Anyone who thinks Adam is not being groomed for major stardom and that RCA is letting him fail should probably prepare to be disappointed. This kid is about to explode to worldwide fame.

Ooh, I wonder if he’ll actually be in Times Square to perform on New Year’s Eve, or if he’ll perform at the pre-taped portion in L.A.? He’d be a good host for the L.A. part, too…I think Fergie hosted it one year and also performed! (I thought the Idol winner and runner-up usually perform on the FOX New Year’s special…)

Yes, I have been hoping for an SNL appearance myself. According to Wikipedia (I know not the most reliable source, but quick for my purposes) the musical guest for December 5 and December 19 is still TBA. Those dates would both be great for him and fit right into his promo schedule it seems!

I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FROM THE START!!!!! Adam and RCA knew what they were doing. I believe they started this before the season ended. Nice to see, once again, that it is coming…..

Definitely don’t want him going first – he’d be completely forgotten after Gaga, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z, etc. And I don’t think he’ll get cut off – that never happens with these award shows – they just run overtime and the news is delayed. But if you’re taping definitely set the time to run over.

This was discussed in the other thread. I’ve never seen an award show cut off a performance. NEVER. They delay the late local news. There is no way in hell they are going to cut Adam’s performance, not after the way they’re hyping him in all their promo online and on television. I just saw another commercial for the AMA’s that focused on only 10 performers. Adam was one of them. In addition, isn’t usually the last thing on these awards is the Song of the Year award anyway, not a performance??

SNL and Oprah

I don’t think Oprah’s going to happen. At least not this year. Her last show of the year was filmed today and I find it hard to believe that if he’d done a taping they’d be able to keep it quiet.

No, he won’t get cut off. They keep running till 12:30 if they need to (b/c they usually have the big award at the end, like performer of the year or something).

I’m just…I’m seriously welling up now. I kid you not. I wanted this so badly for Adam, and we get to enjoy the ride. I don’t even know what to tape anymore. Does anyone have a list?

I’m really sorry if this is off topic or not, but I put my name in a lottery for David Letterman taping tickets for Nov. 23rd for Adam’s performance taping that will air on the 25th. However there are two tapings happening that day! Does anyone know which one would be Adam’s?

There’s like an 11am taping and a 4pm taping. I put down for the 4pm taping, but now I’m afraid I might have put down for the wrong one! eeeeek! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The interview that says he is closing the show was from before 2012 was released. Was Whitney announced at that time? Maybe they added her late, and she will be closing and Adam will be right before her?

Barbara Walters is a nice thing. But it’s not the in-depth 4 people at Oscar time thing she does. It’s 10 people. 9 featurettes and a “Most Fascinating Person”. Last year the one with the mostest is now our President.

The other 9 in 2008 were Will Smith, Tina Fey, Sarah Palin, Michael Phelps, Miley Cyrus, Rush Limbaugh, Frank Langella, Tom Cruise, and pregnant man Thomas Beatie. Mixed company to say the least.

This is an hour show, lop off 18 minutes for commercials, openings, credits, hello, good-bye and there’s 42 divided by 10, though it won’t be equal. So we’ll get something, but a lovely, long Oprah interview will be better.

However, the promos, will be good PR during album sale time.

Billboard cover must be a photo composite, cause Kris looks much taller and beefier than usual – guess they shrank Adam so they could fit them both on the cover. LOL

After Album, AMA show, Rockin New Year’s Eve and Barbara Walters, about the only things left on my Adam Lambert wish list are:

I’m sorry… but I can’t help giggling. In the past few months, I’ve heard so much “this happens every year, he’s nothing special”…

I said it in my tour review, I’ll say it again now:

I believe that Adam is in the same league as Lennon, MJ, Elvis, Sinatra, Madonna, Steven Tyler and of course Freddie. They are all artists who’ve been controversial, and they’ve all had longevity (unless of course you count dying young, RIP Elvis, Lennon, MJ, Freddy).

I predict that Adam Lambert will become the most successful Idol ever. It may not happen overnight, mind you. He’s not going to sell 10 million albums in a month. But he’s going to blast his way into America’s collective consciousness in the next few weeks, and he’ll stay there.

He’ll be iconic.

The 11 am taping is normally for the show that airs that day while the 4 pm is recorded for airing on a later day. Adam’s performance is listed to occur on Wednesday, so the 4 pm is likely the correct one.

