Access Hollywood is counting down it’s Top 9 of 2009, and Adam Lambert is #5 on the list. The video piece is a greatest hits, more or less, of the show’s Adam coverage in the past few months.

Adam is set to take the stage at the big the Gridlock New Years Eve Party at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.   His 40 minute set begins at midnight.

Video after the JUMP…

    Sorry had to say it..

YAY!!! Adam rocked 2009. Looking forward to wonderful things from Adam. ;)

Although I really dislike Billy Bush, his comment at the end was interesting. I wonder how many other people learned to like the song because it kept getting played over and over when clips of the AMAs were shown? I know one thing, it is still selling, as a single, despite no radio play and promo!

  • http://www.irish-wolfhounds.com Buderschnookie

I don’t think FYE the single is dead yet, not by a long shot.
I think it is going to explode internationally and eventually become a hit here as well.

  • SparklesATL

    “Glam Shock Rocker”

    Yep, that about describes it.

  • PattyH

    ‘Glam Shock Rocker’

    Yep, that about describes it.

I liked that too and thought it was the perfect label.
Buderschnookie, I agree 100% with you on FYE. I have maintained that the U.S. radio PDs will have to eat it, :) when it comes back from Europe as a huge hit!

  • http://twitter.com/southpaw2009 Southpaw2009

go Adam!! I also think FYE will be a big hit internationally….

  • BeckyMD

FYE is really a good song.

  • SparklesATL

I think FYI will be a come back hit as well.

It’s time for both Kris and Adam to release new singles in a few more weeks. David Cook and Daughtry always have a couple of songs in rotation at the same time. One older and one new.

  • KayGee

Ohhh finally – some Adam news…it is really hard not to have anything to read that is relating to Adam. I can’t think of anyone that I have been so interested in since the R&B groups SHAI, and NEXT…

I don’t how this will play out as Adam has some down time here and there in the next few months. I suppose I will have to be one of those people that tries to find $$$ in an already overstretched budget to go to his concert next year. I want to see for myself what a live performance will be like without the AI machine in the background!!!

  • mitchellvii

Rolling Stone #1, Access Hollywood #5.

Again I ask, why the hell isn’t this man selling more records?

  • 129aquarius

YES! KayGee, I’m saving for the ADAMANDHISKICKASSBAND concert! I went to two AI concerts last summer and was amazed at the freedom Adam was allowed, but then again, it’s ADAM! Can you imagine the outrageous, uninhibited energy the solo tour will provide? All FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT!!!

  • PattyH

Can you imagine the outrageous, uninhibited energy the solo tour will provide? All FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT!!!

I think tomorrow night will give us all a good indication! :)

  • emmuzka

I think it is going to explode internationally and eventually become a hit here as well.

On the other hand, as a European, I don’t think that WWFM will be a hit in Europe. It’s too straight-and-narrow (no pun intended). Europeans want their disco glittering, their rock rocking, and their ballads cheesy. WWFM isn’t enough of any of the former. I think that Fever, FYE, If I had You and Broken Open would do better in here.

Also, I’m really waiting for Brad Walsh’s remix of FYE. Genius move to add the breathing sounds in the mix :)

And: “Again I ask, why the hell isn’t this man selling more records?”

Because he doesn’t have a hit single. Yet.

Yeah – but not all of us will get to see that. We will probably see some homemade video where the person recording was screaming like a banshee fish and distorting all things ADAM – LOL.

I need to see a clean version of his performance in order to appreciate it…I am hoping!!!

  • LaurelG

Again I ask, why the hell isn’t this man selling more records?

Well, he apparently sold 62k albums last week. Give him time. He has the drive and the talent. He’ll succeed.

Count me as another true believer in the power of FYE. I love the song (and have from the first time I heard it) and I think it will eventually become a hit.

  • PattyH

Haha.. probably.. i never thought of that scenario. I was imagining a clear HD quality vdo… LOLs to that. Back to reality NOW!

  • 129aquarius

KayGee you are two funny!–”screaming like a banshee fish”! It brings back memories of a few of the Mad World “sing-along” youtube vids last summer- or the Bowie Medley vids with, “Oh my effing God!” over and over drowning out the superb vocals of BB!

  • Mainegal

“PattyH ..Oh there will be very good You Tubes! Count on it!”

PattyH…I’m counting on it! I know our fellow Adam fans will come thru for us!….and if there is any “Oh my effing God” drowning out the vocals..it better be ME in my living room!

Also, I’m in the “FYE will be BIG” camp…I love it, and everyone I have played it for loves it. Be patient. The Glam Shock Rocker God will triumph!

  • http://twitter.com/southpaw2009 Southpaw2009

I just learned that Adam sold 417,000 units… He might go gold soon, who knows, wait and see then…

  • star

I dunno about Kris, but Adam? No way. WWFM is still moving up and has a lot of room to grow. They won’t put out a new single for Adam until WWFM appears to have hit its peak. If it makes a run for the Top 10, it will be a few months before there’s news of another single.

