Adam Lambert and Elisabeth Hasselbeck BFFs?

Well, considering that everyone that has met Adam has said he is polite, humble, and very nice, I am not surprised at all. I bet his interview is great on Thursday, and I can’t wait to see the band rock it out. BTW, Monte tweeted me that If I Had You is his favorite song on the album, and it’s my favorite upbeat song, too!

I am anxious to hear some tweets about the taping. I am sure there will be plenty of leaks.

I doubt if you are going to hear about them attending a drag show together anytime soon, but it is great to hear that they did in fact get along!

I think I might actually enjoy the appearance on The View more than the Barbara Walters Special (and I normally can’t stand The View). I am hoping that by having, like, basement-level expectations for the BW Special, I might somehow come away pleasantly surprised?

First time poster here…total Adam fan. Just saw a preview of Adam’s interview with BW on “The View.” My only gripe with Adam right now is…why so much freakin’ makeup?

He’s got such beautiful eyes…yet he hides them under all that black gunk…yuck! Saw pictures of Adam bare-faced with no eye make-up & he is a gorgeous man.

Adam, ya don’t need to hide under all that eyeliner. He looks too freaky…even creepy. Let your fans see the real, beautiful, natural you!

REALLY? I don’t think it’s the “liberals” who are giving Adam any trouble. And….um Elizabeth is NOT the one who makes any sense on taht stupid show.

What is au natural for Adam? That’s the thing, isn’t it? That there’s rock star Adam (FYE, which he admits is a PERSONA) and then there is Adam, the incredibly nice guy in interviews, in person, etc. , the one that everyone has loved meeting (I can’t remember anyone saying, Naah, don’t like this guy, and I mean NO ONE). Plus, I’ve heard GaGa in interviews, and she sounds a lot different than she does on stage.

Of course she loves him. Who wouldn’t? He’s charming, drop dead gorgeous and completely self aware. It’s hard to deny that charisma no matter your party affiliation. I have a feeling that Elizabeth might not be as tough in her stances as everyone thinks she is. I don’t know how anyone can be around people like Portia DeRossi, Ellen, Adam and still feel like gays are different and deserve different rights. Maybe that is just me being naively optimistic. Too much Bing Crosby for me today perhaps?!

I don’t regularly watch The View, but I know that I share some of Elisabeth’s conservative views. That said, if I met Adam, I would “focus on the positive”. I would tell him that he is the first and only AI contestant I ever voted for. And if he wanted to use my cellphone to tweet, I would certainly let him! lol!

I’m not at all surprised he and Elisabeth got along. Elisabeth is a huge Idol fan and has ALWAYS liked Adam! Kris and Danny were her favorites last season but she always spoke very well of Adam. In fact, the only thing I can remember her really criticizing was his AMA performance and she was hardly alone in that.

She’s also in favor of gay marriage. She was stunned by the press coverage of the Portia deRossi interview. I was too, frankly. If you go back and watch it, all she did was try to make the point that maybe fighting for the word marriage isn’t the way to go and they might be able to get the rights faster if they didn’t insist on the word. Portia didn’t agree but there was no acrimony.

Elisabeth is a lot more than just a standard by the book conservative and people that don’t watch the show really sell her short a lot of the time. I don’t agree with a lot of her views, but she does think about them. She is not a knee-jerk conservative!

Well, I am a very liberal person, but one of my best friends is super conservative. We just don’t “go there.” I also have some family members who are staunch Republicans. You can get along, and even like, people who don’t share some of the same beliefs and ideals. It isn’t impossible. Having said that, Elisabeth is the main reason I normally can’t handle watching The View. But I don’t find it impossible that she and Adam could get along and even have things in common.

I also think not liking someones political views or not agreeing with their method of doing something does not necessarily mean you will not like them as a person. I think Elizabeth is well aware that Adam the performer is not the same as Adam the person. IMHO. I don’t agree with Elizabeth’s views and sometimes she has a hard time explaining or conveying those opinions. (even though sometimes I understand where she is trying to go but alas she misses the mark big time) but I don’t think she is a bad person and the devil incarnate. Just like I don’t think she thinks Adam is either. I really think they both know this could be a media coo for them. Almost a simulated burying of the hatchet between Adam and ABC with Liz as the surrogate. Anyway looking forward to the interview and the performances from all of them. Believe me Adam maybe the only one singing but they will all be performing.

