crap. The two he mentioned were probably the ones he still has in the running for making the album. He was asked about what was different about working as a songwriter for others as opposed to One Republic, and Ryan brought up Leona Lewis and Adam, but he basically just kept talking about Adam.

He said that he was one of the first people to work with Adam, if not the first. (Maybe he worked with him before the tour and then again after?) The DJ asked what that was like, since Adam doesn’t actually have a sound yet, and Ryan said has never seen a label get behind a debut artist like this. He said Adam has such a clear vision of himself and his sound, and the label said to just listen to what Adam wants. He mentioned glam rock, so I don’t think it will sound like the other stuff Ryan has produced. I think he mentioned something about Depeche Mode. There was more, but I kept getting interrupted. I’ll let you guys know if/when the interview gets posted online.

Hopefully the station will put out a podcast of this interview.

Anyone else hear it?

Me, too. I try not to do illegal downloads because….well, you know…it’s illegal (and not right IMO), lol, but I have downloaded Crawl Through Fire twice only to have it disappear and not be able to use the download anymore. I sure would like to have a legal copy so that wouldn’t happen anymore.

Considering the artists in the Zodiac Show, including Lady GaGa and the Pussycat Dolls (and Adam), I wouldn’t be at all surprised if someone picked the video up. Tribeca might be more likely, I think. They go really artsy and indie.

ETA: GaGa is playing in Boston in December. I wasn’t going to go, but three co-workers are, so I will, too (oh, if Adam was touring instead of Kid Cudi, yawn), and will report back.

Oh my, I hope this is true! From the initial press release from 19/RCA it was evident that they were ecstatic to sign Adam and knew they had someone very special. The statements from Simon Fuller in the Details article just seem to reiterate that thought.

Okay, she might not be the most…er…stable person, but she has a good track record (e.g., Lonestar), is enthusiastic, and loves Adam. So she is okay in my book. I wonder what would happen if she went to see Zodiac Show with Alisan Porter and Ferras? Wow. That would be something else.

ETA: Yesterday’s question for Adam was better (his alcoholic beverage of choice). And I also enjoyed learning his choice of guyliner. I bet he used a lot of guyliner for the Zodiac Show. And tons and tons of glitter, as we know.

Of All producers, I can’t believe the label sent Adam to Ryan for glamrock. Tedder hasn’t done anything critically acclaimed, other than pop commercial songies. I would have sent Adam to Butch Vig or Beau Hill who produced for Ratt.

I was relieved when Adam put some studio time with Benton to produce his music(or his friends).
I think Adam should write a book after all this is over just to get an idea of how it all went down. Nobody really knows…. not even Adam I think.

BTW, Kara HAS written some good stuff (for Christina Aguilera, for example). I like Ryan Tedder, but I don’t see how his style jibes with Adam’s. He and Kris have worked together and that seems like it would be a better pairing. I like One Republic but I wouldn’t call it EDGY. OTOH, Adam’s version of Come Home is beautiful (Upright Cabaret). Adam said there would be at least one introspective song (ballad) on the album, so maybe that is the one.

ETA: Didn’t Pink co-write a song for Adam, or am I mistaken (taken from his EW interview)?

Yeah, I know they’ve both written some good stuff.

But I know a bunch of songwriters, and I’m a sometime lyricist myself. And, honestly, it’s just very hard for me to see how people can be good writers in every single danged genre that exists, which is the the way they seem to treat Tedder and DioGuardi, among others. There have got to be genres that just aren’t organic enough to you or that you just don’t like or care about enough to be anything but a *pure* hack in. And I think we see that in some of their work, frankly.

It *is* an art and a craft. And nobody can be an all-around generalist in the way they try to make these people be, in my opinion. And since there is so much money riding on the Idols’ debut albums, *and* they have to be finished so quickly, I would think that it would actually make monetary sense to bring in people who are more specialized in some of the genres to do some songs, though I suppose the fact that they have these folks under contract makes it cheaper upfront. Could often be penny wise and pound foolish, though, if you ask me.

I bought Details today, and also found the InStyle with his last page article as well. All in all, a productive magazine shopping trip!

Seems weird that a tweet from someone in Spain about Adam’s first single would be true and it just happens to be the same song that was the subject of a hoax yesterday on Adam Official.

Also, Lyndsey Parker couldn’t talk about the 4th song she heard, wouldn’t even give us a title. Thinking that’s probably the single. If it is, it makes no sense that if it’s the Pink/Max Martin song, since EW already discussed this song in the EW Photo essay.

As far as it being confirmed…um..that seems to happen alot with Adam and then it turns out to be bogus, just saying.

But who knows?

I see what you’re saying saga, but whereby there might be a need to cross-promote The Script (as a UK band not well known here), there really isn’t a need to cross-promote P!nk. She’s already a star. But I’m not sure what to think about the rumour either.

A good lyricist is a good lyricist.
Melody is melody.
Solid structure is solid.
It’s the producers job to utilize his musicians and wank it into something resembling a genre, and Adam’s album has an entire assemblage of some of the most successful and genre specific people ever brought together for one project.

This is off topic for here anyway, but I am not worried in the least about poor writing being a problem for this album.

I know that pink doesn’t need promotion in the same way as the script does but the same was true for Chris Cornell right? He just happened to have been recently signed to RCA and they wanted to make him happy (or that’s the impression I’ve gotten). Maybe they have some reason they want to make Pink and Max Martin happy…

No matter what single they pick for Adam — it will spawn a 10,000 comment thread with 1,000+ negative posts. Not every one is going to like what is picked.

That said — the Pink song isn’t a cover because it was never released. I betting on one of the RedOne tracks for the single or Greg Wells. No info — just a guess.

