This is totally a rumor peeps. A RUMOR. Don’t go posting this around the internet as if it were fact. Boston’s Kiss 108 fired up the Adam Lambert fans when it broadcast this little piece of gossip this morning:

via Idol360:

They just said on Kiss 108 Boston’s morning show during the entertainment report, that Lady Gaga was “reaching out” to Adam Lambert. This comes shortly after Kanye West backed out of the “Fame Kills” tour with Gaga. Gaga says she is determined to tour with or without West. This is still in the “Rumor” Phase. But to hear it on the radio is a good sign.

I didn’t hear it myself, but the report has been verified by some other Bostonians who heard it. Just so you know, radio station gossip peeps get their rumors from the same place as everybody, by trolling the internet.

Having said that, it’s not unprecedented for Idols to open for more established stars. Daughtry toured with Bon Jovi, Jordin Sparks with Alicia Keys and the Jonas Brothers. Gaga may decide to tour with an established artist like Kanye. She’s only burst on the scene recently–like Adam, she’s a developing artist herself. But, I don’t think these two, who have the same flair for the theatrical and the outrageous, would be a bad fit.

What do you think? Would you buy tickets to a Gaga/Adam concert? I would.

What? From what I learned in the headlines thread, Adam is such a huge star, he would get co-billing with Gaga or maybe even headline!

  • DLee

    Yes, I would.

  • dhunken

It may be interesting to have Gaga and Adam tour together, and I think it would definitely be one of the top concert tours. Personally I would much rather see Adam tour with Queen or Muse.

  • DLee

    Gaad or Adga?

  • elw

I want Adam solo, hours and hours of only HIM! :)

  • auntieaimee

I might go only if they were to hand out plastic ponchos on the way in the door, a la Blue Man Group. Oh, and if someone else paid.

No, I don’t think these two need to go on tour together. I want to see Adam all by himself, not be part of some kind of freak show. Lady Gaga is entertaining in some doses, but I would absolute gag if I had to go see her circus so I could get maybe 30 to 45 minutes of Adam. He doesn’t need to become Lord Gaga, he needs to be just Adam.

  • sma11ie

I’d go if it were really cheap and in my town :) . I appreciate Gaga for what she does, but I’m not *that* into her (similar general feelings about Adam). She came recently and I didn’t see it cuz I was being cheap. But I got to see an Of Montreal show for free, and even though I’m not into that kinda show normally, the theatrics and insanity were pretty fun. So I’m open to it.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

If this was so, I would definitely go

  • alaadam

It wouldn’t matter who Adam performed with….if I get to see more Adam…I’m game! Shoot, look at the money I paid to see him for 20 minutes with 9 others that I cared less about (except Allison).

  • http://www.twitter.com/sarahruth3 Sarah

Yes. I was going when she was going to tour with Kanye. I’d be even more likely to go if Adam opened for her.

Lady Gaga may not be “established,” per se, but she’s on her way to having her 4th radio hit in a little over a year. Her show at the Orlando HOB sold out pretty quickly, iirc. I think she’s a pretty big draw by herself.

I’m a huge Adam fan and I don’t want this. Adam needs to be exposed to people outside of the Idol bubble or he’s never going to expand his fanbase. I think opening for an established act, whether that’s Gaga or not, is the best route to go. Selfishly, I’d love to have a solo tour, but to expand fanbase, opening is the way to go. I’d hate for him to have some solo tour with only the Idol faithful attending and sorry, end up in Clay Aikenville.

  • Natasha

I think they’d be a good match and I’d pay to see it.

To everyone who thinks Adam should tour solo, he may be all that in the Idol universe but touring with an established star like Lady Gaga would give him the opportunity to pull in fans from outside the Idol bubble. This is what he needs to do – make no mistake about it.

  • jpfan

Well it does kind of make sense. On the other hand, I’m getting the feeling that Adam’s fanbase isn’t all too into Gaga. And I doubt she’d appreciate a bunch of fans leaving after his set.

The other downside is being on tour limits alot of the promo he’ll need to do for the album.

  • jumpstart

Most definitely. I’m really not into Lady Gaga, but the performances alone would be epic.

  • CindyM

What? From what I learned in the headlines thread, Adam is such a huge star, he would get co-billing with Gaga or maybe even headline!

You exaggerate, it was what, one or two people who said that? I saw 5 x that number pooh pooh the idea..LOL.

  • ALYESKA2

Not really! Even if they seem are a good fit, it might boarder on over-kill! Personally, I’m looking forward to a solo Adam tour that will showcase all that he is and all that he could be. He really doesn’t need to open for or with anyone else. He has stated he would love to work with Lady GaGa but I think he meant in a creative studio recording way. Just my personal opinion! In a very short time after his album release, he will be waaaaay bigger than just about anyone else out there! I’m saving my money for one of the best seats in the house for a solo show!

  • abbysee

Yep, I’d be interested in going. I think it would be the must see tour. This rumor’s been hanging in the air for a while now. And he doesn’t have to be Lord Gaga to tour with her, no more than Kanye would have been.

Ummm no, I’m sure it’s not true. This is the guy that is the gay-porn dude who made up all kinds of rumors during the tour about Adam and said that he was going to reveal all about the love affair between Kris and Adam.

  • Studio57

I just want some damn music. I don’t care if he tours solo or with someone as long as it’s longer than 20 minutes, but I think it could only be a good thing if they toured together. She was the hottest artist to come out this year- how can that be a BAD thing? They are both such visual artists, it would be one hell of a show, I think. I would never go see a Gaga show on her own, but I actually loved her performance on the VMA’s.

So I guess I’m team Gadam.

  • star

DO WANT Gaga and Adam touring together! :D

I’ve had Gaga’s cd since it came out last fall, and I’m seriously not sick of it yet. It’s good driving music, and my favorite songs change all the time (right now it’s “Starstruck”).

  • CrazyCircle

Who am I kidding? I’m just going.

Thought the same thing! He could open for Scott and I’d be there’ ¦

I’m sorry, but this is funny…

ETA: I went to the Tour and was happy to get to hear Kris and Matt. However, I wouldn’t have gone if Adam hadn’t been there (and he only got 20 minutes!). And there is NO WAY Adam is going to be able to do a solo tour initially. He doesn’t have his own band and the kind of theatrics he wants to do would not be affordable (yet). Tho not a bit GaGa fan, after seeing her on SNL on Saturday night, I was impressed by her singing skills (as opposed to what I heard on SYTYCD this past season or at the VMAs; ick).

  • Squirrely

What? From what I learned in the headlines thread, Adam is such a huge star, he would get co-billing with Gaga or maybe even headline!

No he wouldn’t get co- billing and I don’t think he would want it, but I’m sure he would jump at the chance to tour with Lady Gaga. No matter how he’s billed if this was to happen it would be a huge for Adam.

ETA: Also I would camp out in the rain for tickets!

Opening for Gaga would seriously be the best thing Adam could do right now.

A solo tour would not be. To think that he could have a huge solo tour with all the production values he wants, right out of the gate and with zero non-Idol fans right now is delusional.

  • http://www.wholisticbirthways.net austinmidwife

With suebrody here. If Adam’s there, I’ll be there. Anything within a 3 hour travel distance, I’ll pay the money, I’ll drive the distance. I love the man. I’m showing up.

That being said I’m not really a Gaga fan, so I might have to leave after his set. But, being billed with someone who is doing quite well on her own is a great way to get out of the idol bubble, which I think is great.

Something else too, I just spent the weekend at the Austin City Limits Festival and I was surprised at the number of singers and acts who have the whole electronica/funk/rock dance vibe going on. There were also at least three male singers who had that same falsetto vibe that Adam can do so beautifully. In one of his interviews a long time ago, he mentioned that he felt like his style was a part of a wave of stuff that was happening in music, and after what I heard and saw this weekend, I think he was right.

  • ravengirl

I read once somewhere about someone famous (read: money to go to whatever concert they like) taking their daughter to a Gaga concert in NYC and how they absolutely loved it because it was so fun. Madonna maybe?

She is theatrical, performance art, out of the box and I have to say her songs are catchy (I have Paparazzi in my head right now, darn it). Scratch all that away like they did on SNL and she really does have a damn good voice.

To add Adam to the mix, who is all of that– theatrical, performance art, out of the box, great voice and, we hope, great songs, would make one fantastic concert– and I’d jump at the chance, even if it meant driving hundreds of miles again to Glendale as I did for the Idols tour, and that for 20 minutes of Adam.

Though most of us here think Adam walks on water and is already a superstar even without a single note of his new music released, I do think he needs to tour with someone else with a little more name recognition and outside the Idol bubble. Just keeping it real, peeps.

Gaga, IMO, would be perfect. Sign him up!

Wasn’t this tour supposed to be starting soon? Have the tickets already been sold? If so It’d be ABSURD to throw Adam into it leaving his entire fanbase scrambling for secondhand tickets.

I’m not against the Adam/Gaga thing, just not if it went down like this.

  • suebrody

    Wait till luv gets here…

And yes, this is the BEST way to get Adam out of the Idol bubble. Even ppl who don’t watch Idol know who Lady GaGa is. Introduction to the Touring World: win/win.

That said, I am trying not to get too excited. TFM roadblock, anyone? I have already had my hopes dashed once in the past week. ;)

  • mmb

i don’t think adam and gaga is such a great idea…for one thing, he will constantly be referred to as lord gaga…gaga is a new artist herself and who knows whether she will have any staying power or be a flash in the pan….i think there is a risk in becoming too associated with another artist…Adam obviously will be opening for someone, and not touring on his own, and as much fun as an Adam /Gaga concert would be, i’m not sure it is the right move

  • 4evrmomof4

As much as I absolutely love Adam, this economy is poor, ticket sales are down. With the costs of putting together a quality touring show, Adam will need to tour with someone the first time around to be economically successful, otherwise it reflects solely on his shoulders….

We could spend all day fantasizing about who we would love to see Adam on tour with. However, I must once again fall back on my trust of Adam, his intelligence and his good instincts to drive him forward in this crazy business. If he ends up on tour with Lady Gaga, it will make him happy and expose him to a whole new set of people.

Personally, I think he can sing circles around her, even though there is a good voice under all theatrics that she puts forth. So maybe it wouldn’t be so great for her because he might upstage her. I’ve seen it happen before where the opening act is surprisingly better than the main event, and I think there is potential for that here, no matter who he tours with.

  • Adamme

I guess I need to make it clear.