I’m not at all surprised by this. Just because Elizabeth’s conservative doesn’t mean she sits in judgment of everyone all day. Just because she didn’t like the AMA performance doesn’t automatically make her a hater of all things Adam. I’m happy they got along. you are probably talking about People mag pictures (dec 14 issue), I bought one this morning and yes that “bare all” photo is beautiful, and the way they have a glammed up full page photo across the no-make up, shirtless photo across is just brilliant. And, in fairness to Elizabeth, there are a LOT of people in the US who feel that way. I understand why the proponents of equality find that to be “less than” and “not enough”, but it’s not a completely alien idea and Elizabeth isn’t the only person who feels that way. There are also people across the aisle from Elizabeth, so to speak, who feel the same.

Not that I’m saying it’s a good idea or anything, I just know some people less-moronic than Elizabeth with the same views.

Having been married for quite a while to a man whose political views are quite opposite of mine, I’m laughing at the idea that the best two people with different political agendas can do is be “cordial” with each other. Republicans and Democrats get married all the time. Christians and aethiests can be best friends.

Our differences do not make it impossible to see the humanity in others and to admire the good qualities about them. A human being is not simply the box they check on the ballot. People are just far more complex than that.

I’m not surprised that they got along. She’s a nice girl just as long as you’re nice to her and don’t mock her views. I don’t agree with her most of the time but the only times I really dislike her is when she goes all holier-than-thou and self-righteous on people.

Like the days after that BIG Rosie/Lizzie fight. When Alicia Silverstone who’s a friend of Rosie’s, I think, guested, she kissed all the ladies except Lizzie. The whole segment had Elizabeth trying to “get” Alicia. I love that Lizzie tried to catch Alicia (who’s vegetarian) by pointing out her shoes and Alicia saying it was faux. That was fun.

Adam is very well spoken and intelligent. I think he would have been able to hand whatever these ladies would have thrown at him.

Eh I can’t speak for other,but the reason I can’t stand Elizabeth is not because of her conservative view, sometimes I agree with her view. But from what I see on The View she seems ignorant, close minded etc. Even so I’m not really surprised if she and Adam get along, because Adam is oh so charming and humble and polite and Elizabeth is also nice. We can disagree with someone and still be friend right?

Ya’ know hypertwink, I think that’s really Elizabeth’s problem – she’s just very immature. She doesn’t handle conflict well when it comes up. I don’t think she goes looking for it – she’s just not very adept at working through things rationally when people disagree with her.

I bought the FYE album yesterday & listened to the whole album. Out of the 14 songs, there are only two that I’m not that fond of, but the others…love them! My favorite being Sleepwalker.

Don’t know much about this…is Sleepwalker radio-friendly? I think this is definitely a Number 1 song. Love the instrumental part, too. What are the chances that this song would be released as a single?

Sleepwalker was written by Aimee Mayo, Ryan Tedder (One Republic), and Chris, Aimee’s husband (he’s also a singer/songwriter, and I can never remember his last name). I would LOVE to see this song released. Orienthi (I always spell that wrong), who was Michael Jackson’s guitarist on TII and has a new single out, did the guitar licks in the middle of the song.

It’s the same day, Alicia’s segment was after the Rosie-Lizzie fight. I think she watched/listened to the fight from backstage.

Adam did look like he used a sharpie (reference to Ellen’s skit) when he applied his eyeliner. A little too much, but if he had gone on AI au natural he wouldn’t have made it to top 10 IMO.

Elisabeth drives a lot of people nuts, but she’s not against gays at all. As for gay marriage, she was merely asking Portia a question which got blown way out of proportion. I saw the show and then saw a little bit of an “outcry” somewhere and went back and looked at it again and thought, for heaven’s sake give Elisabeth a break (and this coming from someone who isn’t a fan of hers)!

