It does not matter if it a piece of drekkola song. Plenty drekkola goes Platinum weekly. Anything 2 points better than “Want” is passable. He sounds great singing almost anything.

Otherwise, Isn’t it exciting to be so passionate about something? Not over-invested. Inspired. Ignited.

OK..OK.. I am really, really curious and you guys have all the answers. Has any other idol had their single debuted on Ryan’s show? I’ve never paid much attention so I wouldn’t know. I’m pretty sure he has debuted a number of songs from other singers.
And I know many idols who have debuted on Kiss New York to a huge audience.

This is the one time that twitter is KING…no better marketing tool.

6:55 in LA is prime drive time since it takes 2 hours to go 10 miles on the freeway in Rush Hour (probably an exaggeration) and the younger crowd is tuned in before first class, and the clubbers are just getting home, and I’m always up way before then.

Indeed. Oh My Ra, Kiss and Tell and the Pop Goes The Camera all were pretty processed…which I was fine with. His voice was distinctive to me, but it was VERY dance/electro/pop so a lot of processing.

Thanks for posting this information! I am a long standing reader/lurker, and I have only ever poted once before. I am so thrilled that there will be new music to listen to and hopefully, everyone will move on from the cover discussions. I was not believing the Pink song as the first single. I have read in addition to this blog, that of NYMichael, who had posted that Adam’s first single was likely to be a dance track…and this was designed on purpose so that there would be two very different song sung by Adam on the charts at the same time, each appealing to a different audience. Does this sound right? I don’t know the names for the different markets, some of you probably do. Also, I read an article on the internet today that said that TFM charted for the first time on the Billboard top 100 at #50. Did anyone else see this? The article went on to say that this first time placement was the highest of any idol in the show’s history.

I personally don’t expect to like every single that my favorites put out each year. I remember alot of mixed reactions to LO last year. It went on to do well and the fans survived.
If I don’t love this single, there will be other songs on the cd that I do love. If I don’t like the single, I’ll move on to the next thing. (late-night shows,AMAs,album,tour,etc.)

I agree with Adam…It’s really not that deep. It’s music-it’s meant to enhance our lives. Following Adam is like a roller coaster ride. I don’t always LOVE everything he does, but I LOVE the ride!
ETA: I’m expecting to love it. I love THE VOICE. I like BEP,Gaga, Pink, Muse,etc. Plus, I’m easy when it comes to Adam.

Yeah, that Space Cowboy song is dreck, but that girl is gorgeous and the video is all up in its own attitude.

I so agree. As I have said many times, most post AI work is dreck. I haven’t been proven terribly wrong yet, I don’t expect that this will be too terribly different. I just want it to be somewhat enjoyable crap that I think has a chance of commercially succeeeding, oh and that I can bop to. That’s it. I just want bop, fun, dancey music others might buy. And no, I don’t expect it to go to number 1 or whatever, Not even close, not after the last time, ha! If it does well over the longhaul and I like the tune, I will be happy.

I think the synth beats and the “music” is exactly what Adam’s musical background will be. I don’t think his voice will be altered, but he’s going for “Ring of Fire” sped up 100 times. This isn’t going to be classic guitar and drums.

But, I am very excited for new Adam material. Reminds me of Tuesdays during Idol. What’s he going to sing? How is he going to twist the song? Is he going to go for the high note or tone it down? How is he going to top last week?

Not really. Either they’ll buy it when it comes out on itunes for better quality. Or they’ll find another better quality dl link after it comes out on itunes and still not pay for it.

I am bracing myself—I remember last year hearing LO for the first time, loving it, and then rushing to the message board to see reactions and finding they were mostly negative, lol. I know I won’t love everything on Adam’s CD, but I REALLY want to love this first single. Picking a first single is pretty huge, I am sure RCA took their time and made a smart decision…

It is funny to come on here and see all of the expectations lowered after the last week or two. That’s a good thing though. I had to get realistic in my own heart after TFM, etc. Maybe this time, we can have our expectations exceeded and party and dance all weekend after we hear the song! Alrighty then BeckyMD…I don’t usually get all worked up over this but I just have to say that the great Creator sure frigged things up. My eyelashes are barely visible even with caked on mascara and here sits Adam with lower lashes thicker than my hair..and it looks like a double row of top lashes. I so agree. As I have said many times, most post AI work is dreck. I haven’t been proven terribly wrong yet, I don’t expect that this will be too terribly different. I just want it to be somewhat enjoyable crap that I think has a chance of commercially succeeeding, oh and that I can bop to. That’s it. I just want bop, fun, dancey music others might buy. And no, I don’t expect it to go to number 1 or whatever, Not even close, not after the last time, ha! If it does well over the longhaul and I like the tune, I will be happy.