I would think Pink would be popular, no? Isn’t that one of Adam’s favorite singers? And she and he just worked together on a song of hers. Why is everyone about upset about Pink? I am not a particular fan of hers, but man, she is HUUUGE. What am I missing here?

Not worried about Adam’s music, either (but I love TfM, so…I even like Want, which is, I realize, frightening, simply b/c he is singing it, b/c the song sucks, and NoBo isn’t much better). I trust that his voice will be amazing on every damn track, as it was on Idol, even if I didn’t love the song (e.g., PTFM).

See, now this is why I’m confident that I’ll like at least some of the songs on the album- each time I see Crawl Thru Fire I get a huge grin on my face at his sheer brilliance- and the fact that he co-wrote the song means he’s capable of some cool sh*t.

If he’s getting as much creative freedom as it SEEMS he is, the album should be, at the very worst-case scenario, very much ALIVE and fun.

At the very best… well, I don’t wanna get myself too excited or to jinx him, so I’ll keep it to myself for now…

A good lyricist is a good lyricist.
Melody is melody.
Solid structure is solid.

Yeah, it’s certainly true that anybody practiced in certain skills can do competent hack work that fits any genre in a really basic way.

But really good songwriting, stuff that stands the test of time, stuff that feels real instead of phony like most of what I hear on these early Idol recordings …. not so much.

So, yeah, he’ll get competent hack work, in a lot of this. I would rather have more than that, is all!

The pink issue is that the song is a left over from one of her records that Max Martin produced if I recall correctly. It didn’t make the album cut and was thought to be used as a b side for one of her future releases… I mean, it might be good, they might even have improved it, but that just smells like The Script/Kris and Cook/Cornell. Not sure they are picking that single because it is the best…

Ryan Tedder was interviewed by a San Diego station. Reported on IdolForums_Adamlambert by a fan who heard the interview. I haven’t heard any audio yet. But the station put out a lot of PodCasts so it may show up. Note: I have not heard this interview.

So Adam has 3 songs in the top 100 Pop, without an “official” single released. For some reason, I find this funny! (especially because of “Want” being in the top 100-the song we told everyone NOT to buy!)

Q3- where do you get the itunes list that go past the top100?

Very unlikely that the Pink song is the single — on the Pink fansites they say it is a Power Ballad about Pink breaking up with her husband Carey Hart . If this is true, it doesn’t seem like what they would pick.

Fans claim it is a great song but that Pink and Cary got back together and she didn’t want to record it for personal reasons. She did separate from Cary and they did start dating again in March 2009, so the story makes sense.

The P!nk song did not make the album cut because it was of a personal nature that could have upset a personal relationship, not because it sucked.
I will wait until I hear the songs- all of the songs- before I proclaim that they suck, or were written by hacks, or that all Adam cares about is how they sound with glitter.

I thought that the statistic was the he sold 10,000 last week, for a total of 63,000 since it was released.

I love the Zodiac show and would love to get this on DVD. I love the petulant Adam clip where he talks about how he has complete control of how he appears on stage. The following scenes shows that there are some great people who guide him away from some of his whacked out ideas.

I would bet that similiar things occured during the production of FYE.

There’s a difference between writing the lyrics and writing the song. This pink song may well be the track Adam recorded. The composition of a song(arrangement, melody etc.) resides on a different layer most of the time , depending which came first. Adam easily could plug in a different theme. It could simply be a matter of it being one of several songs in consideration for the single.

He didn’t really dispel it. I mean he kind of did, but he kind of didn’t. He just said that the single hadn’t been decided, so while Strut would be on the album, they’re not saying…yet, as to whether it, or anothe song, would be the single. That were going to finish recording (he still had a few days yet at that time) and then after all of the masters were done, sit down with the label and decide.

I’m not saying it will be Strut, I’m just saying that no, it has not been definitely taken out of the running by Adam. The Twitter was misleading saying he said it wouldn’t be the single. His in-person interview did not close the door at all to Strut. It could very well not be, no one knows at this time. I think it sounds cool, despite the Kara part of it.

ITA. I think it’s a pretty solid bet. As much as radio is not what it used to be, it matters in how big someone gets and Adam is destined to be huge, so they’ve got to get it right.

I am in no way arguing with your premise here and probably would concur…but you are so very sure of the statement that I wonder what “inside” knowledge you have with the workings of 19 and their artists. I can’t for the life of me think that Annie Lennox doesn’t have the majority of control on one of her albums…you don’t take that kind of “star power” and let the little bald guys in suits lead her by the nose.

Lyndsey was told not to talk about a certain Adam song. EW mentions a handful of songs and so does Cavallo and Rollingstone. If it was one of the songs mentioned by one of the aforementioned publications why wouldn’t they let her talk about it as well?

I do NOT in any way, shape, or form think they will pick a weak track (if there are any) to debut. At the AMA’s? Srsly? That makes no sense. You don’t lead with a weak track (hola, 19 and LLWD, talking to YOU), you take something that fits the artist and you burn it up. Part of Cook’s problem was that RCA released LO as the 1st single. I mean, it’s okay, but there are so many better tracks. THEN they put out (after several months) CBTM, which is nearly the same song! So, um, no, that’s not how you do it, and I hope RCA learned their lesson (not that I think there are any duds on Adam’s album).

The chart ranking are fun but what matters is the units sold.

Since iTunes has a lot of exclusives, the market share split between iTunes and Amazon by artist varies so much, and the number of digital tracks sold each week varies so much, chart rank just gives an idea of what is doing well and what is not.

Plus, it’s fun for number junkies like me!

