American Idol Extra co-host Ace Young went on tour with David Cook and his band.

David says he’s writing songs on the road. He texts lyrics to himself so he can save them. They discuss his new video and his alter-ego “Terry the Lighting Tech.”

Plus, some “special” fans make an appearance. “We’ve got some very diligent fans,” says David. Ahem.

Video after the Jump…

  • CathyMK

I love that they highlighted “We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping” in that video. It’s great to see David’s pre-Idol work slowly coming out of hiding!

  • SpenserJ

    Plus, some à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“specialà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ fans make an appearance. à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve got some very diligent fans,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ says David. Ahem.

You know what Ace was thinking when that chick said she’d been to 16 shows “Hmm, I feel your pain Dave – I’ve got a few of these nutburgers myself” LOL.

Ace looks very handsome with that haircut. David Cook seems like a very nice guy.

  • AInoob

That was fun to watch. Ace seems like a very nice guy and from his nice words about David and the band it sounds like they all hit it off. What was with Jillian asking Ace the same question (what kind of audience does David have) before and after the clip of him on tour with DC? Maybe if she paid attention… :lol_wp:

  • ShariG

So fun to watch. Thanks for posting this. David is fantastic. Not so sure about the whole Terry the Light Technician thing, but how fun that he gets to stay silly and funny and enjoying the whole experience. I wondered if the tape was looping or something when she asked the same question twice. Was that a Larry King technique to see if you were telling the truth the first time? Or just a ditsy interviewer who didn’t listen to the first answer?

  • Lisa

16 shows? I have no words.

  • mac

So is that “stalker” going to go to all of the concerts? What are there, like 50? And what about the Philippines, is she going to fly all the way over there? I’ll bet she’s ecstatic that she got on TV. Just what she needs, more attention. :rolleyes_tb:

  • Keel

Isn’t that what the Deadheads did? Follow the Grateful Dead around from concert to concert? Although on second thought, they at least had the weed to blame it on.

(By the way, it’s not just this one person but a few others, as I understand it, who are following the band. But I do not believe they are the crazy stalker fans that try to search out their hotel rooms and stuff. Nonetheless, I’m sure David and the band (as nice as they probably are to them) are just (more than) a touch creeped out by their behavior. Who wouldn’t be?)

  • leome

Even though someone following a tour is something a bit OTT for most of us, I’m not sure I’d call people who do it stalkers (not all of them at least). I mean, I’ve heard of people doing it for years and they don’t exactly stalk the musicians. Don’t know if it’s the case or not, but attending many shows does not mean you’re a stalker, if you behave.

The video was really cool, I liked to see a bit of the bts. And it’s great they showed We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping.
    Oh, and I love Terry!

  • sunchick

    I love that they highlighted à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re Only Honest When Weà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re Sleepingà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ in that video.

I know, right? I barely noticed the inconsequential two second flash of the Penny Lane wannabes cuz we got We’re Only Honest When We’re Sleeping footage on AI Extra. :clap_tb:

Yeah, so Honest and ADAM are my favorite Cook songs, which means I want to hear the rest of that super sekrit mystery album something fierce. Dammit! Who is the cruel bastard keeping it locked in a vault somewhere anyway? 19? I’m so stoked that they featured it, anyway. Gives me hope that the rest of the tunes will surface eventually, especially because I think that’s the first time he’s mentioned it in conjunction with an AI related function.

Could have used more of the Terry/Mace Young interaction. The Pork Beans featuring the two of them was hysterical.

  • SashaB

I love how DC is always thinking musically and lyrically. Cute that he texts himself riffs/lyrics. Whatever works. That’s cool.

Ace seems like a really good guy. Good host, too. The other cohost, not so much. Good segment. Nice how Idol seems to take care of some of their alumni or serve as a launching pad for a variety of paths in the entertainment industry, not just on Broadway either. Justin, Ace, Chikeze, and the others who might not have been as break out as Kelly, Carrie, or Chris Daughtry can still have good careers in the entertainment business/industry.

  • sunchick

That’s true, Sasha. Ace seems to be a natural at the hosting stuff, and he was such a good sport with , um, Terry. Jillian kinda gets on my nerves, but I think it’s mostly residual annoyance from her stint as the resident eye candy and football moron on Fox NFL Sunday.