It also makes sense from a logistics point of view. 11 am is possible, but it doesn’t give him a lot of breathing room to get to New York (with the flight and time difference) after performing on the AMAs. 4 pm is a more sensible schedule.

Carrie was but differently….She had all those Sketchers ads all over the place and was on every talk show multiple times. They also gave her CD away for tons of promo’s for products or services. (I know because I filled out every application possible to get her CD and eventually did)(at the cost of a million spams and constant ads in my e-mail account. Was well worth it). Don’t really know about Daughtry. I did not follow his every career move like I do with Carrie and Adam. (Though I bought his Albums)

Prostituted? As in pimped? Well, however you put it, no Idol has had this much media buzz IMHO. As far as selling like Carrie and Daughtry, that remains to be seen as it is still early in the game. To me Carrie and Daughtry are both mainstream, one mainstream pop country and one mainstream pop rock. Neither one does it for me, but they have plenty of fans so I can’t argue with success.

Aw. Thanks to you and sr4mjc. Very kind of you both.

I know how crazed I get–wait till Monday–but the *second* I saw his audition, I just *knew* it. (I felt that way about Daughtry and Cook as well…I didn’t watch other season auditions.) There was something so special, not just about his singing but about his connection with others (remember he praised Paula and then kissed her and Kara and fist pumped Randy; Simon, not so much.) So I just thought, I don’t know, but this going far. I can’t say I thought he’d go Top 2 (e.g., there was RoF), but once he did MW, I was like, Yep, finals for him. And then…well…aside from having every one of his performances and most interviews on my DVR and buying all the magazines and posting all the time and having ppl make fun of me at work constantly…well, I just felt like this guy is SO SPECIAL. And he truly is. Iconic!Adam.

And I guess he worried (I worried) about his promotion by RCA/19. Bad/me. This time, talent won out.

I don’t know where sidewalkstory is, but I would love to go to some event at some point…

Ya know, I actually agree with you. My husband, who’s really not an Adam fan (he’s not anti-, just indifferent and probably REAAAALLLLY sick of hearing about him, LOL!) has this pat saying, “[He's gonna be] bigger than Madonna” every time I talk about something that’s happening in he news. Thinking he was really just trying to placate is crazy wife and shut me up, I actually asked him recently if he was serious, and he said he really was, that there hasn’t been anyone quite like him in years. I, of course, knew this, but hearing it from someone who isn’t as biased as me was really encouraging. I actually think it’s good that he’s having a slow but steady rise to fame, like a snowball gradually increasing mass as it rolls along. Part of the problem on Idol, I thought, was that the judges crammed him down all the viewers’ throats. As much as I loved everything he did, I cringed when they went on and on with their hyperbole, knowing that there were many out there ready to regurgitate with each over-the-top (albeit often warranted) word of praise. I know we’re hearing a lot about him now because we check in daily with a site that gives up-to-the-minute news, but many in the general public either haven’t yet heard about him or only know vaguely who he is. I don’t want the same over-exposure that can turn people off to happen this time around.

Well, if all this promo doesn’t work, then we can’t say RCA didn’t give it one helluva shot. They must have some numbers to back all this up. So what costs them out of pocket money, does the AMA performance come out of their pockets? What about the other appearances?

At least we now know that Adam’s rollout cannot be compared to any other AI. Maybe we can stop handwringing. I know that past AI watchers have plenty of wisdom to pass along based on history of past AI’ers but this year sure seems different ‘“ Adam is changing AI history.

Yes I agree that he is getting special treatment (which I think he deserves ) but I really think its because he is the exception to the rule. I dont think hes changing AI history per se even though he might inspire ppl who otherwise would not have tried out to do so, but I think he used AI as a platform and I dont think we will be seeing a performer like him anytime soon. This was certainly a very special occasion. He performs like no other; whether you love him or you hate him, you gotta admit hes different. IMHO.

Yesterday at about 11 AM I broke my laptop screen. I went into complete “I need Adam news continously” panic..I went on the internet at work (forbidden) looked around ebay (even more forbidden) and finally found a screen. I ordered it from work (forbidden x3). It came today, less than 24 hours later. AND.. I installed it myself, in record time. Not easy with all the little screws and my inability to see anything up close. But Adam brings out my inner teckie-geek. And I am JUST IN TIME to read/watch all the great Adam news today, on my shiny, bright new screen!

