flynnsgirl, were you there last night? I’d be curious to know if Diana has something similar (can’t imagine her doing the scene completely nude, even if she is in the back).

So…they’re totally naked as in…his peen is showing? Wow…that’s awkward. What’s the purpose of them all being naked as it relates to the storyline?

The show was created in the wake of the Vietnam war and all the rebellion and strife. It’s part of the tribe’s “Be-In” and takes place after Claude sings about whether or not he should go to Vietnam or burn his draft card. It’s dimly lit and very brief. The entire cast walks onto the stage behind Claude and they chant something along the lines of “Beads Freedom Happiness Peace” before the curtain comes down and the scene ends. It’s not just Ace and Diana, we’re talking 20-25 cast members all on stage. It’s gutsy but gets more attention than warranted. Considering Diana and Ace are also on stage participating in songs like “Sodomy” and “Hashish,” a brief non-sexual nude scene is tame in comparison.

As far as reviews, the knock on Ace is that he played Berger as too much of an arrogant douchebag and made it tough for some to see why Claude and Sheila love him.

The knock on Diana so far seems to be either she’s not blonde like the previous actress (which makes no sense) or some of her acting choices were different than the previous actress. One person flat out hated her acting from top to bottom. Other people like her acting choices and think she’s a perfect “girl next door” type, and believe Ace will find the right balance with Berger.

What is interesting is Hair has a subset of fans who are cray cray just like American Idol fans. They are super loyal to the original cast and their reviews of last night were pretty eyeroll inducing, given the ax they seem to be grinding.

If Ace’s trousers go any lower in the picture above he would have shown everything.

How they look isn’t the point or purpose of the scene. It’s a short 15 second scene before the curtain falls on act 1, features the entire cast and isn’t lit or staged in a way that is sexual or gratuitous. Having that out of the way, Diana D is a young and thin female. She probably has less reason to be self conscious than most.

And I don’t think Idol will ever have a squeaky clean image after Adam Lambert

I’m not surprised Diana did the scene. I don’t know much about Ace but I’ve followed Diana long enough to know she’s a team player and wouldn’t refuse to do what the role called for, and what the rest of the cast was doing.