US tour: I don’t care if he’s touring with GaGa or solo or other artists, I just want to see him

Europe/International: Robbie & Adam would be great

  • IdolThoughts

Hells to the Yeah I would see Lambert and Gaga. That would be quite the spectacle!!! She is extremely gifted. Yes…ridiculous…but when you listen to her piano and vocal abilities…she’s a pretty incredible artist. And the glittery one would be eaten up (in a good way) by her established fanbase. Sounds like a match made in heaven. Can’t wait for Perez to get wind of this so we can find out one way or another. He loves to talk about Gaga and Glambert!

  • spinastory

The reason I would prefer the Robbie camp is the exposure to an international platform but also I think it would allow him more freedom to experiment with his music.. American mainstream music is to “in the box” at times.. and well I can see too many puns directed at a Adam and Lady GaGa combination. I would’nt like to see Adam become a second hand joke.

  • Susan M.

THIS. I think is the perfect catapult for Adam. Yes, we’re all impatient for him to get his solo tour, but I think it’s extremely naive to think he will have a solo tour out of the gates.

A big, theatrical tour (hopefully somewhat limited dates in major venues) is exactly what he needs to broaden his base and lay a foundation so he can establish himself as an arena act. He will still be Adam and follow his vision. (I mean, like Kanye and GaGa have the same act?)

I’ve got an Amex card with his name written ALL OVER IT. I’ll go in a heartbeat and I’m not crazy about GaGa, but I’m sure she’ll put on a great show.

  • http://mamadeb.livejournal.com mamadeb

I watched Lady Gaga on SNL Sunday night, with my husband. The first act confused us – the vocals weren’t great and the dancing didn’t do it for us at all. But when she went on the second time – we loved the Saturn’s rings, which were visually interesting without being distracting, we loved that she got how funny it was for her to sit at her piano with those rings.

And then she started playing and singing and we forgot them entirely. We ended up very impressed. Would we attend a Lady Gaga solo concert? I don’t know. Probably not, in fact, since we don’t actually go to concerts.

As for one with Adam opening? I don’t know. I think I would if the timing were right. But that’s also true of an Adam solo event. If I can, I would.

I doubt it was Gaga selling the 20,000 seats. As much of a jerk as Kanye is, he was the big name on the ticket. I doubt Gaga would sell a 20,000 seat venue on her name as the headliner.

If you ever doubt that Adam is always thinking about good PR: a little off topic but from AO:

There was a recent thread wondering about the odd shirt-tie combination Adam wore at what turned out to be the Ford concert on Sept 18th. Here’s the photo:

    http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs253.snc1/10035_1408977536...

I kinda liked the combination, and today, while reading Newsweek, I spotted the same tie (rolled up) pictured on the back cover of the magazine. Lo and behold, it’s in a Ford ad where they talk about the “Ford Warriors in Pink” line of wear and gear for men and women available at fordcares.com.

Here’s the link to the tie: http://www.shopwarriorsinpink.com/itemdetail.asp?item=WIP9102&category=a...

They are donating 100% of the proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For those who don’t know, the Komen Foundation is the largest funder of breast cancer research and education in the US (maybe the world).

As one of millions of women who are breast cancer survivors, I say thank you Ford and THANK YOU DEAR ADAM!

  • Squirrely

The REAL Adam has a voice that is a gift from God

So very true – love his voice!

He needs a good balance such as he had during the AI tour.

His album probably has that. Adam knows when to amp it up and to tone it down. And apparently so does LG as she showed on SNL.

  • AnninSD

If it did happen I would buy tickets and drag my hubby along.
That said I don’t know if I would stay for all of Lady Gaga.
I’ve seen her videos and watched her preform on Idol but I am not in love with Disco Stick or Paparazzi.

This would be a MAJOR event. Gaga is a true artist with an excellent voice -although it’s often hidden under all the tricks.

And yes– Adam IS theatrical. AND he’s soft and vulnerable. AND he’s aggressively Alpha Male.

It’s what I love about him.

  • Kath77

Adam would be incredibly lucky to snag that tour, and it’d be more proof that his star is aligned correctly. It’s a no-brainer.

  • Cate

I really like Lady G. She has a great voice and plays the piano well. I can see why Adam would admire her for that, as well as her daring performance style. (Not to mention her interviews!) She pushes buttons, Adam pushes buttons. I just worry they might cancel each other out!

“And yes’“ Adam IS theatrical. AND he’s soft and vulnerable. AND he’s aggressively Alpha Male.

  • ALYESKA2

If Matt Giraud can pull off a solo concert (Grand Rapids, Michigan in November) than without a doubt in my mind Adam certainly could!! I’m still pro-solo for Adam! The best is yet to come, give the guy a chance to prove himself if he hasn’t already!

  • BestAI

Let me see. Would I rather continue to scour the internet for anything Adam, or see him live in concert. What a decision to make. I’ll have to think about that one.

HELL. YES. I would buy tickets to an Adam/Lady Gaga tour in a heartbeat.

  • Susan M.

The REAL Adam has a voice that is a gift from God that will get totally lost in the theatrics if he is allowed.

I seriously doubt Adam is in danger of losing his voice in the theatrics. The tools in his arsenal support each other; they’re not mutually exclusive.

He’s not an idiot. He KNOWS that his voice is at the core of his draw. I mean, he’s been working on it for years and is extremely protective of it.

He’s also been doing the theatrical thing for quite some time ‘“  again, I think he has a very clear understanding of his what his foundation is (his VOICE and performance power) and what is staging/costume/lighting/story.

As theatrical as GaGa’s stage show MIGHT be, I don’t think it will be even close to Zodiac, which was created to be OTT. He’ll kill it.

  • larchcat

I think this would probably be good for Adam. I don’t care if he tours with Fozzie Bear, I’ll go see him, and probably will all of you. So the question isn’t whether WE would go, but who else would? The fact is Gaga is HOT right now and it is so expensive to mount a tour, this could get Adam into venues that would suit him which otherwise he would never have the tour support in. This could expose Adam to a bigger audience and I think Adam can more than hold his own against Lady Gaga’s theatricality. I think the one who stands to lose here is LAdy Gaga because Adam no doubt will out sing her. I know everyone here, including myself, would rather Adam go the rock route, but given the producers he has chosen, I think that it unlikely. And probably smart because I think Adam would have an extremely difficult time getting airplay on rock radio, despite the support of legends like Slash and Brian May. Rock radio is notoriously snobby and I don’t believe has yet to support one American Idol, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Definitely in New York city radio you will not hear Cook or Daughtry on the rock stations. Rock radio never played Madonna or Michael Jackson either and I think Adam can live with being in that company.

My name for the tour is “GAGA about ADAM”

  • BestAI

If Matt Giraud can pull off a solo concert (Grand Rapids, Michigan in November) than without a doubt in my mind Adam certainly could!! I’m still pro-solo for Adam! The best is yet to come, give the guy a chance to prove himself if he hasn’t already!

Matt is from Grand Rapids or near there. Adam is an LA boy. It might be easier for a local boy from Michigan to score a solo gig in Michigan than a local boy to score a decent solo gig in LA.

  • IdolThoughts

The REAL Adam has a voice that is a gift from God that will get totally lost in the theatrics if he is allowed. He needs a good balance such as he had during the AI tour.

Unless he lights his penis on fire and makes love to a giant gummy bear on stage…I don’t think that anything Adam would throw at us would be so theatrical that his vocal talent would be masked. I can’t imagine his talent getting lost or upstaged by anything. He’s brilliant!

I totally do not believe that we will even hear a snippet of TFM tonight. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

I highly doubt that he and GaGa will tour together, but depending on how long her tour goes, I suppose he could get offered a couple of performances. Good publicity for his album, FOR WHICH THERE HAS NOT BEEN EVEN ONE TEENY TINY LEAK.

That combo would be a big help for Gaga who is trying to step up to larger venues. In that situation, having an opening act with its own ticketbuyers in a plus.

  • madnessinmotion

I can’t think of any better way for Adam to promote his album than to tour with one of the biggest “current” acts that has fans that are most likely to find Adam’s brand of music and showmanship entertaining in mass numbers.

I am down on my knees praying that Adam opening for Lady GaGa comes to pass. I will be first in line for front row tickets as soon as I get the confirmation that those tickets are available.

I watched Lady Gaga on SNL … when she went on the second time ‘“ …loved the Saturn’s rings, which were visually interesting without being distracting, …loved that she got how funny it was for her to sit at her piano with those rings.

And then she started playing and singing …ended up very impressed.

Me, too. I read the comments here re balance, etc. – I think to do his best, Adam has to have fun. I think he would have a grand time with Gaga and so would the audience. Might it all be a little bit too OTT? ummm…yes.

But they might be good for each other – GaGa is no slouch musically, and seems to be intellectually Adam’s equal – and has, like him, had a vision from her early childhood that she wanted to be an entertainer. She was accepted at Tisch, for heaven’s sake.

GaGa is only 22, I think – there may well be a little sister element at play, too, which seems to be good for Adam.

To put things in perspective…at last year’s Christmas Yule Concert multi-act tour thingy jingy (why can’t I ever remember what they are called) Lady Ga-Ga only did one song as opposed to other Artists who did a small set (or Kanye who they couldn’t drag off the stage since he thought he was the headliner).

Now she’s going on an arena tour? I don’t think she has enough material to carry the headliner portion, hence the match-up with Kenya and a shared stage set-up). That is why I think all of this is pure bunk (for right now)…and she is set for a solo tour in smaller venues in the spring.

That being said if the heavens did re-allign and it came to pass (her and Adam) ..sure I’d go see it. I love OTT dress up, balls to the walls, extravaganzes that engage all my senses, not just my ears. If I just wanted to hear a singer sing a song I’d lock myself in a room with my Bose blaring and pretend while looking at a snapshot of the singer hung on the opposite wall….I mean that is what you’d see at an Arena concert with no bells and whistles.

  • Susan M.

I’m going to bypass commenting on the flaming peen and gummy bear imagery since everything that can be said has been said . . . (sure was funny) . . .

Anyway, Adam has a very strong sense of himself, and I don’t think for an instant that if he and Lady Gaga toured together his performances would start to look like Lady Gaga’s. His voice is always front and center when he sings, and everything he does visually enhances that voice. He is not going to turn into some sort of Lord Gaga. Even though he loves Lady gaga, he has his own identify and own vision, and I think he’d stand up to her just fine. In fact, it’s possible he’d overshadow her.

Adam is OT and theatrical, but his presentations serve the greater purpose of enhancing the meaning of the song for the audience. He is not theatrical for the purpose of being theatrical; instead, he uses theatrical elements to better enhance the lyrics and presentation of the song.

On the other hand, I don’t always see the relationship between the theatrical elements Lada Gaga presents and the songs themselves. Unlike Adam, I find Lady Gaga’s performances to sometimes/often/occasionally (depending on your POV) detract from the songs, not enhance them.