The way Adam poses for photos sometimes reminds me of Constantine. It’s the pouty snarl, I think.

I know how you feel suebrody. I am thinking about going on a six hour round trip bus ride, missing the first several hours of my son’s return from college, and possibly getting stuck in Thanksgiving traffic to attend his GMA concert. Does anyone have any idea how long he will actually perform?

Good luck to Carrie and Daughtry who are nominated at the American Music Awards this weekend. It promises to be an amazing night for 19′s talent with Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert all taking part. It will be Adam’s first post American Idol TV performance and he will be closing the show. The AMA’s are broadcast on ABC between 8-11pm PST on Sunday 22 November.

The cover photo is beautiful. The back photo on the liner notes is the one with the metal glove on and it is mesmerizing. I would buy the wole album just to get that photo. I flipped my album notes around. Back cover of the CD box is Michelin Man and it is really cool. It is done as a cartoonized photo and is set in outer space. See how isolated things should never be leaked? I wonder if the guy that leaked that has been black balled?
There is a sticker on the outside of the wrapping that says:

Wow, the the awesome news just keeps coming. Like will I still have not listened to the album. Did not order from AO so I will be waiting until Monday when I go buy it. The good news is that I have 40 hrs of vacation time to use before the end of the year and my boss decided next week would be the best time to take them. That means Monday morning I can send the kids to school and daycare and enjoy Adam all by myself the first few listens.

I just got a little nervous about the AMAs. I wasn’t yesterday. Just watched the Taylor swift episode of SNL on my TiVo and in one of the skits they asked her about the AMAs and she said it was a lot of pressure. Of course Adam has been performing much longer and can actually sing live. But closing, wow oh wow. I don’t know how he doesn’t get nervous. Even the first tour date he was figuring it out and look how good he was by the end of the tour.

I’ll still be jumping up and down on Sunday night in excitement. Knock it out of the park bb!

OMG, that sounds WONDERFUL! Good for you! I’m also happy to hear about people who are fans and still haven’t purchased. We can guess that he’s already done at least pretty well with pre-sales, so I love thinking about all the people who didn’t want/feel the need to pre-order and will be adding to those totals come Monday!

I’m so nervous for him but I honestly don’t think Adam is nervous at all. Excited? Yes!! Absolutely, but he probably has more lifetime accumulated hours on stage than anyone else who is going to perform on Sunday! He is sublimely confident onstage! It’s his fans who get nervous and can’t stop mothering him. We’re all so invested in him–it’s kind of funny.

Wow what a loser, that is insane. There is no way that person is an Adam Lambert fan, that has to be fake. Makes me wonder if all the super annoying hyperbole I read that makes me dislike Adam is fakers doing it on purpose.

Squirrely, I had to laugh at that review.

I’ve realized after reading so many of these reviews that very few of these reviewers can look past their expectations of him based upon the things they loved on idol. The songs that exemplify the parts they liked are good or great. The others have something wrong with them. What’s really interesting is you can tell which parts of Adam’s voice and/or personality that appealed most to them. It really makes me wonder about the crap shoot it is for an artist to have an album reviewed. Most of these reviews give the album overall a good grade but other than that it’s mostly random as to which were the favorites and most disliked. I’m thinking the variety sounds on the album is actually helping the album overall get good grades and very few Fs because they all get to hear a few songs that have what they want.

I was lying in bed this morning listening to Master Plan for the 80th time (I know, I know, I’m not a real fan as I’m not in the 1000′s yet, but I do want to stay gainfully employed) and I had my iPhone and wrote this most amazing post (trust me here)–insightful, heartfelt, etc. which is hard to do typing on an iPhone while reclining (Don’t know how Kris sang his song that way). Then I hit submit, and nada, nothing, it didn’t go.

So, this is totally late to the party, but the gist of the message now out somewhere near Adam’s cover in space, is that RCA must be really, really excited (ka-ching, ka-ching) because not only is Adam hard-working, he’s willing to promote himself, and push himself. (This was much better this morning.)

I think the visual promotion is such a good idea–why not let the entertainer perform? I also think that Adam is taking all kinds of risks (some with RCA money, some with Sony $, and probably much of his own “advance money,” that’s what we call it in publishing anyway. It is so great to see somebody this hard-working, intelligent, well-spoken, and with a mature business sense that has paid his dues and learned so much along the way, be poised for success.

