Adam Lambert stopped by the Early Show on Tuesday for an interview and performance of “Mad World”. His segment was aired this morning…

Interview and Mad World

  • unique28v

I love this blog. I was just wondering if someone was going to post this since I missed it this morning. lol

  • melvel

Geez, can’t he sing anything else besides this? I wish he’d sing A Change Is A Gonna Come or even Ring of Fire.

  • silverwings

Lol, you can see Rickey and his Glambert signs in the background.

  • Suzanne

Geez, canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t he sing anything else besides this?

Kris and Adam are singing the best-selling tracks on itunes to keep the sales up.

  • unique28v

Geez, canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t he sing anything else besides this? I wish heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d sing A Change Is A Gonna Come or even Ring of Fire.

Its like a politician. You give the same speech because there are MANY people who have not heard it yet. Its the same thing with music. Thats why artists release singles, to not only sell that single but to get people interested in their album and hopefuly buy it. I mean, Beyonce is still singing single ladies and halo. lol Its just the way it is. But the good thing is Adam sings it live, so we get a special little treat each time. Its never sung exactly the same way.

  • calimari

If you’re tired of hearing him sing “Mad World”, just imagine how tired Taylor fans got of “Do I Make You Proud?” At least this is a good song! LOL!

  • Sunn

He sounds so much better here than he sounded on the Today show. Beautiful! Also the piano accompaniment was better than today’s Orland performance.
There was a a middle-aged woman actually crying, almost weeping at around 4.44 mins.

LoL Rickey waving those paddles, 2 of them at one point LoL

  • SpenserJ

Geez, canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t he sing anything else besides this? I wish heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d sing A Change Is A Gonna Come or even Ring of Fire.

With each of these appearances, the attempt is to reach a different audience. The number of people who actually wind up watching every appearance video online is actually very, very small. So, to the general viewing audiences of these shows, it’s probably the first time they’ve heard him do this in a week (and for some, ever). It’s really only us internet peeps who get annoyed by the sameness.

  • weareallinnocent

Thanks for capturing all the joy of morning TV today, mj!! My lil one graduated from preschool (lol) this a.m., so I had to blow off work for her instead of Adam. :-)

Exactly, lol, unlike those of us on here, some watch this show, some watch that show, we watch ALL shows so, yea, we hear the same song over and over because we do that.

  • mar

It’s too bad the studio recording of Tracks of My Tears isn’t the acoustic one, or he could promote that one as well…

  • suebrody

Adam recorded this Tuesday, b/f Regis and b/f The Today Show, so he was in fine voice (not that ever isn’t, but he sounded best here, IMO). Please, TPTB, let him sing ToMT or something else! Let the viewers get the full Adam range. (Except for No Boundaries. Do NOT sing No Boundaries live.)

I can’t wait to see him on tour, hear his album, go to his live show. He will have an incredible future. We’re lucky we can join him for it.

  • http://www.irish-wolfhounds.com Buderschnookie

I’m just amazed at how consistently near perfect he sings at these early morning gigs.
7-8-9am is probably when he usually rolls in to go to bed!

Love when Orland plays- the other guy not so much.

Anyone else notice the very young girl singing along next to the very old white haired guy that was singing along, too?
That put a smile in my heart.

  • Dr. Tracey

Awwww it would be a mad world without Adam. True.
    That was an awesome performance.

  • Glenda

Seriously, I cannot wait for the album!! Yes, Buderschnookie–I noticed quite awhile ago the very wide age range Adam appeals to–it’s great.

  • suebrody

“It’s a Mad World without Adam.” Amen. The audience was enraptured. Yeah, I get that.

    I’m waiting for my Glambert t-shirt from rickey.org. It’s WICKED green. ;)

  • JudyOhio

I’m a very nocturnal person and usually sleeping when these morning shows come on, so thank you very much for these videos mj! I can always depend on mjsbigblog! I’m tired of him performing Mad World too, but there are always new peeps that didn’t catch it the first time and those who maybe only heard it once on the show. So, no biggie, he’s just doin’ the circuit. Anxious for the next leg of all this….the tour, the album, the career!

  • hyelady47

    anything is great with adam.
but after all the same questions, i wish there was less rhetoric and let us hear the full version of the song, i.e. more adam.
    less talk, more singing….
adam doesn’t have to say the samething over, and over, and over, again.

  • saga

Tracks of My Tears pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease! Someone on guitar and someone to keep the beat, thats all he needs.

Kate09: Thanks for posting the link. More awesome Adam stuff to enjoy.

Ha. This is going to be fun. That girl did not even try to hide her fangirl craziness. Love her.

  • Ellie2

Ha. This is going to be fun. That girl did not even try to hide her fangirl craziness. Love her.

She’s been fantarding over him all season and I’m glad she kept it up when she finally met him. I give her major points for managing to keep off his lap. And I was cracking up when she mentioned the Kradam slash to him. You know Adam’s going to go read it. LOL!

  • GeminiDolly

Oh and was there a hint that he is going to be on the cover of RS?? ::Crosses fingers::

  • downeast

    kate09

You are my hero. Thanks so much for the interview, it was hilarious, probably because Michelle said so many thing we fantards are thinking. Constantly.

Although my favorite bit was actually in the comment section…from “Courtney”, who wanted to smell Michelle’s jacket after she had hugged Adam!

I just really believe he smells really good. Like a unicorn draped in a lilac wreath being ridden by a star child drinking an apple cider in a fall frost. Pretty much exactly like that.

    ROFL. :clap_tb:

  • kate09

Yes it was great to see a true fantard interview Adam! I was crying by the end I was laughing so hard…she is awesome! Loved her picture captions too.