  • Garnetstar

Crap! They got rid of JD? Stinkin Economy…Crappy TPTB…He always brought a level of class to that show and his boot questions were always insightful. Now we have Adrian. Meh…

That segment with David was really nice. I love We’re Only Honest. Great riff and hook. Love it. Wish it were available for itunes download…

  • lizland

Jillian is almost as bad a host as Kim Caldwell, although she was even worst last week. It’s all about them. This was the first year I watched those shows, but I won’t be watching either of them anymore.

  • progression

Jillian kinda gets on my nerves, but I think ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s mostly residual annoyance from her stint as the resident eye candy and football moron on Fox NFL Sunday.

Well, I’ve never seen her before, and she certainly got on my nerves in no time. What is with these interviewers who think we are more interested in them than we are in who they are interviewing? Bring back JD.

  • SashaB

MJ, FYI – DC’s Come Back to Me video is available for purchase on iTunes. I just bought it.

ETA: Jillian was the ass who interviewed the Season 7 top 10 finalist before the Idol Tour started. Referred to the other 9 as Losers. She’s the cohost/weather person for Good Day LA. Blech.

  • pj

Ace looks very handsome with that haircut. David Cook seems like a very nice guy.

I’m loving Ace’s haircut and the improvement in style. I guess the show said no to the t-shirts and beanies. ;-)

As for Terry, I say go Cookie. I can understand why he’d want to observe things as someone else. Kinda cool. Reminds me of Blake’s Bob Bobberson. No harm, no foul.

  • Trina

After listening to tonights cellcert all I can say is WELCOME BACK DAVID! Sounded like he was on fire, and this was probably the best kind of crowd for him to come back to. This was the same festival Kellie played last night.

  • widz

CBTM Music Video now up on iTunes:

    Come Back to Me

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

I was of course at tonight’s show and it was FANTASTIC! I have to say WELCOME BACK DAVID indeed! Speaking of Terry, he came out to talk to us just briefly before Ryan took to the stage. Hee! DC was really amazed at the size of the crowd tonight. I don’t think he was really excepting this huge of a turnout.

After Declaration he told us to turn and around and look at the seats and say bye bye chair. No joke. :laugh_tb: That got the crowd really motivated and onto their feet.

During Lie, he got extremely emotional. He seemed really overwhelmed by the crowd response and had to stop to compose himself for about a minute or so. It was really touching to see this.

HFT was EPIC! I have no other words to describe that song other than that. The cellcasts do not do this song justice at all!

We got love impresonations of Simon, Paula, Randy, and Ryan but the impersonation of Simon was just priceless! :lol_tb: I think DC has Ryan’s AI script down pat. In his own words he said, to vote 1-866-IDOLS12. :laugh_tb: The big highlights of the night had to be the sign in the front row that a little girl held up that said, “David will you marry my sister”. The little girl was just precious. At this point DC stops and asks the little girl to point to her sister and of course the sister was very embarrassed. :laugh_tb: He told her maybe they could work something out after the show. Heh

The man was very chatty tonight which was wonderful to see. I am anxious to see any vids that surface later. :D

  • annabelina

    Re: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Terry the Lighting Tech.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬
    I love David. :lol_ee:

Is it bad that I love the songs coming from his unreleased independent album more than most the songs on his current album?

And yeah, I wasn’t too happy either when I hear Jillian was co-hosting Idol Extra this year. =/

  • Jeter021992

I was at this concert because it was at my school. Besides the “16 shows” girls I was the first actual Rowan student in line. I got interviewed by Ace and got to take pictures with him and everything. I guess I wasn’t a “crazy” enough fan to make it on the video! Oh well it is probably a good thing I didn’t get lumped into the insane fan group.

  • EmmaJK

Thank you for the recap, Pam! I listened to the cellcast, and he sounded happy and upbeat. Heard a lot of crowd laughter during his banter.

During Lie, he got extremely emotional. He seemed really overwhelmed by the crowd response and had to stop to compose himself for about a minute or so.

Aww, I wondered what the long pause in “Lie” was due to. He seems so consistently surprised by the turnout and enthusiasm for his concerts. He really has no idea, does he? He’s such a sweetie.