I can’t imagine that Adam would somehow change his whole performance style just because he is touring with Lady Gaga. His voice is always going to be front and center enhanced by some great visuals.
For me, Adam’s visuals enhance the song. Even though I don’t get Lady Gaga (I’m trying), I’d certainly buy a ticket if Adam was appearing, and I think it would probably be a smart move on his part.

I’d prefer to see Adam solo, but that’s a heck of a lot of financial responsibility for a new artist to bear just out of the gates.

And now you’re recording your debut album. What is your vision for your first record?

I want to do pop-rock electronic, like dance rock. I want it to be rock and roll, a nod to all the ’60s and ’70s rock that I love, the classic and the glam rock, but with a very current, futuristic sensibility for dance floors. I want people to have fun. I don’t want to sound like I have this social cause, but I think that music in the ’70s was so cool because it was about partying. It was about bringing people together and celebrating and not about all this dark sad [stuff]. I want to bring back the fun stuff. I want to bring people together and get them to dance and smile and feel sexy and celebrate our similarities, not our differences.

Just a reminder of what he said in the Ultimate Interview.
If this is indeed what his album sounds like and he brings in the dancers and the fun and sexy and cool costumes, flammable or inflammable, I am there!

I see what you mean about the “bones” of the song. I can also see Adam doing something like this in an “uncountrified” way– if that makes any sense at all.
In his hands, it would be heartwrenchingly beautiful and definitely NOT country.

Just because this is a rumor doesn’t mean it can’t happen. We know that LG and Adam had talked about collaborating, and that they like each other. Many people were skeptical about the song Adam recorded and predicted it would not make it into a movie. We know now it is a fact that that is gonna happen. So if it fits into Adam’s people’s timeline for next year, I can see it happening. Adam does not have to be with LG for her entire tour. Many headliners change up who’s with them in different legs of their tour.

What is amazing to me, is that there are basically 2 weeks left. Why are they writing songs now? Why weren’t songs ready to go, so they could be worked on and digested by Adam, tweaked, etc, then recorded. Seems to me another rush job. They had all flipping summer while he was on tour. Why now? Maybe I’m too much of an A type compulsive personality, but if this was my debut album, my ducks would have ben lined up, thoroughly analyzed, twisted, tweaked and then recoded. Is this the artistic way?

  • TXArchitect

If Adam toured with a “theatrical” entertainer, like Lady Gaga, instead of the typical “opener: then headliner” approach, they could integrate their appearences, Adam singing one or two songs/ LG singing 2 or 3 songs, and so on…. THINK OF ALL THE COSTUMES CHANGES THEY COULD MAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FifthHouseSun

GaGa couldn’t fill the venues by herself. The Kanye-GaGa tour wasn’t getting the sales. It’s a recession. She may sell singles. But she’s not an arena headliner, yet.

Adam opening for her would help her career. Make her an arena filler because of his fans. He makes her star shine brighter. And, IMHO, at the expense of his own.

Every interview, in every city, will compare them. And he’s second fiddle, so he becomes part of her style. Her genre. He’s making her the Queen of all things glamorous. Any invention and uniquess of his, will now be part of that “GaGa” way. And he’s Lord GaGa for life.

The AI tour showed that Adam can fill a stage with imagery and innovation all by himself. Who ever looked at the background when he was on the stage? One jacket (and one jacket removal) sufficed for wardrobe. He fills the stage just by being on it. So let him tour smaller venues (just like GaGa did) and have them sold out to the rafters, adding shows, no tickets to be found anywhere. And the PR all about that.

It’s possible. But it doesn’t have to be a negative situation. Maybe they loved the first songs by Aimee and Ferras so much that they were asked by the label to come up with a collaboration. Or maybe Aimee and Ferras were so excited by how their first efforts sounded when when Adam cut the vox that they were determined to try and get one more on his album.

  • suebrody

Well, if he could tour with Muse, that would be amazing and perfection, should they be available. I just can’t see him touring alone. It’s expensive, and I do not think he would do well in small, intimate venues (as opposed to, say, Cook, Kris, Matt, Archie). I don’t think he has to become Mr. GaGa–he could easily differentiate himself.

I don’t know. I didn’t realize GaGa was doing small venues; I just know that thousands of non-Idol viewers would get to see him if he toured with her.

I totally hope the rumor is true. Lady GaGa is huge right now with teens, a segment of the population Adam really has to win over if he’s going to be a mega-star. I know his fan base is already broad in terms of age range, but because so much of what he did on Idol was retro, it appears to me that the greatest majority of his fans are in the 30+ age range. That’s fine, and he’d certainly make a good living entertaining those of us in that category, but to be as big as I personally think he deserves to be, he’s going to have to be a tad more contemporary than we’ve seen, even during the concert tour. He stepped it up a notch by doing Muse and updated versions of Bowie, but teaming up with Lady GaGa would give him an instantaneous boost in the current market.

Unless he lights his penis on fire and makes love to a giant gummy bear on stage’ ¦I don’t think that anything Adam would throw at us would be so theatrical that his vocal talent would be masked. I can’t imagine his talent getting lost or upstaged by anything.

Hey, now…are we talkin’ an endorsement deal? Tour venues selling custom branded confections…the mind goes to such exotic places on this one…

A Lady GaGa – Adam Lambert tour combo? I’m so there. It’s a win-win situation IMO.

I totally agree that Adam’s amazing vocal ability will always shine through in his performances. It’s evident that his costuming, staging, sets, or theatrics are always intended to enhance, not detract, from it.

Lady GaGa has a very good voice, although I understand how her theatrics can be somewhat of an acquired taste. I actually find her OTT antics creative and highly entertaining. Of course, I remember the first time I saw Madonna rolling around the floor in a wedding gown singing, “Like a Virgin.” At the time, she was considered way OTT – maybe more so than GaGa is now.

Adam now only needs 129 more twitter followers to reach 200,000.

Twenty more since your post. Poor Sarver, he is still trying to get his 20,000 (over 500 to go), and Adam only 109 to reach 200K.

What date is everyone anticipating Adam’s single to come out now? Oct. 19?

  • greeneyedlady

And as for Adam/Gaga in concert together- a big YES for me, and I barely know her music. But she’s hot and happening, and it would give him exposure, and a bigger budget for the bells and whistles and giant dancing gummy bears that we all know he wants.

I’ll pay to go see Adam no matter who he tours with, no questions asked. I love both sides of him, and I think he likes performing both sides as well. Theatrical- hell yes, bring it on. And ballad-y and heartfelt- I think that’ll be there also.

  • Dallas

Exactly. We 70′s rock and rollers are in love with him partly due to his covers of classic rock music. However, just like Teri63 said, we better be ready for some music that is more in line with what sells today. I hope he stays true to the classic rock genre but I am expecting his album to try to reach a more current crowd.

  • FifthHouseSun

    I didn’t realize GaGa was doing small venues;

I didn’t really know her tour history either, suebrody. Until a couple days ago, someone lined to a Variety article about the Kanye tour cancellation. They weren’t getting the sales. And GaGa was opening for the Pussy Cat Dolls earlier this year.

So, in a recession, single sales do not necessarily translate to concert sales. Adam, IMHO, is much more road-tested on tour than GaGa. How many of the 500K plus people who saw him live this summer would drive hours to see him again? More than enough to fill and re-fill (and possibly cause riots) at smaller venues.

    And on a lighter note…

When are auditions for the gummy bear?

    Best, AI, riotously funny.

They may have been held during finale WLL, here. And they all melted.

That pic, which I had somehow missed, and not sure is legal in all 50 states, was adjacent to other pics posted in a weekend thread about Adam. And a little more OTT than I’d usually pass along. But it is a demonstration of Adam’s ability to achieve visual extravagance. And not an expensive, theatrical prop in sight.

  • tiger92

I am also puzzled as to why Adam’s songs have not been chosen (and may still be in the recording phase? Or WRITING phase?).

I’m just thinking out loud here. Could it be that after they heard Adam sing Aimee’s song, they wanted more from her? Maybe they sent Ferras because they heard something from both their songs that they really liked and thought the two styles might mesh.
Didn’t Adam say they were half-way there at the end of the AI tour?

  • spinastory

And not an expensive, theatrical prop in sight.

Not expensive no.. but a prop.. hmmmm but then its all subjective

  • spinastory

Oh and I died when I saw that pic!!!!

  • Susan M.

Every interview, in every city, will compare them. And he’s second fiddle, so he becomes part of her style. Her genre. He’s making her the Queen of all things glamorous. Any invention and uniquess of his, will now be part of that ‘GaGa’ way. And he’s Lord GaGa for life.

I disagree, FHS. Like any opener, they are going to be compared to the headliner, whether it’s GaGa or Queen or Robbie or Madonna. It’s inescapable, but that comes with the territory of being an opening act. And GaGa has only been around a year, it’s not like she’s an icon like some of the other names we’ve thrown around.

Adam is nobody’s bitch and he won’t be hers. He’ll establish himself; he’s too smart to make himself the lackey here. This is the opportunity he’s been waiting his whole life for and like you said, we’ve all seen him live. I’m not worried about him fading into her background (seems like a metaphysical impossibility, IMO).

He will, if anything, upstage whomever he ends up opening for, so it’s going to be difficult to get acts confident enough to have him open for them.

That is one reason I fell in love with him. But I don’t know how anyone can think his new music is going to be classic rock and roll. I don’t think he ever said that. It will be more pop-rock, more electronic. After listening to some of the groups he likes and recommended I am more certain of that. He may cover some classics on his albums though.

I guess that is what I am trying to say–I am afraid that many will be disappointed when he takes 70′s rock to the more current electronic pop level rather than reactivating 70′s rock and roll. While I admit that my last few concerts (before AI Tour) were AC/DC, Tom Petty, Van Halen, Aerosmith, I still like today’s music so I am prepared to flove whatever he puts out on his album and I am EXPECTING a current vibe of dance music. TFM may be more classic rock ballad though — can’t wait to hear it by the way. SuBro? What’s the status on a date?

I think we’re not getting any classic rock on his album, but whenever he goes on tour I wouldn’t be surprised to see WLL rear its head again. Or a Bowie song/medley. Tiny chance for one or two Satisfaction performances even. That’s one of the things I think is advantageous for Idol alums on their debuts: after their first album is out, they have that material to choose from, but they’re also associated with about a dozen covers between the show and tour. So that’s some consolation for us rock-Adam fans :)

I totally HOPE his new album is contemporary and loaded with electronics. It’s what he wants, after all, and it’s what I, personally, think will sell the most. I’m not a huge electronica fan, but he really needs to be contemporary to make it in today’s market, and, much as I love classic rock and ballads, I respect that it’s his career/life and that he should do what he wants with it! Plus, as I’ve stated, it’s the smart thing to do at this time.

