Kris Allen Video Shoot Happening Saturday, Album Songs Will Be Selected Monday

MJ, just to clarify, Kris wrote Red Guitar himself, pre-Idol (per his interview w/ Slezak). Also, I believe he said in an earlier interview (with WPLJ in NYC, I think) that he wrote I Need to Know himself as well. I know the person who tweeted the question and that is the very reason she asked about those two songs in particular.

This was a really good interview. A lot of good questions from fans.

Very recently Paul McCartney got on twitter. And I noticed someone twittered Kris the news yesterday or the day before. I checked on McCartney twitter and he has pictures of him. So I might be wrong but I have the feeling that Kris was looking at his twitter account

Yes, I know he said he *thought* the video was going to be shot last weekend rather than tonight. But I guess as with all things, schedules can change. What do you guys think of the videos that Marco Puig has directed? Some are pretty “out there” for me. I did find his website and it looked like he’s done a lot of commercial work for car makers. But poking around, I found some others. One was a Madonna video and another was a Robbie Williams video. That one had more of a feel that I think would suite Kris.

He’s done a lot of different types of videos. He’s done the more indie type of thing with The Kooks – Sway. Then on the other side of the spectrum he did a pop video for UK girl group Sugababes. I think he will do a good job on Kris’ video.

Thanks for the link, mzbet. Yeah, I can see him capturing Kris’ vibe very well. When I first heard Kris mention a while back (last week?) that the vid would be about time, I imagined something like the Keith Urban video for Time Goes By (IDEK if that’s the name of the song or not) where he’s walking down the street, and people/time/things are going past him. I think a lot can be done with this concept, and I’m sure the director doesn’t mind having someone like Kris, who is so photogenic, to work with! Makes his job a heck of a lot easier.

I enjoyed that interview quite a bit. I’ll bet Kris is glad that some of the restraints are dropping off vis-a-vis album discussion. Looking forward to the time when he can tell us anything and everything he wants to

Kris is a little confused. He can’t be singing at a Miami Dolphins game this weekend. They have a bye, so they aren’t playing. Next week or in two weeks? Two weeks from now is Arkansas’ Homecoming (Oct. 31)…I am guessing that’s the game he plans on attending?

Long shoots are pretty standard in filming music videos. I wonder if they are shooting it from 8 p.m.-8 a.m., rather than starting during the daytime, has something to do with the concept? Or is it just because it will be much cooler temperature wise in the desert?

Have a feeling Kris isn’t sleeping trying to rest up — his Razorbacks are on national t.v. playing the #1 Florida Gators right now.

That is a great picture of Kris. I can’t wait to see this video, I know it will be very artsy, but hopefully, it won’t be too abstract or hard to understand.

I’m so excited for Kris, things are really moving fast for him. Besides the two songs that he mentioned that might make the album, I really want all of his songs that he wrote with Joe King to make the cut, even though that may be asking too much, since they wrote three songs together. I also want to hear the song that he wrote with Mat Kearney.

Any thoughts on when we’ll see the video? I don’t know how long is typically needed for post-production work, and I wonder about what the strategy would be for timing the release. Before the album release, right? It would be a nice interim treat to look forward to.

This was an excellent interview and great questions from the fans. We’re finally getting some concrete information.

I’m really hoping that the two songs Kris wrote (not co-wrote) get on the album and that he has a strong hand in the production.

What worries me is the ‘I’m done with my part’ and that things in post production may get tweaked beyond recognition. I just remember all the Idols saying they recorded their parts for the iTunes releases one day, the musicians recorded another and then it was mashed together. Kris, in particular, was very unhappy with one of the releases. I hope he keeps a strong watch on that and it remains true to his vision.

Good for him on going for just his name for the album title. If he wasn’t feeling any of the titles being pushed, then they weren’t right.

On the director of this, Marco Puig, I’m very impressed with his work. Music videos ARE advertising and he’s very good at illustrating and capturing interest in the product.

I’ve been going crazy trying to guess which desert location they’re going to shoot at. My first want was Perris, CA and that hot air balloons would be involved. The night shoot doesn’t work for that. But 8 PM to 8 AM? Hey, maybe! It could end with Kris in a balloon strumming guitar or just looking out of the balloon.

