That was really good! the band is getting better each gig and Adam was well, Adam. They changed up some of the songs for the live setting and it werked, LOL.

This was great! Not only he sang like an angel but he also removed ONE LAYER of clothing!!
I couldn’t believe that he can come up  yet with another version of WWFM, but he did!
“Number One, Number One, Number One”. I loved that chant…

  • Anonymous

He looked like a god and sang like one.

Clothed, no fireworks, just quiet intensity – Chokehold – talk about seductive.

I managed to catch most of the stream. It was fantastic, Adam is a vocal God, there is just no denying. And I think he was even holding back a bit so as not to strain his vocal chords more. He still sounded and looked amazing, all sweaty and stuff. Love his sexy ass!

Wow.. in 2009 Adam only performed 5 songs on iHeartRadio Unplug, but he performed almost the whole album?? Woo hoo … he is really promoting this album. .. Ohh. what happened with Underneath ??

  • fuzzywuzzy

Great concert! Adam looked and sounded wonderful. I was a little disappointed that he didn’t sing OoL (my favorite) and Underneath, but I especially enjoyed the other songs that I like, BE and NCOE. Nice to see the album still at #1 on iTunes. I hope that Adam has a very strong opening week.

ETA: One small critique. I thought that the arm flailing of the backup singers was a bit excessive (and distracting) at times.

    1) I loved the nail polish.
    2) Lol the shirt.

    3) Hmmm, sometimes I loved the backup singers and sometimes I wanted them to GTFO.
    4) There was no wailing on the bridge of Broken English and Adam didn’t seem to go for the glory notes like at the Kimmel concert, was he ill?
    3) Love love Chokehold.

Whats crazy is when Adam holds back a bit he is still head and shoulders above anyone else.

  • mmb

Adam had to cancel some interviews this morning per doctors orders because he blew out his voice last night.  He definitely wasn’t giving every song everything he had….he still has Idol to do on Thursday and then a week’s worth of radio shows…

I would say that he strained his voice, not blown out, because he still sang very well today. I could hear some raspiness when he talked tho.

  • http://twitter.com/MoriaPolonius Moria Polonius

Oh, it was a long set to do in that vocal condition. I hope he’ll get back in shape before Thursday, for the big thing. I was just a bit disappointed by not getting my favorite cosmic opera when the sound on the videos was good.

  • Anonymous

That sounds serious.  Did someone actually say “blew out his voice”?

  • Anonymous

I would love to know the industry definition for “blow out” a voice. Yes it was said on Sirius radio by dj Larry Flick. Here is the sound cloud.

    http://soundcloud.com/scorpios4music/2012-05-15-adam-lambert

Larry plays NCOEs and then talks in the middle and then plays cuckcoo. Listen to when Larry talks about how adam recorded 6 songs for them (I guess last fall). Very complementary. Also mentions Lee dewyze (not so much).

If your voice is blown out you cannot sing the next day, period. Adam will be fine for idol and what ever is next after that. He will do just like he did on tour, back off a little in some parts and ease up on the interviews

  • http://twitter.com/MoriaPolonius Moria Polonius

because he still sang very well today.

I only watched/heard Chokehold, Shady and Broken English, and I only noticed on Broken English and on Chokehold he sounded perfectly beautiful.

Sometimes I wonder if “blow out” your voice is code for strained or tired. Adam needed to rest to be ready for the iHeart Radio thing and in addition to singing he’s been doing a lot of talking. I don’t know maybe there is something specific physically that “blow out” means vocally. Something that really did require a doctor to check?

  • Anonymous

“blew out his voice”? Just a small exaggeration maybe?  Don’t think he would
even be talking, let alone singing if this were the case.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

He clearly didn’t “blow out” his voice.  He obviously just needed to rest it for a bit.

  • Anonymous

    More likely a “disco nap.”

  • Anonymous

Adam was supposed to talk to Larrry Flick on Sirius this morning, that’s why Larry mentioned Adam would not be there this morning.  He said something about Adam being back on Monday maybe.

I didn’t say he blew out his voice. That’s what the DJ on Sirius said. listen to it here   http://soundcloud.com/scorpios4music/2012-05-15-adam-lambert

That’s why I was wondering if the phrase really has a medical or vocalist meaning to it or if it’s just something they say. I don’t know what it means to blow out a voice.

I’ve seen the same discussion before regarding that same phrase. I’m not sure that it really means you can’t talk or sing the next day??

My resident professional singer says “blowing out” means damaging your voice to the point where you can’t sing.  Said Adele probably did that with the nodes she had to have operated on.  The dj obviously didn’t know what he was talking about or got wrong info.  Still think Adam just wanted a nap and keep his voice in shape for AI.

  • sagi

yep, or to the point of extreme hoarseness.

“Vocal blowout means you have strained your voice to the point of extreme hoarseness or have lost your voice completely.”