  • FifthHouseSun

He will, if anything, upstage whomever he ends up opening for, so it’s going to be difficult to get acts confident enough to have him open for them.

Goodness knows this is true, Susan.

Except they should all get him to duet. And exploit his innate Venutian tendencies to hold himself back not to overshadow in duets. (He’d probably botch a few notes just to make his idol Madonna seem adequate if they sang together.) And if Adam opens for GaGa, hope you are 1000% right about no one will compare them in the press and he won’t become Lord GaGa forever. (Shoot, if he opens for GaGa, I will be warming up the how-could-I-have-been-so wrong, humble pie in advance in the hopes that my concerns fade away, ever fade away, unfounded.) And if they waited until they’re co-headliners I’d feel differently.

But, there is no evidence that GaGa belongs with the others you mention Robbie, Queen, or Madonna. GaGa’s current hotness didn’t translate to ticket sales before they cancelled the Kanye tour.

She’s sold 3 million albums and 20 million singles. Impressive single sales in a recession and in a waning industry. But got to be dwarfed by the decades of sales by the others. (And why I thought Madonna did herself no favors to appear as an “equal” next to her on SNL, when an SNL player dressed up like Madonna would have done.)

  • BestAI

He will, if anything, upstage whomever he ends up opening for, so it’s going to be difficult to get acts confident enough to have him open for them.

Susan, I was thinking of the same thing. After AI Live Tour? We ain’t seen nothing yet.

  • karend

What is amazing to me, is that there are basically 2 weeks left. Why are they writing songs now? Why weren’t songs ready to go, so they could be worked on and digested by Adam, tweaked, etc, then recorded. Seems to me another rush job.

Why does everyone seem to think every song being written today is for that first album? Isn’t it possible that some people are already thinking beyond the current album. Like a 2nd one, or a 3rd one, or songs needed for a tour, or …???

GaGa’s current hotness didn’t translate to ticket sales before they cancelled the Kanye tour.

Yeah, you’re right and I don’t know exactly what was up with that. Was it that she isn’t a draw? The economy? The Kanye backlash? (But it seems that happened too recently to be a big detriment) or is it that they have two different audiences? I’m not sure what the story is there.

As I said earlier, if this comes to pass, I hope it’s a quick one. Ten or 15 major venues nationwide, perhaps.

Well, if he could tour with Muse, that would be amazing and perfection, should they be available. We’re on the same wave-length as happens so often SuBro! Don’t know if that would ever happen, but since Muse is working something up right now, perhaps Adam could open for them. He’s just a novice pop star, and they’re a medium-size pop act. Those hoping for a duet of some sort though–I seriously doubt that would happen. I’ve been to dozens of concerts and seems that one almost never sees an opener come back out.

Yes, I do think there are MANY in the 50+ crowd that are not scanning the internet daily for Adam news who loved Adam from AI and are thinking classic rock — mainly because that was pretty much every song he covered. A guy friend of mine, just this weekend, was drooling over GaGa’s SNL appearance and I made the comment that I thought Adam’s first album would have some of that sound and he said “Oh, I hope not, I hope he stays true to the rock sound.” Even though all of us tinhatters are way up on everything going on in Adam’s head, there are a ton of fans out there who may be expecting a different sound.

  • FifthHouseSun

‘ ¦.and what does any of this have to do with Adam touring with Gaga?

Because people have suggested that a GaGa tour would allow Adam the funding to go wild and OTT with staging, dancers, props, visuals, theatrics.

It was IMHO, that Adam didn’t need that yet. I’m lobbying for establishing his own brand through selling out wildly lauded smaller venues of his own tour. And could show more of how he made the stage light up, glow, sparkle, and feel OTT just by being on it. Reminding how the bare-staged, low dough AI tour stage felt filled and overflowing for his 20 minutes. And that insane picture from WLL finale, which I just saw couple days ago, was just absurd evidence of that, of what Adam can do just by being Adam.

Yes. And I do not understand:

    1) Why do not have a title of a song, aside from Strut and TFM (which doesn’t count);
    2) Why do not have a legit release date for the first single.

That said, I can see him touring with Lady GaGa OR Muse. I go with the latter, personally, b/c whenever I hear them sing, I can imagine him singing the way Matthew Bellamy does. Their latest album has a few “single” tracks and is otherwise a concept album. Clearly, that is not what his first album will sound like, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him go that way eventually.

What kind of song would be his first? Well, I would expect something like Hot and Cold or Poker Face/Just Dance. I would love something Cure-like (currently listening to Just Like Heaven). It’s dancey but w/ that 80s sensibility. But I want him to tour with a medium-to-large scale artist, so he can get the visibility he deserves. I cannot see him getting that alone, b/c he just isn’t known outside of the Idol bubble. Because he is so visual, he needs a decent space, and that means he tours behind a well-selling album, except that I think the tour will SUPPORT the album, rather than the other way around. So many bands/vocalists become well-known through word-of-mouth (of course, that wasn’t the case w/ Leona Lewis, who Simon Cowell made a star).

  • advern

Lady Gaga should open for Adam Lambert.

And that’s exactly what I think…because: we’ll have the better voice for most of the show…and we’ll have the better looking specimen for most of the show…and we’ll get the sexier moves for most of the show…the costumes will probably match…

I don’t see Adam touring with Muse. Other than Adam liking them and singing their song on tour, there has not been any connection between them.

    The correlations are:

He loves their music, and his cover of Starlight brought them to the attention of many (along with the Twilight soundtrack).

He and Matthew Bellamy have beautiful voices, including a stunning falsetto.

Muse is touring, opening for U2, so maybe Adam could open for them.

Just throwing it out there. Probably won’t happen; then again, Gadam probably won’t, either.

eta: it’s been fun, back to regularly scheduled rl

It’ll have an interesting bass line. Adam consistently remarks on the bassline of songs. He rides the bassline when he performs.

The bassline of his debut will somehow be insistent, undeniable, but probably interesting. With nooks and crannies for good dance moves. And something that crawls into the blood and pumps.

If it’s got the funk, will not be the least bit surprised. Adam likes funk.

What we don’t know is how much auto-tune. How much bury the vocal electronica. But I am prepared for massive amounts. Not gonna like it. But I am getting prepared.

Except for the pre-order (as Lady GaGa was quite unknown until her album really took off), I think you are selling Lady GaGa short. Lady GaGa is a newsmaker, her star is on the rise and she’s a fantastic live performer and highly trained musician.

It’s not just about the size of the venue as well, but exposure for Adam to an audience that would be open to his style and part of the demos that he needs that aren’t as prevalent in the AI world. I’m in my twenties and most of my friends adore Lady GaGa (while some don’t, but that’s part of being polarizing). They are even more curious about her live now after the VMA performance. I think they would be a perfect fit in that way.

Sure, she’s not as established as Madonna or Queen, but that’s a given considering she is younger than the years their careers span.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I’d love it if Adam went full-on electropop instead of pop-rock with electronic production. However, either way, I’m expecting a lot of beats and I shall enjoy that. ;)

Adam Lambert is already ‘bigger’ than Lady Gaga. His name is in the news almost daily. He is adored, loved by his fans. Adam is intelligent, personable, articulate, sweet and georgeous. His album is number one (1) on Amazon pre-order-never done by Lady Gaga-and this is all ‘word ‘“ of ‘“ mouth without a title and without hearing a single. Lady Gaga should open for Adam Lambert. she is fun, but Adam Lambert is an outstanding singer with praises coming from all over the music industry.

lmao I love Adam but Lady Gaga is a lot more popular right now if you get out of the Idol bubble. Of course this makes sense because he doesn’t even have ONE song out yet. So Gaga would definantly be the headliner.

  • Squirrely

Seriously Adam is not to the point of being a headliner – and it’s insulting to other acts to indicate so. I would be insulted if I was an established artist and someone expects a guy off a tv show who has not produced any original music to be the headliner over me.

    I absolutely agree.

Also, to add to this since I’ve seen more comments about her popularity since I posted, Lady GaGa is very popular right now (she’s not as established as some acts, but she is one of the biggest new artists on the scene and is “it” in the pop scene right now). You cannot just look at numbers (although hers are very good for the music industry now, imo) and assess her star power on that.

It all depends on what you mean by this…

MY PREDICTION: Matthew Bellamy will NEVER tour with or in any other way, associate himself/Muse, with Adam Lambert.

He has a bad attitude when interviewed about Adam singing Starlight, and he is pissed to be compared as a singer w/ Adam.

This cat won’t EVER acknowledge that he’s Adam’s bitch from a vocal-standpoint, nor, will he ever acknowledge the debt he/Muse owes Lambert in promoting his visability in the United States.

Bellamy: big head/little “Bellamy” if You Know What I Mean………………

What is amazing to me, is that there are basically 2 weeks left. Why are they writing songs now? Why weren’t songs ready to go, so they could be worked on and digested by Adam, tweaked, etc, then recorded. Seems to me another rush job.

Well, given the schedule the kids have — touring nonstop until two months before the album’s are supposed to be on the market — I don’t really see how it could not be a rush job, really!

Since they want the albums out by Christmas, and the tour is grueling, there’s really no choice, seems to me.

This kid said last year his class had to sing str spangled banner and when they got to the twilight part if the song everyone was like omg.so yeah twilight’s big:)

yknow I love Adam but …….:/

  • FifthHouseSun

The good thing about any tour Adam does, no matter when, where, or with whom, is that he ain’t gonna electro-auto-tune on stage. They can do whatever junk to the single, but if it’s got a good beat, once he hits the stage, he’s really gonna dance to it.

Retweeting myself, apologies, but this is tasteful link to make up for earlier recklessness. Heard this (on great political blog Balloon-Juice) and thought instantly “Strut!”. What if Strut is some modern day, electronicca’d, Sam Sparro-esque version of that? If Strut– or whatever is the first single, but could hear the “Show your stuff power lyrics, could see Adam dancing– hits the funk pockets like that, gonna be fine no matter how he sings it. Playing this often to get myself ready for lots of layers, mega echo death, and voice grekkling, knowing it won’t matter live.

  • suebrody

    Oh, bummer about Matthew Bellamy.

Here’s another song Adam could sing on his Tour (I know, it’s a cover): When Doves Cry by Prince. Can’t you see him dancing around to that? So, something like *that* would be nice (maybe Strut is a little like that?).

And yes, I agree, Adam is not a headliner…yet.

Sorry, luvadamlambert, but just not true for everybody…..