Sounds like it was a great night, and I can’t wait for video to turn up.

  • Michelle

Thanks for the concert report Pam! Sounds like everything is back on track for David :) And I guess Kellie was a nice “opening act” ;)

They put CBTM vid up for sale pretty fast! I did a quick check and the album is #9 and the single is up to #16 and outselling LO by a big margin. I guess there are some good things about the Idol machine!

That was fun to see behind the scenes of the tour — wow, Ace got a haircut, lol.

  • cookmerized

adorable package with ace. am i crazy or did they show some out takes of the kiss? more extended lip locking and possible tongue action? i can answer my own question – yes, i’m crazy. but i do think there is more of the kiss that we didn’t get to see in the video.

  • cookcricket

Pam, thank you so much for the concert recap! Woot!

I love the Pork Beans Terry, Lighting Tech! Love that he’s writing songs on the road.

Off to buy CBTM vid!!! Thanks all for the heads up!

  • Deejay

This is all making me so disappointed that I can’t attend one of the shows. :down_tb:

  • Layla

Pam- thanks so much for the concerct recap. I am so bloody haoppy that he sounds on form again- cause I was worried about my boy. He’s still the soggy cookie isn’t he? So glad he hasn’t lost the wonder of it all.

Damn! I wish he could release some stuff from that unreleased album..would love love love to hear some cuts.

So happy about CBTM! And the record is climbing the charts again. Go David Go!

  • bjesgirl

Ace is so purty. Like, Rob Lowe pretty. That’s as pretty as guys can get. And he’s so sweet and nice. Love him.

As for Cook, I still find him grossly overrated as a singer, writer, and performer. Everything about him is so average (especially his new song), yet the praise just keeps piling on. But there’s no denying that he seems like a really cool, down to earth guy. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s got charisma for days. I love watching his interviews because he always handles things so well, and with such class.

Oh, and I can’t stand whats-her-name. She just rubs me to wrong way.

  • Jolene

That was so great to see! Thank you for capturing this, MJ.
I always find the BTS stuff so interesting and fun to watch, since we normally don’t see a whole lot of it.
Ace was great (though I loved him more in the Pork Beanz he did, which speaking of – I want a new one), Jillian was terrible (poor Ace, having to answer the same question twice without calling her out on it), DC was awesome, and the only thing missing was a little more band.

Good thing DCO has a gifting campaign for International fans, otherwise I’d be green with envy about the CBTM video on iTunes. I already watched it mumbly times on AT&T, but I needs it, my precioussss. LOL

  • kimberann

I love all the cookie love! I don’t get the alter ego thing, but that’s ok.

  • CFIdolsfan

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m loving Aceà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s haircut and the improvement in style. I guess the show said no to the t-shirts and beanies. ;-)

Ace had his hair short before Idol. He let it grow, from what I understand, to eventually give it to Locks of Love. But because his many fans loved his long hair, he didn’t go through with it at the time. He cut it to play the part of Kenickie in “Grease,” and the decision to keep it short did not have to do, I don’t think, with being on AI Extra. He is concentrating more now on songwriting, so I believe the change in image has to do with that. Btw, his song “Let Go” that was recorded by European artist Janet Leon, has made it to #1, according to his blog profile at AI.

  • gingerly

Hee, Terry came out and played flute for Ryan last night during Brand New Day. While he’s no Ian Anderson, and it’s similar to his piano playing on Silver, it was still all kinds of awesome. The cellcast was great last night! David is Back!

  • ordinarygirl09

Ick. David needs to wash his hair, he is always so dirty looking and not in a good way.

    now ACE is hot!

  • weareallinnocent

Very nice! Thanks for the recap, Pam. Good to know Cook is back in stride. :-)

  • jumpstart

16 shows? I have no words.

Hmmm, yeah. I’d settle for one.

Love seeing Ace again, he’s a great addition to AI Extra. Jillian is extremely annoying and can leave just any time (the sooner, the better).

As always, DC looks absolutely smokin’ hot.

  • rockvixen

David is losing his sex appeal :o hmy_tb: He’s going bald. :sad_tb:

  • hypertwink

It’s weird because I didn’t like Ace before because of his hair, but now I’ve seen him shorn, I think I like Ace with longer hair.

