No idea how official track lists are published/leaked/whatever, but I’d really like to see an official final version rather than yet another one based on conjecture, which we’ve had enough of over the last few months. At least Adam has filled in some holes – or should I say he’s created new ones… of the rabbit nature, anyway. What happened to our original estimate of 28ish recorded songs? We know they won’t all make the cut (DAMMMIT!), but how is that long list shaping up?

I bet Strut is at least one of them. The Rolling Stone pictures where he was recording Strut had him wearing the same t-shirt he was wearing in the interviews with RedOne in the studio. So I bet that’s at least one. We don’t know who produced some of the earlier songs.

ETA: I think “Strut” could be a Greg Wells song, he worked with him before the tour too.

Given that we haven’t heard a “single” note yet, a first single called “Entertainment” makes perfect sense, given the out of left fieldish nature of the FYE album title, which hopefully, it will help explain. I like this idea of using as a first single a song that’s not so closely identified with GaGa/Pink that establishes Adam as an independent artist rather than as a male version of them. Second single – all bets are off – go for it!

Adam told a reporter friend of mine last night at the premiere that they had cut it down to 16 songs. He wasn’t sure if they would cut further or if the extra songs would be bonus tracks (maybe on the Deluxe CD).

Studio57, I understand the concern. But don’t all artists cut rough demos of their own songs? How else to provide the song to producers and session musicians to actually build the track? I just don’t see how the cover argument can hold water here.

And demos are what artists use to choose their songs. That’s what all those tweets from Aimee et al were about. They sent demos of songs they hoped would be chosen.

Soaked was never released anywhere and never performed by Matt Bellamy — he sang the lyrics for the master demo — and listening to it — it is in a Kay for Adam not Matt.

before I read I just wanna LOL at all the angst yesterday about him getting Pink’s scraps and it turns out that’s not even his single… I love it..

If Soaked was a released song they sure didn’t spend much on it. It is totally “accompanied” with an electronic board. I bet after 3 listens someone could play the whole backing tract. I’m not a music genius and I can hear it.

But the song does lend itself to a full 30 piece Orchestra and some good over tracks and, of course, Adam’s voice.

Regardless if the Muse song is or is not a cover….Adam will make the song his own and it will be different from the Demo version. Adam has done this over and over again. ITA– and what I love about this whole endeavor is that I get the feeling Adam has truly gone for artistic rather than commercial. I left the office at 5:00 and people were freaking out about the cover and obsessing over the registration date of the song. Now that we know the first single ties to the title, the comments are now whether the Bellamy song should have been the first single and whether inclusion of the song should be considered a cover even though it was not previously released.

That means that someone spent a hell of lot of time searching for that song in an effort to prove that it had been previously released and all that could be found was a short instrumental and a demo for a song that isn’t the first single.

Let me borrow the title of an Aerosmith cd: GET A GRIP!

Well… here’s the thing. Who cares if ANY song is a cover if it’s good? Songs, to me, are like poetry. The person reading and interpreting supplants their own, unique fingerprint. Some covers are poor renditions, but, for instance, in the case of “Mad World,” I think Adam was superior to the original and the first cover. I think I’m not the only one, since it’s been used to promo a new show and on GH. His version of “Satisfaction,” on the other hand, while a really great effort, was certainly good, particularly for AI standards, but not at the same level as the original.

I thought the demo was called Rain and people connected to “soaked”… God, I’m behind.. :lol

And I must say I love Twittery Adam!

Just read the lyrics to Soaked on Planet Fierce (thanks guys!) and have to say that they are so perfectly Adam. Read them and I think you’ll see what I mean.

For what it’s worth, the first people I saw digging out that demo were Adam fans who were dying to hear what it sounded like, not people interesting in proving it was a cover.

I can confirm much squeeing and flailing ongoing among the fans. This is an unreleased Muse song. That’s big.

The YT is a rip from the demo — which was supposed to be just a 26 sec sample but was easy to fool to get the whole song. Matt Bellamy sang it because he wrote it — like most demos are done.

Except when they hire an unknown singer like Adam Lambert to sing the demos — like the Take One album is full of.

Wow. I think that Soaked is excellent. A couple of parts seem out of place (you’ll know) but I think that the production could even that out and the rest is just beautiful. It gains momentum, opens and deepens and, when it does, Adam will just soar. Bet he had a lot of fun doing this one.