Barbara’s list of 10 people (with only 9 revealed) is a strange mix. Some people’s fascinating are other people’s repulsive. (For me the repulsive is Glenn Beck.)

lol relax. he had good number of Top 40 adds last week. Overall adds this week will be lighter anyway because of Christmas. WWFM is getting good play in some big Top 40 markets. It’s still moving up the charts and if it pauses for a little bit over the next couple weeks, it won’t be the end of the world. And, really, its to be expected as, instead of playing new music, most stations will be playing Christmas music. The goal over the next few weeks is to keep it from falling way down the Top 40 chart so that when Christmas is over, WWFM is in a good position to keep climbing.

Actually WWFM has been climbing pretty fast on top40 for someone without big hits before. It’s only been out like 2 weeks.

Allison is the one I’m worrying about. I think it’s time for Jive to roll out the second single. FIBOU seems not even get the initial push on radio. Probably Jive used all its favors on Kris’ single. LOL

I don’t think we’ll se him singing at these jingle balls and I don’t think they matter much for the general public’s view of him. Their purpose it to give the radio stations something for them spinning his single. If he can get them to do that with him hosting then I am fine with it.

I would agree that Adam needs to get out there for his music, and he agrees as he’s said he wants to concertrate on that, again, the question will be, when he’s allowed to be.

As for WWFM becoming a top 40 hit? Well that’s kind out of his control, he seems to be doing what he can, which is sing the song on the shows as best he can, hopefully that will be enough, with whatever things RCA is going behind the scenes to push the song.

I agree. I don’t think that the jingle balls give a huge boost to sales. It would be nice for us fans to get some live performances but they don’t really sell the songs to the general public. I think tv and radio play are much more important.

Radio and TV audiences count in millions. How much from jingle ball, 10k top? As long as they get something exchange for radio spin, everybody’s happy. After the initial promo is over, radio and/or touring are the ones to rely on to build the fanbase.

Ah, this is where I think you’re wrong. There is nothing to recover from. The AMAs were a total success as far as marketing goes. Anyone that writes him off because the performance repulsed them would not have been a long term fan anyway. Adam will have many more out there performances in the future, people that don’t like that type of thing won’t be fans…at least not of his shows, they might still decide they like a tune or two when they hear it on the radio. Look at the number of people that hate Lady Gaga. She’s still doing pretty well, and I for one would LOVE to see her in concert.

Hi, squirrely! Time to order. The Billboard Magazine with Kris and Adam is not bad, and Allison is in there, too. That’s the one with the red shoes where Adam looks like he is 7’0″ tall and bendy.

Since he is a nominee, I bet he does go to the Outmusic Awards ceremony tonight (will go to vote). Did anyone know about this? I have already voted numerous times for FYE on VH-1 (which you can do). I heard he made it, but who knows if that is the case? And I totally misread his comment at the club last night. It surprised me that he would diss Elisabeth, b/c that is so not Adam. Is the band going to perform w/ LKL, do you think? If so, guess they will stay on. And is Conan this week or next?

I think he is recovering from the AMAs, but it is going to take some time. A lot of damage was done, more than what was probably warranted from the incident itself. And I think this is only starting to sink in. My mom, who was a fan of his voice, was really turned off by the AMAs (or I should say, what she saw and heard of it in the media following, since she definitely didn’t watch the show). However, I showed her the interview with Ellen and a couple other things and she is back on board, and kind of sees him as a really nice, very personable guy who made a mistake. I also overheard someone yesterday at Target say that he had “fooled people” when he was on Idol. Sometimes perception takes over and it has a snowball effect. Adam has a ton of talent, and he will recover, but this was a mess he didn’t need. I also am a little worried about radio embracing him; really wish Chicago would add the song (or at least start spinning it). WWFM needs to do well on Top 40. It is, perhaps, the most radio friendly song on the album (not necessarily the best, but definitely the most mainstream).

Anyway, really looking forward to The View; hoping the BW Special isn’t taking too many steps backward.

Will I did know that I was saying Ironic because Out magazine wanted to berate him as not being a good gay Icon, and now OUTmusic wants to honor him as the future gay Icon. It is something he is up for and that was the main reason why I was posting it. Sorry I was not clearer in my post. I thought after people read it they would understand what I meant. That two different gay organization with OUT as the main part of their name view him differently. Thanks for clarifying as if you were confused others must have been too.

YOu don’t have to be gay to be a gay icon – ergo Madonna, Kylie, Beyonce etc are all total gay icons. A Kylie concert is like spending a couple of hours in a fabulous campy gay parallel universe.

