Not only did Ace Young co-host this year’s Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, but he performed too.

Check him out singing the jazz standard, “It Had to Be You” and the Beatles’ “Come Together”.

Plus, Ace rocks the fedora!

Sorry, but I find Ace to be a very wimpy singer. (Disclaimer, I got through 2 lines of the song before I had to give up.) I don’t think he has much going for him but his looks and I have a real problem with men who are prettier than me. Just not a fan I guess. I do think he has a fairly awesome personality though.

  • JazzRocks

I’ve always loved this song, but Ace does an average job. If that. Not a very good singer.

Ace was my favorite S5. I lost interest in him when he kept saying good things were in the works and 2 years passed before anything happened. Now, I realize his voice is blah. At the time, I was too distracted by the pretty, I suppose.

Could not get through all this performance. Do wish him well with his fiance.

    Must go wipe memory.

    Well, I enjoyed it.

    He was okay.

Nor do I think he aspires to be or should even concern himself to want to be’ ¦

Ace is his own person and has shown so by the route he has taken to do his album. He is another one, like it was said about Bo Bice in his thread, who has stayed busy, even if his music was not played more.

    Well, I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it, too. I think it shows versatility when an artist can sing something outside his usual genre and sound good. Maybe his performance did not appeal to some because this kind of style of music is not what is usually expected of him. Ace holds a special place for me , as he was the first one from Idol I became interested in enough to follow and keep up with. I have to agree, though, with one previous poster who sais she lost interest. Mine has waned some, too, because Ace was simply not keeping his fans up to date with what he is doing, especially after “Grease.” I do hope he realizes that keeping the fans interested is important and that we can see and hear more of him.

I was a big fan of Ace’s in Season 5 .. still love his performance of Father Figure. I like some of the stuff on his album but don’t think these songs are his type of thing … not unpleasant but just not that suiting to his voice.

  • JRB5776

    He also sang “Come Together”.

I enjoyed the lookingI mean the singing ;-)

I thought Ace did an amazing job, The song choices were perfect. Yes Ace is a goodlooking guy but he is MORE THAN a pretty face. Ace is his OWN person, He wasnt trying to be someone else & that what I like about him. Ace did want he wanted to do & thats what he was comfortable with. I do agree he needs to keep his fans more informed but other than that. He is a REALLY great guy.

Another Idol whose music I am not familiar with. I thought I recall seeing him interviewing Season 8 finalists. Thought he did a better job at that, than the girl he was with. If he can hone his hosting, I think I will like him better ( or like looking at him better ) than Seacrest. I think he will look great in a tux. He kinds of remind me a bit of Hugh Jackman. Just my thoughts.

Just realized there is a lot of “Idols” out there still looking for that big break even after Idol exposure.

    Well, I enjoyed it.

    Me too!!!!!

  • Grammie Kari

Yes, I was disappointed in Ace’s singing. There were several male singers in his segment that were so much better than he is. Having said that, he is a gorgeous man. I have described Jason as a Greek God; Ace Young also fills that definition for me!

If he can hone his hosting, I think I will like him better ( or like looking at him better ) than Seacrest.

Yes! Ace seems so likeable and sincere. I thought he did a fine job with passing along information on MDA. Wishing him the best of luck with Grease.

Ace is indeed a very likeable person. He has done a lot for charity and fellow Idols. He and his fans helped raise money for a wing for the Children’s Hospital in Denver. He was ready to take Chris Daughtry’s place on Idol, if Chris were the one to be eliminated. And he has helped Sherman Pore, that older gentleman that sang at the audition in honor of his late girlfriend, put out a cd to raise funds for cancer research.

Btw, Grammie Kari, Ace did “Grease” last year, beginning, if I recall correctly, shortly after Thanksgiving, until early January of this year, when it was closed down early due to the economy. That piece on the telethon you saw where they mention him on “Grease” was from last year’s telethon broadcast. From what I recall reading, the ticket sales for the show went up thanks to Ace. When you type in “Ace Young Grease” on youtube, it will bring up several links with Ace. The link below was a taping that was done for the CBS Thanks giving Day Parade last year.

    .

To shamelessly paraphrase the ever-wise FifthHouseSun, this season at mj’s had some veterans from previous seasons, but many of us sharing the tour experience on this blog are indulging in our first active AI fanship ‘“ or fanship of anyone. We have shared our disbelief at finding ourselves being thus engaged.

So now that the season is over it’s like last day of camp.

We’ll never have these particular moments of watching the career launch of people we admire, and sharing it with other people we also only know ‘technologically’ but admire too.

    CHEERS EVERYONE!!!
    .

P.S. Vada, and MrsB, you’ve been missed!! Noctum, I doubt you’re here, but just in case you’ve decided to stick your head here tonight ‘“ have a drink!

[stumbles in bleary-eyed with Diet Coke in hand, wearing bunny slippers, and carrying Mary Poppins magic carpet bag - which has turned plaid for the occasion]

Yea! First single today. WOO HOO!!!

[Locates metaphorical sideboard. Opens carpetbag. Pulls out coffee urns, hot water canisters, a mixed assortment of tea and a batch of Red Bulls]

Kris is the Red Bull addict, right? Or is just energy drinks in general? The caffine DOES have an effect on him though! ;-)

[Finds spare piano bench in metaspace. Sets monitor upon it that rotates through pictures of Kris (in varying patterns of plaid), Katy, and tour bubbletweets.]

[Pulls out cables, electrical tape, and flashlight from carpet bag and takes a few minutes to connect speaker cabinets to the radio that has suddenly appeared.]

Hey. Found Wolfgang! :-) [places on top of speakers]

[Rummages again through the carpetbag. Pulls out batch of steaming pumpkin muffins. Looks again and finds doughnuts. Starts setting them on plates.]

Here ‘ya go guys. If anything’s missing, just grab it from the bag. [grin] The usual lollipops are in there too. Help yourselves.

    ENJOY THE SONG!!!