That means that someone spent a hell of lot of time searching for that song in an effort to prove that it had been previously released and all that could be found was a short instrumental and a demo for a song that isn’t the first single.

Or it was just a really eager Adam fan looking for something- anything- to tide them over. Some folks just love a good challenge.

“Soaked” is a completely different song from Muse’s “Rain”. The connection was just a fan’s imagination.

just listened to soaked and it’s very muse-ish. beautiful. matt has a deeper timbre than adam does so all muse songs are very distinct, so it’ll be exciting to see how adam sounds on it.

OK, I’ll bite…. why are we obsessing over one of the many tracks on the album instead of the known single, FYE?? I’d rather someone found a sample or leak of that!

And because I’m feeling smart today (16 songs in that list, anyone?? FYE, anyone??), I’d like to note that I predicted the single would be a Claude Kelly/Dr. Luke track back when Adam tweeted that Dr. Luke was going to spin it into GOLD!

Twinkle- ontd_ai is the one that found it, it was probably a Kris Allen fan, but I edited my post to include both. I would think most muse fans know the difference between a cover and unreleased track. Allen fans still don’t know the difference.

So now I’m really wondering what the fourth song Lyndsey heard was. I thought it was the single but she reviewed “For Your Entertainment” and it didn’t sound like she knew about the Muse song so maybe the Lady Gaga song? Wow. I think that Soaked is excellent. A couple of parts seem out of place (you’ll know) but I think that the production could even that out and the rest is just beautiful. It gains momentum, opens and deepens and, when it does, Adam will just soar. Bet he had a lot of fun doing this one.

Gosh, the lyrics to Soaked are gorgeous.

I can see why it didn’t make the album, and I don’t think it has anything to do with the quality of the song. It was to do more with the sequence of the album.

What I like about The Resistance is what I always loved about quality rock music. There’s a theme, a sound sequence across the album, a theme that captures a snapshot of the music in time. You achieve that by keeping the same producer through out the record. A great example is Pink Floyd, Queen, Nine Inch Nails and few others that were successful at it, and, keeping it all within the parameters of rock. It proves you can make an album with the same sound but with variations within the album. Thats art! I believe AFI has achieved this as well.

All I know from everything I have read that all the peeps involved with this album gave more than a 100% effort…and really seem to be pleased with what they did. If the album is drek it won’t be because the producers and writers and Adam and the session musicians didn’t give it their very best effort.

And I will be the first to say that if the album fails it will be because Adam just doesn’t fit into the current music landscape. I’m not going to blame RCA or the writers or 19 or the fact Adam got his push from AI.

Now THIS is something worthy of Adam’s voice.

The lyrics are poignant and lovely.

VERY excited.

Someone, I have no idea who, is playing the Wiki pranks on all the Adam Lambert pages. It has been going on for weeks.

The main Wiki page for Adam’s album has to constantly be corrected. Yesterday, some changed it to include 3 songs that were recorded by other artists — including “Battlefield”. That has been corrected but beware of false info on Wiki.

Now THIS is something worthy of Adam’s voice.

The lyrics are poignant and lovely.

I guess I need someone to explain to me why anyone cares whether “Soaked” or any other song on Adam’s album is a cover or not. I listen to lots of different types of music (pop, rock, jazz, classical, traditional pop), and I don’t see all this angst over covers in other music genres. For example, I love Diana Krall and many of her albums contain songs previously recorded by other artists. But she has her own distinctive style, and she brings her own interpretation to the songs she sings. So even though a standard like “The Look of Love” has been recorded by many artists, I like her version because it has its own unique sound. Same goes for Jamie Cullum. He recorded “I Could Have Danced All Night” (from the musical “My Fair Lady”, no less) and put a fun, funky spin on it that makes it sound different from every other version of that song I’ve ever heard.

So again, who cares if Adam (or Kris or Allison or anyone else) records a cover? If it’s a good song and they put their own unique stamp on it, I don’t see a problem. It’s not karaoke if it’s their interpretation. And I would rather an artist re-record a great song than sing an original song that is a piece of crap.

Gotta go. I’m gonna listen to Soaked and TfM on my home. Back later. So very happy. Great day to be an Adam fan.

A master is how a song is supposed to sound wherein a demo is likely to be changed.

Janus, AFI is a little punk band that has produced many great critically acclaimed records. It isn’t your typical 70′s punk, it has a Ramones influenced vibe with modern bits of melodic anthems. I recommend it. A good song to start out is “But Home is Nowhere” off the Sing the Sorrow album – don’t miss the hidden track “This Time Imperfect” Beautiful.

ITA — I was just trying to make sure people knew that it was going on.

Also, I have just chatted with a couple of very committed Muse fans — they follow everything Muse — and they didn’t even know this song existed, and confirm it was never recorded or performed by Muse. The demo is the first time they have heard it.

I also have what I believe is a complete collection of every released Muse track and that is not on anything I have — including the physical imports as a hidden or bonus track. I believe it is a new song.

Doesn’t matter one way or another to me, I think it is a perfect song for Adam and can’t wait to here the recording.

Proving my point why Wiki isn’t a real research tool. Though my engineer/math geek best friendboy disagrees about math stuff, says that math people can’t be sussed to make up bad entries for it. Which I said he might not know, it could be like fanbases, of which AI knows too much. There could be rival gangs of functions accusing each other of screwing with Wiki just to mess with them.

I have no idea where this quote came from, but that was an initial critique that followed Muse around when they first started, so I am not surprised some people see that still. However, Muse went more bombastic and Radiohead decided electronica was FTW, so it went there. I don’t really see current Muse having that quality to it, except for Matt’s voice… sometimes.

Evolution of the demo/master: ohnotheydidnt PROPER (not ai, but the interactive gossip site with over 50,000 members) had some Adam Lambert discussion where “Soaked” was mentioned. A Muse fan responded saying how she heard that song and thought it was amazing, which prompted some Adam fans from ontd_ai to seek out the demo/master. That’s how it was done, not nefariously or anything. I’m a huge Muse fan and to my knowledge this was never released, b-side or not. Muse stream a lot of random stuff on their website though, so it could’ve been previewed there at one point.

Still, I’m impressed since Matt Bellamy can be picky and prickly about this stuff. I heard it was the same with Pink. That’s what happens when you can SANG, dawg.

But yes, I am ready to shake my ass to “Entertainment” now and I like Claude Kelly’s enthusiasm over this (he seems cool). Fun times. Electro-pop, glam-rock, dance-rock in one album? Hell yeah.

Sorry but no it doesn’t. A writer who writes songs and then submits them for consideration by singers isn’t the “original” artist therefore any song of their’s that is recorded is not a cover. A cover by definition is a previously recorded song that has been placed on a commerically available CD which is then taken by another artist and performed either in concert or also for commerical use.

I do agree that covers have been around for as long as music has been around and they really aren’t anything worth worrying about or angsting over.

Don’t tease me like that – I might turn into a fangirl! But seriously, that would be kind of awesome. It’s a lovely song, it really is (and congrats to Bill Bellamy for sounding so fab on a demo). Add some major strings to that and it really has potential to be quite beautiful.

I agree . my favourite part of that demo/master is the bit where the strings first kick in and you get the real melody bit … I can imagine on a fully produced and polished version the orchestration will sound amazing.

.. and of course Muse’s latest album is heavily orchestrated with the use of stings and the whole caboodle to give it a classical feel at times

I have listened to Soaked several times now and see this as Adam’s Mad World. It just rips your soul out and I can’t wait to hear him sing it. I think what we’ve seen is the CD cover for the whole album but they usually do have separate single covers. Kris did. So yes, maybe a new Lambert cover will be popping up shortly. I better stock up on popcorn for Cover-gate Part Deux.

I have listened to Soaked several times now and see this as Adam’s Mad World. It just rips your soul out and I can’t wait to hear him sing it. This song could reel in a lot of people that wouldn’t go for the glam rock idea.

I had the same thought about this song being another Mad World. More chills and tears.

Soaked and TFM are looped and playing forever.

Chris Judd was the choreographer for the Debbie Does Dallas show in Reno. The one where blonde Adam is a football player. There are other pics of Chris with other members of the cast. I don’t think Chris is Adam’s type!

I HAVE, and he’s awesome, of course, but I think Adam will do amazingly great, too. I actually prefer Adam’s voice, which is why I’m a greater fan of Adam Lambert than I am of Muse. Muse is great, don’t get me wrong, but I actually think Adam has the potential to be much more diverse. My point is that if the general public hasn’t heard the song before, it will be considered Adam’s, and most people won’t go looking for a demo from which to draw comparisons. Sorry if I’m not making sense. I know what I’m thinking, but I’m having problems articulating tonight for some reason!

Someone posted once that the rankings for this are determined by some poor soul who checks radio spins and audience, sales, online streaming, hits on sites like AOL where the song is playing, etc. It must be quite the formula.

I would think TfM made the chart, not so much on Sales but because a legally posted video garnered almost 3/4 million hits.

Found it, but there is nothing listed for TfM. Oh well… maybe I am doing something wrong. Anyone else worked this before?

Hell yeah it is good! 50 spot with minimal (as in miniscule) amount of airplay. Now, what do we do for more aiplay? Call the radio station? Tweet them to death? Text them every single minute? Let’s do it! Who knows, maybe TFM will go up some more. Power ballads might be a thing of the past but this is Adam. Anything can happen. For all we know, the song could be a slow burn. LOL! Per Wiki, the Billboard Hot 100 Chart rankings are based on radio play and sales (both physical and digital) and include all genres. It looks like the one that is the most general since it includes both sales and airplay.

Per Wiki, the Pop category has subsets, I’m not sure if sales is included in these charts, wiki says just airplay:

Pop Songs Pop Songs is an airplay chart measures airplay audience impressions on Contemporary hit radio stations.

Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks measures airplay detections (spins) on Hot adult contemporary stations.

I posted in another thread, but Chris Judd worked on that show in REno that Adam did, “Debbie Does Dallas”. The one where he was dressed in the football player uniform and the blond hair?

He’s not gay as far as I know, but does know Adam from that show.

TFM probably only had a few spins. The ranking is based on sales and radio play and some streaming. The song hit 50 because of its ranking of 21 on the sales chart. It’s okay. I won’t go through a long history of how Idol songs do on the BB 100. In that past some have done very well. There was a time when every winner’s coronation song went to #1 routinely.

Hey, kids. I’m back! I listened to Muse on the way home. God, I love Matt Bellamy’s voice, and check out his falsetto! This is why he and Adam make such good compatriots–beautiful clear voices that can do so many things. It is clear that Adam is not going to put out a concept album, but I think he could. I don’t know how Matt would do with a dance electro synth beat, but I only know Muse from their past two albums. I am beyond, beyond, beyond excited about this track.

As far as the title track, I can’t wait to hear it. ON YOUR FEET, BITCHES. Hoo boy.

It’s so exciting about the song written by Muse. And I love the word “soaked.” No pun, no kidding, no hidden anything…. just love the word.

“SOAKED!” It’s such a rich and lushy word…. cool song title. Accompany that with the actual music, lyrics, author, and Adam’s vocal stylings and interpretations — and it’s squeeeeeeeeeeeee time.

On the debut single “For Your Entertainment” I haven’t seen much discussion on this song yet. As Adam’s first official song from his debut album, I’m most interested in this one right now.

We know it’s going to make us want to dance our arses off, (cuz Adam says so) and with writer and producer credits in the Dr. Luke / Claude Kelly department, I expect this to be one of the albums most “commercial” sounding songs. Good for Adam, as it should fit in well with today’s top Pop songs.

Hoping for a little something more interesting and “out there” I am really intrigued and hopeful about how Lyndsey describes how Adam opens the song.

“Adam opens this one up, Rocky Horror-meets-Robbie Williams-style, with the audacious declaration: “I’m here for your entertainment!” And he ain’t kidding.”

If all the stars align I can see this becoming an iconic Adamism… or something. I can’t decide if his pronouncement will be “I’m Here for Your Entertainment” all sexy-Rocky Horror Show vibe, or more fierce… as in… “I’M HERE for YOUR ENTERTAINMENT — BITCHES” Either way… I’m here for HIS entertainment. Can not wait!

This song is so haunting. I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Adam must be thrilled to sing a song by one of his favorite bands. This is a pretty big deal that they are allowing him to sing one of their songs. I’m so excited to hear the rest of the album! I’m crossing my fingers that FYE gets released this week.

I just downloaded the “Orianthi” free song on ITunes. Thanks…..sorry I can’t remember who posted the information. I like the song. I went to see the TII movie today and Orianthi can play some great guitar! I was thinking that she would be a great addition to the band Adam is putting together. I was disappointed we didn’t get Adam’s TFM music video but just his voice. But he sounded great and his name was up on the big screen so…it’s all good.

That’s not much of a boost for TfM. Unless it gets more radio play sales will be pretty craptastic until the movie release. Or his new single may give it a boost as well.

That’s not much of a boost for TfM. Unless it gets more radio play sales will be pretty craptastic until the movie release. Or his new single may give it a boost as well.

Yeah, must say I was sorely disappointed that the actual MV wasn’t shown – this was one of the Adam events I was most looking forward to. This would be like hearing all the hype about performing on the AMAs and having it turn out to not be aired or something (shuddering to think of that). So yeah – not happy about that (nor about that one press releasey type thing that literally said TFM MV to appear before TII – WTF).

Exactly! I asked the same question this morning. Why spend the time and money to make the mv (which seemed like a rather last minute decision in the first place) if not to show it for something like this? I’m hoping it’s aired more than just on the internet.

Most songwriters don’t sell the publishing rights to their songs- they retain ownership of the publishing rights and continue to receive royalties whenever the songs are recorded or performed. Publishing rights are very lucrative!

I agree. No matter what song Adam sings…he will always make it his own. I don’t think Adam could do it any other way!

I figure TPTB decided that a video with Adam in it will sell well later on. After the album release people will be looking for more and will find the TfM video. They will make money on it, maybe not right now. I think TPTB have realized how marketable he is and will use everything they can get. Had nothing to do with the movie.

Personally I don’t think Adam does anything based on what he thinks the fans will think. Actually I don’t think there are many artists out there who do – they do what they feel and some things resonate and pick up steam which in turn builds more buzz which makes more people curious and willing to overcome their preconceptions which leads to … you get the idea.

I don’t expect anything from the single anymore. I loved Adam’s vocals on TFM but was not crazy about the song or the movie, hated the album title (for your entrainment) because international people cannot pronounce it, and found his album cover to be remote from Bowie’s extravaganza, in fact it was purely executed. Love Ada, love his voice, i expect nothing anymore, which is probably all for the best.

I just listened to the interview. Billy Bush was unprofessional. In a 1:30 interview with Kris, he didn’t ask one question relating to Kris or his single or his album. All his questions were revolving with Adam. Whether his questions were insulting to Adam is another topic. It’s OT, so I stop here.

Billy Bush is always unprofessional and annoying and a moron while interviewing anyone. The interview with Kris was pathetic.

I really like Kris Allen. So much class. He keeps getting asked about Adam (especially when the questions SHOULD be about him) – yet he handles it with finesse. I wish people would understand he and Adam are very different artists. It’s like comparing James Taylor and David Bowie: I like both (very much, in fact); just not necessarily in the same concert venue.

I went to see This Is It tonight. I have always respected the genius of MJ. It was great to see him work from the angle of the movie. He just FELT so much, was so creative, and was so humble. I couldn’t help thinking of Adam’s comments at the Red Carpet show last night and his comments at other times about how MJ meant so much to him. He was such a perfectionist and a truly good human being, also reminding me of Adam. MJ meant a lot to a lot of us. I had chills thru much of the show, just being so touched by the whole thing–especially the Earth Song which is my favorite of his songs.

I was disappointed at how short the 2012 clip was. Mostly disappointed at how short TFM was. Seems they picked up the song at about the 2:38 or so of the official Adam Lambert TFM, just when he started raising his voice. The quiet part of the song was left off. Did anyone else hear something different?

The Muse song sounds great. Can’t wait for whatever Adam brings us!!!!

Wow he makes news no matter what he does. Honestly no matter what his cover would have been people would have hated it or loved it. I love it more every time I see it and for the record – I was loving it before he tweeted because I have my own mind.

Some people hate the album cover, I really do get that. After the initial shock, I worry, but I keep looking at it and even like it. If he had worn that Michelin Man suit, I would have had to pull it out and …., after I bought it.