Just curious how do your come to that conclusion when this is what Ryan Tedder reportedly stated:

Ryan said has never seen a label get behind a debut artist like this. He said Adam has such a clear vision of himself and his sound, and the label said to just listen to what Adam wants.

That statement, (MHO, says that they have confidence in Adam’s instincts of how he wants his music and vocals to be recorded. Right at this moment a lot of people (inculding Adam I would wager) are brain storming over the track list and working together on this as they all seem to be on board with Adam’s mission statement.

Plus, it’s fun for number junkies like me!

It was good to see him in the Top 10. I guess this means that the bump from the fans and internet junkies has played out and its time to trigger the next wave. I don’t see a lot of radio play, but I guess that should not be expected since the song is tied to a movie. The buzz is nice and it has served its purpose. It’s paving the way to FYE. TFM does have to fade into the sunset a bit to allow for the first single to release from his album.

Now, I agree…you get the TfM hoopla w/ the movie opening (Red Carpet, OMFG) and then we morph into the new single. I don’t want to wait for another few weeks, but that is just a reality, I fear. But cover art…there is no reason for RCA to be holding out on us. At least we can enjoy looking at him in Details and next month in Elle.

I would love to see Adam do something like Zodiac show for the AMAs, but I don’t want him labeled as Lord Gaga. I hope they take that into consideration when they pick his single.

Um, I watched this for the first time this week and I have to say I am underwhelmed. I agree it’s cutesie and I didn’t think the music was all that good.

But then again, I’m a Dexter kind of gal who loves the OTT, edgy Adam Lambert.

Btw, after watching it, I would have to say I disagree with folks who think Adam would be a good fit for the show. I’ll have to watch again to see if it’ll change my mind.

If Ryan Tedder said Adam had full control of his album he’s full of shit. No 19 artist has that.

Just curious how do your come to that conclusion when this is what Ryan Tedder reportedly stated:

Ryan said has never seen a label get behind a debut artist like this. He said Adam has such a clear vision of himself and his sound, and the label said to just listen to what Adam wants.

Like how TfM definitely was NOT going to be on the album. Oh wait it is as maybe a bonus track…oh wait, maybe as a regular track…Oh wait now the real single’s release has been pushed out. And maybe that could be a business decision Adam was okay with, or maybe not. We have no idea, but this surely wasn’t the original plan. Now maybe not original plan because they, including Adam thought of a better one, or maybe it was better for Sony and Adam was involved in making sure it was.

Eh, who knows. But Ryan Tedder is not in the machine of 19 or Sony. He has an outsiders view of it, not completely an outsider, but not really in it either. So grain of salt to anything that Ryan, or even Adam, says about how much control Adam has. Adam isn’t stupid, after all.

I have to agree with you. When I first heard about Adam appearing on Glee I couldn’t imagine the connection. It seems too Disney to me and not a good fit for Adam at all. JMO

I arriverd here so late today. There are 4 articles in the Headlines and the two other Adam threads…I don’t know where to begin! I love that mj put the picture of Adam up where he’s describing wanting to wear the ‘flaming headdress’! On Adam on Glee – why the hell not? It’s very popular, it’s campy, OTT, pure goofiness. He could be Kurt’s role model. Anything that increases his visibility is good. Think about it. Glee songs just knocked Adam from #10 to #11 on iTunes. Who’s buying those Glee songs? People watching the show. It could work, people, it could work.

As opposed to the cutting edge American Idol show. Adam would do FINE on Glee, just like he did fine in Brigadoon or Wicked. It’s what acting is about, and Adam has been a part of musical theatre since he was 10 until he was about 27. Yes he was doing other stuff after a certain age in his 20s, but he was earning his rent by doing Broadway shows and of course transitioning to the “family friendly,” cheesefest that is AI. So not like Zodiac and that part of Adam, makes him a bad fit for Glee. And not like he can’t do other, more Zodiac shows and also explore that part of his personality and be darker, edgier that way…as well.

I’ve never seen this video before, It was new to me.

And it was posted in this morning’s headlines thread as if it were something brand new.

Or, at least, I assumed it was new because I’ve asked folks to please keep the news in the headlines fresh.

It IS possible that Ryan Tedder isn’t full of it. But I doubt it. IF the album fails (which I don’t expect) we’ll find out from Adam that he had very little say in things. 19 rarely gives their artists control.

Both true. But Adam has been distancing himself from AI artistically ever since he left the show. I’d rather see him be goofy in something like SNL– at least that has some edge to it.

I have to reiterate, I made my judgment after seeing one episode of Glee. It looked pretty silly and didn’t hold my attention. I thought the music was totally karaoke. Adam’s isn’t really into karaoke, is he?
I may change my opinion after seeinga couple more episodes. I’ve been known to have an open mind every now and again…

TFM has done very well making it to #9 on itunes with mostly just the internet fanbase. It will probably sink now for a while. But once the MV premieres in front of TII and starts getting radio play I expect it will climb the charts again and might very well make it higher than #9 next time.

And I do expect it to get radio play just like the Celine Dion and Aeorsmith songs did. No reason at all for it not to, especially since it will be promoted by the movie company. It could very well chart again after the movie opens. Don’t think it is over yet.

Since I am feeling very positive about things today, I will go as far as saying if it gets an academy award nomination per the previous post were someone was predicting nominations, it could climb the charts again after that. I believe at some point and time it will hit 1 or 2.

I think Adam can do everything. He can be in the Zodiac Show, he can be on Idol, he can be the “black swan” on the 2012 video, AND…he could be on Glee!

