Kelly Clarkson was her usual chatty and adorable self when she visted the ladies of The View today. She discusses, new Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres, her smackdown of Kanye West’s behavior on the VMA’s and how she loves being on the road.

Later in the show, she performs a pitch-perfect rendition of her latest single, “Already Gone”.

Kelly is just plain awesome in so many different ways. And, funny how the View is almost tolerable without that Hasselback woman.

Love Kelly! Whoopie should really contain herself; her welcome of Kelly was really much!

  • smartcookie

Love her hair, hate the dress, and wish they would stop asking about Ellen/Paula. What are they going to say? “I hate Ellen and I think it is a huuuuuuge mistake to put her no-talent ass in Paula’s slot…” Yeah, well, kiss any future promo on “Ellen” goodbye.

Oh, and Ana Ortiz is gorgeous. I want to come back in another life and look like her. And swim with dolphins like she did recently.

  • abbysee

And, funny how the View is almost tolerable without that Hasselback woman.

Yep, almost, lol. She definitely makes it unwatcheable for me.

    Kelly is amazing.

  • smartcookie

Whoopie should really contain herself; her welcome of Kelly was really much!

That was Sheri, not Whoopi. Totally different head.

  • soccerboi

Love Love Love Kelly. I really think she is just beautiful inside and out. AND that voice….uh-ma-zing. I do wish she would get a stylist though. I swear that dress was worn by Krystal Carrington on Dynasty in the 80′s.

  • Tess

5 stars for Kelly on this one. Her interview was great, she didn’t let the question about photo shopping on the Self cover affect her, she looked terrific (oh Kelly please keep it up…I luvs it when you look like you care about looking good) and the singing was totally awesome.

  • suebrody

I ADORE KELLY. She is so cute!

Already Gone is my favorite song on the album–before it was released or was the goodbye song (for SYTYCD?)–and she sounds awesome here, I agree.

Richard Rushfield thinks I should get the Kelly app for iPhone. Heh.

  • Nina1

Kelly is just plain awesome in so many different ways.

So, so agree. Kelly just is who she is and is mightily refreshing.

  • amiroamor

Kelly, you’re a millionaire, do something about your dress (or your stylist)

  • Janus

I love Kelly. That is all.

  • colette

I’m a come-lately fan of Kelly, but she really is terrifically talented, and though not all her material thrills me (the over-the-top diva thing is not my thing), but the more soulful, nuanced stuff is wonderful.

I adore her rendition of Dylan’s “To Make you Fell My Love”, which Kris sang on AI:

The dress? way too matronly for such a vivacious young gal, but I kinda love that she isn’t a glam queen and makes some fashion boo-boos — like the rest of us!~

  • glamatheart

I love Already Gone and Kelly. I got chills listening to that.

  • leome

I love all the different ways Kelly performs that song. Always awesome!!
And she talks so fast, it’s funny.

I don’t get that dress (or whatever she’s dressing) at all. She’s 27 and dresses like she’s 40. I don’t think it does her any good. But it’s her taste, so, whatever.

I was being sarcastic; maybe because we had mostly a back view of Whoopi … at least Joy smiled

  • bridgette12

Mercy me, did she forget that she was on a morning talkshow, and not doing a show in Las Vegas. I know she can afford a stylist. Kelly is so talented, but she is such a bad dresser.

  • terps

You can tell Sherri is a real Kelly fan, and it’s hard to believe after all these seasons of Idol Kelly is still the best. Probably the best voice to come from Idol

  • Janus

…and in other news, Whoopie will be starring in the upcoming film Weekend at Bernie’s III…

  • Tess

I’m just laughing…Kelly can’t win about her clothes. Her video from her performance the other night was absolutely revolting as to her outfit…it made her look really really heavy and didn’t flatter anything. Now she styles her hair, puts on basic black with a little glitter, and she is called old and matronly. When she puts on over sized tops she looks like she is trying to hide something and she is so short they over-power her, and when she tucks somethin in her behind looks like it is 2 sizes too big for her body.

I’m not sure even a stylist can figure this out. Kelly just has a matronly body at 27…short legs, tummy, big butt, boobs, round shoulders. What is the poor girl to do?

  • sma11ie

Go original Idol!! Yes, she needs a better stylist =P… but still love her :) .

  • metsman796

i swear i said the exact same thing bout the vmas!!! pink woulda kicked kanyes ass

  • casey718

Jordin and JHud are not petite lil thangs, but they both always look put together to me, so i don’t know if you can blame Kelly’s body. But that’s what I love about her..she just doesn’t care about style! And apparently America doesn’t care either, since she’s still topping the charts after all of these years.