Read Twilight series 6 or 7 times, LOVED THE BOOKS, thought the 1st movie SUCKED and blew off the soundtrack. MUSE didn’t even form a blip on the screen….never heard of them

Watched AI season 8, loved Adam, read Adam admired MUSE, Adam was singing Starlight, bought Starlight and Super Massive Black Hole (music and vids), read Bellamy’s response to Lindsay, and thought,

“yea, right, NO ONE EVER MENTIONED TO HIM THAT 10,000+++ people were hearing some guy named Lambert who didn’t even win the TV show, sing his STARLIGHT song 4 or 5 times a week.”

Yea, if he DIDN’t hear about Adam, it was only because he had his BIG HEAD so far up his tiny little

…. well, he HAD HEARD ABOUT IT, OF COURSE, but chose to pretend he hadn’t so as to belittle Adam’s import.

Sometimes you hear singers/or singer/songwriters actually PRAISE others who cover their songs and then you know that they (yes, you, SMOKI ROBINSON) are the REAL DEAL.

That’s crazy. Her name is in the news all the time too and her album was #1 in four countries. Let Adam get on the charts before we start talking like this.

ETA: She could really help Adam gain fans and exposure, especially in Europe.

  • Susan M.

and Adam singing starlight gave muse like ZERO us promotion.muse is popular because of twilight.

I wouldn’t say that, Luv. There is a HUGE demographic (particularly anyone with a Y chromosome) who wouldn’t go near “Twilight” if their life depended on it. My 14-year-old nephew couldn’t believe I had actually “lowered” myself to read it. (I enjoyed it and enjoyed the movie the ONE time I saw it ‘“ have little desire to see it again.)

I hadn’t tuned into the soundtrack at all until Sunn and Adam started talking Muse.

Muse hadn’t yet broken through in the U.S., so any word-of-mouth they received had to help their now successful launch. Adam sang “Starlight” to 52 venues with close to 10,000 people, not to mention performing it on a live nationwide show. That’s nothing to be completely discounted.

What do you think? Would you buy tickets to a Gaga/Adam concert?

    No.

The little I’ve seen of Gaga on shows recently is more than enough for me. And I really don’t think I could possibly enjoy Adam with all the screamers who don’t know how to STFU while he’s singing.

I don’t think I would go even if the tickets were free. It still wouldn’t be worth the massive headache.

    Of course YMMV.

  • Dallas

    nevermind

  • Q3

I’ve seen both Lady Gaga and Adam in concert — and they would be great together.

IdolThoughts: Seriously Adam is not to the point of being a headliner ‘“ and it’s insulting to other acts to indicate so. I would be insulted if I was an established artist and someone expects a guy off a tv show who has not produced any original music to be the headliner over me.

I agree. Adam is not ready to headline his own tour. But I don’t think that Lady Gaga can fill up 20,000 seat arenas either — and that is what Live Nation has booked for the “Fame Kills” tour. My guess is that no one has a plan for that they are going to do with the tour yet. But clearly Lady Gaga is going to add someone who can sell some tickets. And the only thing Live Nation or Lady Gaga wants less than cancelling this tour, is to see it loose a lot on money

    Here’s the sequence:

    9/13/09 – Kanye VMA meltdown

9/24/09 – “Fame Kills” tickets go on sale.

10/1/09 – Live Nation announces Kanye – Lady Gaga tour cancelled.

10/2/09 – Lady Gaga says she will tour solo, same locations, just starting a couple of weeks laters. ays tour is to support re-release of her album “The Fame” [Monster Fame reissue with new songs] on 11/24/09 and will start in mid-November.

10/2/09 rumors start to fly around the Web and Twitter about who will tour with Lady Gaga. Adam rumors start with no apparent basis in fact.

The tour list include some big arenas. Here are the tour dates and venues.

It takes a lot of time to create and arena show, and it is really hard to re-create a show in 5 weeks. The “Fame Kills” show has elaborate sets, costumes, special musical arrangements, choreography, and so on. It was writen to have both Kanye and Lady Gaga perform at the same time. It was also designed to help move Lady Gaga into a more mainstream, broader market. If you have ever seen Lady Gaga in concert, her audience has a significant white, affluent gay skew. She needs to tour with someone who has a more mainstream, more female audience.

I still think it is really unlikely that Adam will tour with Lady Gaga. But by an odd set of circumstances, Adam became famous on American Idol and has a large female fanbase, many of them are not Lady Gaga fans will spend money to attend a concert. And maybe his album has some good songs on it. I sure haven’t got any idea.

IMO Adam brings a lot to the table for Lady Gaga. It would be a mutually beneficial partnership.

  • Dallas

Referencing a post way back there somewhere as to why the concert cancelled and why low ticket sales:

Kanye’s little foray into the realm of Douchebags R Us created a rather large backlash with both musicians and fans. I believed when I heard she/they cancelled and I still believe that LGaGa did not want to be associated with him.

By the way, this was not his first rodeo either; remember a few years ago when Kanye threw a hissy on stage when he didn’t win a Grammy for something…do not remember if it was Best New Artist or what, but he has been a Legend in his Own Mind for years now.

  • BestAI

I’m far from middle age, and I know others who love Adam from teens, twenties, thirties, and on. I think that was said of David Cook too (middle-age fans). It is probably the demographics of AI, but once you go outside the bubble, the ages are younger. However, as Kris even said, as long as they buy his album.

  • advern

his twitter rate of growth has slowed down lots – from 2K/day in the beginning of the summer to 1K/day in August to about 500/day now… will probably pick up soon :) like in a week or so:) (I hope in a week )

  • CindyM

I want Adam to open for a name headliner. I would love for him to open for Lady Gaga. Yes, he could sell out small venues. However, that crowd would be American Idol fans for the most part. I want him to be bigger than that. Clay Aiken sold out many small venues, but never expanded his fan base beyond his American Idol core. I’m not saying that Adam is anything like Clay Aiken, they only have 2 things in common. However, you start limiting your audience that way and get a certain reputation in the industry and I don’t want that for Adam. You all know I’m a HUGE Adam fan, but I want him to be bigger than the AI Bubble. I want fans of other artists to know his talent. I want to see him expand his fanbase, keeping the faithful but adding new fans. Basically, I want him to leave the nest and fly sky-high, and make me have to be the one to fly with him not hold him back.

Oh geez…could I get any sappier? I’m too tired to think of less hokey metaphors, so we’re sticking with that one.

  • kradamour

    Adam is nobody’s bitch

Exactly. I don’t think there would be anything to fear if he performed with GaGa.
Re classic rock and demographics…I was in college in the 70′s, would fit that demographic, but have to say that I never loved that music and don’t love it now. I know Adam has fun with the Queen stuff, but they (not Adam, I loved watching have so much fun!) make me yawn. So that music would not get me to a concert, even an Adam Lambert concert. It seems so yesterday to me, although I know that most of my peers would dismiss my opinion (and probably rightly).
I look to Adam for present and future music, not remakes of the past.

Adam’s twitter followers have increased by 17,392 followers since the end of the tour on September 15th. Kris is next in line, increasing by 8,832. All of the idols have increased except for Michael, who has decreased by 402. I know, I know, I saw someone keeping a chart on another board and they had the beginning numbers. TXarchitect:

I think that you might be putting sentiments and words into Matt Bellamy’s mouth. We don’t know what he was thinking during his interview with Lyndsay Parker and we don’t know what he’s thinking now.

Personally, I think that Lyndsay screwed up royally when she brought Adam’s name into her interview with Bellamy. The comment was random, kind of unprofessional, more than a little bit insulting and she certainly wasn’t doing Adam any favors. If I were him, watching that, I would have been mortified. Bellamy was wrong footed and I was actually, impressed that he didn’t get a bit peeved. .

I’m not sure that a serious band like Muse would be favorably impressed by Adam’s OTT covers of their work. Starlight was, in my opinion, not his best work and his Feeling Good performance was vocally astonishing but all wrapped up in that Rat Pack, American showman swagger that doesn’t necessarily go down too well in the UK.

That said, I doubt that there would be animosity. Adam is obviously a fan and Muse makes a bit of royalty money whenever he sings one of theirs. And who knows, they may get along famously if they ever met. At least they all love Queen.

    Touring … probably not … but ill-feeling … doubtful.
    Lyndsay however …?

Yes, Niall, it is. And lucky for Adam too, as the Twilight tweens (blowing their meager allowance on buffalo plaid shirts and netting-lined skirts at Forever 21) and the “hipster musicians” (the most sucessful of which are living in scary sub-let hovels in east LA like Adam used to) are just the well-heeled folk to underwrite a multi-city mega-arena extravaganza tour with high production values and a highly talented performwer (performers – if you include LG) who can actually SING w/o benefit of autotune ……… makes the pumas and cougars and such seem soooooooooooooo superfluous.

Funding? Why I’m sure Bellamy scoffs at the very thought. NOT.

It’s always great to indulge in a good fantasy, Adam, Lady Gaga, gummy bears, Props, etc.

Adam and Lady Gaga? I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think Adam has made comittments elsewhere.

    https://register.go.com/ABCNews/sweepstakes/FallConcert2009/register

Good Morning America is having a sweepstakes to attend the GMA Fall Concert series. Kris, Adam and Carrie are all featured in November. Enter, maybe one of us could win!

  • Truthiness

What would add the LULZ to this would be TFM being every bit as corny and overproduced as any other disaster movie soundtrack song, from Celine to Aerosmith.

I fully expect it to sound like that. I also expect that Adam’s first song will be pop crap, just like Kris and Allison’s were, and lastly if Adam were to open for Lady GaGa it would be open for her, not co-headline or anything daft like that, and he would be lucky to do so in terms of where she is at in her career relative to him. Not that I want them to tour together, because I think that would be too soon for him and I think it would be putting him in a Lord gaga wannabee box. On the other hand Daughty opened for Bon Jovi and that didn’t hurt him, but rock was his genre and I don’t want Adam confined to just electronica/dance.

Feeling Good performance was vocally astonishing but all wrapped up in that Rat Pack, American showman swagger that doesn’t necessarily go down too well in the UK.

Well the live version was supposed to be swagger, as you say, for Rat Pack week. Oh and I think that the British like their swagger just fine, depends on who is doing it and how. That being said, Adam’s studio version of the song was much less OTT and very pretty.

  • alaadam

Speaking of Muse-I will be enjoying them about this time tomorrow night along with U2 in the Georgia Dome. Starlight is on their setlist. Can’t wait! I know I’ll be thinking of Adam during that song.

    Adam followers in Twitter: 200K!!!

    Yay!!

But who discovered his twitter and started following him just now if they haven’t already? This man has no interview, no single, no leak, no radio spin, no add date, no (reliable) single drop date, no new twitter in 2 days, no anything… I mean through what channel did new followers find him and think him is interesting?