That’s my story, and I stuck with it all day, although, really, this morning, I was truly expressive and… Not as witty as anthro, or as fact filled as Q3, or no rhymed poem (Sue Brody), or rousing cheer, but my fingers have been burning all day to express this.

Hoping to get my “real” CD before I leave for Pittsburgh on Tuesday–6 hours alone with Adam. Truly Heavenly.

No, I’m flailing away too (late as usual), I am so happy for him and kind of envious of people who have their copy of his CD already!!!

I know happy, happy, joy, joy for Adam!!! But angsting over where my CD is. Will the postman deliver it tomorrow? Monday? Or later? Yeah, it supposedly shipped yesterday. But w/my post office it might be Wed b4 it gets here. And I put my stereo system together and everything. I tested with my O.M.D. cd to be sure the sound was still good and now, I’m waiting, listening to the stream on my tinny little laptop speakers. The trauma. It be damaging to my psyche.

This isn’t the first time he’s been on the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE stage — the American Idol finale was held there earlier this year. What’s different for Adam this time?

“It’s similar, in that there are a lot of expectations, and the cameras are on, and the pressure is on. But I think now the creative freedom is a little different. Now I’m doing original music and promoting my own album and I had a lot to do with this performance from the ground up, from working with the choreographer and the stylist and the band and the musical director — I had a hand in all of it. Whereas with Idol, it’s so last-minute, and it’s such a finely-tuned machine that a lot of it is done for you.”

Aha-so that’s what Adam has been doing these past couple of weeks!

I just want to add that, fan as I am, I was not won over when Adam’s album started streaming. I have simple music taste, and hardly any background re musical influences and stuff…. But I’ve been listening and I love what Adam has done. It is like Tuesday’s nights. I am a bit confused by the persona Adam has presented as of late, but, bottom line, he puts himself out there and delivers. I love it.

Since I first fell under his spell while singing ‘Black or White’ on AI I have spent my days scouring the the web for Adam tidbits. Some days are wrought with frustration, and some days, like today, take me into a state of bliss. Now waiting for the AMA’s on Sunday I am seriously teetering on a nervous breakdown. Its live! I worry for him. I hope for him. How and why this man did this to me I do not know…but if I am still this RABID five years into his career I do believe I will die young. I have loved AI since Kelly and Justin. I have adored idols some people hate and diss, and I always ended my idolatry with the end of the season. I can’t do that with Adam. I watch his AI performances and good tour videos over and over. What note he hit in my heart eludes me…but the bell can not be unrang. The night his CD started streaming online caused me to call in sick the next day because I couldn’t stop listening to it! I hope Adam takes a vacation soon…I need some rest.

With this level of buzz and saturation if he doesn’t debut between 200K & 300K, it’s gonna be a failure.

Oh, I don’t want to put numerical expectations on either Adam or Kris, particularly when stats are showing that NO ONE, even the established hot artists, are performing the same this year as they have others. Let’s wait to see how their respective labels think they’re doing. They’ll know what’s staying afloat in this market and what’s not and will respond by sending them on tour and/or retaining them for future efforts. I just really think that any other year, both boys would have done much better right off the bat. I truly think they’ll both make their mark; it’s just going to take a little longer in these economically difficult times.

Wow what a loser, that is insane. There is no way that person is an Adam Lambert fan, that has to be fake. Makes me wonder if all the super annoying hyperbole I read that makes me dislike Adam is fakers doing it on purpose.

That’s what I meant. I think it is definitely people posing as fans to make them look bad. I think the ones calling the radio stations and harrassing them are also “anti” fans because most of the fan bases know not to do that.

Only in theory. So far it just reads “shipping information received”. Past experience tells me it’ll still say this the day it is delivered. Then sometime late that evening it’ll change to “delivered”. Not terribly helpful. Pox! on the USPS.

Pretty much his whole life, Adam has been performing LIVE. He’s performed at the Nokia twice, final competition night and finale night. He sang with KISS and Queen. I am not nervous for Adam at all. If he is nervous it will be the good kind that just makes you do your best.
My only worry was the quality of the album and that fear was gone about about 4 days ago!

I didn’t think so. I translated to simpler musical arrangement, less synth, fewer intruments. Liking a simpler sound doesn’t make you arrogant. Not does liking a more complex one make us arrogant (allow it can).