  • 1wildegirl

    Dear Kelly,

I looooove you. Really, I do. But if you insist on dressing like my mother, you’re going to start giving me a Mackenzie Phillips complex.

    Always,
    1wildegirl

PS. On a brighter note, I love the hair! The inteview was adorable, then again…you always are.

  • dhunken

I think Kelly sang amazingly. She was great in the interview. As far as her style and her weight…I like her for her voice and the songs she sings. If she is happy with the way she looks that is all that matters.

  • 1wildegirl

Oh, I agree. I love her no matter what size she is or isn’t. I just don’t want to think that she’s hot while she’s wearing something out of my mother’s closet. But you know, that’s just me. ;)

  • bmms

What the heck is wrong with Whoopi? She needs to tone it down… she talks waaaaaaay too much… Oy vay! She had the same blah attitude during Taylor Swift’s appearance on the show.

I’m not a Kelly fan and I did not watch AI until Season 4, but everytime I’ve seen her on a talk show or during an interview with a magazine etc., she is so upbeat and bubbly. She is sincere and down to earth as well. Ofcourse, through the years I’ve heard her sing, and without question, what a tremendous voice!

As for her attire, it seemed a bit too ‘old’ for her. The dress is for someone that is more into their 40′s or 50′s, IMO. I liked her shoes though. ;-)

  • Janus

One more thing, Kelly and David Cook need to do a duet. How awesome would that be?!

  • bmms

Probably the best voice to come from Idol.

    Exactly… probably!!!
*Hmmm, I recall someone by the name of Carrie… does that name ring a bell?*

  • OvenMitt

Someone upthread made a remark about Kelly having a “matronly body”. To me, her body is curvaceous and utterly feminine. True, she’s a pear-shape, but you can still look beautiful regardless of age, clothing size or shape with the right cuts of clothes. As a freelance wardrobe stylist, I have enncountered MANY women with this body type. I actually think it’s one of the more womanly shapes, and surprisingly easy to dress. Perhaps Kelly could have gone with a skirt that didn’t cling so closely to her bottom half, but beyond that, the embellished top is right on. It draws attention upward (maybe a little too much on the spangles, but they definitely served their purpose) and brings light to her face. I’m sure any pro stylist worth their salt would tell you the same, but I get the sense that Kelly doesn’t care much either way. As she said in the interview, it’s supposed to be fun!

  • IdolThoughts

I agree that the Golden Girls dress is a no. But, lets move on. The performance was flawless. Kelly is an amazing talent. I loved Sherri’s fandom at the end. Very cute.

  • 1wildegirl

You know who I would love a duet from? Kelly and Carrie…some “Does He Love You” style belting would be pretty much amazing. My inner fangirl would probably implode.

  • KLI

Way to go Kelly! Very nice interview and performance. What a voice! She is so bubbly and enthusiastic. It takes me back to that first audition where they tell her yes, and she says “Score!!”

Interesting that when she was criticizing Kanye she said it’s all about entertainment; it’s supposed to be fun; and “it’s not that deep.”

And where else have we heard that sentiment before??

  • poporange

funny how the View is almost tolerable without that Hasselback woman.

Yeah I know what you mean guitily I sort of enjoyed the drama durring the presidential race…

Kelly may have some misfires clotheswise at least she doen’t dress up like a barbie doll or has enhancements done….

  • Grammie Kari

One more thing, Kelly and David Cook need to do a duet. How awesome would that be?!

Kelly is who she is; we accept her. We love her! But if I were her Mom, I would ask her to find a dress designer that would work around her tummy area. Sit-ups might help. But the rest of her dress is fine.

This young lady is so talented and down-to-earth! Yes, I’d love to hear a duet with David Cook. I think it would be hit!

Sherri was so cute; Whoopi, not so much.

  • http://www.wholisticbirthways.net austinmidwife

I’m a come lately Kelly fan myself, and I so love her now. The dress was hideous though. Oh well, her voice, her honesty and enthusiastic personality more than make up for her wardrobe fail.

  • Sunshinegirl

Love her, but it is hard to get past her constant styling flaws. Her hideous taste in clothes is distracting and takes away from her performances some. I just don’t understand how she could be so clueless about what looks good. Seriously.

  • kfolkerts

The live version of this song seems much better than what’s on the CD…did she change it because of the back track controversy??

  • Sunshinegirl

Perhaps Kelly should go on some celebrity edition of What Not To Wear.