  • http://www.twitter.com/CrazyCircle CrazyCircle

I just learned that Adam sold 417,000 units’ ¦ He might go gold soon, who knows, wait and see then’ ¦

    Well that’s good news.

Now if Adam could just get played on the radio in NC, he might sell some records here too!

P.S., When they say 417,000 units, are they counting the Standard and Deluxe Versions together?

  • mitchellvii

Personally, I would like “If I Had You” to be the next single released. It is the best dance song (abba) on the record, IMHO and would play well on the radio.

  • BeckyMD

I really hope FYE will come back BIG, hoho

On another note, I wish I have the skills to mash up Sure Fire Winners and NFL. The lyrics is just fit, such as ‘pretty boys’ (hello Tony Romo, Tom Brady and Eli Manning…), ‘hall of fame’, ‘sure fire winners’, ‘big time hitters’ and ‘Giving you something to shout about’ (so true. my throat was sour after this Monday night’s game).

  • vmac

Yesterday, while shopping at the mall with my 17 year old daughter, we heard Master Plan being piped through the Free People store. I was surprised because my daughter recognized Adam’s voice before I did. It was so unexpected but exciting to hear him singing while we were shopping!! Great song!!!

I’ve been saying that too. Even the Olympics.

  • luval

Luv FYE!!!!! Thank you Billy Bush. Never liked him too much either, but as you can see….our boy has a way of bringing them around!.

FYE does seem to have legs…Hope it gets bigger and bigger.

Don’t forget to vote on Vh1 too for the mv.

  • PattyH

Wow, vmac! I’d say that store has an employee who’s a fan, since that’s a bonus track! Cool!

  • unique28v

I wonder when this aired? Adam has sold over 400,000 records which is double the 200,000 mentioned. But thats cool that Billy Rush said that at the end. A lot of songs have grown on me after I heard them over and over and over again.

I was just think this when listening on the ride in this morning. Very uplifting “do do do do do’ love it!

  • Mainegal

vmac…..I love Master Plan. Actually, it’s my #1 pick for Adam’s NYE gig. I always imagine a live performance of MP w/ a big, rockin’ kick-ass horn section and the crowd screaming along “we are the face of the new generation!!”
(God, I wish I could be there..)

  • luval

Mainegalo….love Master Plan too. The image you present of the crowd screaming sounds craaaaazy!!!

And AnninSd….love If I Had You too. The words are so fitting for the club crowd….nothing matters except Love.

FYE is one of my top 5 songs on the album too. When Adam does a second album, and maybe if he incorporates a more techno sound, I would love him to release Oh My Ra…am sure you’ve all heard this, but in case not (turn it up!!)

That is so funny, for me it is Music again, something about it just remindes me of ABBA! I think “If I had You” will be the next single, Adam said that in his interview with SiriusFM radio, I personally like Strut or Fever as a possible next single, but Strut is better (or betterer:) ),because Adam has a cowrite on it, and Fever may be concidered as “GaGa song” by some ppl and treated as a “cover” even though we all know it was never recorded by her.

Monetarily that would equate to $1,663,830 – if they were all sold for $3.99 each (which was the price of the CD on the day after the AMAs), so no matter what, Adam has come up financially through all of this. I am happy for him. (I know he only gets a certain %age of the $$$, but still, he’s on his way!!! ) GO ADAM!!!

Yeah – the edit option is back (or was I delusional) – LOL

  • Jurnee

MSN Music year in Review has a list of the Hits and Misses of 2009. Adam is in the “Hit List”.

    Music Hits and Misses
    Hit: Adam Lambert

Victorious loser: “American Idol” voters in 2009 gave the final edge to Kris Allen’s sanitized-for-your-protection nice-guy pop, but it was Glambert’s over-the-top theatricality and Force Five pipes that earmarked the next “Idol” graduate headed for platinum stardom. Proudly bending gender and saluting the glitterati of rock’s glorious ’70s glam-rock heyday, Lambert clearly relishes his outsized showbiz charisma. (RCA)

I agree with you about the mashup with Sure Fire Winners and the NFL.
Wish I knew someone with connections there. Or wish someone from the NFL knew about mj’s blog. I’m gonna go on one of their websites and search around….There has to be a “contact” catagory somewhere.

  • iluvai

    I love Master Plan too.

VMAC– That’s great that you heard Adam at the mall. On another thread I posted that my kids and I heard Adam’s FYE at an iceskating rink the other day. That was unexpected and exciting!!!

  • iluvai

He is so cute! Love the video….

That was the price of the digital album on Amazon. Total album sales of 417,000 units, only 52,000 were digital. Also, Amazon’s share of the digital market is miniscule to Itunes share. His opening week sales don’t even account to 1/2 his total sales and that sale of $3.99 was for 1 day during his opening week.

  • crazedemcee

He is nowhere close to reaching an ROI with his sales (417,000 for FYE album + 300,000 or so for singles)… but I’m glad he’s doing fairly well at this point. I was expecting his album sales for week five would plummet without any promotion whatsoever, so kudos!

On the brighter side, he has made it in a lot of lists this 09… good or bad, it’s all publicity and all to his benefit IMO…