Nope. I pulled out Architecture and Morality. It’d been so long since I played it, I forgot what the first song was (New Stone Age) and had a mild panic attack that my speakers were damaged until about 10 seconds in when I breathed again.

I don’t think the Hudson Theatre seats 1200 people. When it was originally built it had a seating capacity of close to 1100 but it has been remodeled and no longer has that many seats. From what I’ve been able to find out on the internet, the max capacity is between 500 and 700. I can’t find a more exact number but I’m leaning towards the 500 figure.

Also, I’m not quite ready to believe the Billboard article about Adam closing the show. That article was written a number of weeks ago and the lineup could easily have changed since then. It’s possible that the UK article simply repeated what was said in Billboard without confirming the info with other sources.

I hope it’s true because closing the AMAs is a huge honor but I’m going to wait for further confirmation before I take it as a fact. However, whether Adam closes the show or not isn’t going to change my excitement about seeing him perform next Sunday in my living room.

Yep. Im still concerned because I want Adam to do well but I will never consider him to be a “failure”. OUCH just having ti write that word in association with him hurts. I swear it does.

I think it will be too cold outside, not just for the people attending but also for Adam’s voice.

I know this is mean, but if Danny Gokey comes to MJ’s he must be pissed that every Adam post reaches 300 comments or so and posts about him never break a 100. I mean that in a godly way.

No, artists have to pay back with their share of the profits. All these performances, etc, are made with money the labels give in advance.

I noticed in all of the interviews, Adam talks about being in his seat as long as possible , able to watch the other performers, and he names a lot of them-sure sounds like he’s performing later in the show, if not last.

Good luck to Carrie and Daughtry who are nominated at the American Music Awards this weekend. It promises to be an amazing night for 19′s talent with Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert all taking part. It will be Adam’s first post American Idol TV performance and he will be closing the show. The AMA’s are broadcast on ABC between 8-11pm PST on Sunday 22 November.

Rihanna is performing on GMA on Tuesday – but I can’t tell if her’s is outside or not. Not sure what to think about Adam’s being in the theater. I’m inclined to think he will have a big crowd, bigger than the capacity of the theater, plus the Today Show said that the day before thanksgiving is one of the biggest all year for the music acts because of all the tourists in town for the Macy’s Day Parade the next day. Today Show has Bon Jovi on Wednesday, another biggie.

Back again. In the day, I thought my $85 Idol ticket (with charges, and only 12th row) was too high. BUT NOW…not so much. I am prepared to spend a great deal of money to go to his Glam Tour. I am not going to GMA since it will only be for two songs, three max, and no guarantee of admission (and no inexpensive place to stay). But for his TOUR: I will travel and I WILL get great seats, money be damned.

RL may not be all that interesting, but it is very encompassing. They are around every now and then, but terraj and Sunn are a bit out of our time zone. Of course, they do appear from time to time on PF in the chat room.

plus the Today Show said that the day before thanksgiving is one of the biggest all year for the music acts because of all the tourists in town for the Macy’s Day Parade the next day. Today Show has Bon Jovi on Wednesday, another biggie.

The morning shows are MOBBED the wednesday before thanksgiving….there are tons of kids in town to perform in the macy’s parade and they ALL seem to go to watch the mornings shows on wednesday morning….

How much is he expecting too sell? I would only thought 110 ‘“ 120 but I guess it wouldn’t be to shocking if he got up to 170 ‘“ 180. Where are these predictions?

Well since I’m still annoyed at John Mayer’s numbers from last week, I’ve decided that Adam will out sell him. Put me down for 325k-350k. There’s no money on this, right?

Oh, and I wouldn’t call any of the numbers we hear predictions. They’re all just guesses as far as I know.

If Adam’s numbers are predictions only: I’ll say, for sure, that he sold at least (1), mine…and probably 20 or so from people here who have posted. After that it is a crap shoot, especially since his single has (as being reported here) bitten the dust and died! [snark...snark]

Hopefully he will sell a 100,000 his first week, will go gold eventually, and will be platinum before his “next” album comes out.

What would be considered a disappointment in the 1st week? 100? 150k? 200k? 250? Im afraid if Adam sells anything less than 300k, many would consider that a disappointment and predict he gets dropped by May.

I was really excited for the GMA appearance since I live less than 10 blocks away. I figured I could just roll out of bed and head on over for 6:00am. LMAO!