  • gingerly

For me sex appeal doesn’t equal hair. Ewww, especially on his back. For me there’s so much more than appearance that goes into sex appeal. I also never found a pretty man very sexy. I don’t want to have to compete for mirror time (and lord knows, I need all I can get), and that’s what pretty men always make me think I will have to do. For me sex appeal has more to do with personality and attitude than just sheer good looks.

David Cook is one smexy man!

  • sunchick

Pam, it sounds like you were treated to an epic concert. Luckeeeeeee. That crowd was insane. Happy that you had such a good time.

Ron Burgundy and his jazz flute have some competition…. :laugh_tb:

As for Cook, I still find him grossly overrated as a singer, writer, and performer.

Mileage on this of course does vary. After seeing him live, I think he’s pretty underrated as a singer and writer. The decision to go with CBTM as a follow up to LO still baffles me a bit, because yeah, it’s an pleasant, average tune, but I don’t think it highlights any of the best things about Cook as an artist in the way that Permanent or BBS or Avalanche or Lie or Declaration do… It’s ducky that Cook’s apparently a nice guy, and the hottness is a bonus that has not gone unnoticed *cough* but my main interest is the music. I’ve been to a crapload of concerts, and sitting on a stool for an acoustic gig, David’s performance of Permanent and MITB would rank among my all time favorite experiences. I’m looking forward to catch a plugged in set this time around as I have yet to witness the full effect of the band.

  • AInoob

Sunchick, when you do get to go you will not be disappointed – the full effect is amazing. The energy on that stage is infectious. As for the rest of your post, I’ll just say “word” to everything you said. You said it so much better than I would have anyway.

  • unidentified

For me sex appeal doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t equal hair. Ewww, especially on his back. For me thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s so much more than appearance that goes into sex appeal. I also never found a pretty man very sexy.

Talking about the sexy. I think David is very sensual, (I hate that word, but he is) it just oozes from him. I don’t think he particularly good looking, just average guy looks. But he does have things about him that stand out that make him hot. Like his eyes, lips, arms, great shoulders, confidence, smarts, etc. Kind of like Sean Connery, not really good looking, but hot. Mario Lopez, really good looking, but not a bit sexy. IMO.

But everyone has different opinions on what is hot. Good thing I think.

  • Linny

Funny how most everyone agrees that the choice of Jillian as host is alarming. What audience are we trying to reach with her sitting there? How does she relate to these kids? I don’t care what records are in HER collection. Now Ace – that’s another story. That’s a WISE choice. As each week unfolds, despite the teentsy amount of airtime they give him, he is shining! HE should be the main host and get rid of the non-Idol chica. As for the ‘new’ look – the boy is a 28 year old man. Let’s see something besides the jeans and tshirt. Let’s can the beanie for TV. It’s nice to see a shirt and tie. It’s what grownups do, you know?? And let Ace give some class and credibility to an otherwise schlocky format.

Can you tell I’m an old ace fan? this is why. :-)

  • Trina

As for Cook, I still find him grossly overrated as a singer, writer, and performer. Everything about him is so average (especially his new song), yet the praise just keeps piling on.

As with everything everyone has opinions and their own personal taste. Obviously fans are going to praise him. I find Kanye West to be an overrated jackass yet I know people who think he’s the second coming of music. The world would be a boring place if we all agreed.

For me sex appeal has more to do with personality and attitude than just sheer good looks.

    Yep.

The last time the subject of his hair came up I brought up Kenny Chesney. Kenny is my first musical love. I and tons and tons of other women find him to be sexy as hell. He pretty much lives and breathes with a cowboy hat on. Why? Because he’s completely bald. Even if he came out performing without his hat on I would think hes a sexy mofo because IMO he has enough charisma and stage presence to make up for it.

  • sunchick

Bald=unsexy? If Jason Statham heard you say that, he would probably kick your ass. And look damn sexy doing it. :tongue1_tb:

You said it so much better than I would have anyway.

Except for the egregious grammatical errors that I just noticed. Eep.

  • kathrynTX

sunchick and Pam FTW! I love you guys. sunchick said “egregious.” heh. I don’t even know what I wanted to say here right now. ETA: Jason Statham FTW too! I love those Transporter movies. hee. He was an Olympic diver, did ya know that? He’s fabulous.

