The Kelly Clarkson Grammy performance, tributes to Carole King and the late Patti Page will include performances of “Natural Woman” and “Tennessee Waltz”, respectively. Via The Tennessean:

One Friday rehearsal surprise was recent Nashville transplant Clarkson’s plaintive, splendid version of one of Tennessee’s state songs, “Tennessee Waltz,” as popularized by the late Patti Page. Clarkson followed that with a Janis Joplin-esque take on Carole King’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

Pop star, Taylor Swift, is expected to open the Grammys, which will also feature a tribute to the late Levon Helmm that will feature Zac Brown and Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard.

The Grammys will air on CBS Sunday night beginning at 8 pm.

“You can add another step in there.. before Kelly did Idol, when she was out in LA she was working with Gerry Goffin who was married to Carole King and co-wrote Natural Woman.”

Yes, I actually knew that too…why I didn’t include it is beyond me.  But to really twist my brain – I was thinking how that 6 degrees of separtation is based on the friend of friend chain thing.  Which brings us to Carole and James’ duet of “you’ve got a friend”.

    LOL

I thought Adele was going to be singing her James Bond movie song, Skyfall.  But a quick look online indicates that she’ll do that at the Oscars, not Grammys.

LAPD is beefing up security for the Grammies due to the manhunt for the ex-cop killer. He named Kelly as one of the women he admires in his manifesto. They’re not saying it’s because of Kelly though. It could be because there will be  a large concentration of officers (his target) there to begin with.