Truthiness - ITA. I’m keeping the expectations grounded, and, in all honesty, I’m hoping for something in the vein of what I listen to everyday on the Top 40 stations – Britney, BEP, Lady Gaga, etc. Those songs are hardly the most brilliant or revolutionary or even good, but they are fun, and made to get people shaking their asses. I will be very happy if the song is able to make some traction on the radio and catches on beyond the AI bubble. It doesn’t need to be a smash, especially right off the bat.

I am not worried. I am just over excited. So far, I have liked all the songs Adam has sang, pre-idol, idol and tour, and I love TfM. I am sure I will like his songs since I love his voice. I like dancing, so my bet is I will flove FyE.

I have a feeling that the song will be really shallow, poppy and overall, pretty crappy. But if it has a good beat… I still think it’ll do well. Really well, probably. Lady GaGa has had a meteoric rise, and all of her songs sound the same and are super dumb. but that’s popular right now.

I’m so excited, we’ll finally get to hear what Adam’s music really sounds like! I really have faith in him.

Tomorrow already was an exciting day for me, as I’ll be celebrating the closure of a month that has meant a lot for my career, now Adam’s single will be like the cherry on top! (Just like Adam likes it).

Expectations? Ha! I prefer to leave the canvas blank. That way, Adam can fill it however he likes and need not worry that he’s not painting inside the lines or by the numbers. And I save my brow the furrowing that naturally would occur if he were to miss my pre-painted mark.

Which is why I would think it would be best for these songs to be released on a radio show as close as possible to having it avail on iTunes. Sure people will still steal it, but if it’s immediately available legally, maybe slightly less will.

Just my non-music industry savvy thought on the subject.

If Adam’s music turns out to be crappy, he can always cover Jordin songs at the fairgrounds.

But I am very hopeful that his music will be everything he said it would be, especially given all the props from music peeps.

I posted the link to the article about digital downloads several days ago when I was looking up digital sales. The quote is representative, I believe, of 2007 so I imagine it has gotten worse.

That is why the industry is taking such a hit right now…and if Kissfm is smart tomorrow they will put a blurb over the song at some point to discourage peeps from copying and downloading. I know they do this a lot with full songs that they stream.

Life is so much easier when you don’t give a crap what other people think. I LOVED tfm. I LOVED the album cover and I’ll probably LOVE fye but I’ll reserve judgement until after I listen a few times. Do I care what others think? nope. Will anyone else’s opinions sway me one way or another? uh no. Adam is an artist whose vision and musicality really affects me. Only one other artist has affected me the way Adam has and that’s Freddie Mercury. I never doubted Queen’s artistic vision. Never doubted their music or their message. I’ve loved almost everything they’ve pressed into vinyl and what I haven’t loved I’ve liked. Freddie Mercury was a brilliant entertainer, singer and songwriter and Adam is my 21st century Freddie.

Actually Adam’s appearing on Oprah seems to have helped Kris and Allison too as both their Albums have made huge gains on the Amazon Charts.

Lots of songs are available for streaming before they go on sale. Live Like Your Dying was streamed well before it was up on iTunes. I had downloads of every song on DCTR before the album was released. I still bought it when it came out because I wanted to support David. (Indeed, I bought 2, to get different bonus tracks).

Of course, that doesn’t mean casual fans would do that. Given the interest in this single, there would doubtless be a lot of downloading even if the single were to be up on iTunes within hours. Hopefully, enough people will like what they hear and buy the song anyway. Or at least buy the album when it comes out.

They both have pretty good track records overall. But I’m a Cubs fan, I’m most used to snatching defeat from the jaws for victory. It’s my default mode to assume that things will go wrong somehow.