It is but the award is for future gay Icons. Usually gay Icons were mostly straight women. (Madonna, Judy Garland, Lady Gaga, ect ) as no music artist would come out. Even in the gay world he is a first in music. (kind of) we can actually vote for a gay Icon that is gay and fairly well know! The perry twins maybe gay and Gaga is Bi

I totally agree with that. People seem to be more shortsighted whenever things get rough. In the bigger scheme of things, this will work to his benefit in the long term. Besides, being tame and just singing pretty songs are not his thing anyway. AMA created a lot more marketing potential overseas. He has their attention now, that’s half the job done as far as marketing goes.

But — great news, even if it sticks at this number. He’s halfway to gold, and he’s only been on radio for a few weeks.

74% drop not really so bad. Better then the OTT predictions of 85-90% drop. But I am sure some will spin this as then end of his career and he will be dropped by Friday. jeez. Of course I wish it was better. He finished at 21. Ahead of Shakira, Bon Jovi and 50centWho knows he maybe a little higher when the sound scan numbers come in Last week HDD said on Monday late afternoon he would do around 195K and Sound scan had him at 198.9K on Wed. This mean he is at 1/4 million half way to gold. Now if he can maintain at least 50K a week until Christmas. He has a good chance at 500K in 6months. Susan Boyle is a monster. BTW, was there add’l View coverage w/ him and Elisabeth or were they just playing w/ us? And B Walters is not going to get an apology from him, ever, so she can just lay off that card. Yeah at Adam making the Time list and I am so happy with week 2 numbers and the adds! There is never a shortage of news!

Adam has 13 total adds this week and counting!! Miami is #12 and San Antonio is #21 yay!! and there is about an hour left so it will most likely go up!

Also very proud that FYE is halfway to gold in 2 weeks! anyone who isn’t happy with this is just nitpicking especially when wwfm is still climbing and will most likely hit top 40.

Well- I think it is reasonable given the high profile promo he is doing, a new WWFM video in the works, and the FYE video doing very well on several television channels.

I just think international markets don’t react freak out about sexuality (straight or gay) the way the US does. Many international posters have been reporting they don’t see what the big deal is with the AMA performance and the overseas press is in agreement.

And I also think Adam has a pulse on international artists like Muse and Goldfrapp, Tokio Hotel that aren’t hitting as big here. (Muse is now getting big) I think the UK and Japan love their theatricality. If RCA launches well, I think he could create quite a following overseas.

thanks sr4mjc….interesting. I’ve enjoyed following the international reaction/reviews to FYE and Adam’s performances. We get so caught up on the MSM in America. It’s a big world out there and it’s helps to put “success” in perspective.

At first they were going to use the standby line as fillers for those who left after the first show. But they had so many people show up with tickets that even some of them got turned away.

This meant that there were no Adam fans for him in the audience.

A woman who got in, came by the parking lot afterward and filled us in on the interview. She said that the women kept turning the conversation to the AMA’s even though Adam tried to steer it to a discussion about his album.

I get a different interpretation of that picture of adam with the view ladies. Notice all of the ladies are sitting in a “closed” position. Closed (crossed) legs and closed (crossed) arms. Since none of them seem to be leaning in toward him, it seems to me that each lady is putting up an invisible wall.

Adam on the other hand is sitting in an open position with his legs very wide open and his arms open except for the hands covering his goodies. That tells me that he is open, candid, trusting and relaxed.

This time I agree with you on the too much make up critique. (I agree with you on many other topics but I usually think he looks good with the eyeliner. This time not too much)

Yeah, and you know what I hated about Carrie’s special? The homophobia. Otherwise, it was boring, except for Cook, IMO, who was adorable.

I don’t like it up close, but I think it’s more stage make-up in his later looks. He wasn’t wearing AS much when he started the evening in that rocking coat that I flove.