I also wonder about Adam’s smell…I am certain it is amazing.

I have got to get a grip. But I don’t even want to stop obsessing over this wonderful man.

  • GeminiDolly

Adam admits he didnt get along with someone but wont say who because they will be on tour together all summer. hmmmm I have two people in mind.

  • kate09

How can you not get along with Adam? I don’t get that…it’s not like he ran up & down the halls in the mansion in a dress trying to kiss Michael & Danny.

Although even that image doesn’t turn me off to him, LOL.

  • downeast

    Also THIS is wonderful…

Hmmm. Link isn’t working for me, so here’s the url:

Long after the memories of Idol have faded, Adam is going to treasure the studio version of Tracks of My Tears. To be able to record that vocal track with the Miracles signing backup and the lengendary Motown house band? Wow. To any serious musician, it doesn’t get any more special than that. I’m always amazed when people complain about the backing tracks on those Motown week singles. It’s impossible to overstate just how magical that Motown band was. That week is with Smokey Robinson and visiting Motown and recording that track is one that Adam will never forget.

  • Tess
  • mmb

yay — confirmation that Adam is Jewish….don’t know why this makes me happy but it does

  • Jayd

Oooh! the full version this time, and even better than the rest, he just keeps getting better! Love all the video and links to Adam interviews/performances! It makes the fact that the season is over (a little) easier to bear. All this and Idolatry Adam, too. Seventh Heaven. :wub_tb:

  • Ellie2

hmmmm I have two people in mind.

Me, too. And they’re very godly.

  • Niall

I don’t think it’s Gokey, it is probably Sarver. I’ve come to believe Danny is basically a good hearted guy, just very sheltered. Sarver is probably the one Adam didn’t get along with. I liked his persona in the beginning but now that he’s opened his mouth a few times, I think Sarver is a total redneck who uses the bible to justify his bigotry.

  • kate09

Niall – I agree, I think it’s Sarver. Danny & Adam are very different, but I think as people left the mansion & Danny saw Kris & Adam, he saw that while Adam may not be his closest friend, he’s a good guy. I think Sarver has no clue how to handle someone like Adam & there is likely friction there.

I really, really wish they could just do the tour w/out Sarver. Few people would care & Adam deserves to have everything to his liking on the tour b/c let’s face it, he’s the one filling up those seats.

  • suebrody

I knew Adam was Jewish–non-practicing–and what made me so happy is that is wasn’t brought up! There were enough distractions. The last thing we needed were allegations of antisemitism.

I hope he comes out and says he is attracted to ZOMBIES! In your face, everybody. Heh.

Sarver. *sigh* In my mind, he took Alexis’s place in the competition, and he is a mediocre singer, to be kind, whatever his personal beliefs (that I also think may well be close-minded).

  • Anastasia72071

OMG, I totally loved that comment!! I think I might have to save that somewhere. Sheesh, I’m so retarded. :jittery_tb: :doh_tb: lol

  • Anastasia72071

“You gotta get the tongue out though. The tongue kinda ends up sticking out sometimes.”

    “…Speaking of tongue…”

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!! :jittery_tb: Oh to speak those words to Adam! heh

Seriously though, that performance of ‘M.W.’ was really beautiful.

  • webster

One thing I really liked seeing and (not hearing) was that the audience was in tune with him on this – their faces, their quiet listening. I know, editing might be concealing and revealing selectively. But so often, especial with Idol-type celebrity, the audience is more into the person than the music and shriek or cheer in ways that, not only show that they are not really listening themselves, but also make it impossible for others to listen. I hope this means that Adam is attracting a music-loving fanbase, not primarily a celebrity-loving one.

    I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Gokey, it is probably Sarver.

I agree with Sarver, (who should be honest enough to give up his tour position to the rightful Alexis, yeah right!) I read someplace (?) where Adam said he did not “understand” Danny. Makes perfect sense to me.

You are not alone in this Adam. Hell, I don’t ‘understand” Gokey myself.

Long after the memories of Idol have faded, Adam is going to treasure the studio version of Tracks of My Tears. To be able to record that vocal track with the Miracles signing backup and the lengendary Motown house band?

Was it really the Mircales singing backup and the Motown band playing? I wasn’t paying attention at the time, but had gotten the idea that they just recorded vocals over an old, pre-recorded Motown track. If they really recorded with the band and singers, that is cool. The music-minus-one concept didn’t interest me at all, no matter what the pedigree of the backing track. I’ll go back and listen – it’s one of the few studio versions of Adam’s that I didn’t buy.

Aside from that, though, it would have been nice to have a full-length acoustic version, because that was such an interesting take on the song.

  • hwc

Was it really the Mircales singing backup and the Motown band playing?

    Yes.

I wasnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t paying attention at the time, but had gotten the idea that they just recorded vocals over an old, pre-recorded Motown track.

Not just any pre-recorded Motown track. The original Motown track from the Smokey Robinson and the Miracles single.

If they really recorded with the band and singers, that is cool. The music-minus-one concept didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t interest me at all, no matter what the pedigree of the backing track.

Well, about half of the Motown house band, including Marvin Gaye, are dead. How do you think Smokey Robinson recorded his vocals? Every singer in Motown history came in and put down a vocal track on top of the completed backing track recorded by the legendary house band. That’s how Barry Gordy could take almost any singer in off the street and record such great songs. Adam’s version is just wonderful.

Here’s a sample of a concert performed by the surviving Motown musicians for the incredible documentary on the Motown Funk Brothers band, Standing in the Shadows of Motown (available on DVD)

And, another one. This time re-recorded in the Motown studio. Wow:
