I can get more a of a feel for it from this than the 20 second clip and I think I’m going to like it quite a bit. His vocal sounds even more phenomenal.

This is gorgeous!!! Gorgeous, gorgeous!!! The audio clip before was predominantly mellow whereas this video clip rocks! Adam kills is. I love it. We’ll be hearing that song EVERYWHERE I suspect. Yay for Adam!

I think I”m really going to like this. The video puts the song in better perspective than the short clip does. And Adam show’s his range more in this video clip. The song is what I expected for the most part, and it sounds really good.

OMG, so good!

I think this is not so good. So I don’t know that I ever would have, but hearing his explanation and then his singing just so over the top, well it doesn’t work for me. It just sounds like I’m doing this because they told me to. Maybe if he had said nothing…ok, probably not, but he’d have had a better chance. In the end, I find Adam Lambert to be an OTT singer who has nothing to do with anything current…Oh and my kids (both of them heartily lolled for a long time).

That video has three, maybe four, snippets from the song cut and spliced together. The first part, then the bridge is spliced in, then something from the end. The very first part of the video might be the intro to the song.

Just popping out from under my rock to point out (maybe everyone’s already noticed, and said so–sooo many adam threads, soooo little time) that while this was always gonna be fairly cheestastic given the circs, the lyrics are less cheesy than what we originally thought we heard.
Because I’m fairly sure, having listened to the video (which, lets face it, just overflows with adam awesomeness) that the line is:
“I ain’t giving up on us”
rather than
“I ain’t giving up on love”
Which, okay, neither one will win the Booker Prize, but is clearly less painful to have repeated over and over in a chorus. Especially when it is being so beautifully, spectacularly repeated.
Go Adam. SO excited for him. And for us.

I have never douded the “seal of approval,” of Brian May. He know’s when something is Epic. It just IS!

My heart skipped a beat, when Adam was voicing his opinion, about the song, in relation to the movie plot. I was holding my breath, while he was talking. I forgot what he does to me. It all came back, with a huge THUD!

I miss seeing him every night, during the Idol concert’s, but realize he is bigger than that. This summer was filled with Adam, and his way of making every performance an event!

I just love this magical mystery man! He has this powerful presense, that just grabs you by the heart.

Not at all. David Cook did all his own back-up vocals on his debut album, and he sings all those songs all live, either alone or with light harmony from his band, and the songs all sound great. Adam will have back-up singers, or he’ll sing just the melody line, and it will sound great. Both David and Adam have the vocal chops to sing without multiple tracks.

On the song itself, I was quite disappointed when I heard the initial snippet in the other thread. This sounds much much better. Yes, the song is cheestastic. So was Time of My Life — indeed, it had the ultimate cheese line, “Looking for that Magic Rainbow.” It went platinum. More than year after its release, it’s still on the radio. Time for Miracles will do just fine, if not better than fine.

SQUEEE!! Love it. Fabulous Crescendo. His voice is gorgeous. The power of the music and his voice should sound awesome in the theatre. Can’t wait to hear the whole thing. And this is the first clip that made me really want to see the film (more than I would normally because I automatically see everything disaster related).

JMHO but I believe even more then I did before that if the marketing honcho’s of 2012 used the song in the Oct 1st video spam the movie would have viewed better. The song makes the movie look less craptastic. (meaning better) But to be honest I maybe sort of biased.

I am SOOO behind the times. Please, Please Please, someone tell me how to download a YouTube video. I want This one and ‘Come Home’  so bad I could cry!

There are several ways to do it, but I use keepvid (www.keepvid.com). It’s pretty self explanatory once you go to their site.

But now, eight excruciating days later, the time for “Time For Miracles” has finally arrived. A new (and of course improved) trailer featuring a snippet of the Glamerican Idol’s much-hyped song has at long last leaked, and it’s just the big, blustery, bombastic, Brian May-endorsed, Oscar-worthy, dancing-in-the-path-of-greatness, EPIC movie theme Adam fans hoped it would be.

But does she like it?? haha. So Lyndsey loves it (did you doubt she would?), Slezak likes it, Jim was meh, and MJ was meh. Anyone else?

OK; I just LOVE the double singing in the verse, makes it sound “autotunish”, if I am allowed to use that word, but if you listen carefully it is two vocals on top of each other, unblended. Totally awesome.

I love what I hear and particularly enjoy where he goes with the lyric “love” at about 0:50. Can’t wait to hear more of that.

Much better than the 30s snipet, Adam get to wail it out really good on this song, the middle part sounds like Kashmir, I think it could be a big hit on AC and HAC.
The whole video looks like a bonus interview for a DVD.

Nah, I think they know there are too many invested fans out there who will scour the internet for stuff. I mean his album went #1 on Amazon the day it was available for preorder without any prior notice.

I just don’t like the song, so coronation-like to me. It has nothing special, and the orchestra part sounds like a ripp off of “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” by U2, the song used in Batman Forever, BTW that song truly rocks but was voted one of the worst that year.

I like Adam, I really do, I just don’t get this song, it’s so ordinary, I was expecting awesomeness. I like LLWD by Kris so much more than this song and by far (not that they can be compared, just saying).

But well, sorry to the Adam fans, hopefully his record will be full of pleasent surprises.

FINALLY. He is SUCH a great singer….his voice (or his vocal performance rather) really MAKES the song, especially since in this particular clip or part of the song before Adam starts singing there is an almost UNCANNY resemblance to the music from that “Dont let me got song” by “The Fray” (I think that’s the title?)…but as soon as he starts singing and your hear his distinctive voice the song sort of meta-morphs LOL
and I LOVED how they synthesized his voice it sounds very cool and adds a modern touch (and makes it even more ear-friendly for those who are not fans of the rock wail…although I am =D)…so yeah I think the only thing that makes it a bit cheesy/corny is the lyrics but musically speaking it doesnt sound outdated to me…guess we shall have to see what everyone else thinks..cant wait to hear the whole the whole thing though…with the video =D

Everyone needs to remember, this song was written for a movie, it may not resemble what Adam’s CD will sound like. That said, I think it’s AMAZING, Adam can sing ANYTHING!

I don’t get the apologizing for not liking it. Not everyone will, it is a ballad and with a classic rock feel, not everyone’s cup of tea. I’m absolutely crazy about it, but then Adam can sing and wail the Sesame Street theme song and I’ll love it.

Nothing casual about posting a promotional video five weeks out from a movie not in theatres, the day after the first press junket — to oh, so beautiful Jackson Hole –that prominently features the handsome, talented, internet sensation singing the end credit song. Yeah, that says tight script and never before achieved special effects.

That AOL vid editing of one 2.5 second scene after another wasn’t for today’s short attention span. It was because the movie footage wasn’t very good. (Close ups of Cusack gear shifting?) Starting to think the reason for the roadblock was attempt to inoculate audience from leaking bad buzz. That includes, now, look it’s Adam Lambert, you love him, you’ll love the movie. Trend this please.

The TFM snippets are definitely further proof Adam can sing anything. Lyrical or musical innovation not required. He’ll make anything sound as good as it ever has any hope of being.

Ryan has seemed eager for Adam music for awhile. As a part-time listener to his show (man he is a douche in that morning dj way, but he’s much easier to take than other morning djs), he never pays much attention to Idols post-show, but strangely mentions Adam a fair bit (in comparison, that is) and specifically mentioned his single when he interviewed him post-Idol. I found that pretty interesting, considering Ryan is a dj and KIIS FM LA really doesn’t play much Idol music, excluding Kelly and Jordin.

And can I just say as someone whose tastes trend more towards garage rock/indie pop and electronica that I freakin’ luuurve me some power ballads. It’s my musical guilty pleasure. So ridiculous, but I cannot resist (I even own those monster power ballad compilations).

Is it an overproduced, clichd, epic orgasm of disaster movie power ballad cheesetasticness? YES!!!

Is it going to be a HUGE, HUGE, HUGE HIT? Absolutely!

This video makes the song at least a million times better. When I first heard the clip I was like “Meh, it’s just okay”, but now it works so well with the video and does have a more epic feel to it.

I still think it sounds like a coronation type of song though .

Kind of the Aerosmith rip off I was expecting. I guess I’m the only one who laughed at the video. It’s so cheesy.

I think if you like Adam’s style you’ll dig the song.To my ears, he still gets too shrieky at the end. It’ll be interesting to see if this connects with an audience beyond the fan base.

Eh, not a fan. For being hyped as much as it has been, I would have figured this would have been much more then it is. Seems very generic and kind of dull. Im sure it will have as much success as the Glamberts push for it, but I doubt it will do much better then that.

I’ve been listening to the clip over and over. No one has a voice like Adam’s. Those notes he can hit, that tone, that range, he is truly unique. No wonder so many industry veterans, producers, writers, collaborators, reporters are so enthralled with his voice, he’s not ordinary. There is nothing ordinary about Adam, whatsoever, he is truly in a class by himself. No one will ever mistake his voice for anyone else’s, his uniqueness just shines through. It did on Idol and it does in both the snippet and the video. Love it.

I just love it and I have no doubt that it is going to be a monster hit worldwide. It’s a springboard to superstardom for Adam!

So many things to comment on – I’m not surprised at all that it isn’t liked by all but I’m not worried.

For one thing, it’s incredibly Adamesque… this is the power vocals that I personally adore so much. If the producers had wanted this vibe… had wanted this power in the song, I think they’ve made a perfect choice in choosing Adam. I don’t think there are many singers than can carry off a tune like that… then again people didn’t like Adam for his “shrieking”. But whatever rocks your boat, I call it power, they call it shrieking. mehs, I’ll love to shriek all day if I had 5% of Adam’s vocals.

Lyrics are cheesy though… haha wait until I hear the full song.

If this was his first single and based on that short clip, I’d put it after Kris and Allison’s. Their stuff seems more modern and this sounds too OTT. But I get that it’s for a cheesy disaster film and not for his album.

Only time will tell. Let’s hope that Adam, Allison and Kris get more listeners outside the idol bubble and that everyone loves them.

It may be both, I think. I thought I heard “love” in the audio-only version, and “us” at the end of the video clip version. Maybe it switches in the song?

I actually liked the song even better than I thought I would. And God knows, I thought I would. But srsly, the lower register, the upper register, the way it crescendos (was hoping it would). WOW.

Was the firestorm unsuccessful, and that is why Adam’s song is now being used to hype the film? Has it been edited, perhaps, or is it just that Adam will help sell tickets (which he clearly will). Win/win.

Yes, you’re right in assuming this won’t be on his CD. This will be on the movie soundtrack and released as a single.

Adam’s first CD is completely separate and will promote and reflect his own musical tastes and image.

Although he kills it with the earthy rock gawd image on TFM, I think.

I’m with Squirrely, no reason to apologize for not liking the song. People aren’t going to, especially those who don’t like Adam’s voice to begin with. I mean seriously, this song of all songs, isn’t going to suddenly make you stop not liking his voice. And again, fully recognize the downsides to it, predictable movie songage in lyrics, cheesey instrumentation, no doubt predictable crescendos will happen.

Yeah, it’s not ZOMG my favourite movie song evah!!1!1! Nor even my favourite Adam song and I think Brian May is wacked if he thinks this is anything special…beyond I do like Adam’s voice a lot in this. And it has some prettiness and fun! in it to me.

The operative part of this criticism is that it’s for a flick, NOT his first CD. He was asked to sing the featured song for what promises, no matter how cheesy, to be a blockbuster movie, and that was a HUGE honor for Adam. They could have asked any of the Idols, or anyone else in the music industry, for that matter, and they’d have jumped at the chance. But they didn’t… they asked Adam, and he did the amazing job they obvously knew he would. I don’t think it’s fair to compare this song with the first singles of the others’ CD’s. This is not his first single; It’s an added bonus that, in my opinion, will do nothing but help him in that it will further spread his name to peeps who might not yet be familiar with his music–just in time for his single to come out in a couple of weeks. He’s already promised that his CD will be upbeat and contemporary, so I think we should wait to hear that before making comparisons.

…and IMO there is nothing wrong with being an earthy rock god. I think one has more of a chance of a long lasting music career than a glittery alien. Adam could have said no to this song if he felt it didn’t fit the image he wanted to present to the world. He didn’t say no.

I love that we are getting two “single” from Adam because the way I see it, if you’re an Adam fan and it’s not your style, no worries, I bet he has something on his album that you will love (since he’s told us this is not representative of his album sound). If you’re not an Adam fan then I’m sure that hasn’t changed, nothing new there. If you don’t like his voice, you probably still don’t like his voice, same way I feel about some of the other idols, to each his own

The things I am most excited about are that this track does let his voice shine through, not over produced and no auto tuning in sight from what I hear, and this track is going to be heard by a whole lot of people who are not American Idol fans and probably have no idea of who Adam Lambert is, I see no bad in that kind of huge exposure to potential music buyers.

I used to hate that kind oif big bombastic rock ballad stuff, but I’ve really been getting into it here lately. That’s a good point. What with ratings being down and all, the Oscar folk may have to give this one the nod just ot be able to feature Lambert signing the thing live. You know that would be epic.

I can’t wait to hear more of the verse as well as the chorus. Sung in that velvet voice of his. Like the way he sounds on the final ‘us’.

Just got home…listened to the 30 second clip first…almost peed my pants ’cause it wasn’t at all what I was expecting and was mildly dissapointed. Then listened to the video clip…now I can breath!! I really like it and think it is perfect for the end of the world disaster flick.

If Adam wasn’t around who would they get to sing this…there aren’t a lot of male “rock” voices left that can go this high and still stay on pitch and sound good. I’m sure there are a lot of peeps associated with the movie who are glad Adam showed up.

By the way..the lyrics are utter “movie” cheese just like most of the big booming rock ballads out there that have been done for movies. But it sure doesn’t stop the vocalist from getting his pipes around the notes and melody.

I must say that if the online media is being so quick to pick this up that Adam really must touch a chord with a lot of people. They seem to really like the guy and are really rooting for him to succeed. You can’t buy that kind of endorsement…it’s got to come from the heart.

It may be both, I think. I thought I heard ‘love’  in the audio-only version, and ‘us’  at the end of the video clip version. Maybe it switches in the song?

I used to hate that kind of big bombastic rock ballad stuff, but I’ve really been getting into it here lately. Especially if the vocals kill. That’s what a song like that showcases. It’s good for Adam to get this mainstream exposure too. That future Oscar nomination for the song (though for the songwriter) doesn’t hurt either. Now if Adam starts singing Jim Steinman (remember that writer for Meatloaf?), we’ve got a problem with Adam’s marketability!

Oops, hyperbole on my part, but I read several comments saying either one or both “don’t like it.”

And “SICK” and “Weee!” from Jim C and “Good thing Adam Lambert has the vocal prowess to carry it off” along with some comments about the Bon Joviness and power balladiness of the song itself seem fairly complimentary, perhaps even a step above “meh,” while of course not all the way to “squee” like myself.

I guess I just think since the loss of the “See All” option on this blog, many people only go a couple pages back and the internet game of telephone is exacerbated, putting words into peoples mouths that they never said. I just didn’t want to see people start slamming on them as “Adam haters” or some crazy thing, since I don’t think that’s the case.

ETA: And maybe it struck me because I DID wade through the entire comment thread all at at once, since I came into this late, so it possibly stood out more for me.

I’m pretty sure the lyric is, ‘I ain’t giving up on US’. What do you all think?

I don’t think it was too late. During the bridge (that others have said – rightly – sounds a bit like Led Zep’s Kashmir) there is plenty of string orchestra work, at least to my ears. Perhaps that was the finishing touch they had to layer in before releasing the clips? Anyone else hear it?

And why would Sony Pictures retweet Adam’s tweet unless it was related. It’s got my vote as the song with the orchestra.

TFM must have been canned sometime ago, for it to be leaked today. The string is for the album. Besides Adam said it was for HIS song. This song is not his, it’s 2012′s soundtrack song.

I think a more tamer prediction is that people will be singing along to this in their car (*cough*) than that this will save the Oscars telecast. I think their plan to nominate 10 movies will help more.

They used TOML for the Summer Olympics last year so you never know. They do tend to go for these types of songs.

I know I’m in the minority, but I don’t really care for it. Way too much screaming which was actually the part of Adam’s performances that just didn’t do anything for me at all. However, it looks like it is perfect for the movie. I hope it does well.

He tweeted one of my songs meaning his album. The music video used the song which was mixed already. You don’t do this for a video you use a recorded song with the video over it. He stated that some of the songs written for his album are ballads and Red one said a couple are Queenish so strings fit right in.

Adam was definitely the best thing going on Idol last season but, judging by that clip, that song is hardly anything wonderful.

LOL. I was trying to be sarcastic. And failing. I agree with you. Predictions of this song saving the Oscar telecast is a tad premature. Although, I suppose that…er…enthusiasm… can be forgiven after such a long drought of new songs.

The song may very well be nominated (I’m never sure what qualifies so who knows what the competition is), but there is a lot that goes into the ratings of an Oscar telecast.

Well, I can’t speak for anyone else, but I was kidding. Fan enthusiasm was fully recognized for what it was in my posts. However, I really can see him doing the performance in front of the orchestra. That would be epic. I’m joking about saving the Oscars ratings and movie box office, but hey, I’m sure that every little bit helps when promotion is involved.

Ok guys – I’m back, and still shaking from the epic excitedness of FIANLLY getting our Adam leak Of course, it would have to happen JUST as RL came crashing down upon me – argh, such is life.

Ok, I know the song is cheestastic in a feel good, distaster movie epic sorta way. But DAMN – his voice is so freaking hot on that track! LOVE it! Yeah, he could sing just about anything (especially in that epic ballad sorta way) and just completely give me chills.

Nope they aren’t rerecording the song for Adam’s video. Wasted, wasted expense. He’ll be lip syncing (like they do in almost all videos) so that the music is the same as that on the soundtrack.

Besides Adam said for “one of his songs”. He has ALWAYS referred to TfM as the song HE DID for a movie soundtrack.

I’ll bet my life that this bit in the video clip we are seeing was done a long time ago. Things in record land don’t work as fast as people think they do. Besides, if the soundtrack has a lot of instrumentals only…they don’t keep calling orchestra session musicians back….everything was probably recorded at about the same time.

No, Adam has always referred to the soundtrack song as separate from his music. In every interview he has been clear to make that distinction. Even in the interview from the passive/aggressive girl.

Nope they aren’t rerecording the song for Adam’s video. Wasted, wasted expense. He’ll be lip syncing (like they do in almost all videos) so that the music is the same as that on the soundtrack.

I agree with Tess. I’ve never heard of a video being shot before the music track was completed. The song’s been in the can for a long time, there’s no way they’d get so close to release that they’re filming a video for it and then re-cut the song or add any music to it. The orchestra has to be for another song from his CD. And to be clear, I mean the vid shot in the street in the Korean ‘hood.

Not quite spinastory, it’s like a CAN of cheeze-whiz!