It’s a very silly show, but I could still see him do something amusing or interesting. IF he were, say, Sue’s long-lost son (HEY, PRODUCERS OF GLEE, HOW DO I GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU?), it could get VERY snarky and that would be amazing. Glee gets seen by millions of viewers every week; I’m good with that. Of COURSE I want him to be on SNL–who wouldn’t–but he can be involved with all sorts of entertainment and it can all be different and interesting. No, I don’t want him to be, say, the Glee Club Director, but when Kristin Chenowith was on, it was pretty amusing (she was an alcoholic ex-classmate of Will, the band director–very amusing but not stupid, IMO). So he COULD be on and it could be interesting.

I really want him on Flash Forward, but I’m not sure that’s going to work out. As far as Glee, I know Lea Michelle, who plays Rachel (lead girl), wants to duet with him, but unless he plays her odd uncle, I can’t see it working. She oozes perkiness (I am not a fan) and it wouldn’t be fun or funny, IMO. He needs to play some bizarre character–doppleganger of Adam Lambert–and then it would be interesting.

In a lesser way, it’s like Bjà ¶rk’s “Dancer In The Dark,” which was a musical, but really it was depressing as hell. Plus Glee’s demos kick ass, very young and hip. Which is why Fox renewed it so early, despite not the best overall ratings. That and it sells a ton and makes tons of money on iTunes. So yeah, Adam being on it, would not be goofy and dorky, but kind of cool and cult and good exposure to a very young, iTunes buying, audience.

I am going to TII, and now I think I have to go to 2012. I wasn’t sure TfM was actually going to be in the movie (over the credits?), but if it is, of COURSE I have to go to it. Where is the billboard in Boston (I assume in Boston). Must go see it.

BTW, I bought Details at CVS on Newbury Street. Very surreal. The magazines are at the back of the store and there were four of them. CVS!!! I thought about getting a 2nd one; it might be a collectors item someday.

That Zodiac Finale video is so cool. And note that whenever Adam sings, YOU CAN HEAR HIM CLEARLY, whether or not he’s soloing. Must have been a very, very cool show (sad it was a memorial, tho). Awesome, glittery dude.

Wondered what was the strategy behind GaGa coming late with her offer of an existing song she thought was right for Adam. Did she want to offer last? So it would be sure and be considered, no waiting because everything done? Show her clout? The song existed, she could have offered long ago.

As far as Glee, I don’t see it as subversive, I see it as silly and sometimes fun (well, Sue can be subversive). But if Adam came on and played some wicked type of character (he and Sue could definitely go mano y mano), THEN I would like to see him on there. His “Wicked” days are over (as are Kristin Chenowith’s.

Ha! I actually don’t like the show personally, but I don’t deny that it has done very well with the right, young, demographics, 18-34 and 18-49. And that it is a cult classic on the web right now. And to give it a futher Adam tie, Rolling Stone did a recent review of the show and talked about it’s subversive darkness and bleakness. For RS and me, part of that was not actually liking any character on the show. I would link to the review of the show, but can’t find it right now. But yeah, despite my general meh to the show, it wouldn’t be horrible for Adam to actually be on it. Certainly not as completely counter to who the Zodiac Adam is.

Larry Flick has a morning show on the gay channel for Sirius. He was a music editor/critic for Billboard, I believe, before becoming a dj and exec producer.

Kara was on his show every week during the AI season giving her take on the show. Some pretty funny stuff’ ¦Kara was much more likable during these early morning calls with her good friend.

Melinda Doolittle was on this week. They loved her. ï Å 

I’m sure they will play TFM, not only on this show but on the Pop channel.

Although this song “Time For Miracles” isn’t scheduled for inclusion on Adam Lambert’s debut album “For Your Entertainment” (due Nov. 23), it is the first single from the soundtrack of the upcoming film “2012″ and it’s available in the iTunes store. Every great diaster movie needs an emotional power balled to play when the final credits start to roll (think Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” from Armageddon), and this selection fits the bill perfectly. Even though this isn’t Adam’s “official” first single, I think it’s incredibly strong and I wouldn’t be surprised if it races up the singles chart, whether the record label promotes it or not. I was curious though about the ITunes pass. Does that work like a presale? Will he have 5 months worth of sales under his belt once they release it in a couple of weeks or have they been selling it all along?

Well, to be fair, the entry was posted by Lee Chesnut (whoever that is), not Ryan. Not that Ryan is or isn’t a tool. I actually have no opinion either way.

Isn’t it possible that they are re-thinking the “first single” choice since Adam was invited to PERFORM at the AMA’s, and they are looking at all the tracks to see which one would lend itself to the best “performance”? I assume that, if it’s one of the somewhat OTT numbers, they would have to figure out what would be involved in choreography, etc. Especially given the time constraints between now and the award ceremonies.

And Adam was saying in some AMA interviews how he wanted to do it up right. Real extravaganza. Well, quiet night. I have a feeling it will be a BIG DAY tomorrow. I will check in when I can. Ryan…lol. I do think he likes Adam a lot, but he can’t show too much man-love (yet).

I have now listened to TfM approx 100 times (I am not kidding, I listened to it about 8x just on my way home, b/c I walk 35 minutes), and I really like it more and more. I know there won’t be any more songs like that on the album, and I really don’t want it to take the 12th spot on the album (so “bonus track” is good w/ me). I honestly don’t think there will be a bad song on the whole album, BUT I do think you want to think carefully about which one you choose (tho THIS careful?). It will be used to brand Adam, and I think you want something that is a bit edgy but not too much. I still think a song like Strut would work…

I might need to buy WLGTDWIT (lol). But, in the meantime:

Time for Miracles is down to #10 pop (damn you,. Gleeeee!) and #11 ITunes (still, damn you, Glee!). Glee has at least 8 songs on the pop chart. Go figure. Kris’s LLWD is at 122 on the iTunes chart and #49 pop.

