Fast overnight ratings from Marc Berman:

-Ratings Breakdown:
With American Idol on board there is no stopping Fox, which continues to own Tuesday. CBS was on the map despite airing repeats of NCIS and The Mentalist. And NBC continues to benefit from improved The Biggest Loser.

The first night in Hollywood on American Idol opened the evening with a hefty 26.28 million viewers and a 9.9 rating/25 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Tied for second in the hour was a repeat of CBSà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ aforementioned NCIS (Viewers: #2, 14.36 million; A18-49: #3, 2.9/ 7) and the first half of NBCà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s The Biggest Loser (Viewers: #3, 8.92 million; A18-49: #2, 3.2/ 8). Also airing in the time period was ABC dud Homeland Security USA (Viewers: #4, 5.68 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 4) and 90210 on the CW (Viewers: #5, 2.44 million; A18-49: #5, 1.3/ 3). Comparably, this was 90210′s best performance in one month and best ever opposite American Idol in total viewers (2.4 million), adults 18-34 (1.8/5), women 18-34 (2.6/7) and adults 18-49 (1.3/3).

Last year, the 2-hour Hollywood Week episode netted 30M viewers, and a 12.3/29 rating share in the desirable demo. However, the numbers are up a little bit from last Tuesday’s 25 million, 9.6/24 ratings share.

But mj I would just like to say last years Hollywood week had Superbowl promo, and this year did not

But I would like to say that there has been definitely less good singing per episode than ever before.

Just last night, there were so many comments and rejections and no explanation of what exact songs were so wrong for the contestants. So many judge’s comments, so much wondering, what were they talking about?

Obviously, they are cutting corners on performance time to save music licensing costs. And coming out with a program that has no more traction because it’s all going to be static among the judges and backstage “Real World” drama between the amateur contestants and the ringers.

Less singing, less music, less ratings.

Last night was the first time in 7 years I didn’t watch the Hollywood Audition round, or even one minute of Idol. It’s become like every other show I can take or leave…… the spark, the motivation to choose to put that dial on Fox on Tuesday and Wednesday night is missing… the talent I’ve seen up till last week left me feeling “meh”, and I can’t really explain why….. who knows if the spark and enthusiasm for this Season will be lit….

This is a comment about the second night of Hollywood round – 1/2 an hour of utter carp, then finally a tiny bit of group singing — what a waste of time! NO wondering viewing is down I agree whole-heartedly with ggdoorsfan –