  • spinastory

I imagin its word of mouth.. very effective old fashion advertising tool

  • BestAI

I think his followers expect him to tweet cuz he hit 200K. He didn’t when he hit 100K (Kris did), so I’m not even going to expect it. I just want to know about his single(s) and some gigs.

  • Susan M.

Just like his rise to No. 1 on Amazon. Not to mention, he doesn’t campaign for followers, he rarely tweets and rarely if ever participates in the “Follow Friday’ type proliferation tools.

  • Tess

I think MJ needs to come up with a special font that we can use when we are keyboarding snark or sarcasm…neither seems to be easily identifiable.

Twilight…one stupid dumb movie with a silly premise…that caters to those who live on romance novels or are slightly into their teens….and I bet that 50% of the people who saw the movie have no idea who Muse are.

I found this odd too. There were a lot of people recruiting followers, but it seems like those tweets would have been seen mostly by those who were already following him???

  • alaadam

Adam never twats about reaching milestones with followers. He didn’t twat about pre-orders either and he has never asked his followers to vote for him for anything. The only thing I saw him twat about regarding solicitation was DonorsChoose. So, yeah, I agree. I don’t expect him to twat about this.

    There’s no logic to it.

  • Maria22

Adam has hit 200,000 on twitter…

  • Tess

Are all 200,000 Adam Twitterettes also on-line….because I keep getting told that Adam is only an on-line phenomenon and doesn’t have an outside fanbase?

My daughter MADE me watch Twilight with her. I multi-tasked through it, watching with one eye, but I did stop and pay full attention to the baseball game scene. Best scene of the movie, imo. I didn’t know Muse then, and even though I liked the music I didn’t look it up or go to any trouble to find out who sang that song.

Adam’s song in 2012 may be similar in its impact with some, but there have been times I heard a song in a TV show or movie and went right away to find the artist.

  • LeeTravers

Not twatting – VERY smart – we hang on every word and exclamation point, trying to decipher the underlying meaning. The less one says, the more mysterious. Especially in today’s rebarbative let-it-all-hang-out culture. Like it this way.

  • http://mamadeb.livejournal.com mamadeb

Twitter itself is an on-line phenomenon, so yes, all 200K followers would have to be online. We also don’t know how many are bots and sock puppets, since I’m sure Adam isn’t checking.

Meanwhile, his twitter name is his real name, which he apparently fought for, and he got a lot of favorable mention after the Kanye West situation, complete with said twitter name. When he does tweet, it does often mean something. Even if it’s just adorable fanboying.

  • adamisthemanfan

    Good evening everyone…
well, I honestly like Lady Gaga…despite the fact that she does tend to overdo it with the theatrical aspect of her ‘artistic persona’ she is a talented singer/pianist/songwriter…if u haven’t already seen/heard her acoustic versions of her songs I highly recommend you check them out…you get to see a whole different side to her and while its more subdued, I think its great…it shows that she has artistic sensibilities and wants to do more than make ppl wanna dance lol…
I would actually go to the concert if they were to tour together, especially to see Adam but this isn’t normally how tours work…
usually you have one major act and then a lesser known opening act, which doesn’t get to do as many songs…then again I guess Adam does have less fame than LG right now…it really depends on how well his album does…
and I wouldn’t want Adam to be the opening Act he deserves to have his own show but hey, on the flip side you would get to enjoy two performers for the price of one…..the only instance I know of where two major artists have collaborated and done a tour together like this one would be is Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera back in like 2003 or something…but it would be a pretty cool spectacle…and it would be even cooler if they did a song together…now that would be off the charts…
guess we will have to wait and find out.
he must be reeeeally busy now he’s barely even tweeting anymore…or maybe there are some surprises in store =D

  • beehiway

just wanted to weigh in on the Muse question. Have not seen this mentioned yet. The readers of the Twilight series are avid fans and discuss on boards very similar to this one. Stephanie Meyer the author has credited Muse the band with being her muse for the series. No pun intended. I know this because both sisters have read the series and became Muse fans through the author.

    ???Ummm, Bye ?

  • lola

I’d rather see Adam doing a few gigs with the Queen first before Lady Gaga. I don’t want them to groom Adam as her male counterpart.

  • suebrody

THIS is why I feel hopeful about Adam’s recordings:

    Feeling Good

Now, I enjoyed it on Idol, but it was OTT. I understand, he was playing the Rat Pack, but he was PLAYING. I mean, it felt more theatrical than anything else he had done to me, even PTFM, and when he got into the B2, it was like, OMG, that was close, better play it closer to the heart. So he comes out ROCKING IT HARD for Top 4, he slam dunks Crying, he kind of blows it (NOT HIS FAULT, tho) w/ One (it was the arrangement; the studio version is awesome), but is nothing but earnest when singing it, and then he hits a homerun for Top2 w/ MW (haunting, better than the first time) and ACIGC (amazing).

So what I am saying is that while I didn’t love his live performance of FG, and apparently America was also underwhelmed, I LURRVE the studio version. It’s my favorite one, in fact. He hits it perfectly, uses falsetto where it works, is stronger, softer, I mean everything. He took that song and MADE IT HIS OWN. This is why I am not afraid of his recordings. He is a smart musician (and remember, these recordings were done *very* quickly; hell, even NoBo wasn’t bad).

As far as Lyndsay, the ultimate Adam fangirl, she obviously pissed Muse off but ADAM DID NOT. He never takes the spotlight away from others, NEVER. On the contrary, he always praises everyone else. Humility, thy name is Adam.

I think it’s rather amazing that he continues to build up his Tweeter base when he doesn’t do anything but throw the Twitterverse the occasional bone. I do not believe FOR ONE MINUTE that he is unaware of the phenomenon. He has also be internet savvy, and if he doesn’t have time to check, his friends and family sure do. He seems to be playing this just right. Now when the singles come out we’ll find out how this all plays out. But I still think his initial single will be more Adam and less popularized than either Kris’s (not organic) or Allison’s (way too sappy for my taste, anyway). Maybe that’s why RCA is taking its time-pick the right song, AND build up tremendous enthusiasm for it.

I want him to headline for a well-known performer, get the name recognition I believe he still needs, and THEN get his own Tour. And I am not sure that is how RCA wants play this–I have no clue as to how RCA wants to do a goddamn thing–but I hope this is what they go with.

BTW, I am slowly getting over Twitter. 90 percent of the tweet/twats are useless. I use them for occasional information (e.g, an interview with an Idol, a music review, blogging SYTYCD) but that’s now about it. Shocking, I know. ;)

  • clearone

I agree with an earlier post, he and Lady Gaga are too similiar. It would be a great show, but I don’t think he will get the credit he deserves by performing with her. I’m not yet in the “do his own tour camp”, but I am not sold on LG.

I think he needs to build his fan base with his songs and then decide what tour route is best for him.

  • http://www.f3properties.com Animated

Adam needs to sell his single and album and show up here http://www.apple.com/itunes/charts/albums/
    and Worldwide here http://www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10popsongs.html

    It will come.
As to touring with Lady GaGA, it has its risks for Adam as well as for Lady Gaga. I think Lady Gaga and whoever will tour with Adam will refer to the AI Live concert tour and have to consider that whoever follows Adam is expected to top whatever he will be doing.

It’s going to Adam’s show even if with another artist – and he will be unleashing all that is in his creative arsenal.

  • Sherena

I would snap up those tickets like whoa. Gaga and Adam would be a near perfect fit stylistically. That would be a FUN concert. If this ever happens, I will need people here’s advice on how to get front row seats for non-outrageous prices ^.^

  • suebrody

I don’t really care whom Adam performs with, I am going. I just want him to get seen by as many ppl as possible. Maybe that isn’t the way to go, but w/ the kind of show he wants to put on, and the kind of money RCA is most likely to throw out there, I think he’ll need to open up for someone. Maybe not. I’d rather see a concert with Cure/Depeche More or Queen than GaGa, but honestly, I don’t care. I am SO THERE.

And I still contend that even if he were to tour with Lady GaGa, it would not be the Gadam show (I was kidding about that). He would have his own artistic integrity and she her own. I mean, Adam’s set wasn’t like anyone else’s on Tour, and I wouldn’t expect it to be on another Tour, either (and honestly, would RCA want it to be?) They want HIM to sell HIS OWN albums. I don’t think they want HIM to sell albums for HER.

As much as I love Queen, and I have loved them since they started in the early 70′s….regardless of how classic/legendary there tunes are, I think they are a bit dated for Adam…He needs something more current, and I think GaGa is about as current as you can get!

Same thing when he sang with Kiss….no doubt VERY COOL, but man it was like this young guy up with these old guys….I did not totally get it?

  • somedayfamous

Adam has nothing to lose going on tour with pretty much anyone, especially Lady gaga. Regardless of who he goes on tour with, his idol fanbase will be there and he will be exposing himself to non-idol fans in the process.

I think that more than anything, opening for Lady Gaga would huge for his career. I am a huge fan of both adam and lady gaga, and think that Gaga fans (there are a lot of them) would really like Adam and his style/music given that it is more than likely going to sound similar to her music based on his descriptions.

Keep in mind that there aren’t really any male performers like Adam out there right now. Gaga fans are clearly all for OTT theatrics and dance music so Adam would be in his element. He just really needs some exposure that goes beyond idol and then he’ll blow up

Dallas: Referencing a post way back there somewhere as to why the concert cancelled and why low ticket sales:

Kanye’s little foray into the realm of Douchebags R Us created a rather large backlash with both musicians and fans. I believed when I heard she/they cancelled and I still believe that LGaGa did not want to be associated with him.

Actually, Lady Gaga was one of the few people who tried to defend Kanye — she spoke to the press about him and said he had a brief moment of madness and that his behavior on the VMA was not what he was like, etc. I think she was trying to get him to tour.

  • Q3

Adam Lambert is already ‘bigger’ than Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga is far bigger than Adam. Her debut album has sold 3+ million, she has 4 Top 10 singles, and she has more online buzz than Adam.

Google Trends – Lady Gaga has 5.4 times as many searches as Adam Lambert.

Press – Lady Gaga has 6+ times as many news mentions as Adam Lambert.

But, Adam is very hot, too. And I am certain he has a lot of options and he and his management won’t let him do anything second tier. Remeber, Adam’s reps negotiated full movie credit (and prime poster location) for a song performed by a untested recording artist.

I don’t see Adam at all being LG’s male “counterpart”. Adam and LG are so unique. Grrrr…. Love LG, but Adam is a bigger talent.

Cindy M and Advern, I’ve been watching twitter numbers of this year’s idols. I wrote down everyone’s numbers at 4 pm on 9-26-09. Adam had 192,361. Twenty-four hours later, he had picked up 823, reaching 193184. So, he is somewhere in the 700+ average per day. Congrats on 200,000!!!!