I am just overwhelmed with Cookness right now! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I am so pissed I didn’t check iTunes last night for the video. GRRRRR. Well I can still watch today on att.net. Will try to remember to go through mjs for purchase.

DCTR and CBTM are doing great! GO DAVID! HOORAY! GAWD, I’m so excited for him. AND only 18 DAYS TIL I GET TO SEE DAVID COOK & EEB LIVE, IN ACTION!

I’m kinda annoyed at that group of people following the band who seem to get themselves up front consistently. GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE. I can only get to ONE show. Come on, people. And how are they funding this travel? I’m mystified by that, that they have the time & money to do this! Of course, I wish I did! hahaha. I still say I wouldn’t HOG the front row at every show though.

Watched the AI Extra interview yesterday. Love Ace. YAY Ace! LOVE DAVE. Love Terry the Light Tech. Cook is an idiot. I love him. Quit watching video when interview with Cook was done. Woman is somewhat annoying, I agree.

DCTR climbing the iTunes chart again! CBTM climbing. Video will too, soon as we can all buy our own copy. Oh David, I’m so THRILLED for you!

  • BootStar

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m kinda annoyed at that group of people following the band who seem to get themselves up front consistently. GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE. I can only get to ONE show. Not to mention that several concerts were for students only (or students, faculty and staff), that one at Rowan (where this was filmed) included. Are these chicks just lying their way into these concerts?

I don’t know why on earth anybody would want to encourage that behavior, but maybe the folks who did the video didn’t realize what their MO is. I wonder if DC knew they’d be making a “guest appearance” in the video?

  • rockvixen

When his hair falls out and he looks like a giant squarehead which will happen in a few years, he will be totally unsexy. Definitely. His head is way too huge to hide under a rug.

  • Anya

I saw David in AC and couldn’t understand why people were so raving about him. The show was average, he and his band were kinda average in performance and looks. If he ever gets out of AI’s claws and is still viable, he should definitely go in the direction of stripped down alt rock as opposed to stuff like CBTM or Light On. He seems like a nice guy, his “the best thing since the Beatles” rep notwithstanding.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

I am so glad someone got video of this last night.

Azalea Queen dances with DC on stage.

Notice the reference to David Cassidy which is about DC’s dancing skills and of course as he said “it never hurts to have a pretty girl stage since the prettiest girl is Kyle. :lol_tb:

  • AInoob

rockvixen, from interviews I’ve read with David he’d probably be the first to agree with you about him being unsexy, LOL. Mileage.

Speaking for myself, whether he goes bald, becomes fat, whatever superficial stuff may change over time, as long as his voice remains what it is, I’ll be a fan. Because at the end of the day, I didn’t become a fan of his because I thought he was attractive. I don’t drop my money on music just because I think a singer is hot because my ears can’t “see” the prettiness ;)

Has David been overpraised (outside the fanbase, of course)? His concerts are getting mostly positive reviews but I haven’t read anything that gave me the impression they were blowing smoke up his butt. Fans, of course, are effusive in their praise but I’ve never come across an article that gave him over the top praise.

  • EmmaJK

I saw David in AC and couldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t understand why people were so raving about him. The show was average

I’m kind of curious as to why you went. Are you a fan?

Eh, I was going to repeat my “why I’m a fan” speech, but I’m thinking it’s kind of pointless to try and defend him to those who just don’t like him; whether for his performance, his singing, or his hair. If you don’t like him, you don’t. There’s plenty of us that do, though.

Maybe the folks raving about him really mean it. Mileage.

  • Michelle

I am so glad someone got video of this last night.

Wow. Queen Azalea was *rockin’ out*!

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

One thing that Ace mentioned was really dead on accurate and that was in reference to the wide age ranges of the audience. Last night I saw a lot of young children with their parents, grandmas, and plenty of ladies in the 20-40ish age range but there were a lot of men there as well. We basically had every single age group represented last night.

LMAO. I’ve been reading comments about David’s hair for over a year now, and I care now just as much as I cared months ago – zilch, nada, zero.
    It’s the VOICE, y’all, it’s the voice.
He isn’t a model and he needn’t be. Mileage, opinion, all that good stuff.

Supposedly the CBTM video is climbing iTunes and is currently #22. And I have yet to purchase my copy! Yikes.