Adam sounds great. The song doesn’t sound particularly current to me, but it’s good to hear him on some new stuff. When does this movie come out? I saw the preview at the theater with my friend and it looks reeeeeally bad. The song is probably better than the movie. LOL.

And I am glad that I heard the video clip first because that audio clip would have really bummed me out. THAT sounded like a coronation song, but once those hard rocking instrumentals kicked in on the video and Adam layered his voice like that, WOW. I just have one thing to say to anyone who says THAT snippet sounds like a coronation song- You are F’in crazy.

I love this song so much. Adam did an amazing job on it and the it’s not a cover song and they didn’t auto-tune Adam’s voice so you can’t recognize him. All is so good.

No, different David Cassidy.

I don’t know about Idol TV ratings but I know the concerts sold well in a very terrible economy….I believe most of that has to be attributed to the Glittery Alien. I also think the ratings would have been much worse without Adam on the show. Quite frankly, I don’t think Idol will be the same but then I never watched it before so that’s just my opinion. Also, I don’t think he will save the Oscars but you have to give the boy some credit where it is due. The fact that he has the main song on a major movie soundtrack right after Idol was completed, and being the runner-up not the winner, is a pretty cool accomplishment.

I have listened to the song, I don’t know, about 50 times now. I cannot get it out of my head.

I do not care about the lyrics or the orchestration (this isn’t from HIS album). I do not care about the movie (tho I would like it to do well, naturally).

I care about that voice, that low register, the higher one, the falsetto, the glory notes, all of it. It just makes me happy. So happy.

And the reviews to date are good, too!!! Wait till we get all 4 minutes, 23 seconds of it.

Adam doesn’t sound like anyone else…didn’t we just say how unique his vocals are..you hear one note and you know it’s Adam. It’s a full out kick ass OTT rock malestorm. It sounds to me just the way he said it would, nothing less and a whole lot more..thank god (thank Rock God). I can for sure see him at the Kodak, in a beautiful black Cavalli (sp) jacket and jeans and rhinestones on his eyes bitches just bringing tears to their eyes and the house completely down. He has the balls and the talent to do just that. EVERYONE KNOWS IT !!!! Come on peeps…industry folks look at him, have watched him this past year and they are going OMFG…he is the REAL DEAL…..like a rock savant that doesn’t have a limit to his talent and fearlessness to push the envelope. But the truly AMAZING thing about Adam that makes him so mesmerizing is the realization that he just knows what makes the song great….give him any song and he will make it amazing. Case in point…that turd of a song NO BOUNDIARIES…listen to his studio recording…..first class. Had he won….that song would be a hit for sure. So yes, TFM is EPIC, but that is what is called for here….it’s the end of the F>>>>> world for God’s sake, nothing less will do and who is the voice to deliver that……well he just won second place on AI. Yes, just as I expected I’ve been listening and rewatching this short short snippet a gazillion times in a row tonight! I really love the sound in the vid! Just what I expected really – big, sweeping epic-y sound. Even from the brief clip the orchestration sounds rich and strong.

And it is indeed Adam’s AMAZING voice that makes that epicness even more epic! He can just pull it off, with such ease, and make it sound so beautiful!

If you listen to Linsdey Parker’s interview with Adam from the end of the tour, Adam was very specific that TfM was not representative of what his album will be like. He was very specific about distinguishing between the two types of music.

Well, the use of the orchestra on at least one track makes me think there will likely be something a little similar to TFM on his album – big sweeping ballad song.