Amazingly, Allison started that same period with 42,853 and ended up with 42,485–a loss of 368 over the 24 hour period. She has regained some since then, I’m sure (haven’t checked today).

    I have figures from 4pm, 8 pm, 12 midnite, 1 pm, and ending 4 pm on 9-27.

  • nanjowood

I really hope this does not happen. Can we stop it?

I could NOT stand to watch Lady GaGa. I MIGHT attend such a concert, because I want to see Adam so badly, but I would have to leave for her performance. I find her that objectionable. (I try to be tolerant, because I know Adam likes her, but in truth I cannot stand her attitude, personality, and image.)

Oh, and yes I would definitely go to see Adam and Lady GaGa if they were to tour together. nanjowood, I too find some of her act a little distasteful, but I really like the kind of music that she does. I’ve been somewhat shy for a large part of my life, and I find that I admire her “damn the torpedoes” attitude. Kind of like someone else we know and love–only I think he MAY be a little more conservative. However, at this point, we really don’t know how “out there” he can and will get!!!! However far that is, I’m ready for the trip.

I don’t know about all of us being over invested but I sure am. I have wished several times that I had recorded how many followers they had at the end of the tour so I could see how things were working out for them over time.

I think opening for Lady GaGa at this point in Adam’s career would be an amazing opportunity as far as exposure to the people who are most likely to be new fans. He should be so lucky as to get a shot at that audience. I have had my fingers crossed for him ever since I heard Lady GaGa still planned to tour and now that people are actually talking about it I am on the edge of my seat with anticipation. I want those tickets!!!

  • NewFan

Don’t worry Ceddies. It’s all good. You are among friends …. (even if many of us are already sleeping (wimps) … so you must delurk more often!

I actually really like Lady Gaga. She’s talented. She’s original. She’s fun and she’s created a phenomenon. But I have no idea whether Adam should open for her.

(And it would be him opening for her because she’s the bigger phenomenon at this point – hands down.)

But then I would never have put Muse together with U2 or Jordin Sparks with Britney Spears. Or tweedle-dee with tweedle-dum for that matter.

So, what do successful opening act/headliner pairings look like? Is there some kind of success formula?

I hope Adam is working so hard he doesn’t have time to dwell on the uglies. I hope he gives us a gift soon– a snippet, a song… an interview, maybe!

Rolling Stone– Album Sales Down in 2009

“There is some help in the coming months, between Eminem’s Relapse 2, a pair of long delayed hip-hop albums in 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct and Lil Wayne’s Rebirth (Weezy’s Tha Carter III was the best-selling album of 2008), Michael Jackson’s This Is It soundtrack, the debut discs from American Idol’s Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, plus reported releases by Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis, Shakira, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood, Weezer and more.”

I didn’t see this yesterday– did it get posted? This, more than anything, may somewhat slow Adam’s trajectory… although I’m hoping not.
It’s why I’m so glad Adam has both TFM and a CD single coming out– he will need every boost he can get.

Not sure if I want Adam to tour with Lady GaGa. But I would like to hear a future collaboration between them if she sings like she did on her second song (actually medley) last Sat night on SNL.

But as far as who I want him to tour with outside of the US it is simple – Robbie Williams if nothing except Robbie thinks Adam is great and Adam read Robbie’s autobiography while on tour and to think of Adam performing before this many people if he opened for Robbie would make me a very, very happy person:

First, we don’t even know that this was his real jacket. Secondly, if so, how come it’s so contraversial that nobody heard about it? I don’t think his tweet had anything to do with that. I think the tweet was what it was………a comment about liking Tokio Hotel’s CD and the fact that they’re German. Why does something have to be read into everything he says? He’s a direct guy. If there was an issue with the jacket, he wouldn’t skip around it……he’d deal with it.

Before jacket discussion gets out of hand, I want to point out that the whole image looks like Eddie, the Iron Maiden mascot. It looks like a composite of a couple images from the Somewhere in Time album, first the image on the record itself:
    http://www.vinylrecords.ch/I/IR/Iron_Maiden/Somewhere_FR/somewhere-time-23.jpg

    and the cover itself:
    http://pds5.egloos.com/pds/200707/17/05/c0022305_07071712.jpg

duklyon- I was SO not looking at that picture on the jacket the right way. It’s like one of those optical illusion pics. I thought it looked like a little kid with a big hat on, lol. The two dots at the bottom being his eyes.

Now that you pointed that out I totally see it. Especially since “Eddie” ( never knew that thing had a name) has the other symbol on his chest.

And since none of us realized those were on there until someone obsessed enough blew up the pic, is it so hard to fathom that maybe Adam didn’t see it? To me, it doesn’t even matter. I find it too hard to believe a guy who has put up with so much hate in his life, and is in fact a Jew himself, would knowingly put that symbol on his jacket.

The dumbasses that posted that crap just wanted hits for their failing sites.

  • duklyon

Studio57, I also wouldn’t be surprised if some of the ink has faded. One of the ‘swastikas’ is Eddie’s eye, which glows, so there might have been some yellow ink detailing that’s faded away, leaving only the darker colors seen in the (not so great) photo.

  • Studio57

That’s very possible too duklyon. I remember reading that the tour people would have the clothes drycleaned pretty frequently. Plus they wore them every night for two and a half months.

I don’t know the history of that jacket but one guess would be they got it from a vintage shop. It was probably worn originally from some mullet headed Iron Maiden fan- the cut off sleeves kind of suggest that. Or I could be totally wrong. Not the first time, won’t be the last.

ETA: didn’t mean that mullet comment as a diss on IM fans- didn’t we all have a mullet at some point, lol?

  • KLI

Why does something have to be read into everything he says? He’s a direct guy. If there was an issue with the jacket, he wouldn’t skip around it’ ¦’ ¦he’d deal with it.

Adam is direct, and I agree that he’d deal with it, but right now he doesn’t really have a forum to deal with it. He’s not being interviewed on a daily basis, and Twitter is not a good forum for explaining anything in context.

Can you imagine if he started tweeting:

“Hey guys, the jacket wasn’t mine!!!!” or

“Hey guys, I never noticed anything on the jacket!!!!!” or

“They made me wear it; I never would have worn that bedazzled vest of ugliness if it was my choice!!!!!”

Well, you get the idea. It would just set of a firestorm of speculation and a feeding frenzy in Twitterville. These kinds of issues need to be discussed (assuming there is even anything to discuss here) in context and not in one line tweets.

I do think that this tweet/twat was his way of pushing back at all the hoopla surrounding the jacket. In a way, it reminded me of the “You smell like roses” comments.

What I find surprising is that Adam apparently keeps up on all this gossip about him. So as to better keep his head in the game, I think it would be perfectly reasonable of him to just ignore it all while he is putting his album together. He is under enough pressure as it is.

I haven’t seen any evidence that Adam says or tweets anything randomly. He is exceptionally aware of context.

Once again, I’m well aware I’m speculating here, so I may be entirely wrong, but that’s my observation FWIW.

Finally, Lady Gaga and Adam are tame compared to all the performers back in the day. I remember going to a Madonna concert when “Papa Don’t Preach” was in the news, and people were going nuts over her performance. Adam is actually somewhat conservative when put in context of musical history within the last 40 years. The only thing he does that is particularly provocative is the degree to which he puts that glowing part of his anatomy on such prominent display.

And thank God for that!! LOL.

We’ll see what his future concerts bring . . .

Ok – so when I read this tweet yesterday, I SO couldn’t tell if Adam was really joking, or just had really bad timing ;-) I guess the joke makes it a lot better though. And I agree it would totally be the kind of thing for him to do – throw controversy back out there and show it isn’t affecting him.

As for the jacket, it is real – on the headlines thread yesterday someone posted a blown up pic of him wearing it, and it is clearly visible. But I will say it again, there is no chance in hell Adam knowingly decided to wear a jacket with swastikas on it. And he’s jewish, so yeah, stupid controversy.

KLI- I think Adam has only been tame on the tour because he was reined in. Let us not forget the flaming headress, burning man, and all his other pre- idol stuff, which was fun but…..

I don’t want him to be a shock artist like Madonna or Gaga. Maybe a performance artist like Pink does in her shows, but that is about it. He doesn’t need to shock- he has that voice. I was happy when Christina Aguilera ditched X-tina and went to what she does best….singing. Leave the shock and awe to the performers who need to distract the audience from the fact that they aren’t great live vocalists.

Since Adam seems to be be in tune to the gossip on the web…..

ADAM GET THAT DAMN SONG OUT!

ETA: I agree on the tweet- short and sweet and got his point across without directly refering to the websites that are trying to get traffic to their sites. Just like he did with WBC- smart guy, that Adam.

Yes…this tweet was directed at the on-line issue. Adam has a phenomenal wit and this is exactly how he is dealing with the controversy. Make the whole thing into the non-issue it is by being snarky in a very unobtrusive way.

Agree completely, KLI. Nothing he tweets is random. He’s pretty careful about that. He may put his foot in his mouth when making off-hand remarks, but not on twitter.

And how anyone could conceive that he is pro-Nazi from the design on the jacket is beyond the pale. I mean, first of all, he’s Jewish – maybe not practicing, but born of a Jewish mother. Secondly, Nazism is as far right-wing as can be. Now, I’ll admit I’m very familiar with the imagery from Iron Maiden albums – knew right away that there was a worn-looking drawing of Eddie on the shoulder…but not everyone is aware of that band or their mascot (and they had some of the most amazing LP artwork of the 70s and 80s.)

And as someone very interested in esoterica and spirituality, I’ve long been aware of the swastika as a symbol of certain Eastern religions before the Nazi Party adopted it for their untoward purposes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika. Now, all of this does not diminish the fact that people are (rightly) offended by the imagery, but the mob mentality capitalizes on people’s fears and lack of historical knowledge. It’s all about context. I hope Adam doesn’t fall prey to having to explain his every move. He’s done a good job so far of not being overly defensive. That will serve him well…I’d develop an ulcer if it was me.

  • clearone

I think the point is that the jacket is a nonissue. A ridiculous noncontroversy. If he had dealt with it directly, he would only have succeeded in elevating its status to something it’s not. Instead, he simply swatted it away like a pesky fly with a three word zinger. Very smart.

  • http://www.planetfierce.proboards.com rowenaaine

Interestingly, I had not seen the incident on PH. I saw it when the ebay auction started last week and then one of the “Adam-negative” Idol fansites ran with it via Twitter. (OK, the Burning Man Star Spangled Banner performances was WAAAAAY out there). When he has his own tour, it’s not like he’s going to be able to be totally nuts there either. If he proposes a flaming headdress on his own tour, I would expect the people who insure these performances would say NO THANK YOU!! I don’t think he’s a shock performer or particularly values that type of performance for himself. He is more shocking in his daily life–although these days he’s not acting very shocking. Maybe he’ll do something nutso and fun for Halloween this year. Hope so.