I think Adam is gonna SMASH it once we know what the song TBD is from FYE. Oh, Zodiacable is heesterical.

On Adam on Glee ‘“ why the hell not? It’s very popular, it’s campy, OTT, pure goofiness. He could be Kurt’s role model. Anything that increases his visibility is good. Think about it. Glee songs just knocked Adam from #10 to #11 on iTunes. Who’s buying those Glee songs? People watching the show. It could work, people, it could work.

ITA – I still think Adam and Glee would be a good fit. The show is definitely not Disney imo – it sure isn’t HSM, for instance. Has a little more edge, dark humor, etc. And Adam can be a really goofy, fun guy, too – it’s not all about flaming headdresses and munching on sexy models (just saw the Details vid – holy moly!) So I think it will work, and be great for the exposure.

isn’t it though? i feel like i can see his eyes now which makes it more moving somehow. in other videos and pictures his eyes just lock in and i felt like that was missing before. (michelle collins said something to that effect too).

Thanks for posting the HD Time For Miracles, wow, just wow seeing it in HD is definitely an experience. The CGI looks way better. Not gonna lie that it is too bad he’s so large that you can barely see the special effects happening on screen.

This is OT but just found an article in Indonesian tabloid about Adam and Lady Gaga collaboration.
It’s funny because in the article Adam said that there’s nothing going on between them. The tabloid were basically saying that at first people thought they have some kind of love connection. Which people?!

I have to say that I just showed my mom the TFM video (that I do have access to), and after the first verse she just looked up at me and said, “what a beautiful voice”, and in the end she said she thought it was beautiful, that he looked beautiful and she was sure that he’ll win over millions of fans through this video… basically what we all have been thinking since the season, but I was really thrilled that she said it, she seldom gets excited about artists, and both of my parents think I’m a raving lunatic when it comes to Adam.
Now I just have to work on Dad…

Oh, we just had a Krispy Cream fundraiser at our schools, so the boxes were everywhere at work yesterday-everyone “bought and brought” them with the purpose of fattening up their co-workers. Maybe that happened to Adam too. Maybe one of the songwriters he worked with-I suspect Lady Gaga- brought some to the recording session. If she and Adam are dating and/or touring together, she wouldn’t want him to look better than she does.

Well considering he hasn’t gotten any real Radio play (4 hits) or done the talk show circuit to promote the song, and the video is up with over 1/2 million hits on Myspace, I think it is not too bad. We will see when promo’s come out next week starting with the MJ’s “This is It”.

When he’s walking down the street and all the people are frantically dashing by him and bashing into him, if you can tear your eyes away from him, check out what else is going on. Cars are nonchalantly driving down the street (not a care in the world). I swear there is some out-of-focus dude in a red-shirt opening the door of the white car right behind Adam. And there are a bunch of dudes on the other side of the street lounging about watching the action. It’s like he’s on the side-walk of doom and the rest of the world isn’t going to bother. The world is ending, no point in losing your sh!t. Adam needs to go hang with the chill people on the other side of the street so that he can sing in peace.

LOL. It reminds me of watching the directors commentary for an episode of Burn Notice. They blow up this car by the side of the freeway and there are flames shooting 40 feet in the air. When he got the prints from that day of filming, he was initially annoyed because there are cars driving by without even slowing down on the freeway and he thinks “that would never happen in real life”. Then he realizes that they didn’t close the freeway that day and that really did happen in real life. Miami drivers just aren’t going to be phased by cars blowing up. Wherever they filmed Adam’s video, they too must be used to film shoots.

Well considering he hasn’t gotten any real Radio play (4 hits) or done the talk show circuit to promote the song, and the video is up with over 1/2 million hits on Myspace, I think it is not too bad. We will see when promo’s come out next week starting with the MJ’s ‘This is It’ .

I think it’s a possibility too- especially seeing how he is going up and down on Amazon. Jay Z was also at #1 a couple of weeks ago before going down to 11 and now he is heading back up. It’ll be really interesting to see what TII does for him.

Also, check out how many times the same extras run past him (e.g. the obvious ones like the girl in the striped shirt and the woman in sunglasses). That always happens in movies. I remember in a pivotal crowd scene in one of my favourite movies, the same damn woman bumps into the main couple three times!!!!! Woman, get a life!

Exactly. TFM is first and foremost for the movie, not for Adam, so the movie is running most of the promo push (as in, whether to push it to stations to play it, have Adam push it, etc.) The fact that that isn’t really happening (which makes sense, since Adam has other songs coming up, and movie soundtrack songs are not exactly the first choice for lots of radio play these days) would explain the position on itunes.

Next week’s TII showing of the mv should cause another surge in sales, I’m hoping. Until then, not many people know about it (except us ) because it’s not being marketed as “Adam’s first single” by RCA, etc.

I don’t think the rooftop scene is necessarily supposed to be concurrent with the street scenes. His whole outfit is different, not just the gloves. His hands do look too clean though. The street scenes are better, I think.

I tried to rip an mp3 from the HD video and vidtomp3.com tells me the URL is invalid. Has youtube blocked them? I really want the shorter version of the song; I like it even better than the itunes version. It needs a radio edit I think. If they even care about radio, that is. The video doesn’t look like they spent a ton of money on it.

Since the single is rumored to be chosen today, I doubt will get a name leak before next week. But an album cover is in the realm of possibilities I think.

Friday has been usually a leak day over the past few weeks, so I hope the trend holds.