  • thesheriff

I soooo want to believe that Kelly’s schtick is dressing to make the worst dress list. Like MJ’s glove and sunglasses, or lady gaga’s costumes…etc…Kanye’s asinine-ism. Things like that.

Doesn’t it almost have to be??? Kelly?? ANSWER ME!!

  • http://www.dallascowboys.com GeminiDolly

Kelly was never a pretty girl, but she looked like she took care of herself. She has really let herself go now, but at least those vocals will never not be beautiful.

  • smartcookie

I think Adele is shorter, chunkier and boobier than Kelly, but she manages to find flattering, fashionable clothes. Kelly’s friends need to send her to What Not to Wear where they can show her the beauty of a white blouse, black pants or leggings, pointy boots and a black jacket with only the second button buttoned. Seriously. I think every booby, chunky woman out there has discovered the second button trick from WNTW.

  • PattyH

Gosh, I just love Kelly! She is so amazing!
What was wrong with Whoppie? Her non enthusiasm was pretty blatant.

  • rayni

I can’t do the View because of Whoopi – she irks me to no end. And I don’t appreciate the ol’ grouch dissing our Kelly. Lord, Kelly can sang. And she and Cook together? Divine!

  • maria4hitz

Kelly is so amazing, that performance is up there with the Nova one. She’s so down to earth, funny, adorable and geniune. The best female voice to come out of Idol.

  • oceana

I think Kelly’s always been pretty, but I agree with what everyone said, she is a style disaster, she should let a stylist help her (a good one). She is much more attractive than she presents herself. But I love her anyway, and would die to be in the same room and listen to her sing any song at all.

  • chjohnson34

Geez Whoopi needs a happy pill! That was ridiculous- she sat there with such a cold expression on her face and was shooting Joy looks when Sherri busted out MLWSWY w/KC. Anyways, fabulous performance but didn’t care for the outfit. Hair looked great though!

  • dsp

    Her voice sounded awesome.

Kelly was never a pretty girl, but she looked like she took care of herself.
I actually feel Kelly looked very pretty hair and face wise

  • Sherena

Oh my god, this girl. I never watched any of her interviews before this year, and now that I have I just love her. I’d want to have her as my best friend if I knew her. It’s also cool how she’s so grounded despite 8 years of fame (wtf why did I originally write “freedom”?) and being a multi multi millionaire.

    Gorgeous rendition of the song.

  • iluvai

    She is beautiful. Love her!!!

  • mandabutter

Ok –most important ===> HER VOICE. Incredible!!! She is super talented, love her stuff. Been a fan since I watched her on Idol, I only kept watching because of her. Back then I couldn’t care less about the judges panel or frosty tip hosts. I wanted to hear this little girl from Texas saaaang!

For the View, I loved her interview. Sherri’s questions were too wordy. Get to the point. And someone wake up Whoopi! Awesome performance, very cute moment when she sang with Sherri and Ana. I would love to be this girl’s best friend just for a day.
I like her style, I think she has a nice balance for her busy lifestyle. She has promotional/in the spotlight type of looks and if she’s shopping or landing after a flight, why would we expect her to look like Heidi Klum or Posh Spice all the time. I like that she’s a normal girl!!!

She IS BEAUTIFUL!! I’m not commenting on how bad or good she looked or her weight -it’s stupid. There are more important things to worry about and I personally would hate for people to splash photos of me everywhere for people to snark about. “Oh lets give her the title of most influential or best role model & then write about how fat her face looks….”

  • useless

Kelly Clarkson deserves to be THE most successful idol. (ya, ya, I know the country queen is up there in sales, too) She has a great voice, a bubbly personality, writes songs and is down- to- earth enough to know that pop singers “aren’t curing cancer”. She’s going to be around for quite some time. Good on her!

  • JudyOhio

Whoopi bordered on rude in my book. It’s not like Kelly is political or something or holds views Whoopi wouldn’t agree with. There was just no reason at all to treat a guest so cool (cold). Kelly has one heck of a voice. I love about anything she sings to be honest. Good interview also.

  • TwigLA

I love Kelly and she’s who got me hooked on AI in the first place. She’s so genuine – she’s real – she’s not ‘pretty’ … she’s ‘beautiful’!

I love that she has no filter and has a real joie de vivre. It helps that she’s such a dynamic singer with a great voice.

I don’t see what Whoopie did wrong other than sitting on the sidelines while the fan girls did their stuff. It wasn’t her segment. I found the interview quite enjoyable.