Mtlfan, interesting thought. IDK, judging by how rusty Kris was in that video, he’d have to devote some serious time to getting back up to snuff. Certainly could be done, though. My son is a viola performance major in college (plays trombone in college, too) – but his first love is playing lead guitar & keyboards in his rock band. He has fooled around a little with a mike on his viola and actually did that for a high school assembly (they played Green Day “Time of Your Life”). Audience loved, loved it.

I just hope Kris was able to play some guitar on his album as I know he wanted to. Next album there will be more time for him to work on the instrumentals. (P.S., I understand how Kris’ mom must feel – I think if my son stopped playing viola I would cry for days and days..)

So excited about the album release coming up. I really hope both of Kris’s original songs get on the album. That would be great for him and I think would show that his production company is putting a bit of confidence in him as an artist as well as a performer. I love his radio speaking voice. Wish I could hear Live Like Your Dying on the radio here is Chicago. So far no luck.

The station in Chicago that is sponsoring the concert with Kris and The Fray in early December supposedly plays LLWD quite a bit. Off the top of my head, don’t knows what station that is though

Based on what I see on allaccess.com, wtmx (101.9) in Chicago played LLWD 19 times in the last week (Oct. 10 – 16)

I love Kris’ speaking voice too. He has this deep and sexy voice and it ‘s very listenable.
But I wonder why interviewers always find it necessary to ask him about How Kathy feels about girls screaming for him. Geez! I bet Kris doesn’t like it at all and you could sense it from the way he answered the quetion. Do they ask all the married artist all the time, because it’s as if these interviewers have national meeting about what to ask Kris Allen.
I can count the number of intervews where he wasn’t asked that question.
Anyway, I’m happy he got married before winning this idol thing because y’all know. I don’t know how he was going to cope *wink wink*with the rush. Haha, TMZ would have gotten him by now.

Eileen99, that’s great that your son is a musician. My ex was a musician and I remember how much his mom was deligthted to hear him play (me too of course).
I’m not sure if Kris will be performing guitar or piano on his album. The whole thing seems just to rushed for him to do that. We’ll see.

I really cannot imagine that kris won’t be playing instruments. the guy totes his guitar everywhere, and he’s obviously an instrumentalist as part of his musical identity. He also plays very interesting, somewhat off beat chords, and why would he surrender that? I can’t wait to hear this record….

I think it very likely that Kris didn’t play guitar or whatever on the album. I think it very likely that he hardly had time to sing on the album. I don’t think it takes anything away from Kris, the artist, that he was too busy to do more than sing.

David Cook didn’t play guitar on his album. There was just no time for him to do more than sing. Neal Tiemann did, however, play on Cook’s record. I don’t know if Neal played lead guitar on every song, but he’s obviously just as good a guitarist as any studio musician they could have gotten.

I haven’t had a chance to read this thread yet — but didn’t Kris write “Red Guitar” and “I Need to Know”? (vs. co-write as stated above)

I thought these were pre-Idol compositions — but written after he released his album, “Brand New Shoes”.

I am hoping they can get this video out a couple weeks before the album is released. It would give the single a boost and hopefully expose the song to people who have not heard it on the radio yet. Is two weeks a realistic turn around time?

LLWD had another great day for spins yesterday! It’s currently at #42 on the HAC chart. It might be able to crack the Top 40 next week if the add numbers are good tomorrow.

Co-write vs. written by himself. I hesitate to count on anything being written by Kris by himself and here’s why…

He may have written these songs in their entirety, but then have had input by some of the other songwriters/producers he has written with, which would then make them a co-write. I could be wrong, but I will not hold my breath on Kris having single ‘billing’ on anything. Perhaps someone knows something other than this…

However, these songs, if they make the album, will certainly have a Kris vibe to them which is the best thing of all!!

I guess the reason I’m pointing this possibility out is that I want to be prepared for peeps saying, “but I thought Kris said he wrote that song by himself… “

Another vid popped up from Seton. The violin/viola duet is at about the 3:15 mark. On further, closer review, I think the violinist had more trouble with this than Kris did, other than his first low note (she was probably nervous!).
