Adam Lambert announces his next single from his album Trespassing, via twitter!

He tweets, “My next radio single is TRESPASSING written by @Pharrell and myself. “make their faces crack, there’s no turning back”

To promote “Trespassing”, Adam tweeted deets on a new contest, “A contest for all you fans! Send me videos of u performing ‘Trespassing’. Lip-synch, sing, dance and dress up! Prizes to be announced.?

“More details to come… Cover art and radio add date… All in good time.”

    So you think the label decided to let a random radio station casually announce Adam’s new 3rd critically career impacting single on a Tweet? OK. I disagree.

    I really like Trespassing, even well enough to purchased it (only one from the album). I’m a huge funk fan so this song is right up my alley.

    Having said that, there is a very dated feel to this song to me (like a 90′s dance tune), as are many songs on the album, so I am very curious how Trespassing does on the charts.

    I think how post-Idol music works for me is, in general, if it isn’t one of my favorites it’s a single. Heh. Of course that might just mean I’m completely out of touch with popular music… ok, I am. So that might mean good things on the radio for this song ;) 

    (I love Shady & Cuckoo as far as upbeat songs off the album go.)

    Trespassing is Adam’s “Song of Myself”: it’s rock but it’s beat, it’s
    defiant but it’s joyful, it’s in-your-face but it’s affirmative.

    Musically, it’s an incredible synthesis of so many different muscial
    genres: rock, folk, protest, Broadway, rockabilly and rap (in a
    Dylaneque “Positively 4th Street sort of way.) It is a melange of sounds
    that only two such disparate artists as Adam and Pharell could have
    come up with. For me it is magic.”
    Perfect description of this song. Looove the 90′s? synth sounds and Adam’s voice has such a terrific rock edge on it. Shady is my favorite of the up tempos but this song is amazing too. I really hope it gets the attention it deserves from radio but after the first two singles had it so rough it is not going to be easy. Just hoping for the best!

     I think the tweet was certainly a mistake.  But the playlist add and intention to play the song mere days later was certainly not a mistake.  And Adam didn’t announce it himself until the station had added the song and intended to play it (both of which the label undoubtedly knew)…in my opinion that tweet revealing the name of the single was really no big deal.  It certainly will have no impact on the performance of the single, promo, Adam’s career, or anything else for that matter.

    Personally, Im tired of worrying about “radio friendly”. F that. :) Either they are gonna play the song or they’re not. Trespassing is different. Its all in the hands of the PDs and TPTB. No one really knows what constitutes a “sure fire hit”. The least likely songs become hits. Its time for Adam to stop playing it safe and go for it. I agree Trespassing should have been the lead single. Oh well. Hoping it fares better than the last 2. And also glad that Adam tweeted the fan vids have nothing to do with a music video.