And I’m an Adam fan, who, loving his voice, and loving SO many different sides of Adam, would be absolutely thrilled to have both electronic, dance pop music, with a little rock, and a big sweeping ballad all thrown into the mix (along with some gregorian chants for good measure )

The somewhat “cheesy/coronation song” type lyrics that we hear in the short snippet doest bother me as that’s what I was expecting for a movie soundtrack song . . especially for one that runs over the credits … for me, for you dawg, from what I’ve heard it’s the perfect song for a movie like this … a one that’s very commercial and has a hook that you can’t get out of your head and you go out the cinema singing it and you’re still singing it by the time you get home …. that’s what the movie makers want .. they don’t want you to be leaving the cinema disecting the deep and meaningful lyrics wondering about all the different possible interpretations of what the lyric are trying to portray .. they just want a catchy lyric and powerful sound that will still be ringing in someone’s ears when they get into bed and they’re still singing the next day.

It’s working for me as I can’t stop humming and singing it …lol

OK – I actually really really like this break down I know we talked before about having an eclectic album, but for me, with my tastes in music literally ALL over the map (touching upon just about everything you mention above), and as someone who gets way too bored listening to most albums all the way through because every song starts sounding the same, I would really really love it if the tracks broke down like this.

I am a disaster movie finatic. I have watched every earthquake, volcano, tornado, hurricane, asteroid, metorite, tsunami, and Godzilla movie that has ever been made. I love those movies and there is always a hero to save the day and the hero always need this cheesy ballad to play while he’s doing his thing. Adam’s vocals is so perfect for this type of movie. The first thing I thought of was Aerosmith, he reminds me so much of Steven Tyler. They couldn’t have chosen a better person to bring this song to life.

….but even that was a month ago. He has done a lot of recording these past few weeks. All I’m saying is that people should be open to the possibility that there will probably be some songs on the album that they don’t feel are representative of Adam. I’m sure there will be some I don’t like. I’ve never listened to an album where I like every single song. As much input as I hope Adam has on the CD, he won’t have the final word on what the final tracklist is. We won’t know for sure until the tracklist is released. In the meantime, I’m just going to bask in glory that is TFM.

Oh for the love of Christ – I spend all afternoon in traffic on 95 amd totally out of touch and finally log in on my Dad’s slow as hell computer and this CATEGORY 5 GLITTERCANE is released! I just assumed nothing would happen since it hasn’t for so long . . .what can I say . . I just love the song and he looks fantastic in the video. Yeah it’s big and a bit cheesy but in a great way. His voice is perfect for it. I really can’t think of anyone else who could even do it right now . Sebastian Bach maybe but I’m not sure he has the right emotional energy for it . .Steven Tyler when he was younger. Adam posesses the money note as refered to in the industry only a few have/had that honor. Celine, Whitney and Barbara. Adam is a businessman and I am sure he covered all the bases to benifit his

I totally thought of Adam’s performance of “Crying” when listening to this. Maybe all the talk of a soundtrack, IDWTMAT vibe sunk into my head. It’s a meh song that works perfectly to boom out over end credits after CGI crap was blown up. I’m sure the full song showcases Adam, and he showcases the heck out of the song.

Yeah, I’ve been a lurker…hanging around in outer space, waiting for 2012 and the end of the world to come around….I have to say this, and then I too need to put my head on a pillow somewhere. Before AI this past season when I just happened to catch a glimpse of Adam while surfing, I hadn’t been connecting or enjoying music much on a regular basis. In a rut I guess, a little depressed with all the crap going on. I have been on this “planet” for awhile you see. But Adam has literally changed all of that. He has touched my soul with his music and I will never be the same and that is a very very good thing. Having TFM and his CD to look forward to (and the videos….oh GOD the videos) is just plain FUN and it is SO GOOD to have some fun. I am pretty sure that is just what he wants. Thanks Adam and now I am going to slide around to the darkside and get some sleep. Goodnight and thanks everyone!!!!

Everyone keeps saying he’s singing ” ¦never give up on love’  I thought so too at first listening, but I think he’s really singing ‘never give up on US’  There’s a definite ‘sssssssssssss’  at the end of the song.

Anyone else hearing what I hear?

Yessssss, I hear it too. It’s definitely a different word at the very end. Not sure it’s “us” but it doesn’t sound like “love.”