  • jumpstart

LMAO. Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve been reading comments about Davidà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s hair for over a year now, and I care now just as much as I cared months ago – zilch, nada, zero.

    Exactly. :cool1_tb:

  • Sydia

I agree that the voice made me not notice the pretty, at first. However, upon closer inspection, it was jumping out at me. I think he is beautiful; in a male guy next door kinda way. As far as his hair, yea, not a full head of hair, but he has enough to make him look delicious. Jusst annn ooopinion(mine of course). Cook = scrumptious. Nuff said.

  • annabelina

I do think as a musician/performer/writer, David certainly has miles to go, although I’m enjoying his journey so far. =) His appeal to me personally is that he just seems to be an all around good person, and I think that was best displayed throughout last season as well as pretty much any interview he does. I could elaborate more, but I’ll just leave it at that. =)

  • leome

Yeah. And if that’s being bald I’d like to know what people call to those who actually have no hair whatsoever. I think he has more hair than back in those Hpapy Together days. David doesn’t have to be the guy with the most hair in the world to be a talented person on what he does. It reminds me of those people who keep calling Kelly fat. If bald and fat are the two things people find to criticize an artist, I guess they’re doing something good.

I couldn’t understand if the that reporter asked Ace the same question twice or they just repeated it. She probably wanted him to tell the show was full of cougars. But Ace didn’t bite.

  • oceana

It seemed to be an editing goof when Idol Extra showed the same question twice. I thought they did a retake for some reason and accidently showed both versions. I can’t imagine that Ace would answer it the 2nd time otherwise, as if he hadn’t just answered it. Oops.

As for David’s sexiness, to each their own. To me he’s attractive and sexy. To his fans he is. Those who find Kenny Chesney or Justin Timberlake or anyone else sexy, good for them. I mean, to each their own. (I don’t see anything sexy about JT. He totally turns me off.)

I really liked David in his beanie, tshirt and jeans. I wish he’d dressed like that on Idol, actually. LOL.

  • http://airincaol.com coco

he looks bloated and resembles donald trump, but seems like a sweet fun guy.

  • Laurie

David is losing his sex appeal? Tell that to the thousands of fans that were on his fansite the night he performed on AI! lol! From all the comments I have read on various sites, his sex appeal just skyrocketed with the release of the new video. Talk about a beautiful man! That video is gorgeous and the man can act! Between the face, the voice, and the visuals of the video, I was completely captivated! As far as AI Extra, Jillian is a very bad fit for the show. JD gave the show class, she is not a very good interviewer. She seems distracted and I think her co-host would be a far better host.

  • wonderwhy

David is losing his sex appeal

I never thought he had any.

  • hypertwink

And as some have already said, YMMV.

LOL. Just LOL at the direction this thread has taken.

Oh BTW – that screen cap cracks me up every time. It looks like Dave and Kyle are some crime fighting duo on the job. Kyle looks like he’s trying really hard to solve something. IDK why but it cracks me up.

    Donald Trump? Really? *raises eyebrow*
    I mean, reeeeallly?

You’re fired. Ba dump bump chhhht. Thank you, I’ll be here all week.

ETA: LMAO, Jolene. Now I have the The Ambiguously Gay Duo theme song (from SNL) in my head when I look at that picture.

This conversation has taken an amusing turn.

Ick. David needs to wash his hair, he is always so dirty looking and not in a good way.

    now ACE is hot!

Eh…I prefer David. It’s a good thing we aren’t all attracted to the same people.

David is losing his sex appeal Heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s going bald.

…You just noticed he’s losing hair? I don’t think his sex appeal was ever in his hair anyway. Maybe he’ll find some kind of treatment that works to save the hair, but he’ll be ok either way Chris Daughtry isn’t having any issues.

  • hypertwink

He needs hair or he’ll be next in line to play Lex Luthor in the next Superman movie. Hee.

I’ve been studying that hair intently (along with the rest of the head) for over a year now, and I must say I haven’t noticed that the hair is getting any thinner. I think he just has thin hair and a high forehead. But the hairstyle more than makes up for it. Well, that and the EYES.

Thank you MJ for posting this video. We are not able to see this program in our area. We do get Fox TV but this is not included in the lineup.

