I, too, can see no sport in hunting. I live in an area thick with deer, and hunting season brings out many gun toting idiots. I acknowledge that some hunt to put meat on their families' tables, but I see the carcasses that are sometimes left behind when the hunter has gone over his limit, but just can't resist killing something. They leave the carcass rather than risk getting caught with more than they are legally entitled to shoot. I have a horse farm, and worry about my horses, even though they are on my own property. I know people who have lost horses and livestock due to those who think "if it moves, shoot it". Our fences are sometimes cut so that hunters can track their prey on their 4 wheelers, on private property that is prominently marked as such.

Sorry to rant, but it's a touchy subject for me.

To be clear' ¦ I have no problem with people who eat meat. Or hunters who eat their catch. I do have a problem with hunting for sport, because it serves no useful purpose. And yes, there are people who hunt (and I'm not talking specifically about deer) just to kill. I've known some of them.

She hunts for sport but she also eats what she kills -- at least that's what she's said in the past. She once talked about the fact that the fee for a hunting license + bagging a deer = much less $$ spent on meat for her family than buying all that stuff from the grocery store. She never said that her family was starving or anything, but clearly they made that economic calculus and they were obviously eating what they killed so I can't say I'd get too judgery about the whole thing. Well anyway, in my mind, that makes a difference.

I think there are laws in many states that sort of 'guarantee' the most humane way to kill livestock)

If laws like that exist, they aren't always followed. I don't want to get into it here, but the stuff that goes on in slaughterhouses can be pretty grim.

So, where does this put Kristy on the list of the 25 most successful Idols? Surely she can jump up to Justin and Kim's level soon.

Didn't watch the clip. I'm a vegetarian, and I've been held at gun point myself. Sorry, can't see guns and killing as something to have fun with. But, this is America, everyone gets to make that decision for themselves.

It's the idea of killing a living thing for sports that does not go well with me.As far as I know, livestock are killed instantaneously in slaughterhouses unlike these "game" animals who have to run for their lives as they are hunted down(I think there are laws in many states that sort of "guarantee" the most humane way to kill livestock)..and if they're not lucky enough, they may get a non-fatal shot and just...idk bleed to death ... not a very pretty picture.

And ahh...this clip reminded me of America's love for guns...remembered Bowling Columbine...

To not eat meat is a choice but let's remember that on the food chain we ARE carnivors (shape of our teeth proves it)

..think it would be more precise to say that we are omnivors (can it everything)

Let's put it more precisely, our bodies need certain amino acids, among other nutrients and if we don't get them, bad things happen, death, diseases, weaknesesses, whatever. We do not need meat and yes by our teeth and digestion, we are omnivores. So we don't need to consume any meat at any given time ever, shape of our teeth aside because we also have many more grain/veggie ones. As long as we maintain the nutrient levels regarding complete amino acids, among many others we need, we'll fine and don't need to kill and eat Bambi, Babe or Roo or whomever, either. Sorry, but the whole 'we're carnivores,' argument does nothing for me, because we're not. Cats are much more so "obligate carnivores," than we, or dogs for that matter, will ever be. So maybe Kristy is actually speaking to the TV watching, armed cat, populace? In which case I'm all for her helpful hints on killing deer! And meow meow, pass me another round, meow meow, while I make this shot!

thanks for posting this MJ!
i'm a huge KLC fan!
i'm so glad to hear that she is doing something that will get her more exposure.
I don't really know much about hunting, but the fact that other people (including my cousin) do it and enjoy it. Plus, they eat the animal afterwards, so I'm glad it's going to some use.

To be clear... I have no problem with people who eat meat. Or hunters who eat their catch. I do have a problem with hunting for sport, because it serves no useful purpose. And yes, there are people who hunt (and I'm not talking specifically about deer) just to kill. I've known some of them.

Also, I remember reading that there are more car/deer collisions during hunting season because the deer are driven out of their natural habitats. I think it was an insurance study.

To not eat meat is a choice but let's remember that on the food chain we ARE carnivors (shape of our teeth proves it)

..think it would be more precise to say that we are omnivors (can it everything)