I don’t think Kirsten’s post was a knock on Adam at all. There’s no proof that Adam’s run on Idol helped the ratings last year, that was her point. Idol has been declining in ratings since Season 5. No single Idol has been able to reverse that trend.

I am a disaster movie finatic. I have watched every earthquake, volcano, tornado, hurricane, asteroid, metorite, tsunami, and Godzilla movie that has ever been made. I love those movies and there is always a hero to save the day and the hero always need this cheesy ballad to play while he’s doing his thing. Adam’s vocals is so perfect for this type of movie. The first thing I thought of was Aerosmith, he reminds me so much of Steven Tyler. They couldn’t have chosen a better person to bring this song to life.

Me, too, and tomorow (Sat) SyFy Channel has most of those types of movies playing – I’m going to be in disaster flick heaven all day.

But, seriously, this song is all that a disaster flick producer could want and Adam’s vocals is just the whipped cream and cherry on top!

I would guess Kris pays royalties for LLWD in a way that is tied to sales of the album, not by performance.

Yes, but the main point is Paul McCartney has to pay a royalty FOR A SONG HE WROTE.

Well, his voice might be technically perfect, but his tone isn’t that great. I agree that Daughtry doesn’t have the range, but Archie’s beautiful vocals, may be as perfect, but I think they would sound much more beautiful.

MJ — my point was that no one knows either way — about either alternative past history or about the future. But there is substantial consumer research support that 2008 American Idol got a significant ratings boost because of the Writer’s strike — so comparisions between 2008 Idol and 2009 Idol make little sense. IMO Idol’s ratings have less to do with individual contestant and more to do with the entire competition reality drama.

And certainly Idol’s ratings decline doesn’t mean that specific Idol alums will be unsuccessful just because there were 20 million viewers this year vs. 25 million in a past year. If there was a correlation, Taylor would be huge right now.

Sydia, though I’m not a fan of Daughtry or Archuleta, I think they both have good voices. But maybe the film producers matched up persona as well. Adam + disaster film, i.e., stuff being blown up behind him for the music video, somehow makes sense. YMMV. From that Santa’s helper photo on Archuleta’s Christmas album, I can’t quite picture him tied to a disaster film. If TFM was sung by him but matched to a different film, yeah sure. I don’t know, maybe David Cook could have sung TFM for 2012 as well?

Yeah, the tone of Adam’s voice isn’t for everyone. He also can change the tone of his voice quite radically from song to song, which still mystifies me.

Hmm… except for Adam’s voice, I’m not impressed with the clip. Not my kinda song. Maybe I’ll change my mind after hearing the full song, but I hate power ballads.

The more I listen to the video the more in love I am with this song and Adam’s delivery of it.

He’s got that magic combination– velvet with an edge. Perfection with a tinge of raspiness.
A purely perfect voice without the little sandpapery edge would be too treacly.
A solely “rough-edged”voice would be, well, Daughtry.

Adam’s voice is like everything else about him– sublime, emotional, mesmerizing, and full of tantalizing contradictions.

The topic was whether or not the Oscars would want to have Lambert sing this song, A Time for Miracles, on their TV show, viz-a-viz other artists who have movie songs this year. I do not believe that includes other Idols, certainly not from this year, so that’s irrelevant.

Does the Academy often give nods to music for crappy films? I have no idea. 2012 sounds like a crappy film.

I don’t know, was Hustle & Flow considered a good film? I just want to hear the full song, in February come Oscar time, I’d like Adam to be on his worldwide tour, so screw the Oscars. He should be in Singapore or something, or hanging out in Berlin with Tokio Hotel. You know, promoting his album, not the crappy 2012 film beyond his duty of singing the song.

I liked it. But I didn’t think the song deserved an Oscar.

2012 may be a sucky film, we don’t really know yet, but TFM doesn’t suck. If it wins awards, good. I will enjoy it no matter what.
