Mavid says: Give back to Luke Menard! How can you do that? Paypal! Luke recently posted an email address where you can send donations to help defray the costs of his cancer treatments. Check out this blog post HERE.   Luke has been battling Hodgkinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s lymphoma since May.

Luke posted a blog update today.   He says the support has been “overwhelming” ever since David Cook and Michael Johns urged Idol fans to “Give Back to Luke Menard” in their nightly “Mavid Dance” during the Sunrise FL concert:

We arrived safely last night back to L.A. and this is the first time Lara and I have been back here since being released from the hospital back in May. Â  I have survived round 7 of chemo and am feeling much better after the past few days. Â  The rounds are getting a little tougher each time but I am up for the fight and I only have 5 left. Â  The Lord is keeping me strong for sure.

I can’t believe the outpour of support I have received from all the Idol fans, friends and family since the “Mavid” dance on the Idol tour. Â  19 entertainment has even joined forces with Michael and David to help support us and it leaves me very humbled. Â  American Idol truly is about giving back and I am experiencing it right now. Â   I just want to say….I saw Michael Johns do a dance at 3am while we were on Idol in our hotel room and it was much funnier than the one I saw on the tour. Â   Sorry Michael for sharing that. Â  You know what I’m talking about.

Just want to let you all know how much your kind words really do encourage me through chemo and through my sick days.   I read every single comment that is posted on here and sometimes it leaves me in tears.   I hope to do a big concert for all of you someday and share the music that you have all inspired me to write.  Thanks for being in my corner.

Get well soon, Luke!

I’m a firm believer that all things, good and challenging, happen for a reason. Luke’s exposure on AI has paid off in creating lasting friendships and a far reaching support group. I’m hoping that all of us who appreciated Luke during the preliminary weeks of AI take the time to offer a pray and/or a donation. (I called him my Lukesicle. God, that seems so trite right about now). Cancer’s a bitch and chemo is it’s ugly stepsister. I’m relieved to hear he is more than half way through his treatment.

Thank you for posting this MJ – I’m on it.

I pray that everything works out for him and his wife. My dad has cancer also and it is really hard at times. Fortunetly though, my dad has a large retirement to draw from so we don’t have to worry about the expense part.

    (((LUKE)))

I hate that he has to go through this, but I love that his friends are taking care of him.