During my life, I have had the pleasure of attending 100′s of concerts of all genres of music. Recently, I attended a DAVID COOK CONCERT. I feel that I can make comments that are “spot on” being that I have a lot of experience as a member of the audience!

David Cook WOW..WOW.. WOW!!! David and his band are awesome!! His voice is magnificent in a live concert, his band is very tight musically. He is charming, sexy, funny, adorable, and is so gracious. He has a fan base that will do all they can to push his career right to the top! His fans are much the same as those that Bon Jovi has or Michael Jackson once had. Fans that every musician wishes they could capture…all ages! He can sing the phone book as Simon once said. And it all sounds great!

The entire crowd was on their feet at his concert singing, dancing and doing the wave to his music. As an artist when this finally happens you really know that people are into you and your music. This is happening to David when he is just starting!! So, I think all of you should get a ticket to a show and then come back and comment!!

As for Cook, I still find him grossly overrated as a singer, writer, and performer. Everything about him is so average (especially his new song),

I wonder if you are basing your opinion of him as a songwriter on the 3 songs he has released so far, because he didn’t write any of them. The first one was the coronation song, which he was required to sing when he won the show (and he made it a platinum seller and AC hit, not bad for a corny song).

The 2 singles off his cd are the only two songs he didn’t write or co-write. Many fans don’t feel those are the 2 best songs on the cd. Fans praise his songwriting based on the songs on his cd which he did write, and also on songs he put out or wrote pre-Idol, like on his Analog Heart cd, and another cd that was never released because Idol came along before it could be.

I think he’s a gifted (and prolific) songwriter and so I value all opinions but was just curious if you’ve listened to his own songs that he wrote. There’s also 3 bonus songs, Kiss on the Neck (he and Neal wrote), Breathe Tonight, and My Last Request, which are among the fans’ favorites.

Some of us wish the label was putting out the songs he wrote as singles, but they have their own game plan, and at least the next single will be one that David wrote or co-wrote. I fear that people are forming their impressions of him based on lesser songs off the cd, but I’m not really worried as I know that it all comes out in the wash and eventually people will discover the other songs and his versatility. (But I do love all the songs on his cd, including the singles.)

Don’t get me wrong, I respect your opinion and wouldn’t attempt to change it, I was just curious if you have listened to other songs by him besides the 3 singles. Peace. :)

My opinion is based on many things.. none of them being the three singles he released. Being a big fan of Idol, I watched his every move during Season 7 and could see that he really knew what he was doing and understood the need for progression from week to week. No matter what they told him “he got it” and came back stronger.

My favorites of David’s are “Porcelain” from Analog Heart; “Therapy” from Blindsided (Axium); “Permanent”, “A Daily Anthem”.and “Kiss On The Neck” from David Cook. I have many others I like from Analog Heart too. I love his new CD and realize that RCA has to get paid back for all their support before he can actually bust into his own venture. I’m fortunate enough to have his entire body of work to listen to so I don’t have to just stick with the new stuff!

Plus, he does cover songs so great that I always enjoy seeing those pop on on DCO or You Tube. I don’t understand when people on these threads say he is so average…they just aren’t Cook fans then for whatever reason. David is anything but average and people in the music industry that he comes in contact with rave about his talent.

    HI CookVoter :)

It’s okay with me if someone thinks he’s average, to each their own. I was just curious if they had heard the songs he wrote, hoping nobody will judge his songwriting skills based on 3 singles which he didn’t write. (And we all know that RCA picks the first few singles, or such is my belief.) I agree CookVoter that RCA is right to call the shots at first since it is their money on the line, and I don’t think David minds waiting for the chance to put some of his own songs (that he wrote I mean) front and center.

Actually we mustn’t forget Barbasol, which he didn’t write but he made small changes, which he loves to perform though, and which is also a new single in the rock genre. It has been shortened for the radio, I’d like to hear the shorter version but haven’t found a link yet.

  • Jolene

oceana, the radio edit of BBS is available on David’s MySpace. They shortened the guitar solo considerably.

  • oceana

Thanks Jolene. I think I’ll like the short version.

i can’t believe how much I hated Ace on the show and how much I love him now. Also David, I couldn’t stand him early on in the season but love him now.