Just went looking to check the pre-order status of FYE on an internet-site I usually order CDs from, and what do you know, there was a track listing!

MJ – there are two Adam threads that are identical. I am confuzzled!

Supposedly somebody keeps putting joke song titles on Wikipaedia. Thirteenth Coming and We Belong Together are considered to be joke titles. True story IDK.

It doesn’t have ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’  or ‘Soaked’  and those have both been confirmed by Adam. Of course, DTRH is an i-Tunes exclusive. So, I guess ‘unknown’  could be Soaked?

Yep, this list is for the physical CD, so DTRH wouldn’t be on it.

ETA: just to be clear: I have no idea how accurate cdwow.com’s information is. It’s a legit site that I routinely use to order CDs and DVDs from because it’s a lot cheaper than buying them in the Danish stores.

This is really exciting! I’m happy for Aimee & I think the title “Sleepwalker” is intriguing. I’m with most posters here hoping for more than 12 (well 13 including TFM) tracks.

Whoever said Loaded Smile might have been renamed I think is on to something. We know he cowrote Loaded Smile, but that would make 5 songs he wrote if you add it to the other 4 he confirmed. Or else it didn’t make the cut.

I cringed about what he said to Jackie Jackson about not having as much talent as his brother. Jesus that was insensitive. Yet I loved him messing with the MJ impersonator at the end. Oh, and him not knowing where to put the mic when he was interviewing the band members. And telling Cook his beard looked like peanut butter.

Think more along the lines of the song “Over at the Frankenstein Place.” There’s definitely a little similarity in feel between “Soaked” and that.

I’ve listened to Soaked a million or so times, and am completely in love with it. The music is absolutely gorgeous, and the thought of adding Adam’s incredible voice to it- Just. Wow.
I’m so thrilled for Adam that he gets to record a Muse song! It’s incredible to watch all of his dreams come true like this.
The way all these high-profile, talented people in the industry are coming in droves to collaborate with Adam- it’s like that fairy tale where the fairy godmothers all come to bestow their best gifts upon the newborn child. They see something special in him, and its magnetic.

Indeed. This made my morning. I know that as I watched the finale, I was witnessing the birth of a superstar. All the reports later that he “upstaged” KISS that night hit the nail on the head. His voice rang true and clear in his performances. He did not dial it down during the KISS medley or when he sang with Queen and Kris, as I watched him do numerous times over the season during the group numbers. And I loved him for finally giving us his whole voice during those moments when he was sharing the stage. As he said in the RS interview, “you’re not voting anymore, bitches!”

So I think we can expect the same from him over the course of his career. He’s going to be himself and I would have him no other way.

For all the campiness that the cover is, I love it more every time I look at it. My daughter’s first reaction was “wow, he’s so pretty!! He looks like a girl. Makes me want to be a lesbian.” This cracked me up!! But she couldn’t take her eyes off it and then noted that anybody passing by the CD selections in a store would have to stop and look at the cover and of course people will buy it because it’s Adam.

The buzz he generates over his every move, his every tweet, his crazy album cover gets him media attention, but it’s really all based on his vocal ability in the long run, which is phenomenal.

Being an Adam fan means that I am on a crazy ride and I will be entertained as long as he is in the business of entertaining, which I am pretty sure will be as long as he is breathing. I am not worried about him crashing or burning with this first CD. All I have to do is look at Taylor Hicks and I am heartened. Dude’s albums flopped, but he’s touring with Grease and making $300,000 a year. If Taylor is doing this well 3 years after Idol, and never generated this kind of buzz, then Adam is going to be just fine in this business. No hand wringing here, just continued celebration as the good news keeps leaking out.

Now where is that single I keep looking for??

The iTunes cost will depend on whether it is a “library” album (which has more on it–those are $14.99, like Muse’s was), a deluxe album, usually around $13.99, or regular, $11.99.

Speaking of iTunes, TfM is at 89 on the top 100, and it’s at 38 on the pop charts (holding steady!).

and I red the Robbie connection to be reference to his song “Let Me Entertain You” and the lyrics .. which again suggest “here I am, let me entertain you .. sit back and enjoy”

It ISN’T the whole thing. Someone who was there tweeted on that day that she didn’t think parts of it made it on air as she could tell by the cameras. She said that Adam told Ophrah that they shared a birthday.