This is the “Movers and Shakers.” It’s based on how much they’ve moved up the chart. In other words, if you are at 1,290, but move up to 210, you can be #12 on Movers and Shakers. Adam is currently #1 all around. Kris is somewhere around 35, and Allison is still pretty low. But, she had a drastic move-up. Kris still isn’t doing well on Amazon.

You’re right! I guess few fans keep the first single of an artist as their favorite tracks from an album.

I had this same kind of expectations some months ago while waiting for U2′s “Get On Your Boots” at midnight, now I don’t really care that much for it either, but it made me happy then, even if it wasn’t the greatest thing, so I’m just expecting to feel the same kind of simple, pure joy, just for the sake of it, in a few hours courtesy of Mr. Lambert .

Well, it’s been a long time, but I don’t think anybody’s answered this, so … I’m pretty sure that several have. I know for certain that Elliott debuted Wait for You there. Really helped that song get traction, without a doubt (which was a whole different ball of wax in his case, because of his indie status — he really needed the boost — and Wait for You became one of the top pop songs of the year, an amazing feat for an indie single.)

Powerhouse producer/rapper Timbaland has pushed back release date for his new album “Shock Value 2″ from November 23 to December 8. There hasn’t been any explanation in regard of the pushback just yet.

It just reaffirms my belief that Adam knew exactly what he was doing with the album cover. The guy knows the difference between camp and avante garde.

The single cover is 10 gazillion times better than his album cover. That is fierce.

Granted, I’ll deduct a couple of points for that “Bubble-Gum Vending Machine” set of rings he’s wearing (I don’t care how expensive they are in real life) and it does end up looking even more like Rihanna’s cover than his cover does, but it least it looks somewhat artistic and not tacky.

When my DD who is Luv’s age had swine – she NEVER RAN A TEMPERATURE – but had a deep hacking cough. She sleep NON-STOP for seven days … I had to wake her to force fluids…

65% of the kids in her private school were out with H1N1 at one point … and the symptoms were all over the map (but NO ONE seemed to have the full set of “typical” flu symptoms – yet all tested positive when given the nose swab test for influenza “A” – 95% of which are swine).

Every single Mom I spoke with noted the ONE SYMPTOM they all shared – they slept like the dead for at least Five Days. Some don’t appear that ill – but it saps their strength.

If Luv has swine – she’s sleeping it off.

Hope she’s dreaming of Adam and when she wakes up – it will be just like Sleeping Beauty -

Except she’ll get her first single – instead of a kiss – from Adam.

They both have FYE on the front so it can be interchangeable on an ipod. I want both myself.

In all cases, the music is what counts the most. If it’s good enough then I will buy his CD and promote it to my friends.

Interesting thing about the cover: I’ve heard several people who barely know of Adam (never really watched AI) telling me about hearing about the cover on the web. It definitely got people’s attention who wouldn’t even be following Adam otherwise.

One friend of mine emailed to say “the cover is weird”. Two emails later she said: “But it’s made me interested in what his album will be like.” I think it has done its job

The single cover is, indeed, beautiful and fierce and iconic and all of that. I love it. It’s what I would have expected from an Adam album cover.

And if it had been the album cover, it wouldn’t have generated 300 news articles, much less made the WSJ or CNN. There would have been some in-bubble squeeing and that would have been that.

Love it or hate it, the real cover did its job well.

mamadeb: I read that somewhere about the album cover. 300 news articles AROUND THE WORLD! A video was on my comcast home page for 24 hours. It was POSITIVE! At the end the reporter said, “That’s Adam Lambert for you”. It’s funny how Adam’s name is standing on it’s own now. (no American Idol or runner-up title)

The single cover is great! It only accentuates his contrasts – its the opposite of the cover.

It doesnt standout in a shelf or in amazon page like the cover. Perfect for the single! Cant wait for the music!

I love this cover for Adam’s single! I can’t get enough of those beautiful, mysterious eyes looking out at ya! I, also, loved the album cover….and it did what it was suppose to do…get everybodies attention. And I can’t get enough of FYE, it keeps playing in my head. I am just so excited and happy for Adam and what’s ahead for him. He deserves it!