The one thing he does that is “shocking” is the way he delivers sexy to the audience. Female performers do it all the time with provocative and revealing outfits and dance moves, but Adam is one of the few male performers who will go there to that degree. Women use their bodies as eye candy, but men just don’t–at least not like Adam does. He’s willing to put his body out there for us to enjoy (and him to enjoy haha) in a way that is quite unique. I think that is the most provocative aspect of his performance style.

Believe me, I’m all for OTT performances on his own tour! Maybe I’ve just become desensitized to his performances because I’ve seen them so many times. I guess if you haven’t seen them before, they are pretty over the top.

    Boredinschool: hey again.

Angela Chase was the name of the main character in My So Called Life who was played by Claire Danes ‘ ¦ who supports Donors Choose ‘ ¦ like Adam. Is this six degrees of separation or ‘ ¦ is the so called director ‘ ¦ named Angela Chase ‘ ¦ not really on the up and up.

But kidding aside, me thinks that the so called director isn’t ‘ ¦

    *waves* Heyhey
I guess we’ll see when the movie comes out *shrug*

If Gaga and Adam did tour the same way that she was going to tour with Kanye (which would probably not happen, he’s not ready to co-headline unless his CD blows up as big as hers in a few months) she might be upstaged by Adam just by his voice. They were planning on each starting from one side of the stage and they would each be battling to get to the other side. This would mean them both singing one after another, and together, I would imagine. And Adams Voice >>>>>>>>> Lady Gaga’s Voice
But who knows. Lady Gaga and Adam both seem to be in it for the art and the music and not so much for the money. IDK Ive always thought that they were very similar to each other.

  • Squirrely

If the symbols were done intentionally do you think he would offer up the jacket for auction? Come on that is utterly ridiculous. My thing is he probably thought nothing of it either way, if he even knew they were there.

  • http://www.planetfierce.proboards.com rowenaaine

    jpfan,

What I mean by “mob mentality” has to do with twitter more than anything. Someone tweets something, out of context, and the “mob” picks up on it and begins blowing a given incident out of proportion without proper understanding of the actual event.

  • boredinschool

Back to topic, I have a reason for Adam NOT to tour with Lady Gaga. That would put him in dangerous proximetry to Perez Hilton. As I have posted before, Perez and Adam must NEVER meet, as the alignment of Handsome/Ugly and Good/Evil would cause a rip in the Space/Time Continuum.

Unfortunately he has met Perez. More than once if I remember correctly. He met him backstage at top 3 and at the P!nk concert, and his friends in LA know him so the degrees of seperation are small. Perez is a slimeball but he’s useful for advertising…:/

  • abbysee

If Adam had swastikas on his jacket (which I still don’t buy) I sure hope he takes time to explain it. Sorry, I’m not getting the ‘mob mentality’ concept at all.

What would be an acceptable explanation? What would be the intent on his part, if he knew there were swastikas on his jacket? What are others impying? That he’s a self hating Jew? That he is a Holocaust denier? That he is a Nazi sympathizer? Or that he just was presented this jacket, maybe he got to choose the one he was having gasms about, and this was the tradeoff. Or maybe he really wasn’t thinking that this jacket was anything other than art. Ugly or not… Certainly someone besides him must have noticed this, right? I am making no excuses for Adam, but neither am I waiting for some explanation that will make everyone hold hands singing kumbaya.

KLI and Rowe, awesome posts and ITA. We were in chat last night when Adam tweeted that and I think it was pure brilliance. KLI, I would not take Adam’s Burning Man or Zodiac performances as a true indicator. They are two occasions that are meant to be wild, fraught with abandon and way OTT. They’re like the layperson’s equivalent to Halloween, Carnivale or Mardi Gras. If you were like that all the time, how would you cut loose on certain occasions?

Adam has been doing his own thing for awhile and for every Zodaic video, there are multiple Upright videos. For every Halloween costume picture, there are countless “natural” pictures and several in between. Before Adam was in the public eye, he went around his day-to-day life in jeans and t-shirts and he still does.

When he does his stage show, do I think there will be numbers when he pulls out all the stops? Hells yeah, but they won’t be the whole show. He understands modulation and building drama too much for that.

  • soverymel

But until this morning when I got to work, I didn’t even know PH was getting in on the action.

I don’t think PH did get in on the action. I just checked his site (ugh) and I didn’t see anything there on it, and the last thing PH twittered to Adam was that snarky response about Tokio Hotel. So either he’s slow on this one, or it’s too ridiculous of a nontroversy for even Perez to pick up.

  • http://www.twitter.com/halfie6 halfie

I think folks are getting a little over-invested in all of this (shocking, I know). I wouldn’t be the least surprised if Adam had zero idea that the swastika issue had even come up when he tweeted. The guy is a little busy these days and it’s hardly a major news story.

  • http://www.planetfierce.proboards.com rowenaaine

soverymel, Thanks – I must have misunderstood. I thought from clearone’s comments that PH picked up on the “controversy” and was helping to fan the flames. I’m checking here from work – at a new desk and people can see over my shoulder now so peeking in at MJs is harder than before.

I do not follow PH on twitter nor do I visit his site very often. He’s just too annoying. ;)

I wouldn’t be worried about Adam upstaging anyone- he’s a very generous partner- and if he took care and managed not to upstage Kris when they dueted, than we can be certain he won’t be upstaging Gaga.
However, that would mean that he would intentionally tone himself down- and that would just be a shame…
Still- on his solos he’d blow the roof off :-)

Personally though- I want him to tour internationally- otherwise I might never get to see him again- boohoo!

  • sidewalkstory

I can’t figure out which thread you guys are talking about the jacket so I’m bringing my post over here from the headlines thread where I thought it was being discussed:

I went out last night so I had to catch up on the drama this morning. After pouring through the comments I don’t see why people are reading into Adam’s statement ‘Love them Germans’ .

Adam DOES love the Germans. He was in Germany with the cast of Hair and in early sound bytes said how open they were. You could just tell he was referring to the gay issue. According to his friends, Germany was where Adam came out of his shell. It is where he first dyed his hair dark. I think it is also where he had his first gay sex.

Yes, Adam really does love the Germans.

I also remember an interview about the vest. It was just a couple of sentences he said but I distinctly remember him saying something about symbols. So he knows they are there. And I think he said something about Hindu but I could be wrong about that part.

  • suebrody

Has TFM been released yet? :)

  • Oksana2000

    To KLI
You were right when you said “I haven’t seen any evidence that Adam says or tweets anything randomly. He is exceptionally aware of context.”
I remember reading his interview with Fred Bronson. Adam was talking about time he spent with Val Kilmer.
It taught me a lot. I realized Val had to really watch what he said
    Adam is fast learner.
    Amen.

I don’t like Lady GaGa, but I do so LOVE Adam, so my answer to “would you buy a ticket” (shoot I almost said no, but it needs clarification, so I will just do that)…

I would buy a ticket to see Adam, and once I had seen Adam, I would exit the venue.

What would you do if Adam and Gaga performed a duet during her set?

  • Chipmunk

he wouldnt be upstaging the main draw which is Gaga, even at his most flamboyant…dont get it twisted folks!

It’s all a rumour, but of it happens good for him..he wouldnt be the main attraction but it would be great exposure and he woulld benefit from opening for Gaga, or whoever at this point

I implore you all to burst that friggin bubble!

  • Squirrely

Even though this is a cover of a cover, it would be cool for the deluxe album. Adam’s vocals would be much much better.

Very wise advice. The air is fine. Folks, you do not have some kind of Adamimmune syndrome even if it feels that way. You can even breathe the same air as Kris fans and suffer no ill consequences.

    Live! Be free!

  • Susan M.

Adam DOES love the Germans. He was in Germany with the cast of Hair and in early sound bytes said how open they were.

Yes, all true. But when has he commented on the nationality of a band he’s recommended before? Like he wouldn’t comment on their music, style, the lead singers (as he has before).

It’s just too random to be an accident of timing (or a red herring, if you will ‘“ sorry, hafie). When Perez is braying (and likely tweeting) this crap at him (not to mention a portion of his 200,000 followers ‘“ he knows). And just like his Simmons comment; it’s indirect, but gets his point across his trademark edginess with a smile.

So, I woke up this morning to find out the guy that once tweeted this

Thank you all for the support. Love overcomes hate. Love has no color. Love has no orientation. All is love. :)

I know that’s sarcastic, but it’s also insulting. Freaking release a single already, Adam, so we can move the hell on. At this point, tour with a chipmunk. I don’t care. And don’t need a tweet about Blake. We need one about YOU.

ETA: Ain’t no way Adam’s gonna release a cover after the brouhaha Kris has had to contend with.

?? Perez isn’t involved at all. He never tweeted or wrote a thing about denim-gate. If you’re referring to his “Thanx for supporting fellow gays…” tweet, it’s because Perez insists Bill Kaulitz is gay, even though Bill says he is straight. Perez has joked with Adam about this in the past.

    The last sentence is priceless!

Also, from another forum from someone whose major encompasses such things:

“In case anyone’s curious, those ‘adornments’ on Adam’s jacket aren’t Nazi swastikas anyway. They’re facing in the other direction, which means they’re the Hindu symbol for peace.”

And, yes, I believe that Adam addresses issues indirectly & his tweet about ‘loving Germans’, did just that, cause this non-issue is being sent all around twitter now for at least 3 days….

  • Squirrely

Bill Kaulitz is gay, even though Bill says he is straight.

He’s does? Well I guess he would know.

  • NewFan

I find it too hard to believe a guy who has put up with so much hate in his life, and is in fact a Jew himself, would knowingly put that symbol on his jacket.

I don’t remember Adam saying that he had put up with “so much hate in his life”. Come on guys, he isn’t a martyr or a genius or a saint. So why are we wanting him to be one … he shouldn’t have to be.

    4evrmomof4:
Even swaztikas need to be seen in context … but I looked it up too … and it is a Hindu religious symbol.

  • RoRo

I would for sure buy tickets to see Lambert and GaGa. Actually I would go to each of their concerts. Together? Awesome! Both excellent vocalists and exciting stage shows and similar music styles.

New fan- I don’t recall calling Adam a martyr or saint, but if you don’t think that guy has had any hate in his life you must not have ever read a public message board/ blogs where people talk shit on him all the time, not to mention the WBC protesters. Since i don’t delve too deep into the past of any of the idols, I have no idea how his upbringing was, but I cannot imagine it was all puppies and rainbows.

I don’t think I have called him a genius, either but I have said he is damn smart though :) only because the guy can dish it out as well as he can take it.