I like band shot too. Adams broad shoulders seem to get in the way in band pix. Rihanna and alli both looked great and having worked on stage makeup it always looks overdone in regular photo lighting. Besides Adam is in NYC and glam is the new black

After the entire Tuesday show—would it never end?! C’mon, c’mon, c’mon, people! Finally….. ADAM!! Great welcome! “Tall” hair, studded (rhinestone?) boots (he sat with one foot upon the other), and black something or other! The talk was virtually ALL AMA’s, with a wee bit o’FYE (Adam even held up the CD at one point and said something like, “This is what it should be about.” Heh!) Sherri still questioned his “oral sex” move, Joy and Elizabeth were pro-Adam, and Baba asked, “If you were ‘caught up in the moment’, what will assure people it won’t happen again?” Adam responded, “I know to stay with the rehearsal.” Or words very similar.

Of COURSE he sang WWFM divinely! The set-up was way to the back of the stage, though.

I like the smudged messy eye make up look on Adam in those pics .. to me it goes with the rest of his outfit .. especially the pants that look all tie/dye like the colour has all run and faced. .. I think it’s all just part of Adam’s performance makeup .. I woud imagine that if he wasn’t performing his makeup may have been a bit more subtle

Tonight is such a good night.

- The numbers, HDD, adds and spins, are all fine, so things can’t go wrong from there.
- The View interview seems good based on twitter, photo and video.
- The Vevo commercial is just so much fun. Adam and the band seemed to have a good time. He really needs a break to relax.
- The Vh1, Time magazine, Rob Marshall (director of Chicago and Nine) wanting to work with Adam are all icing on the top of a sweet day.

I can’t be happier tonight.

Will, it actually was on topic last night, when we talked about the Logo show Adam hosted, where he could be really open about his interests and who he was and what his turn on and turn offs were. We were discussing the struggles Adam had to go through as an openly gay male, and then on Carrie’s special there were scenes where Carson Kressly (from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) was being openly stereotypical homosexual and another where Carrie was trying to set up her sister w/ someone (was it Carson?) but of course he was GAY tho nice. These were exactly what Adam has been dealing with, so I think it’s very relevant: how difficult it is to be openly gay male who is not what the public expects a gay male will be (I always think of The Birdcage, the movie with Robin Williams). This all goes back to the AMAs, IMO. It’s okay for Britney to “make out” with a woman, but a guy has to be prissy and he can’t be, God forbid, sexually threatening.

People think that the AMAs were a way for Adam to court publicity, but I just don’t see it that way. He did interpret the lyrics of the song, ABC did promote the hell out of his performance, he did go off-book, and ABC wants to punish him on one hand and milk him for information (and ratings) on the other. From what I just read about The View, I am disappointed, but not shocked, about what the conversation centered on.

This is how I see all of this, anyway.

In the end, tho, Adam will kill them with charm and killer vocals and looks.

And on the happy news front, YES, BeckyMD. It has been a great day. So much good news for Adam. I want to see him in a movie in the worst way, doing a cameo in the next Twilight movie and on the soundtrack, and in Glee. And in several more videos. And at the Oscars. And the list goes on.

And WWFM is getting significant airplay. So lots of Adam goodness.

No, she just mentioned on her show recently that she would love to have him on…(video somewhere).
Maybe an Adam appearance could give her a needed boost.. I love her!

Adam wasn’ suppose to be on the show dhunken. Bonnie had tweeted that she really wanted Adam to come on her show and that he was her Elvis+Prince! lol

I liked Bonnie Hunt’s show, also. She seemed like a real nice person and an Adam fan.

It seems Elisabeth Hasselbeck is trying to soften her views against Gay Marriage on today’s (Tuesday) show. She has been taking a lot of criticism for her strict conservative views. She seem to indicate that she was looking for answers. Of course, Whoopie has been working on some issues with her.

It will be good (for her image) if she is able to treat Adam nicely.

Adam’s make up tonight made him look a LOT older than he is. The hair didn’t help either. I realize it’s stage make up but……

Adam’s going to be on Chelsea Lately? I love Chelsea! She’s hilarious. I watch her show often, and I’m always disappointed that it’s only a half hour. She only gets to talk to her guest in the third segment for like 5 minutes. So, if Adam’s appearing, it won’t be a long appearance, but no doubt it will be pretty hilarious.

I watched that Vh1 “best of 2009″ special last night. I’m sure they’ll replay it 400 times this week. The whole thing was pretty amusing – a lot of good commentary. I recall that the Adam part was pretty complimentary, I think. But the whole show is entertaining, so I’d recommend it.