  • Anonymous

Jay-sus…..I don’t think I can possibly love Shady anymore than I already do……that’s one funky ass song.  And Adam does it so damn well.  He puts just the right portion of stank on it!  My jam since I first heard it in its’ entirely.  Funny if that’s what a blown out voice sounds like, most everyone else wishes they could blow out their voice and sound like that! Baby got skilz!

  • Anonymous

Weird you would think a DJ  would know what that phrase means but I guess it’s a little like saying you have a migraine when really it’s just a head ache but people are more sympathetic and less likely to call you a diva. LOL

Adam certainly did a lot yesterday. I read the village voice interview which he apparently did before his performance at the cave thing. He still sounds awesome on the iHeat Radio songs. Can’t wait to see him at the end of the month. Really glad I got tickets now.

The dj was very complimentary about how Adam sat down and recorded 6 songs (two from FYE, two from TSP and two other songs) “concert style” (which I guess means sang them straight through in one take. That concert:

Announcement of Memorial Day concert with Adam Lambert that will be
played on Sirius Radio several times over the weekend, first airing to
be May 26th at 4PM Eastern time Channel Q108

The dj also said it tool Lee Dewyze 3 hours to record 3 songs (7 takes to get O Holy night correct).

I really enjoyed the concert.  The band sounds great and the backup singers seem to be getting more into the music when they sing.  Adam, of course, sounds and looks amazing, even with a strained voice.  I recall on the GNT he sometimes held back on some of the glory notes in Fever and other songs between tour dates to maintain his voice.  I am loving the songs on ‘Trespassing’ the more I listen to them.  I can’t even pick a favorite right now because it changes the more I listen.  Adam should be proud of creating such a great album.  I hope that it stays at Number 1 for its debut.  I am loving this.

  • LaurelG

Wow! These performances are incredibly polished. So, so good. I just love Chokehold and Shady!

  • milwlovesadam

This fan is a health professional who works with voice/vocal problems. As such, I noticed that his voice sounded strained in his Billboard interview. What was that, like the 10th interview of the day, getting ready for another performance, sound check, warm up? And goodness knows our guy isn’t exactly short on words in an interview. Nope. No interviewer ever needs to say to Adam ” Is there anything else you would like to say?”

I’m sure that if Adam’s voice was suffering by the end of the day yesterday ( remember he did leave the MLB and probs didn’t go out clubbing in NY, very unlike him), he also rested his voice. Maybe a doctor visited and looked at those vocal cords, and advised him to take it easy today, which means vocal rest and lots of hydration.

Adam is a consummate professional. He knows what to do. But, he also is a hard worker with many obligations who loves to talk. He does need to be careful. He has a very busy spring and summer. Followed by a tour.

I’m glad he has those back-up gals to take some of the burden off those glorious vocal cords.

Very nice performance set. I heard a little of the strain too in Broken English, but mostly he was smart enough to just not go for the huge notes and to rely on his backup. They’re obviously still working on the arrangements, but for most it’s definitely enjoyable. Chokehold was the best vocal of the night imo and Naked Love is infectious fun.

Also exciting, Adam has maintain the #1 spot on iTunes all day today. Glee might overtake him in the night, but for now he continues to reign supreme.

  • Anonymous

It’s not unusual for posters to say Adam sounds hoarse in interviews – sometimes he does when there’s actually no problem with his voice.

He may be having problems here, but I don’t hear them.  He could just actually be conserving his voice since he’s doing so much talking/singing lately.  Just like on GNT he lowered the key on certain songs.

Remember “Starlight” sounded so different on the AI tour at the end than it did at the beginning.  He’s not one to be reckless with his voice, IMO.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Adam is still #1 on iTunes and is #5 on Amazon.com (with an upward arrow)!

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’ve heard that talking is not good for a vocalist and that Celine refuses to talk the day of a performance, so having too many interviews can definitely have a negative impact on a person’s singing.

He is on vocal rest so he wasn’t going whole hog… Has to save himself for Idol! :)

I checked Itunes when I woke up and not only is Adam’s album Trespassing still #1! Adam stayed on top of Itunes despite the season finale of Glee and their Graduation album. Many thought they would outsell Trespassing as the finlae aired but he held onto the #1 spot! He has 2 songs Trespassing and Runnin in the top 200 Itunes songs overall and 6 songs Trespassing, Runnin, NCOE, Underneath, Better Than I Know Myself and Outlaws of Love in the top 200 Itunes songs on Pop! Trespassing is #5 on Amazon Best Seller list overall with a green arrow up and #2 on Barnes and Noble’s Best Seller list right behind Queen Adele. Congratulatons Adam! SO impressed with the music and am SO glad you are getting the recognition you deserve.

I missed the stream and have seen youtubes of only 2 or 3 of the songs Adam sang last night, but I thought the energy on Kickin’ In was terrific, and that’s only the first or second time he’s sung that song in public.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_WIHKL34XDORTS2UZP4SWUUTG3U randi

    Adam sounded great as usual.

Whoever did the camera work should be slapped though.  I felt motion sickness just watching Cuckoo LOL

  • Axxxel

Just saw the clips here…. Love Cuckoo and Chokeold.
