Unlike Lady GaGa or Adam, Slim Shady is actually degrading people. His music is used as an anthem by hordes of ignorant masses who see it as all too real.

If you had heard all of Eminem’s music instead of the few so-called ‘shocking’ tracks, you might feel differently. Some of his songs have positive messages, some are very moving, some are crass. Then again, I’m probably just an ignorant mass

As for him having it easier than Adam – anyone saying that just doesn’t know Em’s history with the FCC and the media. We’re all entitled to our own opinion but not our own facts.

I didn’t hear Aiken mentioned, just L*mb*rt and Lance Bass.

Unlike a few, I don’t object to the term faggot (at least one gay friend greets us with “fags” in fact). I find many gays don’t feel passionately about it and only the chest thumpers are on par with blacks going on about the N-word when used by non-blacks. I prefer “queer” or even “fag” to “gay” because, to many and several friends, “gay” denotes a particular mind-set and culture to in which we don’t feel welcome nor a part.

What does irritate me is a double-standard. I was the lone non-black helping a grandmother move her and her 5 grandkids. Her sons were all “nigga,” “nigga,” “nigga” with each other, even talking about who the “overseer” would be–a clear reference to slavery.

If it’d been up to me they’d have been smacked upside the head. They didn’t do it when she was in earshot so they knew it wasn’t appropriate. Part of me has always wondered if they over used it because I was there.

This song….it’s alright. Reminds me of the other debut, pop culture tracks from his previous albums (like “The Real Slim Shady,” Without Me,” “Just Lose It,” and “We Made You”).

Is there a radio and album version of this song? Because that’s what I’m hearing and hence this ‘fake,’  versus the other f*****s word. But I don’t care enough to stay up to listen.

Oh and Adam, after not being upset about it (I KNOW! he totally should have been calling for a banning!) said in Twitter he thought it was ‘fake its,’  and so his bad.

Adam, your hypocrisy sickens me. Sure the might be two different versions, but even if not, there could be one that could possibly be totally offensive and your taking to the warpath, getting personally offended and droning on and on about banning of Eminem is just pathetic.

Where and when did Adam Lambert drone on and on about banning of Eminem? Are you referring to his comment that he supports his right to his schtick on um….Ellen I think it was? Link?

Em is behind the times. He needs to start mentioning SuBo. She DID beat his ass for debut albums. I expect him to rap about cats in his next song.

Oh heck. Eminem is just being Slim Shady. He IS offensive. That’s his gig. When my son went through his rap stage and was idolizing Eminem, I didn’t forbid him to buy his CDs because that’s just not the way my husband and I roll as parents. We’re more into the “don’t make it forbidden fruit, but discuss with him why we find something offensive or why others might find something offensive.” We ended up having a lot of interesting discussions about Eminem.

Yep. At times, certainly.

But when his “unpleasant truth” is that “these three guys are gay and I think they’re all big failures and phonies, haha!” (and one of the guys is Lance Bass who has been, like, a pretty hot music seller and only two of the three are potentially “fake” stars because they come from reality tv), then I think that what he’s actually doing is more like pointing to a “pleasant untruth” that plays well with the particular bigotry of at least some members of his hoped-for audience. …

Rather than uncovering “society’s polite illusions” and fighting the entrenched power thereby — which is what edgy art is expected to do — he’s actually just bolstering and pandering to the entrenched homophobic illusion that actually is dominant in our society.

Now, I’m sure that there are people who will say that what he’s bashing is “political correctness” or something.

But all he’s really doing is putting three guys down because, hey, they’re gay, and thus despisable, while he and his fans are not.