I am very surprised by TFM sales. Its still in the top of itunes without airplay, and its been 4 days already. I though sales would decrease after the fans had purchased in the first two days, but this decrease is still very slow and soft.

I dont know how other songs from idol did, but I was under the impression that LLWD peaked and fell faster (NOT fanwarring, only comparing because its the only recent song from idol in similar circumstances available). With the TII promo, TFM may have another strong week of sales next week.

Ha! Colbert does love singing with his guests and he has a pretty good voice — I could see this happening.

Plus the comedic elements would be terrific. Maybe stephen could come out dressed like Adam, but then Adam comes out in a conservative suit and tie. Or, Stephen does his usual, “I’m going to prove I’m better, shtick,” and they have a sing off. Adam could sing a line from a song and then Stephen echoes him. Do this two or three times with Colbert holding his own. Then on the last round Adam goes BSC riffing and rock wailing. Stephen sardonically looks to the camera and says, “well thanks for coming, that’s all the time we have…”

Could be.

I think the calculation is probably different for a brand-new artist whose two singles would be in utterly different styles, though, and who’s going to premiere the second as his first “real” song on a big tv show.

Maybe that calculation’s wrong. But I think they probably want to let this song have a couple of very strong weeks before they bring something else into the mix, since he’s just starting out.

With the BEPs, they pretty much know at this point that they’re on a hot streak and people will continue to buy, but they’re still just sending out messages about Adam yet, and I would think that the clearer message would be — “Wow, his first single was strong for x whole weeks, and it wasn’t even in the main style he’ll be pursuing or actually promoted as *him*!! Wow, see how great he is!” … and only *then* come out with single number two — more representative of the ‘real” current Adam, probably — and have a new message to the competition to tout when *that* one charts high for some additional weeks….

That would be my thinking, anyway. Obviously there are different ways to do these things. I just think that, for somebody new who has everything to prove, you want as many weeks as possible with something good to show, so you can tout that longevity factor, rather than mixing your message with more than one good thing happening in the same week …. (especially for Idols, who are renowned for fast starts and quick fades, in many cases … stringing out your successes for a longer time period would be better pr, to me.)

Doesn’t seem analogous to the BEPs to me at all, since they’re not having to prove anything at this point.

And — cool that the Zodiac movie will give him still *more* Adam-doesn’t-have-to-pay-for-it publicity weeks — and to yet another different audience! For his own RCA/19 pr people, Adam is really the gift that keeps on giving!

Yes, I think this is very good, indeed!

Other than the original release on itunes, TFM hasn’t really gotten major attention or press, per se, and is likely just waiting till TII comes out to get that additional PR.

In idol-land, my impression is that those initial sales are mostly idol fans buying, and, with this being treated differently from an Adam official single, and no subsequent interviews or radio play to boost awareness, you’d expect it to fall quickly after the first few days. That it hasn’t is really really good. Hopefully it will still stay pretty high until next week.

Yes absolutely. Closing streets is expensive and this vid was obviously made on a budget. But thankfully, only fans of the vid will hopefully bother to watch it enough times to notice the discontinuities, and when they do they won’t care.

I am more than surprised that Time for Miracles is still selling at this time.

Based on all the information we have had from long time idol watchers, if a song doesn’t bolt to number 1 right out of the blocks (per the Davids last year) then it is definitely a failure and it has proven that Adam doesn’t have much of a fan base.

Also, people seem to think that Adam has screwed it for himself by appearing with a naked woman in a print ad and many of the few fans he has are totally offended by this on all kinds of levels. And, obviously, the video used to promote this song is so full of visual errors that it isn’t a good representation of Adam and his vocal ability.

And, now we are re-introduced to how crazy Adam is because he envisions himself entertaining us in a flaming headress and we know how totally ridiculous all his live performances are and that isn’t good for his image…apparently a genuine singer just sings.

So, I am pretty sure that his song will slippery slide its way right off the charts…and because TfM has had such a poor showing and hasn’t stayed in the top 10 then his “first” single is doomed and there is absolutely no hope for “For Your Entertainment” (even though I am starting to get used to the name and don’t grimace every time I hear it…in fact if he has a chance to release the single that the name comes from I may actually start [gasp] liking the title).

The new HD TfM video is beautifully clear, glitches and all. Has anyone else thought that in the video he looks like a dark angel similar to the Wim Wenders film “Wings of Desire”/”City of Angels” (U.S. remake with Nick Cage)? In the new HD version the two clearly different outfits show two different points of view of Adam/Dark Angel: perhaps the grief over the loss of human lives vs. the hope on the rooftop as the sun rises points of view? Don’t know if that made any sense. Guess you’d have to know the films, but anyway, in those films the angels wear black clothes also and just walk around watching over mankind.

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that if fire is used, it will be set well away from Adam and within controlled conditions in place to require minimal insurance costs.

Aw, Sunn, you are being too damn practical. Us Adam devotees are way beyond safe and mundane. We are hyperbolic and way OTT…we don’t give a damn if the whole auditorium burns up…we just want to see our BB (god I hate that term) light up the LA sky (apparently litterally).

I can’t believe people are picking up so many discrepancies in the vid. I’ve been watching this since it came out and had not noticed one thing, and I have watched quite a few times throughout the day.

The most memorable inconsistancy for me was Chariots of Fire. The guy who ran/won the race that the whole movie was about (ok, it was a long time ago, gimme a break, vague on details) had a note in his hand while running the race. As they showed him running over the finish line, he threw his hands up over his head…. no note.

Seriously, I do hope Adam has a chance to put on (within common sense reason) the 4 minute show of his young lifetime. This is an opportunity that, I don’t think, has been bestowed on any NEWBIE for the 30 years of the program and it would be tough to watch him crash and burn. But then, it is Adam, and with just getting the invitation there must be more buzz for this guy then has been seen in a long, long time. Is it November yet?

It is I believe the first time it’s happened to someone without a even a first single out. It’s a great honor and at the same time HUUUUGE pressure on bb (sorry Tess ). He will have to put on a showing that justifies such a privilege, so I hope they go into rehearsals soon.

Below is Q3′s summary of Adam events. I don’t think the single will be release during TII engagement, so there are two slots when Adam’s first album single can be released: today or the Friday after TII engagement (11/13, a black Friday btw).

I think 11/13 is more likely. If that’s the case, there are only 10 days between the single and the album. RCA is sacrificing the first single charting opportunity if they release the single that late, because some people who like the single performance in AMA will go directly to the album rather than buying the single.

Kris’ album will drop 7 weeks after LLWD debut. Comparing Jive and RCA strategy, it seems RCA equalizes AMA performance to 6 weeks radio play.

Anyone know the audience impact of LLWD spins so far? I think it’s much larger than 12.2 million.

But TV and radio are two different media and have different impact on music buying decision. I’m not an expert to tell which one is better.

Ok. Let’s put it in perspective. We’ve seen him, most recently, performing a whole season on AI, plus the summer tour.

Not only did he enter said tour with pretty crazy high expectations to begin with, but he ABSOLUTELY BLEW AWAY said expectations! The critics almost unanimously agreed, fans loved him, he converted new fans along the way, etc. He is such an amazing live performer, I cannot imagine him doing anything less than completely killing it on the AMA stage.

And he’ll be entering it without a lot of people knowing much about him – maybe they’ve heard his name, but I doubt many of them saw him on tour, like all us die-hards, so to many of them it will be the first time getting to really experience “The Adam”.

Do we know if the 2012 music vid will be shown at all the MJ airings, or just the premiere?

I just want to say that the scenes of street normalcy in the TfM video that everyone is referring to as due to budget considerations occur AFTER or very near when we see the movie scenes where people emerge after the disaster and so the video concept might have been to equate the return to a post-apocalypse world in both the video and the movie.

I’m not trying to ruin anyone’s discontinuity fun so carry on.

It bothers me that he sings “It’s late at night, and I can’t sleep” while it appears to be daytime – very grating since they jump all over the place between day and night shots – WHY WHY WHY not, at least have this line delivered in the dark????

Also, the constantly changing middle part (I freakin LOVE the strands coming down and his EYES peaking through – HOT! – plain middle part…not so much)… jumping back and forth – distracting.

And, he’s touching the police car. etc. but his hands (while in “dirty Adam” mode) are very white and spankin clean (mama raised him right, but….)

Oh, and the girl with the overbite that passes him on the left (his right) in the sage dress – she is lit too brightly and reminds me of Yvonne who played Mary Magdaline in JCS – which makes me want to go listen to Adam’s video of him singing as Judas….

In any case, I LOVE HAVING NEW ADAM TO WATCH while he’s singing!!!

OK – not trying to be off topic here, but I had posted this on the other thread which appears to be dead. However, many people seemed to be not familiar with Sweet and curious about Lindsay Parker’s Sweet comparison so, as a Sweet fan, I thought this may be helpful.

For those above interested in seeing what the Sweet influences on Adam might sound like, I would suggest, rather than Ballroom Blitz, the song ‘Action’  which truthfully I have thought for a long time was just begging for Adam to do. Sweet initially performed songs that were written by pro songwriters Nicky Chapman and Mike Chinn, who wrote ‘Ballroom Blitz’ . When Sweet started writing their own songs, Action, Lies In Your Eyes, Fox on the Run, etc. they got less bubblegummy more glammy and rock which I think is a better indication of what Adam might sound like on ‘Music Again’  . Just a guess of course.

As an aside…

Watching these old videos of Sweet makes me remember how pissed I was every damn day that guys would have such beautiful hair and mine was stick straight, oily, and even with “brush rollers and a sit under hairdryer” still looked horrible. Oh well…at least Adam has gorgeous hair as his 6 seconds in the attached video aptly demonstrates.

They were popular when I was a teenager and I remember liking their music, but I wasn’t really aware of their whole persona/performance style. I’ve never thought the dancer in question was Cheeks. He’s the 2nd fire dancer as far as I can tell and is credited by the ZodiacShow as Elijah something or other. Plus I think he has a larger build than Cheeks; check out the torso and chest. Also is there any evidence anywhere else of Cheeks being a dancer – the Zodiac peeps are pros and do not hire “friends of performers” just because. If they were pushovers, Adam would have gotten his mop hair and flaming headdress.

Based on all the information we have had from long time idol watchers, if a song doesn’t bolt to number 1 right out of the blocks (per the Davids last year) then it is definitely a failure and it has proven that Adam doesn’t have much of a fan base.

There’s no question that Mr. Lambert is a failure. I’m thinking of revising my estimate of his album sales (200,000 in the US) downward.

Interesting. I was one of those people not terribly familiar with Sweet when I read their name in Lyndsey’s article. I have since familiarized myself with the band. Action was one of the songs I sampled.

In her article Lyndsey says:

A falsetto gang chorus like something off a lost Sweet outtakes album

From that I took that Adam’s vocal style in Music Again was similar to of Sweets’s, not necessarily the musical style of the song. She also says:

“This sounds like the Darkness, if the Darkness were remixed.”

The Darkness are far more glam than the Sweet imo, in the classic sense of glam. With her saying it sounds like the Darkness remixed, I took the song to be Glam rock, with heavy guitars, as was usual for The Darkness, and an electro beat. That reminded me of the song The Bitter End by Placebo:

Every time I think of him making his big splash on an awards show I recall the huge launches to careers these types of perfomances have given people in the past by placing them front and center in the public consciousness in a way that no slow build-up on radio could ever do. An example that always somes to mind is [disclaimer: I am in NO WAY comparing these two in any way except as breakout stars] Ricky Martin at the Grammies singing ‘Cup of Life’. Before that, if we had heard of him at all, it was as a Latin American star and he wasn’t well known in the US. However, he exploded onto that stage with shaking hips the likes of which we hadn’t seen outside the confines of our bedrooms (at least mine, I don’t know how boring y’all are…), and troups of dancers, and spectacle… well, anyway, maybe just go see if it’s on YT. After that, he became an overnight mega-star. He’s faded away now, but at the time he was a gargantuan pop culture icon. I’m hoping Adam makes a similar splash (though, of course, I hope his flame doesn’t die out as RM’s has…).

Well I am not sure either, but IMHO, as great as Adam is when being heard, he brings a whole different level to the game when you see him visually, so I am going to say for Adam’s case, being seen on TV is going to be better for him!

No, no. That’s not the scene we are talking about. It’s the bump-scene. It occurs while inter-spliced with the movie imagery of the volcano (or something like that) throwing huge balls of flaming rock around. Just before they move into the part where the earthquake is chasing them in the limo/airplane. Just before the bump-segment starts, there is a beautifully synched rock ball hitting the ground (they really did synch some of the devastation well with the music). We are far from normalcy at this point. Dudes on the other side of the street are just being pragmatic. World’s being destroyed, might as well just relax and chill. There is nowhere to run to. Might as well watch Adam sing while they wait death.

Given the thoroughly diverse types of songs/ venues/ audiences he has played to I think Adam has always done a remarkable job of giving each performance just enough OTT oomph. He sometimes gives just a wee tad too much initially so that at the beginning of the performance they are a bit WTF, but by halfway through when he hits his stride they are WOW, and by the time he finishes in full Adam glory they are OMG OMG OMG!!

Remember- he always gives us what we didn’t know we wanted.

The YT website’s downloadable mp4 version of TFM is ipod friendly which makes it small in dimensions. The flash version on the other hand is 35 mb with dimensions of 854×480 (huge!).

I remuxed the video to mp4 format (no quality loss). It probably won’t work on your ipod players but it’s nice to have the pretty in even more HQ format.

My biggest problem with the video? Adam apparently missed the boat.

As best I can tell, he spent way too much time wandering around LA looking for an unscathed Krispy Kreme store … the boats are streaming away and he’s still singing on the rooftop. And now some people are suggesting he’s too overweight to swim for it … sads.

Beside all the zodiac numbers (love ‘em) one of my favorite moments is on AI8 after Adam’s Feeling Good performance with that long glorious end note, the camera moves to the judges table to Randy and Kara. The look on their faces is priceless, their jaws dropped and a look of ‘“ I can’t believe he just did that. Makes me chuckle each time I watch it.

My biggest problem with the video? Adam apparently missed the boat.

As best I can tell, he spent way too much time wandering around LA looking for an unscathed Krispy Kreme store ‘ ¦ the boats are streaming away and he’s still singing on the rooftop. And now some people are suggesting he’s too overweight to swim for it ‘ ¦ sads.

No, no. Don’t be sad. I think those boats are some kind of timeshare scam. Once they get you on there, they are going to make you buy all sorts of condos and thighmasters and goodness knows what.

Adam is fine walking around the post apocolyptic world with the skateboarders. Clearly, the entire end of the world thing was a sham. Sure, the world needs a splash of paint and some duct tape, but it will be fine. He was right to spend his time crooning. Meanwhile, those poor folks on the boat don’t even have donuts to comfort them…

Just before the bump-segment starts, there is a beautifully synched rock ball hitting the ground (they really did synch some of the devastation well with the music).

In keeping with the direction this thread seems to be taking, I’m off to watch the TfM video once again (sigh) in search of this beautifully synched rock ball – because we know that any and all balls associated with Adam will rock, and will be beautifully synched. And if you don’t believe me, check out his holographic tights in the Zodiac video. How’s that for keeping this on track?

I have heard Adam’s singing style described in many, many ways. Not gonna lie, that’s the first time I’ve heard it called crooning. (The rock wail haters’ heads will explode over that.)

Not to worry…Tess just woke up with a cranky streak this morning and well, hwc was just being his normal cheery self. We have nothing new going on here so we’ve devolved into conjuring up demons and other tangentially related flotsam…in honor of the Zodiac Show, of course.

Actually, I’ll take him in whatever form he materializes, but I do like a spectacle. I thought his Zodiac performance of A Change is Gonna Come, was possibly a little too OTT, but I’m quite fond of CTF. But for the AMAs, I think he needs to tone it down just a bit. Oh, and no 19-inch boots, ‘cuz he doesn’t dance too well in those — they’re more for stomping and rocking out. So, some good dancing boots would work just fine. The boy’s gotta be able to move ‘n’ groove.

I actually agree about the boots, just was asking. He does need to be able to work the stage. I think CTF is great.

Wasn’t he aggravated about being asked to tone down the gay by the producers of the Ten Commandments? I think it was kind of I’ll show you performance even though the producers prob did not see it.

Only thread going, so they just played some different parts of Mad World with Adam singing on General Hospital. I dont know why I get goosebumps when the darn song comes on. Its so neat how the words fit with what is going on with the show.

And on topic- wasn’t Adam simply AWSOME on the Zodiac show… he just has to sell enough records to be able to tour internationally! I would kill to see the kind of grand show he would put up!
